Benjamin Brown

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Benjamin "Big Ben" Brown are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with Manuel Revas officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Brown died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 in Oklahoma City at the age of 66. He was born on March 5, 1941 in Wanette to Cornelious A. and Ellen (Smith) Miller Brown.

He worked for Plumbers and Pipe Fitter Local #344 in Oklahoma City for many years and was a member of the union for 31 years.

His parents; one daughter, Angela Dawn Paul; two sisters, Betty Brown and Sally Brown; and two half-brothers, Marion Dodie and Sonny Dodie, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Bennie Brown of Bowlegs and Benjamin Brown Jr., of McAlester; two brothers, Leonard brown of Texas and Delmer Brown of Kansas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Ricky Williams, Eddie Loving, Dallas Johnson, Albert Corona, Danny England, and Mike Worley.

Carl Brown

Memorial services for Seminole native Carl L. "Pottsie" Brown are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Sapulpa with Rev. Doyle Pryor officiating.

Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Brown, 70 of Sapulpa, died Thursday, June 21, 2007. He was born June 7, 1937 in Seminole to Carl Evan and Mary Etta (Dunigan) Brown.

He attended Seminole Schools and graduated from Seminole High School. In 1958 he married Ginger Rush in Seminole.

Brown retired from Explorer Pipeline after 33 years of service. He also served in the United States Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church, Sapulpa.

He enjoyed fishing and golfing, and coached baseball for 13 years.

Surviving is his wife of the home; son, Cheyenne Brown of Sapulpa; daughters, Sabrina Bridges of Owasso and Renee Enlow of Sapulpa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and brother, Leslie Dale Brown of Ne Sidell, La.

Danny Brown

Funeral services for Danny Eugene Brown are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at Coney Island Tabernacle with Rev. Charles Troglin officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Brown died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 in Springfield, Colo., at the age of 65. He was born on Nov. 18, 1941 in Kansas City, Mo., to Clement Edward and Leota Mae (Lindsay) Brown.

He was a self-employed cement finisher and was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; and sister, Juanita Mae Cafferty, who passed away on Oct. 31, 2007 in Fowler, Colo., she was cremated and her ashes will be interred with him.

He is survived by one son, Danny Eugene Brown, Jr. of Rome Ga.; four daughters: Sheila Moody of San Diego, Calif., Judy Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas, Juanita Sue Brown of Louisville, Texas, and Denise Colding of Armuchee, Ga.; one brother, Robert Brown of Seminole; numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Stanley Brown

A celebration of life service for longtime Seminole County resident Stanley Dean Brown has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout-Philips Funeral Chapel.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Stanley passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 in Oklahoma City at the age of 70 years. He was born Aug. 24, 1936 in Ada to John and Mabel (Wood) Brown.

He attended school in Sasakwa and received his associate’s degree in electronics from Okmulgee Tech.

He worked for the OG&E, Seminole; Wewoka Police Department; Seminole County Sheriff’s Department; Geo-Tech; Seminole Nation as a security guard; and after his retirement with The Nation, he opened his own business, Hawk Enterprises.

His parents, John and Mabel Brown, wife, Allison (Cook) Brown and brother, Beauty Bill Brown preceded him in death.

Surviving is daughter, Kellye Ann Brown of Montana; son, Tracy Dean Brown and wife, Angie, of Sasakwa; stepson, Jonathan Brown of Wynnewood; brother, John R. Brown of Whitehorse Yukon Territory, Canada; special friend, Mary Ann Brown of Wewoka; nephew, Dorsey Brown; aunts, Ruby Smith of Choctaw, Juanita Ryan of Noble and Tabby Sparks of Orange, Calif.; grandchildren, Dana Streater, Sean Brown and wife, Krysten, Landon Brown, Cortlyn Brown, Katelyn Brown and Allison Brown and one great-grandchild, Logan Brown.

Cecil Bruner

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County native Cecil Bruner are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with his grandson, Rev. Brandon Kemble officiating.

Interment is to follow at Middle Creek #2 Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Cecil, age 88 of Wewoka, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at Holdenville Hospital and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born Aug. 15, 1918 in Seminole County to Grant and Louysa Bruner.

He was married to Lucinda Mae Frank and she preceded him in death.

Cecil was a cook at Berry’s Waffle House for over 25 years and was a deacon at Middle Creek #2 Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and fishing.

His parents, brothers, Charlie Bruner and Roger Coody and sister, Nettie Wright also preceded him in death.

Surviving is his daughter, Zora Kemble and husband, Curran of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Johnnie Sue Belcher of Oklahoma City and Brandon Kemble of Ft. Gibson, Okla. and great-grandchildren, Nikia, James and Olivia Kemble.

Carl Bryant

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Carl Bryant are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stout-Philips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Factor officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Bryant, 36, died in a house fire on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006. He was born Dec. 27, 1970 in Wetumka to Mitchell Graham and Mildred Irene (Gore) Bryant.

