Funeral service for Seminole resident Rita Carol Sanders are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Long and Rev. Forest Weast to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Sanders, 63, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 in Seminole. She was born Aug. 31, 1942 in Cape Town, South Africa to Dirk William Christian Dixon and Maria Catherine (Williamson) Dixon.
She married David Carl Sanders on Sept. 3, 1983 in Muskogee and was a supervisor at Gossard Underwear Factory in South Africa for SA Gossard pty Ltd.
Sanders moved to Seminole 18 years ago from Ft. Gibson, Okla. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Seminole.
Five sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, David Carl sanders of Seminole; two brothers, Colin Dixon and Edwin Dixon, both of South Africa and two sisters, Cassandra Pastor and Norma Smith, both of South Africa.
Casket bearers for the services will be Grant Martin, Zach Zedd, Richard Ortley, Gilbert Reese, Dennis Adams and Johnny Grandstaff.
Honorary bearers will be Sonny Miller, Brodrick "Ouma’s Boy" Martin and Jazmine Martin.
Ronald Lee Sanders
Longtime Seminole resident, Ronald Lee Sanders, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at the age of 57. He was born in Oklahoma City on March 28, 1948 to Nova Joyce(Waddle) and Walter Wayne Sanders.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 20 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Seminole with Rev. Lynn Borrego officiating.
Ron married Jeanette "Jan" (Oliva) Sanders on Dec. 27, 1972 in Midwest City.
He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1966 and Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy at Weatherford in 1977.
He served in the United States Navy and worked as a pharmacist at Seminole, Shawnee and Holdenville Wal-Mart for over 23 years. He was an avid photographer and loved to travel.
Ron is survived by his wife, Jan of the home; son, Jaesen Sanders who is enlisted in the U.S. Army and stationed at Ft. Sill, Okla.; his mother and father-in-law, Milo and Gloria Oliva of Shawnee; five brothers, Melvin Calhoun of Norman, Russell Morgan of San Francisco, Calif., Blair Morgan of Mustang, Craig Morgan of Moore, and Bryan Morgan of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law and her husband, John and Diana McCarthy of Midwest City; brother-in-law and wife, Bruce and Judy Oliva of Albuquerque, N.M. and a host of nieces nephews and dear friends.
Honorary Bearers will be; John McCarthy, John Seavey, Dan Smart, Bruce Oliva, Ed Bender, Don Cotterman, Dan Smart, Donald Pyeatt, and Doug Henry.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Mark’s Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.
Leathian Sanderson
Funeral services for Seminole native Leathian Sanderson are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Wannamaker Baptist Church in Dover, Okla.
Rev. Edmond Rollins is to officiate with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid.
Services are under the direction of Russworm Funeral Home, Enid.
Sanderson, 84, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. She was born on Aug. 27, 1921 in Seminole to Thomas Street and Isabelle Lottie.
She grew up and attended Wewoka Schools and she met and married Rev. Cecil Sanderson.
Sanderson was an active member of Wannamaker Baptist Church and of her community. She was a member of the Usher Board, treasurer of the Usher Board and a Missionary.
She worked for the Colonial Manor Nursing Center and retired from Carver Educational Center as a grandparent aide. Sanderson also loved to train horses in her spare time.
Her parents, husband and one son, Marshall Sanderson preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons, Cecil (Candy) Sanderson of Woodward, LoRoy Sanderson and Henry (Kim) Sanderson, both of Aurora, Colo. and Ellis Sanderson of Denver, Colo.
Beverly Sarber
Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Beverly Jo Sarber are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Beverly Jo Sarber passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 in Tulsa following a short-term illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1930 in Shawnee and raised in Wewoka with her sister, Betty who preceded her in death.
Beverly married Guy Bart Kiker and raised two daughters, Alice and Karen and lived in Oklahoma City for a number of years before returning to live in Wewoka.
She married Warren Sarber in 1982 and was preceded in death by him.
Beverly cared for her mother, Ruby Willhoite until her death in 1996.
Through the years, Beverly worked part-time in a bank in Oklahoma City, part-time at Looney’s in Wewoka and was at one time a bookkeeper for the Siler Music Company.
She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.
In earlier years Beverly enjoyed visiting her daughter Karen in California, short trips to the horse races, and fishing with family and friends.
