Franklin Woodruff

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Franklin Onen Woodruff are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wolf Cemetery wit h Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Woodruff, 75, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Seminole Estates Care Center. He was born April 11, 1931 in Biggers, Ark. to Benjamin Woodruff and Elva Pearl (Ulmer) Woodruff.

He was a longtime self employed mechanic who owned and operated "Woodruff Garage" in Seminole until he retired in 1993.

His parents; two brothers, Leon Woodruff and Jay Mary Woodruff; one sister, Maxine Snodgrass and one grandson, Johnathan O. Woodruff (2006) preceded him in death.

Surviving is his son, Charles Woodruff of Seminole; one daughter, Maxine Woodruff of Tenn.; one brother, Sherman Woodruff of Tulsa; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Leland Worden

Graveside services for former Wewoka resident, Leland Pat Worden, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery.

Burial is to follow under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Worden died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born Oct. 12, 1934 in Ashford, Wash.

He was a resident of Haskell Care Center in Haskell and was a former resident of Elmwood Manor Nursing Home in Wewoka.

Rogean Worl

Funeral services for Maud graduate Rogean Moody Worl are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Glen Williams officiating.

Interment is to follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Rogean (Moody) Worl, 72 year-old Meeker resident passed from this life Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee. She was born April 4, 1935 in Byers, Okla., to parents Ellis Moody and Ophelia Bell (Hunt) Moody.

She graduated from Maud High School in 1953 and was of the Baptist faith.

Rogean married Ralph Dean Worl and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1981.

She owned and operated the "One Stop Kountry Store" in Jacktown for 28 years.

Rogean leaves to cherish her memory one sister and brother-in-law, Nelda Fern and Emral Guinn of Saint Louis, Okla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley Leon and Ina Moody of Shawnee; three nieces and their husbands: Wynema Marshalee Montgomery Buley and her husband Bill Buley of Saint Louis, Okla., Roshel and her husband Stewart Stobel of Lakin, Kan., and Christy and her husband Gary McClaskey of Maud; and seven great nieces and nephews: Matonna and husband Mark Haynes of Maud, Maleea and husband TyRay Brock of Maud, Taylor Stobel, Erika Stobel and Jayce Stobel all of Lakin, Kan., and Savanna McClaskey and Sydney McClaskey both of Maud.

Also surviving is one great-great niece, Matraya Haynes of Maud and one great-great nephew, Emral Layn Haynes of Maud.

Barbara Worthington

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Barbara Faye (Satawake) Worthington are schedule for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Glen Pence officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Barbara passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at home. She was born Jan. 5, 1949 in Seminole to Louis Knight and Thelma Estep.

On Sept. 9, 1992 she married Billy Worthington in Ft. Smith, Ark.

She was a retired shipping/office clerk at Wrangler for 17 years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole.

Her parents, stepfather, Charlie Knight and first husband, Jackie Satawake preceded her in death.

Surviving Barbara is her husband, Billy Worthington of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie R. and Georgia Satawake of Seminole, Mike D. and Courtney Satawake of Oklahoma City and Noel Worthington of Seminole; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Monte Palmer of Seminole and April and Don Fuentes of Denton, Texas; one brother, Lonnie Knight of Seminole; two sisters, Pam Kolander and Patsy Welch, all of Seminole; six grandchildren, Derek, Morgan, Chelsea and Jacie Satawake, Blaine and Josh Palmer, Christian Worthington and Nicholas Fuentes and special friend, Cindi Mize of Seminole.

Bobby Wyatt

Funeral services for Sasakwa native Bobby Wilson Wyatt are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Western Oaks Christian Church in Oklahoma City.

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Services are under the direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Service, Bethany.

Wyatt, 90, of Oklahoma City, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 26, 1917 in Sasakwa to Frank and Bonnie Wyatt.

He was employed by FFA in Oklahoma City and was a longtime resident of Wewoka.

His parents and wife, Vesta Wyatt, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Fren Wyatt, of Oklahoma City; three daughter: Joan Owens of Muskogee, Shirley Pennington of Tulsa, and Linda Adkins of Wiley, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Michael York

A private service was held recently for Michael Allen York, son Seminole resident Raymond Dan Myers.

Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

York died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the age of 53.

He was born in Clinton, on Feb. 5, 1954, and later moved to Enid where he grew up.

