Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Richard Samuel Martin, Jr. were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Highway 5 Church in Mountain View, Ark.
A graveside service and burial is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, Okla. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Martin, 76, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in Mountain View, Ark. He was born Dec. 1, 1929 in Henryetta to Richard Samuel Martin, Sr. and Gladys (Wells) Martin.
He was a charter member of Highway 5 Church of Christ, and was employed in the civil service at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
Martin was a United States Army veteran.
His parents and his first wife, Alma Rita Martin, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Nellie (Nickloson) martin of the home; two sons, Scott Martin and Rodney martin; two stepsons, Ollie Ingram and Dale Ingram; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service were Ike Herrington and Mike Herrington.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home of Mountain View was in charge of the arrangements.
Yuvonna Massengale
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Yuvonna Joyce Massengale are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.
Roy Bothers is to officiate with the eulogy to be given by John Kimbrow and Clint Goss.
Joyce, 64, of Eufaula, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2006. She was born March 17, 1941 in Hazel, Okla. to Alford Ford White and Lucille (Burgess).
She was a homemaker who loved caring for others, quilting, crocheting and gardening beautiful flowers. Joyce is of the Baptist faith.
Joyce attended grade school in St. Louis, Okla. and graduated from Seminole High School.
On Feb. 29, 1958 she married Jimmy Phillips in Seminole and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1990. Joyce then married Dewayne Massengale on Dec. 20, 1990 in Seminole and he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 2003.
Surviving are three daughters, Anita Anderson of Canadian, Jimmie Phelps of Eufaula and Sherry and Joey Ford of Stidham, Okla.; three brothers, Fred White of Tecumseh, Roger White of McLoud and Terry White of Calvin and two sisters, Bettie Rosamond Wilson of Seminole and Theda Dressel of Canadian.
In addition, nine grandchildren, Thomas and Kim Yerby of Bowlegs, Joseph Yerby of Seminole, April Medows of Prague, Christopher Anderson of Eufaula, Jessica Joplin of Stidham, Yuvonna "Shelby" Joplin of Stidham, Kayla Anderson of Eufaula, Heather Ford of Eufaula and Bryan Ford of Stidham and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Yerby of Bowlegs.
Her parents, husbands and one brother Alfred Ford White, Jr. preceded her in death.
Zepher Massey
Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Zepher Massey were held today at 1 p.m. at Westwood Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Harper officiating.
Services were under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Massey, 87, of Fresno, Calif. died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born May 5, 1918 in Idabel, Okla. to Leon and Annie Richardson Gray.
Her family moved to Wewoka after her birth and she attended school in Wewoka. She moved to California as a young adult and worked for a rug manufacturer.
Massey was a member of Greater Faith Baptist Church of Fresno, Calif.
Her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Surviving is son, Eddie Massey of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Jessie Gray of Wewoka; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Mollie McBroom
A Mass for Maud resident Mary Emma "Mollie" McBroom is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday at Sacred Heart Church with Father Matthew officiating.
A Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel of Konawa and Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mollie passed away, Sunday, June 11, 2006 in Shawnee at the age of 86. She was born Aug. 11, 1920 to James Edward and Alice (O'Connor) McCraw.
She married Hurschel Earl "Boots" McBroom and they made their home in Arkansas City; Kan.; Atlanta, Ga., and Wichita, Kan.
After Mr. McBroom’s passing Mollie moved to Temple, Texas to be close to her daughter. She spent the last seven years at the Maud Nursing Home in Maud.
Mollie was a loving mother and grandmother. She put everyone before herself and her need. Her family has missed her immeasurably and will so now.
Her parents; husband; two brothers, Oscar McCraw and Ed McCraw; four sisters, Ellie Smith, Agnes Lehman, Maggie Anderson, Vesta Hodges and two grandchildren, Michael David McBroom and Denise Rene McBroom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Hargrove of Belton, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Gary Don and Mary McBroom of Charleston, S.C.; son-in-law, Gary M. Hargrove of Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Veta McCraw of Purcell and three grandchildren, Gary Dean Hargrove, Shelly Lynn Just and Lisa Dawn Taylor.
In addition, surviving her are right great-grandchildren, Timothy "T.J." Just, Christina Leigh Just, Katy Grace Banning, Tyler Hargrove, Travis Hargrove, T.M. Grady, Jeffery Lamb and Gary Taylor; one granddaughter-in-law, Sandy (Cheryl) Hargrove of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and two great-great grandchildren, Emma London Marvin and Cooper Gene Hargrove.

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Lola Irene McCain are scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Lola Irene McCain passed away, Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at the age of 97. She was born on Sept. 3, 1908 in Tulsa, Okla. to Oliver and Cora (Miller) Harper.
She married Ernest Melvin McCain on Feb. 14, 1924 in Cromwell, Okla. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge.
Her husband, Ernest Melvin McCain preceded her in death in 1967.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ernest M. and Donna McCain of Pinehurst, N.C.; daughter, Betty Watts of Conyers, Ga.; sister, Annie Whinery of Seminole; three grandchildren and their spouses, Lin and Millie Watts of Conyers, Ga., Chuck and Mary Thomas Watts of Wilmington, Ohio and Sean and Sandy McCain of Paradise, Calif.
