L.D. Tribble

Funeral services for Wewoka resident L.D. Tribble are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka, with Rev. James Woodard officiating.

Interment is to follow at 2 p.m. at Tishomingo Cemetery, Tishomingo.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

A well-loved and greatly respected member of the community, L.D. Tribble passed on to join his Lord, and Savior on Thursday evening, July 27, 2006 at his Wewoka residence in the company of his wife and son.

"Trib" - as he was best known was 87 years old. Born May 4, 1919 in Tishomingo, to Thomas Newton and Mary Kathryn (Katy) Holcomb Tribble.

He was the youngest of 11 children, which included two sets of twins.

He was preceded in death by all 10 siblings including his twin brother, J.B. Tribble who died in a car accident in December of 1965.

His oldest brother Vernon died three months prior to the birth of his child, Vernon Lois Tribble who was raised by the Tribbles and treated as a sibling by kids.

Now Vernon Lois Woodard of Madill is the only surviving member of the household where Trib grew up.

Trib graduated from Tishomingo in 1939 and married Mary Alice Marie White June 20, 1942, and after 64 years one month and seven days. She truly held his hand to the end.

They were married during a 10-day leave since Uncle Sam had invited him to do some traveling without Alice.

He went to the South Pacific during World War II. His first stop was New Caledonia, then to New Guinea. Finally, he landed in the Philippines where he spent the remainder of the war as a communication chief.

His military career ended with the war but he was able to use what he had learned. He traded his sergeant stripes for a 30-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

After retiring in 1983 they moved to the lake house they bought in 1971.

For many years "Trib" Telephone Service" provided affordable phone service to Wewoka, and the surrounding area, as well as free services to the elderly and disadvantaged.

He was a faithful member of VFW Post #1311 in Wewoka. He served as Post Commander for two terms, from 1992-1994 and was Sr. Vice Commander in 1995.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wewoka, Lions Club, and Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife Alice of the home and their son, Lance David Tribble and wife Laura, their three sons Shelvy Dean Tribble, Lucas David Tribble and Timothy Michael Tribble.

Pallbearers for the services will be Gary Thomas, Raymond Cain, David Christ, Dale Nichols, James Lively and Dale Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Lacquement, Benny Wilkerson, Howard Tyler, Art Garner and Roy Sisco.

Vonda Trimble

A memorial celebration of the life of Vonda Jean (Carter) Trimble of Konawa has been scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday at Grace Community Church with Pastor Drew Isaacs officiating.

The church is located east of Vamoosa Cemetery off SH99, in the Konawa area.

Vonda was born in Holdenville on March 21, 1960. She passed from this life Sept. 23, 2006, at the age of 46 years.

She grew up in Wewoka and attended Wewoka Schools and Bowlegs High School, where she graduated in 1979.

She worked at Moore’s IGA, Anthony’s Department Store, and at the Seminole County Courthouse, all in Wewoka. In Konawa she had worked at Sooner State Bank, but her recent years were spent as a homemaker.

Vonda loved corresponding with others and because of this she had many friends.

Her husband Kirby J. Trimble preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2005.

Her only child, Kirby Landon Trimble of the home and her parents Gene and Esther Carter, also of Konawa, survives her.

In addition, survivors include one sister and brother in law, Delena and Bill Blackwood of Moore; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Don and Delana Carter of Stevensville, Mont. and Tim Carter of Shreveport, La. and nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any gift or donation be made to Landon Trimble in care of Grace Community Church, P.O. Box 360, Konawa, Okla. 74849.

Burniece Tull

Funeral services for longtime former Seminole resident Burniece Hazeldel Tull are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Leon Wilson to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Tull, 90, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Golden Rule Nursing Home in Shawnee. She was born Aug. 6, 1915 in Tell, Texas to William Enoch Jarrell and Viola (Windle).

She retired from Pioneer nursing Home in 1989 as a cook and was a member of the Church of Christ. Tull moved to Seminole from Oklahoma City in 1960 and was a current resident of Shawnee.

Her husband, Clyde Tull; sons, Robert Thurman Snead, Paul David Snead and Danny Ray Snead and daughter, Burniece Petray preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Otis Snead of Tahlequah, Kenneth Snead of Stillwater and Ronnie Tull of Seminole; one daughter, Patricia Hacker of Mustang; two brothers, Earl Jarrell of Anderson, Ind. and Bertis Jarrell of San Antonio, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers are Shelvin Tull, Brandon Tull, Brian Fleming, Bruce Fleming, Tyler Hileman and Eric Jones.

Honorary bearers are Tony Perry and Richard Goforth.

Willie Underwood

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Willie Bond Underwood were set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at the Hitchitee Methodist Church.

Mike Harjo, Houston Tiger, Abraham Jackson and Paul Donnie Wolf were set to officiate.

Burial was set to follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery in Seminole County.

A wake service for Underwood was held Monday night at 6 p.m., and Underwood’s body was moved to the church at 4 p.m.

Underwood died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in Midwest City, at the age of 60.

He was born on June 18, 1946, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Tecumseh Underwood and Nagie (Harjo) Underwood.

Underwood was a retired Vietnam veteran, where he was in the 101st Airborne and he received the Purple Heart.

Underwood was a member of the Hitchitee Methodist Church and was a Seminole Nation Tribal Member.

He was a member of the Mikasuki Band and of the "Sweet Potato" clan. He was also on the Pow Wow trail for a number of years.