York began playing the piano at age three, and later became a composer, writer and singer.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as an airman, and was stationed in Okinawa.

York also was a photographer and a gardener.

He is survived by his father, Raymond Dan Myers, of Seminole; four sisters, Rebecca Joan Douglas of Shawnee, Cheryl Rae Sivels of Parkton, N.C., Mary Kathleen Gordon of Bailey, Colo., and Kelli Dene Cathey of Shawnee.

York was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita L. Myers, in 2007.

Hattie Young

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Hattie Irene (Morris) Young are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Hayes officiating.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Atoka.

Hattie, a longtime Tishomingo resident, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Tishomingo. She was 104 years, nine months and 19 days old at the time of her passing.

She was born Sept. 5, 1902 in Wetumka to Jasper and Mary (Bennett) Morris. Hattie attended school in Wetumka.

Hattie married Walter Lee Young on Sept. 14, 1919 in Wetumka. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1967.

She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. Hattie was a Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo.

Her husband of 48 years, her grandson, Jackie Ray Young and her son-in-law, James McCreary, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sons, Ramon Lee Young of Tishomingo and Dale Richard Young and wife, Sharon, of Idabell; daughter, Carmen Irene (Young) McCreary of Midwest City; three grandsons, three granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren; along with many very dear and loved friends.

Homer Young

Funeral services for former Wewoka minister, Homer Lee Young, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College in the Barber Center Auditorium.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Vondel Smith & Sons Mortuary.

Homer, age 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.

On June 19, 1948 he married June Holmes in her parents house, just south of Prague.

Young was a graduate of Connors State College, Oklahoma Bible College (Hillsdale) and Tulsa University, where he studied theology.

Ordained as a Free Will Baptist minister in 1952, he established and worked as pastor in several Oklahoma churches, beginning in Henryetta, then to Cushing, Stillwater, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Moore, McAlester, El Reno, Wilburton, Wewoka, and Chickasha.

He also served as the Oklahoma Free Will Baptist State Executive Secretary.

His parents, Argus and Dovie Young; sister, Juanita Wolfe; and one grandson preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, June Young; two brothers, Waldo and John Jo Young; four daughters, Diane Groat, Sherry Earp, Ilene Gore, and Brenda Miller; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

Virginia Young

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Virginia Dee Young are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Virginia Dee Young passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 in her home at the age of 76. She was born in Pottawatomie County on Nov. 5, 1930 to Frank and Lola Mae (Hollingshead) Shorney.

Virginia married Troy V. Young on Feb. 14, 1948 in Shawnee. She retired from the Bowlegs School System in 1993 where she was a cook for 14 years.

Her parents and two grandsons: Jason and Shawn Sexton preceded her in death

She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Troy V. and Cheryl Young, Jr. of McLoud and John T. and Trish Young of Shawnee and two daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl A. and Bobby Morrison of Seminole and June M. Sexton of Seminole.

She is also survived by right grandchildren, Nathan Young, Timothy Young, Ashley Young, Jeremy Sexton, Megan Sexton, Crystal Sexton, Tammy Sexton and Frankie Young, as well as ten great grandchildren.

William Young

William Bernard Young passed away on Jan. 10, 2007, at the age of 85 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

He was born on March 16, 1921, to William Nathan and Clara Louise (Mergen) Young in Omaha, Neb.

He married Barbara Fay (Cole) Young on Aug. 15, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz.

He has been a Seminole resident since 2001 moving here from Palm Springs, Calif. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.

He was a golf pro in South Lake Tahoe and was also active in the Senior Olympics in Palm Springs, Calif.

He is survived by two daughters; Patricia "Patty" Edgell of Seminole and Pamela Tabel of Brentwood, Calif.; one sister, Louise Knoll of Claremont, Calif. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Matthew W. Garst, Rachel M. Page, Matthew Tabel Carlene Armour and family and Carl James Edgell and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barbara Faye Young on Feb. 22, 1997.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at The Little Chapel, Seminole County, with Father Basil Kennan, O.S.B. and Roger Tabel officiating.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, Seminole County.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to; Humanitatian Aid Fund on behalf of William B. Young, LDS Philanthropies, 15 E. South Temple 2E, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84150.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home 100 W. Strother, Seminole, OK 74868.
