James Middleton

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident James Earl Middleton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with Ruby Nell York to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Middleton, of Shawnee, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Sept. 30, 1947 in Tahlequah to Arthor Oscar Middleton Sr. and Martha (Faughn) Middleton.

He attended Wewoka Schools and was a truck driver for Pam Transport. Middleton enjoyed trucking, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers: Jimmy David Middleton and Clarence Eugene Middleton, and one sister Jewel Groseclose preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Middleton of Earlsboro; one son, Manuel Krueger of Earlsboro; two daughters, Renea McCune of Shawnee and Aletha Middleton of Hartshorne; five grandchildren; one brother, Arthor Oscar Middleton Jr. of Poteau and one sister, Vera Lee Johnson of Poteau.

Mary Jane Milam

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Mary Jane Milam are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Victory Baptist Church in Del City.

Burial services are scheduled to follow at Johnson Family Cemetery, east of Bowlegs.

A wake service is set for tonight at 6:30 p.m., also at Victory Baptist Church in Del City. All services are under the direction of Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home of Midwest City.

Milam died at the age of 63 on Sunday, January 29, 2006.

She was born June 25, 1942, to Bennie and Mollie Wilson in Talihina.

She made Midwest City her home in 1970 after previously living in Wewoka.

On Jan. 29, 1971, she married James N. Milam in Wewoka.

James Milam, who was Chief of the Seminole Nation for four years in the 1980s, died in 2004 not long after losing the June election to former Sen. Kelly Haney.

Mary Jane Milam was a member of Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City.

She retired in 2004 as a clerk for the engineering department of OG&E.

Besides her husband, Milam was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Mollie Wilson; two brothers, Jack Wilson and Joe Cully Wilson; and one sister, Naomi Sue Wilson.

She is survived by two sons: Keith Lumpmouth of El Reno, and Robert Brian Milam of Moore; two daughters: Rhonda J. Milam of Midwest City, and Jane Elizabeth McGehee of Seneca, Mo.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Milam is also survived by four brothers: Johnny Wilson of Kadoka, S.D., Steve Wilson of Holdenville, Paul Wilson of Midwest City, and Simon L. Wilson of Holdenville; two sisters: Elsie Dickey of Midwest City, and Josephine Wilson of Ada.

Chris Mills

Longtime Seminole County resident and Chief of Police, Chris Mills passed away, Friday, May 19, 2006 at the age of 51. He was born June 24, 1954 in Springfield, Mo. to Louis and Grace (Squibb) Mills.

Funeral services were held yesterday at 10 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Cline and Gus Monreal officiating. Burial was today at 2 p.m., at White Chapel Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. with Pastor Steve Cline officiating.

He has been a police officer for over 30 years, serving as Chief of Police in Willard, Mo. and Walnut Grove Police Department. He also worked for the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, and was currently serving as Chief of Police of the Seminole Police Department where he served for eight years.

Chris is survived by his son, Shad Mills of Warren, Pa.; brother, Wayne Mills of Indianapolis and three sisters, Helen Taylor of Indianapolis, twin sister, Christine Price of Springfield, Mo. and Nancy Mills of Springfield, Mo.

A niece and two nephews, Jeremy and Ashley Price of Springfield, Mo. and Ronnie Taylor of Indianapolis, also survive him.

His parents precede him in death.

Pallbearers for the services were Tommy Mackey, Terry Thomason, Brad Willis, Jerry Houck, Charles Sisco, Joe Craig, Charley Webster, and "Slim" Crabtree.

Honorary Bearers will be the Seminole Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff's Department.

In memory of Chris memorial contributions may be made to the Seminole Police Chaplain Fund, P.O. Box 1030, Seminole, OK 74868.

Walter Dub Mills

A graveside memorial for Seminole County native Walter "Dub" Mills will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Little Cemetery in Seminole.

Local services are being directed by Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Walter Clark "Dub" Mills of San Angelo, Texas, passed away at home on Thursday, April 13, 2006 after a prolonged illness. He was 81 years old.

Dub was born on April 26, 1924, in Little, Okla., to Rufus Melvin and Bertie Mae Mills.

He married Betty Doris Phillips on Oct. 24, 1959, in Seminole. Dub was a long-time member of The Heights Baptist Church.

Dub served as a radio operator and gunner on the crew of a B-26 Marauder in the 443rd Squadron, 320th Bomb Group of United States Army Air Forces during World War II, flying combat missions over Germany and France. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant.

After his discharge from the Army Air Forces, Dub worked for 12 years as a welder for Dresser Industries, helping build energy-related facilities in the southwest and on the Great Plains.

He joined Northern Natural Gas Company (which later became InterNorth Inc.) as a pipeline welder in 1958 and retired as the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor of its El Dorado District in 1984.

He was the co-inventor of two patented tools that siphon liquids from natural gas pipelines.

Dub is survived by his wife, Betty Mills of San Angelo, Texas; daughter, Debra Powers and her husband Lan of Midland, Texas; son, Rex Mills and his wife Rosanne of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters and their husbands, Jamie Blevins and Mike Die of Kyle, Texas, Tammie and D.J. Domangue of San Angelo, Texas, and Tonya Blevins and Paul Doyle of San Angelo, Texas; two grandsons, Andrew and Peter Mills of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kaden Garcia of San Angelo, Texas and Emma Die of Kyle, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sue Mills; ten sisters, Willie Barnwell, Beulah Barnwell, Rena Hill, Viola Mills, Johnie Mae Parrish, Sissie Polk, Annie Harris, Luciel Duboise, Edna Parrish, and Ada West; and twelve brothers, John, Jim, Harry, R.A., George, Bud, Loyd, Claud, Jack, Bob, and Don Mills, and an infant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Heights Baptist Church.