She always looked forward to her Wewoka High School reunions and visiting with old friends.
Beverly enjoyed her early morning visits with her good friends at the drug store, particularly Dale
Williams and Marge Coley, she truly appreciated the loving attention given to her by her niece Susan Siler.
Many joyful holidays and visits were spent at Alice’s home in Tulsa with her family.
Her dog and best companion, Ling will be lovingly cared for by her grand children, Angela and Tyler.
She was always grateful to Dr. Walker and the kindness he showed to Ling through the years.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Alice Turnbow and Karen Kiker; her niece Susan Siler Smith and her grandchildren, Tyler and Angela Turnbow. We will miss her.
Doyle Satterlee
Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Doyle Dean Satterlee are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in Eldorado, Kan.
Service is under the direction of Moore’s Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, and family visitation has been set for 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel.
Satterlee, 74, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. He was born March 26, 1931 in Seminole County to Maro Wales and Madolin (Atteberry) Satterlee.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and earned a Purple Heart. Later, Satterlee worked as a mechanic and retired as warehouse supervisor for the Civil Service.
Surviving are four children, Rick, Carrol and Shirley, all of Los Angeles, Calif. and Ron of Corpus Christi, Texas and sister, Darline Hyden of Tulsa.

Jewell Saylor
Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident Jewell M. Saylor are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Saylor passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 at The Golden Rule Nursing Home in Shawnee, Okla. at the age 83. She was born on Aug. 27, 1922 in Alabama to W.C. "Cleve" and Ramey (Trim) Black.
Jewell married Elvis Harold Saylor on Nov. 17, 1940 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2002.
She was a housemother at St. Gregory's College for many years.
Her son, Harold Saylor Jr. of Shawnee; one sister, Kathryn Jones of Noble and two grandsons, Sean and Shane Saylor of San Francisco, Calif, survive her.
Her parents, husband and four brothers precede her in death.
Debra Scallorn
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Debra Rae (Bowles) Scallorn are schedule for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Cline officiating.
Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Debra Rae (Bowles) Scallorn passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at the age of 50. She was currently residing in McLoud, Okla. She was born on July 17, 1956 to Raymond and Helen (Belveal) Bowles in Seminole.
She worked for Linc Cowen Construction Company in Shawnee and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole. She was also a member of the International Boar Goat Association for several years.
She enjoyed farming on her farm she named "Thornberry Hill Farms" in McLoud where she raised chickens and goats. She also loved quilting and sewing.
Her parents, Raymond and Helen Bowles, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, John Scallorn of McLoud and three sisters, Mary Johnson of Shawnee, Nancy Rutherford of Seminole and Beth Bowles of Eufaula, Oklahoma.
Nieces, Jodi Bowles, Fawn Rutherford, Callie Shepherd, Kayitlynn Brumett, and a host of other family and friends also survive her.
Pallbearers will be; Jerod Marshall, Jimmy Nelson, Mike Lindsey, Quinton Ostien, Eddie Nelson and Jeff Cherry.
Amos Oscar Schonfield
Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Amos Oscar Schonfield are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Rev. John Ewers is set to officiate, with arrangements under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Schonfield died March 6, 2006, in Shawnee, at the age of 84.
He was born March 9, 1921, in Bristow, to Harry and Alta (Noel) Schonfield.
Schonfield attended Bristow schools and worked as an oilfield mechanic for Atlantic Oil Company.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in California and attended the Senior Citizens Center in Wewoka.
He married Pat Grimes on June 15, 1969, in Ada.
Schonfield was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife Pat, of the Shawnee home; one brother, Homer Schonfield, Bristow; two sons, Terry Blackwell of Seminole and Phillip Williams Jr. of Shawnee; four daughters, Sherry Koskela of Seminole, Debra Wurtz of Wewoka, Kay Deerwester of Wewoka, and Marilyn Starkey of Shawnee; four children from a previous marriage; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Those listed as pallbearers for Schonfield are Bobby Silva, Terry Blackwell Jr., Rick Wurtz, T.J. Ratliff, Randy Ratliff, and Phillips Williams III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Blackwell, Tom Coddington II, Phillip Featherston, Trevor Blackwell, Austin Starkey, and River Ward.
