Bessie Neal

Graveside services for lifelong Konawa resident Bessie Mae (Boltin) Neal are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Konawa Cemetery with Rev. Pam Shirk officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Neal, 97, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at Boyce Manor Nursing Home in Holdenville. She was born Dec. 27, 1908 in Konawa to Arthur A. and Rachel Prudence (Moore) Boltin.

On Dec. 12, 1926 she married Lewis Edward Neal in Konawa and was a homemaker.

Her husband (July 29, 1972); parents; one son, Robert; one daughter, Kathryn; one grandson, Lewis Ray; one granddaughter, Sue; one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son, Darrell Neal of Konawa; one daughter, Dorothy Ringgold of Holdenville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Joe Dale Nelson

Funeral services for former Seminole area resident Joe Dale Nelson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Prague.

Bro. Tim Emmons is to officiate with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Joe was born on Aug. 13, 1938 in Snomac, Okla., and departed this life on Sunday, April 9, 2006 in Prague at the age of 67.

He was the son of Carl Harold and Ruby (Rayburn) Nelson and was a resident of Prague since 1977. Prior to moving to Prague, he was a Seminole area resident.

On July 25, 1956 he married Veva Franklin in Seminole.

Joe served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an owner/operator in the trucking business, co-owner of V&V Floral and a member of the First Baptist Church, Prague.

His parents; one brother, Bob Newberry and one sister, Doris Miller preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Veva Nelson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and John Henson of Wewoka and Donna and Bobby Tanner of Cushing; grandchildren, Mandi Coker of Seminole, Scot Winlock of Tulsa, Nathan and Jeremy Winlock of Seminole, Dugan Henson of Seminole, Brandon Pennel and wife Jennise, of Moore, Stacy Pennel of Perkins, Bryan Pennel of Prague, Philip Tanner of Edmond, Julie Tanner of Dallas, Texas, Stephen Tanner and wife Mari of Kyoto, Japan and Aaron and Nick Tanner of Cushing and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving Joe special brother-in-law, Sonny Miller of Seminole, who helped in Joe’s upbringing.

Larry Newby

Funeral services for Seminole resident Larry Gene Newby, 60, formerly of the Ada area, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel,

Rev. Frank Moppin will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada

A family meal will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Chickasaw Community Center Gymnasium.

Mr. Newby died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 near Seminole. He was born March 4, 1946 at Oil Center, Okla. to Melvin and Hazel Brecheen Newby.

He attended school at Bebee and Vanoss and married Janie Porter on Dec. 1, 2001 in Anadarko.

Mr. Newby was a carpenter and later was a self-employed contract pumper for 35 years.

He was an ordained minister and was involved in the jail ministry in Seminole County. He attended Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Mr. Newby served in the United States Army Reserve for six years and the National Guard for one year.

His father, Melvin Newby, and a brother, Rev. Don Newby, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Janie Newby, of the home; two daughters, Renee Newby, Oklahoma City and Angela Evans and her husband Ray, Seminole; two sons, Shane Newby, Seminole and Brad Willis, Seminole; his mother, Hazel Newby Mercer, Oil Center; one brother, Ron Newby and his wife Zena, Oil Center; two step-sons, J. W. Porter and his wife Catherine, Wilburton and Mick Porter, Ada.

In addition, 13 grandchildren, Caleb and Micah Evans, Justen and Tiffany Burns, Michaela, Mariah and Mallory Porter, Teresa, Cassidy, and Van Porter, Portal Bellamy, and Brittany and Sean Willis; and many other relatives and friends survive him.

Bearers will be John Lewis, Perry Floyd, Vernon Isaacs, Tom Waller, Som Sengupta and Darrell Newby.

Honorary bearers will be Steve Newby, Bryan Lyon, Ray Evans, Stan Lemons, Steve Brinker, and Jerry McDaniel.

Lillian Newby

Graveside services for Earlsboro resident Lillian Newby are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Little Chapel at Little Cemetery with Larry Chesser Jr. of Faith Hospice officiating.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Newby, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006 at her residence. She was born April 3, 1924 in Earlsboro to Pleas Lindsay and Ola (Hadley) Lindsay.

She was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed watching television and playing with her dog.

Her parents, five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

Surviving is her son, Keith Newby of the home and three sisters, Dora Rowell of Seminole, Rose May Lovett of Shawnee and Carol Dunham of Texas.

Nancy Newcomb

A memorial service for former Seminole County resident Nancy Jane (Hook) Newcomb is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at john Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.

Newcomb, 57, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born and raised in the Strother Community to Ed and Marie Hook.

