Jack Dearing Jr.

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Jack Ancel Dearing Jr. were held today at 2 p.m. in the Stout-Phillips Chapel with Freeman Whitlock officiating and Glen Pence.

Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Jack Ancel Dearing Jr. passed away at his home Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Jack was born Sept. 19, 1922 in Oklahoma City to J.A. and Barbara (Geinger) Dearing.

Jack attended school at Central High School in Oklahoma City.

He was a World War II Army Veteran.

Jack married Nona (Campbell) Dearing on Dec. 20, 1947. Jack was employed with the Rice Amusement Company in Oklahoma City from 1947 to 1955.

Nona and Jack moved to Wewoka in 1955 at which time he began employment with Siler Music Company and retired in 1986.

Jack was a member of the Community in Christ Church in Seminole and Senior Citizens in Wewoka.

Three Sisters, Mary Vickery, Lucille Rice and Helen Rhoden and one brother, Lewis Dearing preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Nona Dearing of the home; three children, Dan J. and wife Linda Dearing of Seminole, David Dearing and wife Carolyn Curtis of Wewoka and Donna and husband Kraig Rogers of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Ryan and wife Linda Hutchison, Teresa and husband Terry Rowlan, Logan Dearing and Lincoln Dearing; two step-grandchildren, Dustin Curtis and Carissa Curtis and three great-grandchildren, Chase Rowlan, Nathan Hutchison and Alyssa Rowlan

Serving as pallbearers will be Art Garner, Mike Rice, Ryan Hutchison, Terry Rowlan and Jason Weatherly.

Marvin Deatherage

Graveside services for Seminole resident Marvin Luther Deatherage are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Keith Thomas.

Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Shawnee.

Deatherage, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1929 in Shawnee to Luther Marvin and Beulah (Blalock) Deatherage.

On Jan. 16, 1954 he married Patsy E. Roberts and had served in the United States Army.

Deatherage owned and operated a monument company and later was an aircraft painter at Tinker Air Force Base.

His parents and wife preceded him in death.

Surviving are sons, Marvin Dean Deatherage of Holdenville and Mark W. Deatherage of Seminole; daughter, Judy Thomas of Moore; six grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Alexander of San Antonio, Texas, Marcene Massey of Shawnee, Lou Benton of Oklahoma City, and Deanie Wells of Shawnee.

Alvie Mitchell Sanders

Graveside services for lifelong Seminole county resident Alvie Mitchell are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Dennis Yeubanks will officiate.

Sanders, 66, died Friday, Dec. 21 in Seminole.

He was born on February 20, 1941 in Wewoka to Fred Mitchell and Estell Joyce Sanders and married Marie (Smith) Sanders on September 5, 1959.

Sanders worked in the oilfield as a rig manager for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife in January 2006.

He is survived by two sons, mark Sanders, Seminole, Jason Sanders, Aurora, Colo.; three sisters, Rita Orr, Choctaw, and Sue Smith, Linda Sanderson, both of Wewoka; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Helen Deck

Graveside services for lifelong Bowlegs resident, Helen Louise Deck, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Deck, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 in Seminole. She was born May 22, 1933 in Covington, Okla., to William Henry Deck and Minnie (Heneke) Deck.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the Bowlegs First Baptist Church.

Her parents an one son, Ronald Medley Deck (1988) preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Billy Deck of Bowlegs; on daughter, Debra Givray of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; one brother, William Deck of Enid; two sisters, Doris Ann Sturgill of Yukon and Virginia Howard of Enid; and five grandchildren.

Jim Decker

Funeral mass for lifelong Seminole County resident Jim Jerry Decker is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague with Rev. Shane Tharp officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee and services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Decker died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at his Seminole County home at the age of 93. He was born in Seminole on Aug. 14, 1914 to Michael and Frances Rose (Horinek) Decker.

He served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II. Decker was a farmer and rancher as well as a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

His parents, two brothers, and five sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are sisters, Rose Drescher of Oklahoma City, Ann Rogers of McLean, Va., and Margaret May of Oxnard, Calif.

Patricia Decker

A celebration of the life of longtime Seminole resident, Patricia Kimberly "Kim" Decker, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lewis Walters officiating.

Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Kim passed from this life Thursday, April 19, 2007 in Oklahoma City, following a long battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 29, 1060 in Seminole to parents, Richard Norman and Patricia (Ogden) Norman.

Kim attended Seminole Schools and received her Associate’s degree from Seminole State College and her Bachelor’s degree from East Central University in Ada.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee and had worked as an accountant with Finley and Cook Accounting Firm in Shawnee.

