ELLEN BUMPERS
DENTON, Texas — Services for Ellen Bumpers, 98, Denton, formerly of Ada, Okla., are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Ada, Dr. George Warren officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bumpers died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at a Denton hospital. She was born Feb. 7, 1906, at Sulphur Springs to Walter Bryant and Josephine Surrett Bryant. She moved to Ada in 1934 from Ardmore, Okla., where she continued to own and operate a Beauty School. Since 1980, she has lived in Sun City, Ariz., and Norman, Okla. In 1996 she moved to the Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Denton She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ada.

She married R. A. Hurley in 1922. She married Uel Bumpers in 1942. He died in 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hurley Lane, Sun City, Ariz., and Jane Bumpers Huffman, Denton,; four grandchildren, Thomas Hurley Lane, Sun City, Rebecca Ellen Varbaro and her husband Dominick, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Marshall Brian Huffman and his wife Shona, Frisco, Texas, and Julie Elizabeth Young and her husband Joel, Williamsburg, Va; four great-grandchildren, Lisa Ellen Varbaro Mauldin, Port St. Lucie, Brian Robert Varbaro and his wife Melissa, Port St. Lucie,, Chloe Elisabeth Huffman, Frisco, Texas, and Lillian Avery Huffman, Frisco; and three great-great-grandchildren, Vincente Dominick Mauldin, Matthew John Mauldin and Brooke Ellen Varbaro, all of Port St. Lucie.

Bearers are Marcus Griffin, Ken Johnson, Charles Mayhue, Dr. Ken Coffey and Frank Elkouri.

Honorary bearers are Jay Galvin, G. C. Mayhue, James Armstrong and Ted Savage.

Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 566, Ada, OK 74821, or to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

HASTINGS, Neb. — Memorial services for Charles L. “Chuck” Stonecipher, 67, Hastings, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hastings’ First United Methodist Church, the Rev. William Deahl Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Stonecipher was born Feb. 15, 2005, at Apache, Okla., to L.C. and Myrtle Buffer Stonecipher. He graduated from Vanoss (Okla.) High School and earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater. He earned master’s and doctorate’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Mr. Stonecipher served in the National Guard. He was previously married to LaDell Routh. He was founding director of South Central Research & Extension Center in Clay Center for the University of Nebraska, serving as the center’s district director until his retirement in 1997.

He moved from Clay Center to Hastings in 1971. He and his wife operated a Christmas tree farm called The Pine Patch for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rotary, Nebraska State 4-H Foundation and served on the board of the YMCA. Also, he was a past president and current member of Nebraska Tree Growers Association and member of National Tree Growers Association.

He married Sharon Nelson Lemmer.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Stonecipher, Hastings; two sons, Brian Stonecipher and his wife Alexa, Ashland, Mass., and Scott Stonecipher and his wife Judi, El Segundo, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sonja Martens and her husband tom, Edina, Minn., and Stephanie Lemmer, Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepson, Mark Lemmer and his wife Kathy, Atkinson; six grandchildren, Willa and Chloe Stonecipher, Jackie and Andrea Lemmer, and Gregory and Nicole Martens; four sisters, Verna Fuller and her husband Bob, Oklahoma City, Okla., Margaret Mauldin, Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn Holman and her husband, the Rev. Leroy Holman, Ardmore, Okla., and Betty Golden and her husband Mike, Fairfax, Va.; a brother, Carroll Stonecipher and his wife Ann, Stratford, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ADA — Services for Lester Allen Worcester, 53, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Larry Hawkins officiating. Burial follows at Pontotoc Cemetery. Chickasaw Honor Guard will perform military honors at the cemetery. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Worcester died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born March 3, 1952, at Talihina to Cecil Franklin Worcester and Audra Faye Cravatt Worcester. He lived in this area all his life, and attended grade school at Pontotoc and high school at McLish. He was an oil field rough neck for many years. He served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army, serving from 1970–1971. He attended Blue Baptist Church, where he was a member of the youth group. He also attended Freedom Center in Ada.

