Ronald Carlton Fuqua, "Rod", passed away on Aug. 30, 2007 in Glendale Ariz., he was born July 8, 1932, in Seminole, he was 75 years of age.
Rod grew up in Seminole, and graduated Seminole High School. Afterward, he continued in business with his father, R.N. Fuqua, owner of National Concrete Co.
Ronnie managed their Concrete Plant at Bartlesville, Okla., as well as several smaller plants in other Oklahoma cities. Some of the projects they worked on in the 1950’s, were the Lake Texoma Lodge, the northern half of Turner Turnpike, as well as many projects in and around Seminole and other parts of Oklahoma.
Interesting tidbit: The portable plant that furnished the concrete for the Lake Texoma Lodge was set up on the lake and the water was pumped directly out of the lake to mix the concrete.
Later, Rod drove trucks for several years, and received an award for logging over one million miles as an interstate truck driver.
Rod enjoyed a good game of pool especially with his five brothers. Rod also was a fan of Country Western music and enjoyed dancing. Rod had been in bad health for several years.
He is survived by his son Randal Keith and wife Anna of Wash.; daughter, Rhonda Fritch and husband Jeff of Las Vegas, Nev.; and grandchildren: Ezra, Damian, Davian and Darian Fuqua of Nevada, Jennifer Fritch Goldsmith and husband, Joe of Ada, Valerie and Jonna Fritch of Las Vegas, Israel Fritch of Las Vegas.
Rod had great-grandchildren: Casey and Cora Goldsmith, Ada and Joshua Keith Fuqua; his brothers, Wyatt of Las Vegas, Wayne and wife Deanna of San Jose, Calif., Willard of Glendale, Ariz.; and his sister, Lois and husband Gene Oyler of Glendale, Ariz.; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The mother of his children, Anita Roberts Fuqua, Las Vegas, also survived Rod.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, R.N. Fuqua and Tessie Hall Fuqua Thomas, and brothers, Bob and Daryl.
Rods family and friends will miss the good times we shared.
Rod will be laid to rest near family members in Little Cemetery at Little, Okla.
Nancy Gibbs
Graveside services for Nancy Leon Gibbs of Carrollton, Ga., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Concord Cemetery with Pastor Shae Tallent officiating.
Services are under the direction of Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton, Ga.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, from 5 – 8 p.m.
Mrs. Nancy Leon Gibbs, age 51, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007. She was born May 12, 1956 in Hughes County, Okla., to Eva Marilyn Wade Pierce and Thomas J. Russell, Sr.
Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, sewing, needle craft, and collected pig figurines. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Chickasha, Okla.
Survivors include her husband, Charley F. "Chuck" Gibbs; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Marie and Ben Gergens of Norman; her father, Thomas J. Russell, Sr. of Cyril, Okla.; her mother, Eva Marilyn Wade Pierce of Carrollton, Ga.; a sister, Laura Ann Schuh of Auburn, Calif.; a brother, Thomas James "Tommy" Russell, Jr. of Liberty, Ind.; a grandchild, Willow Marie Gibbs; and a half-sister, Mary Beaudin of Sherman, Ore.
Christine Gibson
Funeral services for Konawa resident Christine Gibson were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Kellos Walker and Houston Tiger officiating.
Burial followed the services at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Gibson, 73, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born March 2, 1934 in Konawa to Marcy Gibson and Maude (Wood).
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Vamoosa Schools. She was a homemaker.
Gibson was baptized at an early age at Salateeska Baptist Church in Shawnee and was of the Seminole Nation Tribe.
Her parents; stepmother, Lucy Gibson; brothers, Richmond Harjo, Amond Harjo, Jack Gibson, Tony Gibson, Roman Harjo and an infant brother and one sister, Pauline Panoske preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Carol Walker Cathey of Bowlegs, Kay Walker Lehman of Konawa, Gina Burgess Lankford of Shawnee and Tiffany Jo Walker of Shawnee; four sons, Dean Walker of Konawa, Terry Walker of Wewoka, David Walker of Shawnee and Ronnie "RB" Burgess of Seminole; two sisters, Joan (Dorset) Pickens of Ada and Cynthia Cooper of Castle; one brother, Marc Gibson of Okemah and numerous grandchildren.
