LAWTON — Services for Tom Nothaf, 97, Lawton, formerly of Stonewall, are pending with Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Nothaf died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Lawton.

JIM J. GRISSOM
ADA — Services for Jim J. Grissom, 77, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at the River of Life Church, the Rev. Charles Dial will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Grissom died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Ada. He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Ada to John and Nora Reecer Grissom. He graduated from Ada High School.

Mr. Grissom married Barbara JoAnn Matteson in 1963. She died Feb. 24, 2000. He was a mechanic for Remington Arms Company in Ada, retiring in 1990. Mr. Grissom was a member of the River of Life Church and he served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and also in the Merchant Marines.

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Burnett and husband Ron, Francis and Lois Edgin, Marshfield, Mass.; a brother, Harley Grissom, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael Burnett, Seminole, Ryan Edgin, Marshfield, Mass., Ian Edgin, Marshfield, Mass, John Burnett, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Aaron Edgin, Marshfield, Mass; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Bearers will be Michael Burnett, Tim Churchwell, Wayne Grissom, Troy Byrd, Larry Byrd and Jerry Cox.

DENNIS HARRIS
FRANCIS — Services for Loyd Dennis Harris, 58, Francis, were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Joe Dixon officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis.

Mr. Harris died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1946, at Ada to Loyd “Babe” and Lorene Maranda Canfield Harris. He lived in the Francis area all his life. He attended the Byng school system and graduated from Byng High School in 1965.

Mr. Harris was employed with Ada Heating and Air for 10 years, self-employed for eight years as a plumber, Bemax Supply Company for 10 years and three years with the Byng school maintenance department.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Harris, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Maranda Rodriguez, Sand Springs; mother, Lorene Harris, Francis; grandchildren, Kailyn Harris, Gabriel Rodriguez and Chloe Rodriguez; two brothers, Tim Harris and wife Trisha, Francis and Jerald Harris and wife Tricia, Francis; two sisters, Susan Scroggins and husband Robert, Francis and Rita Harris, Ada.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Babe Harris.

Bearers will be Tim Harris, Jerald Harris, Robert Scroggins, Dennis Harris, Cody Harris and Israel Rodriguez.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to McCortney Family Hospice, 725 Arlington, Ada, OK 74820.

HAROLD HANKS
ARCHER CITY, Texas — Private memorial services for Harold J. Hanks, 77, Archer City, Texas, will be held at a later date under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home, Archer City. He died Feb. 1, 2005, at a Wichita Falls, Texas hospital.

Mr. Hanks was born April 20, 1927, to Wince M. and Sybil Harris Hanks in Calvin, Okla. He attended school in Calvin until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a scuba diver and mine sweeper. After his tour of duty, he returned to Oklahoma where he met and married Marjorie Lee on June 1, 1947, in Holdenville, Okla.

He owned and operated Hanks Bit Service in Holdenville and Ada, Okla, from 1959 until moving the business to Archer City in the late 1980s. He was a member of Ada First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Ira Jones Post 198 of the American Legion in Archer City and a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of the home; two daughters, Sherry Lee Allen and husband, Michael of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Jennifer Susan Edelman and husband, Harold of Carson City, Nev.; one son, Harold Mark Hanks and wife, Cindy of Oregon; one sister, Dorothy Osburn and husband, Dutch of Mountainburg, Ark.; four grandchildren, Marcie Campagnola and husband, Chad of Larkspur, Colo., Kris Edelman, and Kim Hickson both of Carson City, Nev., and David Hanks of Oregon; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hayley, Justin, and Katherine.