Survivors include five daughters, Christy Worcester and her husband Thomas Cole, Ada, Carla Loggins and her husband Johnnie, Ada, Leslee Ariason and her husband Mostafa, Oklahoma City, and Stephanie Galvan, Ada, and Julia Extrom, California; one son, Allan Worcester, Korea; two brothers, Frank Worcester and his wife Rosie, Ada, and Roy Worcester and his wife Dinah, Pontotoc; and10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Worcester; and a granddaughter, Tabitha Worcester-Loggins.

Bearers are Johnnie Loggins, Thomas Cole, Weldon Fulsom, Larry Colbert, Lloyd Hatley and Jimmy James.

REAGAN — Services for Steven L. Underwood, 55, Reagan, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial follows at Troy Cemetery, Troy. He died Jan. 27, 2005, at Reagan.

LATTA — Graveside services for Gary Eugene McAnally, 59, Latta, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Rosedale Cemetery, the Rev. Robert Ware officiating.

Mr. McAnally died Jan. 26, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1945, in the Union Hill community, west of Ada, to James Walter and Mary Josephine Fortenberry McAnally. He lived in this area all his life, attending school at Union Hill and Latta High School.

He married Pearl Tatum Oct. 6, 1962, in Konawa. Mr. McAnally was an oilfield employee and he also owned McAnally and Sons Roofing. He was a member of Family Worship Center.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl McAnally, of the home; two sons, Roger Eugene McAnally and wife Dava, Ada, and Kevin Eugene McAnally and wife Carol, Ada; grandchildren, Kyle Bradley McAnally, Serria LaShawn Brackage, DeCarina Lane McAnally and Lacey Rachelle McAnally; three brothers, Leroy McAnally and wife Pat, Ada, Alvin McAnally and wife Jean, Ada, and William Dewayne McAnally and wife Wanda, Ada; four sisters, Lois Rhynes, Ada, Evelyn Parrish, Ada, Verna Lou Tatum and husband J. T., Ada, and Pearl Petchinski and husband Everett, Eufaula.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Hazel Henson.

Bearers will be Roger McAnally, Kevin McAnally, Richard Chronister, Tim Chronister, Mark Chronister, Doug Turner and Jeremy Turner.

Family and friends may gather for lunch at First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

SUE GARDNER
ADA — Services for Ida Sue “Mimi” Gardner, 77, Ada, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Criswell Chapel, the Revs. Joe Dixon and Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Gardner died Jan. 27, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born May 4, 1927, at Duncan to Zeb Guess Brister and Clara Andrews Brister. She graduated from high school at Empire, Okla., and came to this area in 1960 from Shawnee. She served as nursery director at Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Colbert Baptist Church and New Bethel Baptist Church, and was currently a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She also provided child care in her home for many years.

She married the Rev. Orland O. Gardner Dec. 28, 1946, at Velma Alma. He preceded her in death in November 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Cooper and husband Tom, Ada, Joy Battershell and husband Eddie, Chandler, and Rita Gardner, Euless, Texas; one son, Bill Gardner and wife Suzanne, Keller, Texas; seven grandchildren, Marcy Bush, Melody Shaw, Amber Battershell, Nathan Battershell, Megan Battershell, Chris Gardner and Emily Gardner; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor Bush, Katelyn Bush, Braden Cooper and Haley Shaw.

Grandsons will serve as bearers.

Mr. Demmitt died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 in Tyler, Texas.

Masey died on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Feb. 9, 2004, at Oklahoma City to Billy Holland Jr. and Jennifer Miller Holland.

Survivors include her parents, Billy Holland Jr. and Jennifer Holland, of the home; one brother, Billy Jack Holland III, of the home; maternal grandparents, Keith and Sandy Miller, Sulphur; paternal grandmother, Barbara Holland, Ada; paternal grandfather, Billy Holland Sr., Oklahoma City; maternal grandparents, Sherrise and Chris Martin, Olympia, Washington; paternal great grandmother, Patricia Cordell, Ada; maternal great grandfather, Jesse Lloyd Miller, Ada; paternal great grandmother, Bertha Holland, Oklahoma City; and maternal great grandparents, Richard and Leona Coffman, Olympia, Washington, and numerous other relatives.

Bearers are Billy Holland Jr., and Keith Miller.