Mildred Mixon

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Clara Mildred "Ashby" Mixon are scheduled for today at Hillcrest Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, Calif.

Mixon died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 in Fresno, Calif. at the age of 90. She was born Sept. 24, 1915 to Walter and Eva (Johnson) Ashby.

She attended school at Wolf Wing and Wolf School. She met Brown Mixon of Central School – Punkin Center, east of Maud and they married.

The couple lived in the Wolf area for some time before moving to California to find work. They lived in Shafter, Tehachapi, Wasco and Bakersfield.

For nearly 69 years they were inseparable. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Her parents; husband (Sept. 10, 2001); one son, Larry Mixon; two brothers, Ellis Ashby and Roy Ashby and two sisters, Ina Ashby and Lena Buchanan.

Surviving is one daughter, Dorothy Medlock of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Wilma Wylie of Midwest City and Betty Buchanan of Seminole and one brother, Homer Ashby of Wichita, Kan.

Agnes Mocabee

Funeral services for Konawa native and former resident Agnes M. Mocabee are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Konawa.

Rev. Mitch Williams is to officiate and interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Mocabee, 88 of Pea Ridge, Ark., passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 at northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Aug. 27, 1917 in Konawa to Oscar and Lula (Heard) Hankins.

On Jan. 5, 1955 she married Robert Mocabee in Seminole County. She lived in California for many years.

She retired from Cutter Laboratories in Berkley, Calif. and attended the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark.

Her parents, husband, son Ralph Ward (Sept. 1, 2005) and six brothers and sisters preceded her n death.

Surviving are two daughters, Delores Meade of Rosemead, Calif. and Joyce Ward of Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Ward of Pea Ridge, Ark.; stepson, George Mocabee of Laverne, Calif.; one sister, Opal Head of California; nine grandchildren, Steven Meade, Scott Meade, Sherry Abbott, Vicky Cooper, Kathy McIntosh, Gary McIntosh, Dale Ward, Bruce Ward and Marina Buttry; four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Norma Moon

Graveside services for former Sasakwa resident Norma R. (Garrison) Moon are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Moon, 86, of Apple Valley, Calif. died Monday, July 31, 2006. She was born May 16, 1920 in Wetumka to Everett and Effie Garrison.

On July 11, 1940 she married James Lonnie Moon and she spent her life as a homemaker in Hobbs, N.M. and Sasakwa. She has lived in Apple Valley, Calif. for the past year.

Moon drove a school bus at Hobbs for many years. She barbered at both the Sanger Street and Triangle Barbershops along with her husband, Lonnie. She was also a custodian for Byng Schools, Byng, for five years.

Her husband; parents; two sisters, Wilma Fine and Edna Waunelda Roundtree and a brother-in-law, Stanley Hastings preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, James R. Moon and wife, Ethel, of Apple Valley, Calif.; two daughters, Patty Clardy and Terry of Hobbs, N.M. and Pamela Foote and husband Robert of Oklahoma City; a sister, Ruby Mae Hasting of Hobbs, N.M. and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cecilia Moore

Graveside services are scheduled for Wewoka resident Cecilia (Tyler) Moore for 10 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Michael Vallandingham officiating.

The family will be at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday to receive any visitors who wish to come by.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Moore passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006. She was born Nov. 29, 1916 in Wewoka to John Read Moore and Julia Howard Embrey Moore.

She graduated from Wewoka High School in 1934 and after graduation she attended Georgetown College, Georgetown, Ky., receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1938 along with an artist’s diploma in music pianoforte.

Moore taught school in Wewoka and later attended the Atlanta Art Institute in Atlanta, Ga. She received her master’s degree in 1952 and for her thesis she painted a mural at the Decatur First Baptist Church in Decatur, Ga., titled "World Peace Through Christianity."

She returned to make her home in Wewoka to take care of her parents until their deaths. For the past two years she was a resident of Fountain View Manor in Henryetta, where she received loving care.

Moore was a member of the Wewoka First Baptist Church and will be remembered for her love of cats and generosity to her church and those in need.

Her parents; sister, Jane Moore Kethley of Decatur, Ga. and a nephew, John Bryan Kethley of Clinton, Ga. preceded her in death.

Surviving is nephew, Bill and his wife Caroline Kethley; nieces, Dorothy Jane Kethley Allen of Athens, Ga. and Judith Kethley (widow of John Kethley) of Clinton, Ga.; six great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

Robin Moore

Funeral services for Earlsboro resident Robin "D" Anna Conway-Moore are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment is to follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Moore, 39, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 11, 1967 in Shawnee to Clarence Conway Sr. and Alversa (Gaulding) Hardiman.

She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Earlsboro.

Her paternal grandparents, Joe and Mary Conway and maternal grandparents, Russell and Alberta Gaulding preceded her in death.

Surviving are former husbands, Henry Moore and Thomas Baton; her mother, Alversa Hardiman of Oklahoma City; father, Clarence Conway Sr. of Oklahoma City; maternal grandmother, Lurena Douglas of Shawnee; son, Zackery Conway of Bethany; five daughters, Vernesia Conway of Del City, Cherrelle, Shatia and Shamika Conway of Bethany, Tanisha Conway of New Mexico; three brothers, Russell Gaulding of Bethany, Adriane Gaulding and Clarence Conway Jr., both of Oklahoma City and one sister, Lurena Russell of Bethany.
