Roger Porter

Private family services for Konawa resident Roger dale Porter will be held at a later time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Porter, 55, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at his residence. He was born Dec. 1, 1950 in Oklahoma City to Delbert and Bell Victoria "Pruitt" Porter.

He was a retired mechanic and was of the Baptist faith.

His parents, two brothers, L.D. and Eugene Porter and two sisters, Geraldine Porter and Shirilan Foreman preceded him in death.

Surviving is one brother, Kenneth Lee Porter of Elk City and four sisters, Joyce Porter of Brooksville, Wanda Atkinson of Muskogee, Loveta Barnett of Amarillo, Texas and Juanita Moore of Chickasha.

James Powers

Memorial services for Varnum High School graduate James Robert "Jim" Powers are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Father John Norvell will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.

Mr. Powers, 65, of Stonewall, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1941 in Shawnee to James Albert and Doris Rudine Flournoy Powers.

He attended school at Roosevelt and Goodhope and graduated from Varnum High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from East Central University, and a minor in Economics.

On May 27, 1962 he married Linda Roberts in Ada.

Mr. Powers was the Chief Operations Officer at Valley View Regional Hospital, retiring in 2004, after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ada and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Powers, of the home; a daughter, Vicki Washburn and husband Keith, Shawnee; a son, James Robert Powers, Jr.; a brother, Rex Powers and wife Earlean, Wewoka; sister, Gayla Heckman, Stratford; two granddaughters, Amanda Kiest and Jamie Kiest; and numerous other relatives.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Diabetes or Kidney research, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104-9930.

Vanetia Powers

Graveside services for former Tecumseh resident Vanetia Ann Rosebud Powers were held at 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park (Trinity Chapel) with Jimmy Don Gibson officiating.

Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Vanetia was born on May 6, 1935 in Tecumseh to William Arlet Rosebud and Alice Grace Rosebud. She graduated from Varnum High School in Seminole.

She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006.

Vanetia worked for many years at Shawnee Regional Hospital and was a member of Tranquil Moments Water Garden. She enjoyed being with her friends and family.

Her parents, grandparents and brother, Bill Rosebud preceded her in death.

She leaves her husband, Jack D. Powers of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Doak of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jeri Oldham of Tecumseh and son, Calvin Oldham of Tecumseh; two step-daughters, Karen and Art Wells and Sharon and Sam Slattery; one step-son, Gary Don and Sana Powers; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lorettia Shepherd of Bethel acres and LaWanda and Frank Adamson of Tecumseh.

Vanetia also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, families and friends that will miss her presence greatly.

She showed unconditional love for her family and friends, she loved them all dearly and will be greatly missed.

Vera Faye Prater

Funeral services for Seminole resident Vera Faye (Luckinbill) Prater are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Historic Strothers Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole.

Rev. Doyle Long will officiate with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m.

Mrs. Prater, 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee. He was born Sept. 8, 1921 in Murrphy, Okla. to Albert Edward Luckinbill and Ada Mae (Stamper) Luckinbill.

Vera married Raymond Andrew "Ray" Prater in Seminole in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She graduated from Varnum High School in 1939.

Mrs. Prater was an interior designer who in the late 80’s did the interior makeover at the Grisso Mansion, as well as many other large projects.

She moved back to Seminole in the late 1980’s from Wichita Falls, Texas and attended the First Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Seminole Arts Council.

Her parents (father died in 1975 and her mother died in 1993 at the age of 100), one sister Norma Jean "Jeannie" Gossa (1992) and her niece Patricia Ogden-Stockton (1977) preceded her in death.

Surviving are two stepsons, Dale Prater of Bixby and Ronnie Prater of Michie, Tenn.; one sister, Leona Maxwell of Seminole; one niece, Colleen Fletcher of Seminole; three great-nieces, Teresa Norman, Kim Decker and Cindy Rudich, all of Seminole; three great-nephews, Terry Fletcher of Seminole, Bob Fletcher of Maud and Steve Fletcher of Bixby and several step-grandchildren.

Harold Priest

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Harold D. Priest are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Factor officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery with full military honors.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Priest, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 in Sulphur at the Veterans Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1925 in Hugo to Andy and Vinnie Mae (Standridge) Priest.

He worked for Claybrook Drilling as a roughneck for a number of years and was of the Baptist faith.

Priest was a member of the National rifle Association and National Federal Coon Hunters Association.

He enjoyed coon hunting and playing dominoes and collected guns and knives.