He graduated from Wewoka High School and attended Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech for two years studying welding and small engines.

Bryant worked for Dean Goforth as a truck driver and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and of the Baptist church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing pranks on family and friends.

His father and two brothers, Tommy Lee Bryant and Jimmy Ray Bryant preceded him in death.

Surviving is his mother, Mildred Irene Bryant; daughter, Krystal Marie Bryant; brothers, Lester Bryant of Wewoka, Roger Bryant of Seminole and Kenneth Bryant of Eufaula and sister, Audrey Gasaway of Ada.

Glenda Buck

Our beloved Glenda F. Buck passed away on June 2, 2007 in San Diego, Calif., while visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Martina Buck and Dr. Mario Chojkier.

She is going to be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Konawa, next to her father Elmer Johnston, her mother Lorena Boyd Johnston, her sister Mary Winters and her brothers, J.E. Johnston and Jack Johnston.

Glenda is survived by her finance' Bob Valderas, her daughter Dr. Martina Buck, her son-in-law, Dr. Mario Chojkier, her son Kevin Buck and a host of other family and friends.

Glenda spent many years abroad with her late husband George Buck and family and now she has come home.

A Rosary service will be held on Friday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa with Father Matthew Brown, O.S.B. officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mario Chojkier, George Winters, Kevin Buck, Bob Valderas, Charles Johnston and Gene Dennie. Honorary bearer will be David Green.

Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Gordon Bunch

A private memorial service for Konawa resident Gordon Ewing Bunch will be held at the family’s home at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Bunch, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. He was born on May 19, 1918 in Deming, N.M. to Claude Bunch and Edna (Horne) Burnham.

He served three years in the United States Navy Seabees 73rd Battalion in the South Pacific during World War II.

On Feb. 20, 1948 he married Lela O. Vickers in Texas and she preceded him in death on June 28, 1984.

He worked as a mechanic in the oilfield.

His parents also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith Blackburn of Ada and Lea Hoyle of Konawa; one sister, June Blalock of East Helena, Mont.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George Burgess

Funeral services for Bowlegs graduate George Alexander Burgess are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Houston Tiger and rev. Jimsey Harjo officiating.

Interment is to follow at the Harjo-Burgess Family Cemetery in Wolf under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Burgess, 52 of Wolf, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 in Holdenville. He was born May 26, 1955 in Holdenville to Alexander and JoAnn (Harjo) Burgess.

He was raised in the Vamoosa, Wolf and Bowlegs areas and attended school and graduated from Bowlegs High school in 1974.

After high school he attended Murray State Jr. College on a baseball scholarship and received his associates degree. He attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee and served in the Oklahoma National Guard from July 1976 to July 1982.

In August 1963 he was baptized as a member of Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church and worked in the oilfields for many years.

His parents, Alexander and JoAnn Burgess, Junior Walker, brother, Robert Lee west and a baby sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, George Alexander Burgess Jr., Christopher Lee Burgess and Gary Joe Burgess, all of Wewoka, Sonya Kay Lunceford of Seminole, Mia Lynn Burgess and Mariah Lynn Burgess, both of Coalgate; one grandson and siblings, Nita Kay Jacobs of Holdenville, Samuel Lee Harrison of Wewoka, Amelia Ann Harjo of Oklahoma City, Shirley Harrison of Yeager, Joammie Wood of Spaulding, Charles Burgess of Wolf, Claude A. Burgess of Lexington, Gwendolyn Warrenburg and Marcella Bryan, both of Tecumseh.

Pallbearers will be Roland Miller, Ray Davis, Dale Jesse, Allen Foster, Benjamin Emarthle and Charlie Harjo.

Honorary bearers will be nephews, Adam Cole, Dewayne Welch, James Motley, Herman Foster and Ambrose Cully.

Joyce Burgess

Graveside services for Bowlegs resident Joyce May Ellis Burgess were held today at 10 a.m. at Sac and Fox Cemetery in Stroud.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Burgess died Saturday, March 3, 2007 in Oklahoma City at the age of 57. She was born on May 28, 1949 in Pawnee to Edgar and Myrtle May (McKinney) Ellis.

Surviving is her husband, Charles Burgess of the home; sons, Wilson Conklin Harjo of Prague, Vinsent Mike Harjo II of Seminole and Virgil Gene Harjo of Wewoka; daughter, Jerri Lynn Harjo of Davenport; brothers, Elvis E. Ellis of Midwest City, Jackson Ellis of Shawnee, Leroy Ellis of Norman and Virgil Ray Ellis of Shawnee and sisters, Mildred Marceleno of Prague, Peggy Ellis of Meeker, Gloria Jean Ellis of Agra, Lela J. Lopez of Altus and Gail Marez of Prague.