She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Benjamine Watts of Conyers, Ga., Sam Watts of Conyers, Ga., Ann Charles Watts and husband Jason Hillard of Waynesville, Ohio, Joshua McCain of Paradise, Calif., and Courtney McCain of Paradise, Calif. and two nieces, Jackie Upton of Baton Rough, La., and Betty May Keys of Tulsa, Okla.
Frank McCalla
Funeral services for longtime Cromwell resident, Frank Lloyd McCalla, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Clay Pettis officiating.
Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Lawton, Okla. with full military honors.
Frank Lloyd McCalla passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 in Mississippi at the age of 78. He was born on Nov. 17, 1927 to Lloyd Harris and Nettie (Geiger) McCalla in Pawnee City, Nebraska.
He married Mary (Hunter) on Nov. 26, 1949 in Fort Smith, Ark.
Frank was a retired Marine sergeant where he served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received three Purple Hearts, Navy Occupational Medal, Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the United Nations Medal.
McCalla was an Agriculture Instructor and FFA advisor at Cromwell and Carney. He was also the director of Vo-Tech Center at the Lexington Correctional Facility, he taught in education for over thirty years.
He was a National Commander for the La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux (40 and 8). He was also a member of the DAV, American Legion, Military Order of the Purple Heart, VFW, Masons, Shriners, Elks Lodge of Seminole, and OEA.
Surviving Frank is his wife of the home, Mary McCalla; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank David McCalla of Drumright and Roy Roy and Jane McCalla of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Scott Abercrombie of Aurora, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, William and Evelyn McCalla of Studio City, Calif.; sisters and brother-in-law, Anna Lou and Tom Howard of Glendale, Calif., Florence Tugwell of Studio City, Calif. and Mary Adkins of Van Nuys, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Former FFA boys and sweethearts will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Jim McComas
A memorial service for former Seminole resident Jim Taylor McComas is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Victor Adams, officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.
McComas 61, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Norman Regional Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born April 5, 1945 in Napa, Calif. to Vernon A. Taylor and Louise (Mount) Taylor.
He graduated from Strother High School in 1964 and retired in December of 1976 from Tinker Air Force Base where he had worked in aircraft repair.
His father preceded him in death in 2004.
Surviving is his mother, Louise Taylor of Norman; two sons, Brad George of Oklahoma City and Scott McComas of California; one daughter, Kay Lyn Clifton of Shawnee; one brother, Vernon Leon Taylor of Choctaw; three sisters, Loretta Dye, Oda Mae Lott and Jean Taylor, all of Norman and two grandchildren.
Beverly McDaniel
Funeral services for Seminole County resident Beverly Sue McDaniel are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rusty Dawson officiating.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.
Beverly departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 in Seminole at the age of 67. She was born Dec. 26, 1938 in Shawnee.
Beverly, the daughter of James Hersel and Hazel Alene (Johnson) McDaniel, was the valedictorian of the 1957 Prairie Valley graduating class.
She worked for the IRS for three years and retired from Tinker Air Force Base, where she worked in the Accounting Department for 23 years.
Beverly was a tutor for JOM at Strother School for 14 years.
She was a member of the Highway Baptist Church, where she served as a pianist for many years. Beverly was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
An infant sister preceded Beverly in death.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Denise Vass of Seminole; daughters and son-in-law, L. Denise and Ted North and Jenen Factor, all of Seminole; parents, Hersel and Hazel McDaniel of Seminole; former mother-in-law, Lela Vass of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Myrtle McDonald
Funeral services for former Little resident Myrtle Lorene "Granny Myrt" Murphree McDonald were held Friday at Del City Church of Christ.
A graveside service followed at Little Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhower Funeral Home, Del City.
McDonald, of Del City, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. She was born Jan. 25, 1921 in Pittsburg County.
She was a longtime member of Del City Church of Christ and was involved in many church activities including VBS cookies, holiday fruit baskets and visitation.
Her husband of 65 years, Melvin McDonald; four sisters; one brother and two great-grandsons preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Thompson; one son, Ray McDonald; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one brother.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Adopt a Class Program at the Del City Church of Christ.
Alvin McGee
Graveside services for former Seminole businessman Alvin Eugene McGee were held yesterday at Crestview Memorial Park.
Rev. Hector Medina, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiated with arrangements by Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls, Texas.
McGee, 96 of Kerrville, Texas, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Kerrville.
He was a native of St. Louis, Okla. and was the co-founder and owner of Perry-McGee Furniture in Seminole.
Surviving is his wife, Jo McGee of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Ann L. McGee of Las Vegas, Nev. and Elaine McGee of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Carroll Wilson of Wichita Falls and John Wilson of Kerrville; one brother, Lawrence McGee of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Vida Butler of Hereford, Texas; four children and one great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 901 Indiana, Suite 350, Wichita Falls, TX 76301.