Priest served in the United States Navy in World War II and was a bodyguard in North Africa for Vice-Avner Hewitt and Avner Bomo.

His parents and brother, Bill Priest preceded him in death.

Surviving is his sister-in-law, Gloria Priest; cousins, Paul and David Priest of Miami, Fla. and special friends, John Young, Rhonda Pitts and Raymond Ward, all of Wewoka.

Jackie Qualls

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Jackie Ray Qualls are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Park Brothers Funeral Service.

Qualls, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2006 in Holdenville. He was born in Lincoln County on July 16, 1939 to Edgar Troy and Gertrude (Rowland) Qualls.

His mother and two brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving is his father, Edgar Troy Qualls of Seminole; two brothers, Paul Qualls of Oklahoma City and Roy Qualls of Waco, Texas and three sisters, Karen King of Bowlegs, Louise Qualls and Millie Aldridge, both of Little.

Dorothy Quinalty

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Dorothy Patricia (Lewis) Quinalty are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.

Pastor Roy Robertson officiated the service with interment at Little Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Quinalty, 83, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1922 in Emporia, Kan. to John Enoch Lewis and Ada Mildred (Bennett) Lewis.

She married John Wesley Quinalty in Seminole in 1938. She was a homemaker and had attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Seminole before attending Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

Her parents; husband; son, David Quinalty; two daughters, Lois Virginia Lee (2006) and Elizabeth Quinalty (1959); two brothers, Glenn Lewis and Joe Lewis; one sister, Vera Henderson; two grandsons and one great-grandson preceded her n death.

Surviving are three sons, Stephen, Stanley and Mark Christopher Quinalty all of Seminole; four daughters, Patricia Stevens of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ada Mae Ferguson and Vera Roberts, both of Seminole and Roberta Morgan of Harrah; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Virgil E. Quinalty

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Virgil E. Quinalty are set for 2 p.m. April 12, 2006, at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Rev. Bill Fent is set to officiate.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home.

Quinalty died April 8, 2006, at the age of 88, at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa.

He was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Booneville, Ark., to Dess Mundundee and Ethel Mae (Littrell) Quinalty.

He married Mary Ida Bowen on Jan. 16, 1940, in Seminole.

Quinalty worked for Yuba Heat for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God church in Tulsa, where he served as a deacon for about 20 years. He was involved in prison ministry.

Quinalty was preceded in death by his wife, on Dec. 6, 1989; his parents; three brothers, Lewey, Daniel, and John; and one sister, Juanita.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy LeMaster, of Turley, and Janice Galloway of Lonetree, Colo.; two sons, Virgil Quinalty Jr., Tulsa, and Larry E. Quinalty of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Jim Quinalty, Bill Quinalty, and Floyd Quinalty, all of Seminole.

Musical selections for the funeral service will include "He’ll Do it Again, " "Amazing Grace, " and "I’ll Fly Away."

Casket bearers are listed as Roberty Quinalty, Ronnie Quinalty, Doug Evans and Michael Galloway.

Shirley Ramey

Graveside services for Seminole native Shirley Jean (Brown) Ramey are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Rick Harrison officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Ramey, 70, of Bowlegs, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born Nov. 24, 1935 in Seminole to Rufus T. Brown and Delois "Lois" (Pitts) Brown.

She has lived in Seminole County most of her life except for living in Edmond for about seven and a half years.

Aug. 15, 1960 she married Bobby B. Ramey in Gainesville; he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2005. Her father also preceded her in death.

Surviving is her mother, Lois Brown of Hennessey; three sons, Greg Luper of Hennessey, Mike Luper of Edmond and Bobby Garner of Bowlegs; one daughter, Lisa Stivers of Bowlegs; one brother, Johnny Brown of Enid; one sister, Sharon Craun of Tulsa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Agatha Ray

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Agatha B. Ray are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. Forrest Weast officiating.

Interment is to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, Henryetta, under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

Ray, 80 of Shawnee, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006 at her home. She was born July 11, 1926 on Colton, Okla. to Aubrey Thorne and Ione (Farrar) Thorne.

She graduated from a Tulsa high school and on March 22, 1946 in Tulsa she married James Ray.

Ray was a homemaker who moved to Shawnee two years ago. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, quilting, bowling, shopping and cooking.

Her parents and a brother, Harold Thorne preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; two children, Linda Sepulveda of Shawnee and Lewis Ray of Sapulpa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three brothers, Edwin, Raymond and Dale Thorne.
