Graveside services for longtime Seminole area resident Margaret LaDawn (Langston) Gurley are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery.
Mickey Shaw will officiate with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Gurley, 71, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 26, 1935 in St. Louis, Okla. to Kenneth and May (Stafford) Langston.
On May 29, 1951 she married Roy Gurley in Seminole and she was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving is her husband of the home; four sons, Bill Gurley of South Boardman, Mich., David Gurley of Wewoka, Mike Gurley and Mark Gurley, both of Ponca City; three brothers, J.K. Langston and B.R. Langston, both of Asher and Rick Langston of Florida; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gertrude Hail
Funeral services for former longtime Seminole County resident Gertrude "Trudy" Isabella Hail are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Okemah.
Rev. Toby Williams, assisted by Rev. Glenn Pierce will officiate the service.
Interment is to follow service at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
Hail, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at her Okemah home. She was born Nov. 22, 1925 in Cromwell to Vernon Alfus Wright and Margaret Violet Isabella (Bryant) Wright.
She had been a Seminole County resident most of her life before moving to Okemah in 2001.
On May 15, 1942 she married Millard Russell Hail in Wewoka and she was a housewife and member of the Butner Baptist church.
She enjoyed collecting yard ornaments, watching movies and spending time with her children.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, Millard "Rusty" Vernon Hail of Cromwell; two daughters, Debra Sanders of Cromwell and Robin Crawford of Okemah; two sisters, Marvell Irby of Holdenville and Tropal Lee Stewart of Wewoka; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Williams, Matthew Kelley, Vurlin Crawford, Vernon Crawford, Joe Crawford, Cody Hail, Tony Vaughn and Toby "Smokey" Williams.
Richard Hair Sr.
Graveside services for lifetime Wewoka resident Richard Joe Hair Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Hair passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1939 in Wewoka to Oscar Davis and Cordie (Counts) Hair.
Richard joined the Army Reserves in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1962.
On June 17, 1960 he married Juanita Grissom and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2005.
Two daughters and one son were born to this union, Trina Dutton of Checotah, Jennifer and husband Christopher Conn of Wewoka and Rick and Andrea Hair of Wewoka.
He was seventh of 10 children and all but two sisters, Patsy Keiser of Glenpool and Francis Mayfield of Konawa, preceded him in death.
Richard was a bulldozer operator and he began working for Hair Brothers Construction and then worked for United Truck services until he retired in 1996.
His hobbies after his retirement were making crafts, playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren: Stephanie Johnson, Derek and Keri Johnson, Dustin Hair, Jeremy Johnson, Caleb Conn, Marissa Hair, Case and Cade Conn; and great-grandchildren, Makala Pack, Tyson Johnson, Bryce Hair and Kaden Johnson, all of Wewoka.
Pallbearers for the services will be Olen Carr, Don Bryant, Shannon Smith, Tony Peters, Anthony Johnson and John Kirby.
Mollie Bell (Moore) Halk
Funeral services for longtime Seminole area resident, Mollie Bell (Moore) Halk are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Cromwell Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Rev. Dennis Eubanks officiating.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Mollie Bell (Moore) Halk of Cromwell passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 in Seminole, at the age of 97. She was a homemaker for her eight children.
She was born June 14, 1909 in Haskell, Texas to Lonnie B. and Lioia (Hifield) Brooks.
Mollie has been a resident of Seminole County since 1936. She moved with her family to Wetumka when she was 1 1/2 years old.
She was baptized at the Cromwell Baptist Church in 1939 and attended the old Butner Baptist Church.
Her children attended the Butner School System.
Mollie was married to Floyd Moore and he passed away in 1974. She married Robert F. Halk June 6, 1980 and he preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1989.
Her son, Burman Moore also preceded her in death in 1963.
Survivors include her daughters, Hazel Phelps, Fayetteville, Ark., Geraldine Blalock and husband Weldon, of Seminole, Wanda Hill, Eufaula, Jackie Bassham, Choctaw, Carmeletta and husband Jeff Grant, Cromwell, Melba and husband Hubert Hail of Sulphur; son, Bill and wife Billie Moore, of Wewoka and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mozell Hall
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Mozell Hall are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of Christ, Seminole with Chris Stinnett to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Garden in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Mozell passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 in Gonzales, Texas at the age of 86. She was born in Creek County on Nov. 26, 1919 to Charles R. and Emma (Creason) Johnson.
