Vada Evelyn (Wyatt) Mantooth

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Vada Evelyn (Wyatt) Mantooth are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Free Will Baptist Church, Wewoka, with Bro Richard Terry to officiate.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with service arrangements under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Vada passed from this live at the age of 79 years, on Thursday, March 30, 2006. She was born October 24, 1926, to Frank R. Wyatt and Bonnie (Spears, Thomas) Wyatt.

She attended school at Sasakwa, Bakersfield, Calif. and Seminole Jr. College and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, Rebekah Lodge, Daisy Garden Club, and Advisory Committee of Mental Health, a long time member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Wewoka.

Vada was employed by various businesses in the Wewoka area, including Morgan Ford, Matheny Motors, the Extension Office, County Clerks Office in the Seminole County Court House, Farmers Home Administration Department of Agriculture, from which she retired in 1988.

After retirement she worked part-time for Seminole County District #3 and Wewoka Chamber of Commerce.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Mantooth Jr. whom she married Sept. 4, 1942, also her parents Frank R. Wyatt, 1967, Bonnie Wyatt 1959, brother Lee J. Wyatt 1986, William Carl Wyatt 2003, half brothers Harlan Thomas, Willie Wyatt, half sister Velma (Thomas) Tipton.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Mantooth and wife Melanie, Bolivar, Mo. and Terry Mantooth, Wewoka; five grandchildren, Anna Mantooth, Norman, Lauren Mantooth, Wewoka, Chris Mantooth, Parkland, Fla., Brent Mantooth Cushing and T. J. Mantooth, Norman; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Byrd, Taylor Mantooth, and Trevor Mantooth; one brother, Bobby Wyatt and wife Fern of Oklahoma City and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to American Cancer Society in Vada’s honor.

Jerry Marley Jr.

Funeral services for Seminole resident, Jerry Lee Marley, Jr. are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Larry Chesser, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Jerry Lee Marley, Jr. passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at the age of 77. He was born on Nov. 16, 1928 in Earlsboro to Jerry Lee Marley, Sr. and Walsie Mae (Parker) Marley.

He married Loretta Jane Morrel on Feb. 17, 1954 in Yuma, Ariz.

Jerry served in the Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict as a welder and flew supplier over Hawaii.

He raised his family working as a driller for Service Drilling Company and as a Cross Country Truck driver. He was a member of the Highway Baptist Church.

His parents and one infant baby and his youngest son, Karry Marcus Marley, precede him in death.

He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Lee III, and Kathy Marley of Cromwell, Larry Don and Nita Marley of Sallisaw, Gary Reece and Jackie Marley of Madera, Calif., Perry Dalton Marley of Orange Lake, Fla. and Terry Mitchell and Donna Marley of Seminole; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry LaNee' and Kevin Keeth of Depew, Okla. and Shelly JoLeene and Gregg Comstock of Seminole and one sister, Jen Goff of Pink, Okla.

Seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive him.

Roger Marquis

Funeral services for Seminole resident Roger Jackson Marquis are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, Little with Rusty Dawson and James Branscum officiating.

Winfred Lowe and Mike Cofer will offer special prayers at the service.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Marquis, 59, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1947 in Prague, Okla. to Roger L. and Joeanna (Jackson) Marquis.

On June 21, 1968 he married Janet Cene’ Stringfield in Seminole at the Church of Christ. He lived in Seminole County most of his life, living in Norman from 1968 until 2002, when he returned to Seminole.

Marquis received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Oklahoma City University.

He worked for the Norman Police Department, retiring after 26 years of service. Marquis also retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Marquis was a member of the Church of Christ in Little and was currently attending the Church of Christ in Cromwell.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; his mother, Anna Marquis of Seminole; one son, Jeremy Marquis of Tulsa and one daughter, Khara Ritzky of Norman.

Casket bearers for the services will be Russell Amos, Don Gaido, Harvey Hester, Joe French, Darrell Houser, Rick Marquis, Pete Amos, Tex Gleichman, Bobby Marquis, Leon Provasnik and Calvin Perry.

Honorary bearers will be David Webb, Willis Bettis, Ronnie Hawkins, George Jansing, Jack Pinion, Bill Duncan, Robbie Robertson, Paul Coots, David Dillard and members of the Norman Police Department.

The family suggests that donations may be made to the Marquis Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Mary French, 11497 N.S. 3620, Seminole, OK 74868. This scholarship is to benefit a Strother High School student.

Jimmie Marson

A graveside service for Wewoka resident Jimmie Marson is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery.

Rev. Dan Factor and Rev. Russell Ryker are to officiate with services being under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Marson, age 83, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1924 in Wewoka to John and Gussie Marson.

In May 1948 he married Juanita Smith in Wewoka and he owned Marson Grocery Store.

His parents, wife Juanita and son, Jimmie Don Marson preceded him in death.

Surviving is his son Ronnie Griffith of Visa Lila, Calif.