Kim leaves to cherish her memory two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scotty and Bonnie Decker of Seminole and Jesse Mendinghall of the home; father and stepmother, Richard and Marilyn Norman of Konawa; two sisters, Teresa Norman of Seminole and Cindy Rudich of Seminole; maternal grandmother, Leona Maxwell of Seminole; two grandsons, Nolan and Conlan Decker of Seminole; one aunt, Colleen Fletcher of Seminole; sister-in-law, Kim and her husband Lonnie Kean of Seminole; three cousins, Terry Fletcher of Seminole, Steve Fletcher of Bixby and Rob Fletcher of Maud.

In addition, Kim leaves her special "Heart friend", Lesli Blazer of Seminole; as well as a host of other special family and friends including her "Work Family" at Finley and Cook Inc., and the friends who are too many to mention.

Kim is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Ogden) Norman Stockton, and her husband Charles "Keith" Decker, who died Jan. 26, 1983, and by her paternal grandmother, Lula Norman.

Casket bearers will be: Ben Aguirre, Larry Hicks, Meryel Jay, Vernon Rattan, Daryle Presley and Troy Childers.

Honorary bearers will be: Sonny Miller, Terry Fletcher, Steve Fletcher and Rob Fletcher.

Wilbern Dees

Graveside services with military honors for longtime Shawnee resident Wilbern "Tip" Dees are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Dees, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at Sulphur Veterans Home. He was born Aug. 19, 1917 in Eufaula to Herby Albert and Letha Pearl (McCurley) Dees.

He was a farmer, construction worker and truck driver for many years.

Dees married Beatrice Jones, of Seminole County, in 1951 and she preceded him n death on April 18, 2001.

In addition, his parents; three sisters, Blanch Turner, Edna Turner and Leona Russell and one brother, Verlin Dees of Arkansas preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Caroline Helen Cole of San Jacinto, Calif. and LeKatha Fay Dees of Oklahoma City.

Jesus Diaz

A memorial service for Bowlegs resident Jesus "Jesse" Diaz is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Willet, N.Y.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Jesus "Jesse" Diaz, 79, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at his home. Jesse was born in Cherryvale, Kan., on June 10, 1927, a son of the late Generoso and Josephine (Suarez) Diaz.

His family moved to Solon Pond, N.Y., in 1928,where Jesse grew up and attended school.

A longtime farmer in Willet, he lived a long and prosperous life and touched the hearts of many, young and old.

He has lived his last 20 years in Bowlegs, where he enjoyed what he loved the most in life – "raising and fighting chickens", which he enjoyed for many years in New York. Ask those that remember the "Diaz Cock Fight Raid" of 1971.

Jesse served his country in the Merchant Marines and the United States Army, returning to marry Mildred Gofgosky of Willet on July 15, 1946.

They enjoyed 61 years together and raised seven children.

He worked at the old Cincinnatus Bordens Milk Plant; the Lisle Co-op Milk Plant; the Hartford Milk Plant; part-time at the Coventry Milk Plant; and spent 40 years farming in Willet and Marathon, N.Y.

He loved to bowl and play pitch with many wonderful friends he enjoyed in his life. In his younger years he was also an avid baseball player.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stanley (Doc) Jess Diaz in 1973; his great-granddaughter, Jessica Mae Rice in 1994; his brothers, Angel, Joseph, Emilio, Frank, Raymond and Henry; and his sister, Josephine (Don) Wight.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred (Gofgosky) Diaz of Bowlegs; his brother, Manual and Ulrica Diaz of Ala.; his sister, Sara and Harold Brown of Marathon, N.Y.; children, Diane Johnson of Seminole, Jesse Diaz of Syracuse, N.Y., Kenneth and Patricia (Gilbert) Diaz of Cincinnatus, N.Y., Donna Goff of New Milford, Pa., Darla and Larry Rutan of Willet and Debi and Michael Docalavich of Maiden, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jesse may be directed to the Seminole Fire Department.

Henryetta Dick

Funeral services for lifelong Maud resident, Henryetta (Williams) Dick, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole.

Chaplain Donnie Knight and Rev. Malcom Tiger are to officiate. Wake services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Interment is to follow services at the William’s Family Cemetery, southeast of Maud, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Dick, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at her home. She was born Nov. 22, 1938 in Maud to Joney Williams and Ellen (Chupcogee) Williams.

She was a longtime member of the Achena Presbyterian Church, southeast of Maud, and enjoyed singing hymns and in her native Seminole language.

On Dec. 2, 1972 she married Walter A. Dick in Shawnee and he preceded her in death April 14, 1990.

Her parents and one sister, Lela Williams (November 2005) also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Diana Nero of Maud; one brother, Charlie Williams of Maud; and two great-great nephews, whom she helped raise, Jarrod Cline of Prague and Joseph Davis of Shawnee.

Casket bearers will be: Tony Berryhill, Jarrod Cline, Joseph Davis, Lynn Pettite, John Shaw and Tony Estep.