On April 12, 1941 she married James H. Hall in Seminole. The couple lived in Velma Alma, Okla. during Jim’s oilfield career before returning to Seminole.
Following the passing of her husband, Mozell moved to Gonzales, Texas in August 2005.
She was a homemaker, devoted wife and Christian. Mozell graduated from Prairie View High School. She loved sewing and did so for the public.
Mozell was an active member of Church of Christ of Seminole.
Her parents, husband James (April 21, 2005), one sister Louise Conner and one son Larry Hall preceded her in death.
Surviving is son and daughter-in-law, Don and Faye Hall of Lancaster, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Bill Dryden of Gonzales, Texas; two grandchildren, Rodney Green and wife Teresa of Chickasha and Gabriella Green of Dallas, Texas and two great-grandchildren, Serena Rachel and Logan Alexander.
Casket bearers will be Charles Conner, Wayne Conner, C.W. Conner, Gale Conner, Daniel Rojas and Mike Vanlandingham.
Edward Hammonds
Graveside services for former Holdenville resident, Edward C. Hammonds, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Holdenville Cemetery with Bro. Earl Scroggins officiating.
Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Hammonds, of Shawnee, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006 at Colonial Estates Nursing Home, Shawnee. He was born Sept. 11, 1917 in South Carolina.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and moved to Holdenville after his discharge.
Hammonds worked in the oilfields and for the highway department for a while. He married Elizabeth Holcomb in July 2000.
His first wife, Emma Hammonds, and one stepdaughter, Linda Nichols, preceded him n death.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Hammonds of Shawnee; son, J.C. Kanard of Wewoka; stepdaughter, Bea Baker of Shawnee; stepson, Frank Chamberlain of California; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Jaci Kanard.
Serving as pallbearers for the service was Tommy Kanard, Jeff Kanard, Andrew Douglas, Aaron Kanard, Taylor Kanard and Kayleb Kanard.
Wanda Lou Hand
Graveside services for Seminole County resident Wanda Lou Hand are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Tate Mountain Cemetery with Rev. Leo Streater officiating.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
Wanda passed away on Aug. 30, 2006, at her home in Wewoka at the age of 68. She was born on Jan. 23, 1938 in Hughes County to R.F and Bertha (Eaves) Tarpley.
She was raised at Tate Mountain and attended grade school at Tate Mountain and graduated from New Lima.
On Sept. 17, 1960 she married Wade Hand in Seminole County. After they married they moved to Norman from 1961 to 1966 then they moved to Denton, Texas till 1976 when they returned to Tate Mountain area.
She enjoyed bowling, and basketball and loved watching OU football games.
Her parents, five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband Wade Hand of the home; two daughters, Treena and husband David Brown and Kristi and husband Wesley Williams, all of Wewoka; two brothers, Jack Tarpley and Verlin Tarpley, both of Wewoka; nine grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Cagle, Steven Hand, Kelly Wilson, Amber Brown, Zack Hale, Kevin Wilson, Jordan Cagle and Jenna Cagle; one great-grandchild, Neveah Hale and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
William Haney Jr.
Funeral service for lifelong Seminole resident William Woodrow "Bill" Haney, Jr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Seminole.
Interment with full military rites performed by the Seminole Nation Honor Guard is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Wake services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Haney, 62, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at his home. He was born Aug.8, 1943 in Seminole to William Woodrow Haney and Hattie Louise (Harjo) Haney.
He attended school in his younger years at Prairie Valley Grade School and then at Sequoyah Indian School at Tahlequah. Haney also attended Hitichitee Methodist Church in his youth.
Haney was an artist who served in the United States Navy during Vietnam and was a very active member of the Seminole Nation Honor Guard and V.F.W.
His parents and one sister, Nona Haney, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Chris Haney of Tecumseh and Nick Haney of Claremore; one daughter, Stephanie Haney of Tahlequah; three brothers, Chief Enoch Kelly Haney of Seminole, Willie Haney of Morris and Terry Spencer of Mustang; one sister, Greta Ruminer of Seminole; seven grandchildren and the mother of his children, Glenda Stephens of Claremore.