Pallbearers for the service will be Lester Bryant, Donald Bryant, David Calvert, George Sharp, Jim Mitchell and Dewey Muirhead.

Jimmie Don Marson

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Jimmie Don Marson are scheduled for Thursday at Hilltop Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Ryker officiating.

Interment is to follow services at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Marson, 56 died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 in Seminole. He was born Sept. 25, 1949 in Wewoka to Jimmie Marson and Juanita Nora (Smith) Marson.

He loved to fish and spend time with his family. Marson was a member of Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church.

His mother, Juanita Marson, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his father, Jimmie Marson of Wewoka and brother, Ronnie Griffith of Visalia, Calif.

Pallbearers for the services will be Jim Choate, Kevin Thetford, Jake Smith, Charles Collins, Charles Sisco and Darrell Streater. Honorary bearers will be Russ Kay and Roy Griffith.

Eleanor Martin

Funeral services for Maud resident Eleanor (McCulloch) "Sister" Martin are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.

Rev. Wesley Martin, Rev. Tim Martin and John Martin will officiate. Visitation will be at the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.

Interment is to follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

"Sister" Martin 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at Shawnee Unity North Hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1920 in Greeley, Colo. to Luther Vince McCulloch and Pearl (Rice) McCulloch.

On Sept. 17, 1935 she married Lois G. Martin in Hazel, Okla. and was a housewife, mother, adult Bible teacher and pastor’s wife.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Maud, and has been a Pottawatomie County resident for 78 years having moved her at the age of seven from Denver, Colo.

Her parents; husband, L.G. Martin (Nov. 26, 2005); one son, Daniel Leon Martin; one grandchild, Yvonnie Kathleen Martin; one brother, James Alvin "Jack" McCulloch and one sister, Ada Marie (McCulloch) Pierce preceded her in death.

She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, John Paul and Neta Martin of Greenville, Texas, James David Martin of Talihina, L.G. Jr. and Julia Martin of Maud, Lawrence Wesley and Joyce Martin of Sasakwa, Lemuel Timothy and Linda Martin of Maud and Luther Carlus Martin of Maud; four daughters and son-in-law, Frieda Lee Martin of Maud, Billie Sue Curtis of Seminole, Rebecca Lou Duncan of Sulphur and Cindy Kay and Ronnie Robertson of Seminole; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Frank ‘Maurice’ Martin

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Frank "Maurice" Martin are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Rev. Gary Wilburn is to officiate with services being under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Martin, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center. He was born June 12, 1920 in Mistic, Iowa to C.E. Davis and Opal (Hopper).

He married Dorothy Villines on Sept. 7, 1941 in Nevada and was a retired fire chief of the City of Seminole. After his retirement, he worked for the City of Seminole as a Building Inspector, retiring in 1996.

Martin was active in the Seminole Kiwanis Club and instrumental in starting the Oklahoma Firefighters Museum in Oklahoma City.

He was a graduate of Seminole High School and also served on several State boards associated with firefighters.

His parents and wife, Dorothy Martin (Jan. 5, 2002) preceded him n death.

Surviving are two sons, Max Martin of Sulphur and Matt Martin of Tulsa; one brother, Max Davis of Oklahoma City and three granddaughters.

Ida Mae Martin

Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Ida Mae Martin were held today at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.

Rev. Tim Martin officiated with burial being at Cummings Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Martin, 80, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 in Catoosa. She was born May 5, 1926 in Oklahoma to Billy Chupco and Millie Ann "Annie" (Bemo) Chupco.

On Sept. 29, 1942 she married Bois Marin in Konawa. She was a homemaker who owned and operated the Maud Café for a few years.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Maud.

Her parents; husband (May 1982); one daughter, Deloris Palmer (May 1995) and one infant son, Joseph Martin (1963) preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Gerald Martin of Seminole and Tex Martin of Lindsay, Okla.; two daughters, Nancy Hurst of Hockley, Texas and Sandra Ryan of Catoosa; one sister, Betty Honsinger of Talihina and 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Jim Martin

Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident James Cade "Jim" Martin were held at 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole with Leroy Orr officiating.

Interment followed at Tate Mountain Cemetery, Wewoka with military honors.

Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Martin, 71, a McCurtain (Haskell County) resident, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 in Ft. Smith, Ark. He was born Sept. 21, 1934 in Bowser, Texas to Julian Martin and California "Tot" (Install) Martin.

He moved to Poteau in 1966, then to McCurtain. Martin was a member of the Oak Hills Baptist Church in Louisiana.

Martin served in the United States Army, earning the rank of Corporal, serving from 1954 until 1957.

On Oct. 14, 1994 he married Sue Yeager in Ft. Smith, Ark.

One brother, W.R. Martin preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; one daughter, Jamie Lynn Webster of Odessa, Texas; one step-son, Eric Nicholson of Jenks; three step-daughters, Kay Dominguez of Arlington, Texas, Angie Richardson and Shanna Johnson, both of Seminole; one sister, Margie Boyd of San Angelo, Texas; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
