Jean (Brooks) Andrews

Services for Jean (Brooks) Andrews, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 13, 2003 at the Southside Baptist Church in Hugo. The Rev. Rick Lawrenson officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.

Jean (Brooks) Andrews died Jan. 10, 2003 in Paris, Texas. She was 76.

Edna Jean (Brooks) Andrews was born Sept. 12, 1926 to Will and Helen (Testerman) Brooks in Hugo. She married Walter L. (Speck) Andrews in April of 1946.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Bob Brooks and one half-brother, Roy Brooks.

She is survived by two brothers, Don Brooks of Hugo and Carl Brooks of Garland; and several nieces and nephews including Rhonda Floyd of Paris, Texas.

Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.

Randy Vanderburg

Services for Randy Vanderburg, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 13, 2003 at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. The Rev. Vernon Babcock officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo.
Randy Vanderburg died Jan. 9, 2003 in Hugo. He was 51.

Randy Vanderburg was born March 6, 1951 in Paris, Texas to Kenneth Vanderburg and Nell (Slagle) Vanderburg. He married Brenda Babcock April 9, 1977 in Hugo.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Vanderburg; his mother, Nell Vanderburg of Arthur City, Texas; two daughters, Jordana Frost of Grant and Erika Vanderburg of Hugo; two sisters, Marsha Brown and Monya Hall, both of Chicota, Texas and one brother, Robin Vanderburg of Paris, Texas.

Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo is handling the funeral arrangements.

Clarence Montgomery

Services for Clarence Montgomery, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, 2003 at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. Brother Mutt Wallace officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo.

Clarence Montgomery died Jan. 9, 2003 in Hugo. He was 92.

He was born Jan. 16, 1910 in Hot Springs, Ark. to John A. Montgomery and Annie (Redwine) Montgomery. He married Linnie Evett June 14, 1936 in Antlers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by wife, Linnie Montgomery; one nephew and a number of cousins.

Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.

Bessie Pearl Baker

Services for Bessie Pearl Baker, of Soper, were at 2 p.m. Feb. 8, 2003 at the Soper Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Donnie Waggoner officiated the ceremony. Interment followed at the Soper Cemetery.

Bessie Pearl Baker died Feb. 5, 2003 in Paris, Texas. She was 92.

Pearl Baker was born Jan. 30, 1911 in Sawyer to Jasper Newt & Annie Elizabeth (Ainsworth) Thompson. She was a lifelong resident of Soper, Pearl was a member of the Soper Assembly of God church and was a homemaker. She married Edward Baker May 20, 1937.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a son, Benny Jo Pipkins; a daughter, Wanda Chapman; a brother, Ralph Thompson; and a sister, Atlas Holly.

She is survived by two sons, Edward Baker, Jr. of Hugo and Jess Burl Baker of Paris, Texas; a daughter, Alyde Harris of Apple Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Tammy Morlaes, Riccki Nibblett, Ronald Shelton, Sue Shehan, Carla Guy, Melissa Alley and Christopher Baker; seven great-grandchildren, Miranda & Caitlin Bates, Eric Shelton, Brandon Thomas, Yasaraly Morlaes, Mandy & Stephanie Shelton; and one great-great-grandchild, Chasity Guy.

James Roland Forbus

Services for James Roland Forbus, of Longview, Texas, were at 10 a.m. Feb. 8, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, Texas. Roger Forbus and Allen Tolliver officiated the ceremony. Interment followed at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.

James Roland Forbus died at Feb. 6, 2003 his home in Longview, Texas. He was 82.

James Roland Forbus was born July 2, 1920 in Ozark, Ark. to James Orval and Nora Sutliff Forbuss. A former resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, James had lived in Longview since June of 1999. He was a member of the Longview Church Christ, an army veteran of World War II and was a carpenter and maintenance foreman for apartment houses.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Longview, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Christina Forbus of Diana, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Gary Rees of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael Forbus, Robert Forbus, Elizabeth McElrath, Charley Rainaud, Kristy Tuhy and Robert Rees; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Forbus of Hugo, Gene Forbus of Millington, Tenn. and Delbert Forbus of Hugo; two sisters, Helen Christianson of Heber Springs, Ark. and Altha Alexander of Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Tyrese Devaughn Ware

Graveside services for Tyrese Devaughn Ware, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Feb. 6, 2003 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Alberty officiated the ceremony.

The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 5, 2003 at the Rogan Funeral Home in Hugo.

Tyrese Devaughn Ware died at his home. He was 6 months old.

Tyrese is survived by his father, Troy Ware of Hugo; his mother, Susan Wallace of Hugo; his brother, Troy Ware, Jr.; his sister, Carissa Wallace of Hugo; his grandparents, Bonnie Dunlap of Hugo, Patricia Johnson of Hugo, Jerry Dunlap of Hugo and Lester Ware of Abilene, Texas; and several aunts and uncles.

Rogan Funeral Home in Hugo handled the funeral arrangements.