MICHAEL ALLISON
Michael Cudahy Allison, born at Allen, Oklahoma to Wade Henry and Alice (Keel) Allison November 11, 1910 and went to join our LORD January 23, 2005. He and mother were united in marriage February 7, 1937 and were blessed with their children, Michael Gerry and Sheryl Ann. He was preceded in death by son Michael Gerry, mother and father, brothers Cornish Allison and Bob Allison, Ada; Calvin Allison, Allen, Oklahoma; sisters Mae Alexander, Oklahoma City, Thelma Brumley, Panole, California; Vadare Justice and Hilda Malone, Allen, Oklahoma, Judy Campbell, Stonewall, OK, and nephew, Billy Joe Alexander, Oklahoma City. Mike is survived by his wife Imogene and daughter Sheryl Ann “Shawn” Jones and daughter Joy, Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews: Pat Bowman Brumley, Panole, California; Glenn Brumley, Temple, California; Oren Alexander, Okarche; William Alexander, Oklahoma City; Ruby Winters, Tulsa; Gary and Larry Whitaker, Houston, TX; Norman Fallin, Jr., El Paso, TX; Kenneth Fallin, Nacogdoches, TX; Bob and Don Allison, Allen, OK and devoted companion Tiffany. He attended school at Conway, Oklahoma, Chilloco Indian School, and Byng High School, 1933. He was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church for 53 years serving as Sunday School teacher and deacon, and a member of the Gideons International and Royal Ambassadors. During his life he was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, Last Frontier Council, for 62 years. He was Explorer Advisor for Post 123 for many of those years. Mike received the Silver Beaver award, the highest award bestowed upon a scout leader. He was recipient of the Scouter’s Key, Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge; and a Charter member of the Camp Masters Corp. at Camp Kickapoo for over 40 years. He was a Scout advisor for 55 years in the OU football ushering program. He personally organized and led seven different high adventure trips to Canada, taking 40-50 Explorer Scouts each time to the Charles L. Sommers Wilderness Canoe Base near Ely, Minnesota. There the scouts attained their Canoe 50 Miler award. He also led scouts on two Boy Scout National Jamborees. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a past Chairman of the Sports & recreation Association, working in conjunction with others to bring to Oklahoma City the 89er baseball club and National Finals Rodeo; a YMCA Baseball Coach; Member: Chamber of Commerce; and was honored in 1965 by the Jaycees-Who’s Who in Greater Oklahoma City; Board of Baptist Children’s Home. During his professional years he worked at the M&P Store in Ada where he met Imogene; the Borden’s Milk Company, Colonial Baking Company now Rainbo, Merchants Biscuit Company now Keebler, Bill Doyle Office Supply and Scott Rice Office Supply, co-owner of the fifth Avenue Lithographing & Printing company; and was active in Real Estate sales for 30 years retiring from First Place Realty. He took pride in his ability to continue to drive and remain active as a realtor until his retirement in 2003 at the age of 93. During his life Mike enjoyed his scouting adventures, golfing, hunting and fishing and watching and attending sporting events, especially OU football games, golf and bull riding. Mike’s highest adventure was his devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He always made sure the young men he led had an opportunity to dedicate their life to the Lord. Christ was always first in his life and to Him he gave all the glory and honor.

ADA — Services for Lola D. Ingram, 97, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Phillips Chapel, the Rev. Edward Horton officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Family visitation is noon to service time Thursday.

Mrs. Ingram died Jan. 31, 2005, at a Shawnee care facility. She was born Nov. 22, 1907, in Pontotoc County to William T. and Mary Oliver King.

She attended Eubanks School. She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of the Ada area. She attended First Free Will Baptist Church.

She married Jack Ingram Oct. 24, 1925, at Stonewall. He died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Edith Ingram; her parents, William and Mary King; three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three nephews, Dill King, Wayne, Mich., George King, Oklahoma City, and Bobby King, Shawnee; and five nieces, Tommie Lou Hair, Shawnee, Lorene Caruthers, Tupelo, Estalene Jackson, Coalgate, Margrett Ann Johnston, Eufaula, and Doris Myers, Florida.

Bearers are George King, Randy King, Bill Russell, Bobby King, Mike Hair and Shawn Rhoades.

CLEVELAND — Services for Cleo Harper Kessler, 83, Cleveland, formerly of Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, Dr. Rusty Fuller officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Kessler died Monday, January 31, 2005, at a Cleveland nursing home. She was born August 18, 1921, at Wapanucka, Oklahoma, to A. J. Harper and Maud Shumard Harper. She attended school at Wapanucka, and graduated from Wewoka High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma, in 1939. She attended East Central State College in Ada for two years. She stayed at home with their son and also helped her husband with his home building business. She was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

She married Cecil Leroy Kessler on June 13, 1942, in Wellington, Kansas, and they moved to Ada in 1956 from Chandler, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She was a long time resident of Ada until she moved to an assisted living facility in Sand Springs, Oklahoma in July 2003 to be closer to her son.

She is survived by her son, Dr. James C. Kessler and his wife Dee, Cleveland; two grandchildren, Sarah Wolfe and her husband Chad, Overland Park, Kansas; Adam Kessler, Tulsa; 2 step-grandchildren, Kali and Matthew Holland, Cleveland; one brother, John Calvin Harper, Park Hill, Oklahoma; one sister, Nannie Lee Culver, Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Leroy Kessler, parents Adolphus J. Harper and Maud Shumard Harper, three sisters, Cecil, Linnie and Blanch, and two brothers, Earl and Leon.

Bearers will be Adam Kessler, Chad Wolfe, Bob Rheem, Matt Holland, David Nimmo and Dan Asklund.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, or memorials sent to Trinity Baptist Church in Ada or First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 160, Cleveland, OK 74020.

ADA — Memorial services for Frances Marie Winward, 75, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bob Payne officiating. Burial will be at Oakman Cemetery.

Mrs. Winward died on Monday, January 31, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born May 16, 1929, at Los Angeles, California, to Earl Purcell and Martha Conyers Purcell. She moved to this area in 2001 from Kingman, Arizona. She was a retired upholsterer. She married John Rottengaber. He preceded her in death. She later married Ray Winward, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three brothers, John Purcell, Ada; Roy Purcell, Ontario, California, and Tommy Adams, Palm Springs, California; and one sister, Donna Treadwell, Hemet, California. She was preceded in death by one brother, Chuck, and two sisters, Maurene and Theresa.