Underwood was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He is survived by five daughters: Jean Wood of Oklahoma City, Katherine Harjo of Bethany, Rosie Tiger of Wewoka, Bonita Underwood of Tahlequah, and Bonnie Underwood of Bethany; a son, William Underwood of Bethany; three brothers: Tecumseh Underwood of Maud, Victor Underwood of Seminole, and Ted Underwood of Seminole; four sisters: Jo Kay Berryman of Shawnee, Donna Gayton of Ceiling, Pam Underwood of Shawnee, and Rhonda Underwood of Ada; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers were set to be Honece Pipestem, Chris Pipestem, Will Pipestem, Sam Spencer, Nathan Harjo, and Michael Haney.

Honorary bearers were Teddy Harjo, Donald Fixico, Larry Wolf, Kendall Tiger, Dylan Spencer, Sugar Bear Martin and Scott Martin.

Charlene Upchurch

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Charlene Upchurch are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of God in Holdenville.

Burial is to follow at McMahan Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Ewers, Rev. Dale Jennings and Rev. Doris Upchurch officiating.

Mrs. Upchurch passed away in Norman on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 at 73 years of age. She was born Jan. 20, 1933 in Hughes County to Odus and Gladys Bernard Stringfellow.

Charlene attended Moss Schools and on Feb. 26, 1949 she married Howard Upchurch at the First Church of God Parsonage in Holdenville.

She was raised in the Moss area until moving to Seminole after marrying Howard, where they lived until 1976 when Howard’s work moved them to East Texas. They returned to Hughes County in 1986.

Charlene was a longtime member of the First Church of God and was a charter member of the church’s quilting group.

She enjoyed caring for her home and family, especially baking and making dozens of cookies and pies to try to get everyone’s favorite.

Charlene participated in the Lamar Senior Citizen’s annual "Nashville Now" fundraiser and she enjoyed life and people almost as much as they enjoyed her.

Her parents and a great-grandchild, Holden Hughes, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Howard Upchurch, of the home; four children, Charlotte Horton and husband, Dave, of Seminole, Kathy Johns and husband, Les, of Eufaula, Jim Upchurch and wife, Kay, of Tecumseh and Angelia Upchurch of Holdenville; grandchildren, Cheryl Stevens of Seminole, Alicia Hughes and husband, Jeromy, of Pampa, Texas, Courtney Upchurch of Tulsa, and Kristi Splawn and husband, Chris, of Asher.

Charlene leaves three great-grandchildren, Hunter Hughes, Brittney Stevens and Mackenzie Stevens; brothers and sisters, Juanita Brown of Holdenville, Jeannie Harmon of Holdenville, Lloyd Stringfellow and wife, Ina, of Holdenville, Harold Dean Stringfellow and wife, Francis, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Patsy Hladik and husband, Gene, of Wichita, Kansas and Billie Lynn Leewright of Holdenville along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Terry Valadez

Graveside services for Wewoka native Terry Russell Valadez were held today at 11 a.m. at the Family Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford.

Valadez, 75 of Holdenville, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 in Midwest City. He was born Jan. 18, 1931 in Wewoka to Rosanna (Wolf) and Felix Valadez.

He was a jeweler and a member of the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Valadez lived in Oklahoma City, and for the past seven years he lived in Wewoka.

Surviving are three daughters, Alice Davenport and Annie Huges, both of Midwest City and Margie Kelley of Oklahoma City; one stepdaughter, Pearleen Lewellen of Choctaw; one sister, Irene Freeman; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Christina Vallejo

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident, Christina Vallejo, are scheduled for Saturday in Long Beach, Calif.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date in Oklahoma.

Vallejo, 16, died suddenly Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at her home in Apple Valley, Calif. She was born Sept. 10, 1990 in Compton, Calif. and is the daughter of Paula and Thomas Jr. Vallejo.

She moved to Wewoka when she was 10 years old and attended Wewoka Public Schools before attending Holdenville Schools.

Surviving are her grandparents, Paul and Debbie Brinsfield of Wewoka and Lloyd and Judy Cross of Holdenville.

A full obituary is planned to run in The Producer at a later time.

Charles Dean Vogann

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Charles Dean "Charlie" Vogann are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Haven Chapel in Tulsa.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. tonight. Services are under the direction of Floral Haven Chapel, 6500 S. 129th East Ave., Broken Arrow.

Charlie died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 near Okay, Okla. while participating in a charity bicycle ride. He was born Oct. 3, 1990 in Shawnee to Randy and Sheila Sanders Vogann.

Charlie lived and attended schools in Seminole until moving to the Tulsa area with his parents in the spring of 2005.

He finished the 2005 school year at Union schools, before transferring to Catoosa schools where he was a sophomore at the time of his death.

Charlie enjoyed computers, and fishing and camping with his dad. He loved going to construction job sites with his dad, and had dreams of some day becoming an engineer.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Randy and Sheila Vogann of the home in rural Broken Arrow; sisters, Sabrina Aldrich and Christy Pressley, both of Tulsa; aunt, Staci Whitaker and husband Chris, of Tulsa; uncle, Tom Sanders and wife Connie, of Broken Arrow; aunt, Sandra Leah Hermes of Las Cruces, N.M.; aunt, Katrinka Lynn Cordova and husband Edward of Las Cruces, N.M.; uncle, Richard Arlen Vogann Jr., of Las Cruces, N.M.; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Patricia Dill of Tulsa and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Charlie Vogann memorial marker fund.