Surviving are her children, Deana Carter and Kenneth Carter and sisters, Glenna Guinn and Ann Hester.

Pauline Newman

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Pauline Dorris Newman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Rev. Don Smith and Rev. Dan factor are to officiate with Rev. Larry Chesser to assist.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Pauline Dorris (Langwell) Newman, age 71, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006 in Wewoka. She was born July 1, 1934 in Seminole to Floyd and Bessie (Burfield) Langwell.

She was raised in the Wewoka area and graduated from Butner High School and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Wewoka.

Pauline and Jim Newman were married March 11, 1950 in Wewoka and the couple owned and operated a construction company for a number of years.

Her parents; husband, Jim; three sisters; two brothers and one son-in-law, Sammy Robertson preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Sue and James Lunsford and Glenda "Sissie" Robertson; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Jr. and Quanah Newman; grandchildren, Josh Lunsford, Jamie and Chad Mastny, Derek and Shelly Robertson, Dani Robertson, Mandi and Marty Moody, Angel and Doug Rogers, Whitney Newman and Tina Newman.

In addition, surviving there are 11 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Hunter and Taylor Lunsford, Kadey, Gabey and Brody Moody, Raleigh Lemons and Kaysley Rogers, Sammy and Glade Robertson and Raegan Mastny and brother, Curtis Langwell.

Stella (Cornett) Newman

Funeral services for longtime Bowlegs resident Stella Levell (Cornett) Newman are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Rev. Roy Robertson is set to officiate the service. Burial is scheduled to follow, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole.

Newman died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at the Golden Rule Nursing Home of Shawnee, at the age of 86.

She was born May 23, 1920, in Tennessee, to John W. Cornett and Pearl Mae (Ingram) Cornett.

She married William "Clarence" Newman on Oct. 29, 1938, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2003.

Newman was a homemaker, and also owned her own sno-cone stand in the 1970s in Bowlegs. She also loved to crochet.

She was a member of the Assembly of God church in Bowlegs.

Newman was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, William Newman; one great-granddaughter, Angie Sharber Doyle; and 15 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Sharber, of Winfall, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Cherlye Newman, of Tecumseh; five grandchildren: Peggy Brumley, Mike Sharber, and Pam Reeder, all of Indiana, Ricky Newman of Tecumseh, and Randy Newman of Bethel Acres; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Michael Newson-Louie

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Michael Dan'te Newson-Louie "Smurf" are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with Pastors Raymond Wood and Gilbert Reece officiating.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Michael Dan'te Newson-Louie "Smurf", 36, passed from this life Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 in Tahlequah. He was born March 15, 1970 in Stanford, Calif.

"Smurf" was a member of the Church of Christ in California and had attended Seminole High School and graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1988.

He then attended Seminole State College and Northeastern University.

"Smurf" moved to Tahlequah about six years ago where he had an auto detailing business.

His grandmother Betty Louie and infant son, Kash Dan’te Newson, precedes him in death.

Survivors include his parents, Barbara Newson Louie and Toris Louie both of Seminole; three sons, Quinton and Trinton Newson of Wewoka, and Caden Newson of Seminole; five brothers, Xavier L. Louie of Tulsa, Myron E. Louie of Shawnee, Ryan M. Louie of Kansas, Lord Rion Louie of Seminole and Jerone Rogers of California; one sister, Aiko D. Louie of Tulsa, and spouse Jennifer Azlin of the home.

He is also survived by three stepsisters, Bridgett Louis of California, Sarah Louie of Seminole and Amia Louie of Oklahoma City and three stepbrothers, Juan Louie of California, Brian Louie of California, and Keith Louie of California.

Casket bearers will be Bob Burris, Lamar Puckett, Gregory "Buckey" Reese, Stanley Hill, Phil Edwards and DeMatris Burris.

Honorary bearers will be Eddie Louie, Alvin Fabre, Jermane Weaver, Doug Burris, Grover Johnson and Johnny Bruner.

Robert Nicol

Private family services will be held with the family of Bowlegs resident Robert Vernon Nichol.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Nichol, 77, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee. He was born Oct. 1, 1929 in Houston, Texas to Roy Vernon Nichol and Jessie Mary (Goodman) Nichol.

He moved to the Seminole County area about four months ago from El Campo, Texas in order to spend time with his daughter.

Nichol served in the United States Air force as a drill sergeant during World War II. He worked for Monganto Pipelines in League City, Texas as a pipe fitter until his retirement.

His parents and one sister, Emilia Erleen Rothwell preceded him in death.

Surviving is his daughter, Stacey Grounds of Bowlegs; one sister, Jessie "Polly" Cousten of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
