Ruth Mae Lemmonds
Services for Ruth Mae Lemmond, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 17, 2003 at the Victory Life Church in Hugo. The Rev. Otis Cayton officiate the ceremony. Internment followed at the Fort Towson cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 16, 2003 at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel.
Ruth Mae Lemmond went to be with the Lord Jan. 14, 2003 at Hillcrest Specialty Hospital in Tulsa. She was 70.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. “Mama Ruth,” as she was fondly called, was a friend to all who knew her. Ruth was born Sept. 13, 1932 in Pine Valley to Enoch and Nancy Billy-Alexander. Ruth married J.C. Lemmond Dec. 26, 1968 in Dequeen, Ark.
She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. She also enjoyed singing, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elzora Fulton; three brothers, H.D., Veron and June Alexander.
She is survived by her husband, J.C. Lemmond of Hugo; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey & Edith Anderson, Jerry & Terrie Anderson, Joe & Linda Anderson, all of Hugo, and Rusty & Michelle Lemmond of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Anderson, Wanda & Paul Lewis, Bessie & Allen Carroll, all of Hugo, JoAnn & Neal Ashby of Durant, Sharon & Ray Bowman of Austin, Texas and Elizabeth and Brian Stamper of Collinsville; two sisters, Wanda Brinkley of Hugo and Ann Pisachubbee of Tulsa; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mt. Olive Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.
Georgia Best
Services for Georgia Best, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 18, 2003 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo. Brother Donnie Bates officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
Georgia Bates died Jan. 15, 2003 in Hugo. She was 90.
Georgia was born July 8, 1912 in Cooper, Texas. She married Homer Burton June 9, 1929 in Virgil. After Homer’s death in 1957, she married Charles Best in 1960.
She was preceded in death by Charles Best in 1963.
Georgia is survived by two daughters, Louise Cearley of Hugo and Opal Chastain of Atwater, Calif.; one son, Richard Burton of Dayton, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pansy Kate (Conley) Holik
Graveside services for Pansy Kate (Conley) Holik, of Sparks, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 11, 2003 at the Czech National Cemetery near Prague. Wilbur Wooten officiated the ceremony.
Pansy Kate Holik died Jan. 9, 2003 in Meeker. She was 85.
She was born April 17, 1917 in Mansfield, Ark. to J.W. and Sara Elizabeth (Young) Conley. She married Frank Holik Dec. 7, 1946 in Chandler.
Pansy Kate Holik had been a resident of Lincoln County since 1946. She was a schoolteacher and had been a member of the Z. C. B. J. Lodge for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Holik, of Meeker; one daughter, Nancy Ann Myers of Joplin, Mo.; two brothers, Hugh Conley of Hugo and John Conley of Dallas; and two sisters, Millie Stapleton of Antlers and Annie Conley of Hugo; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague handled the funeral arrangements.
Warren “Buddy” Salyer
Services for Warren “Buddy” Salyer, of Shidler, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 14, 2003 at the First Christian Church in Shidler. The Rev. Manny Loveall officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Fairfax Cemetery.
Warren Salyer died Jan. 11, 2003 in Shidler. He was 88.
Warren Salyer was born July 8, 1914 in Hoffman to Thomas Salyer and Cora (Donnier) Salyer. He married Etla Harbeson Nov. 29, 1935 in Pawhuska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roscoe, Vernie, Carl, John and Bill; and three sisters, Eva, Gertrude and Elsie.
He is survived by his wife, Etla, of Shidler; two sons, Buddy Salyer of Shidler and Larry Salyer of Hugo; one daughter, Karren Golay of Shidler; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City handled the funeral arrangements.
Hazel Tyler
Services for Hazel Tyler, of Millerton, were at 10 a.m. Jan. 13, 2003 at the Spirit Rock Church in Millerton. Brother Troy Ruffin officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Wheelock Cemetery.
Hazel Tyler died Jan. 11, 2003 in Hugo. She was 87.
Hazel Tyler was born Sept. 27, 1915 in Pittsburg County to J.W. and Rachel Irene Furr Rush.
Hazel was a homemaker and had lived in the Millerton area for 68 years, moving from Colorado. She was a faithful member of the Spirit Rock Church in Millerton and a dedicated volunteer and devoted supporter of the Valliant Nutrition Center and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Franklin Tyler, Sr., in 1981; one sister, Della Lois Dodd; one brother, Jeff Rush; and her best friend, Margaret White in 2002.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jodi Tyler of Valliant; her daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Charles Coker of Hugo; three grandchildren Vicki Tyler of Liberty, Texas, Terri Hathcock of Kileen, Ala. and William Franklin Tyler III of Benbrook, Texas; two sisters, Collene Wyatt of Millerton and Josie Mustain of Emmett, Idaho; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