Jack Gill
There are no services scheduled at this time for longtime Seminole resident Jack Perry Gill.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Gill, 74, died Thursday, June 16, 2007. He was born May 12, 1933 in Amasa, Mich., to Harry and Villian (Perry) Gill.
He was retired from the United States Air Force and he was married to Edith Iona Hoft, she preceded him in death on March 6, 1993.
His parents and one daughter also preceded him in death.
Surviving is his grandson, Jesse Babb of Norman.
Robert Gist
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Robert Lee "Bob" Gist are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Pollard and Rev. Doyle Long officiating.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Seminole.
Bob, 73, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1933 in Seminole to Charles Robert Gist and Stella (Blankenship) Gist.
On April 11, 1953 he married Lucille Evans in Seminole and had worked for 23 years at Wolverine Tube in Shawnee as a maintenance superintendent. He retired on Feb. 1, 1996.
Bob served on the Varnum School Board and was an avid horseman. He attended Glad Tidings Church and was a graduate of Varnum High School.
His parents, brothers, sisters and one granddaughter, Pattie Gist, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Lucille Gist of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Don Inman of Seminole; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lee Jr. and Tammy Gist of Shawnee, Rick and Sheila Gist of Seminole and Randy and Beth Gist of Nixa, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Sherry and Candice Gist, Stacy Pattison, Danny Gist, Brandy McMillan, Josh Salyers, Tyler Inman, Bobbie Clark, Ashley Clark and Chad Inman and seven great-grandchildren, Autumn Gist, Dathon Thomas, Bailey Smock, Ashlynn McMillan, Austin, Andrew and Abby Inman.
Pallbearers for the services will be Brian Adams, Mike Hargis, Terry Hargis, Danny Gist, Josh Salyers and Tyler Inman.
Patsy Glover
Funeral services for Sasakwa native Patsy Ruth Gloves are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Purcell.
Officiating will be Dr. Mike Butler and Rev. Bob Atterby with services under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Purcell.
Glover, 73 of Purcell, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007 at Norman regional Hospital. She was born on July 22, 1934 in Sasakwa as the oldest of four children born to Dave Marion Cargill and Ada Margaret Bruton Cargill.
She grew up on a farm west of Sasakwa and graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, William Cloyce Glover, on June 29, 1952.
The first ten years of marriage the couple lived in the Oklahoma City area and then in 1963 they made their home in Purcell.
Glover worked at First American Bank in Purcell, starting as a secretary, and after 33 years of service, she retired as Vice-President.
Her parents, husband, and brother, Phillip Cargill, preceded her n death.
Surviving is one son, Dr. David Glover of Guthrie; two daughters, Kim Cummings and Kerri Howell, both of Purcell; two sisters, Avanell McFerran of Sasakwa and Rhonda Monroe of Holdenville; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers for the services will be: Harry Crenshaw, Jared Feroli, Dave Tarp, Brad Clark, John Denny Montgomery, Brad Fernberg and D.J. Magness.
Honorary bearers will be: Robert Mixer, Lavoy Green, Ted Clark, Tommy Smith, Leroy Passmore, T. Buck Folks, Alton Dragoo, Flynn Bost, Larry Ewing, Mike Murphy and the employees of First American Bank, Purcell.
Hope, Faith Goodman
Graveside services for, Hope and Faith Goodman, the infant twins of Dustin Goodman and Brittany Veitenheimer, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Brown’s Cemetery, Tecumseh.
Shari Cathcart will be officiating and services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
The newborns died Monday, March 12, 2007 and were born Sunday, March 11, 2007.
Surviving are their parents of Shawnee; grandparents, Kirk and Edwana Goodman of Wewoka, Pete and Lisa Veitenheimer and Kenneth and Leann Martin and great-grandmother, Chick Goodman of Wewoka.
William Goodnight
Funeral services for Seminole County native, William "Bill" Goodnight, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Open Door Church of God in Shawnee.
Burial is to follow at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Bill Goodnight went to be with his best friend, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007. He was born on Oct. 12, 1941 to his parents, Everett and Lorene Goodnight.
Bill graduated from Dale High School in 1959. At the age of 12, he went to work for River Rest Turkey Farm, where he worked up to being hatchery manager, until the farm closed in 1972.
He then started his own business of Bill Goodnight Custom Dump Truck & Tractor Service, which he ran until 2005.
Bill enjoyed life, laughter (hard and loud), and being with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to work.
Bill was active with open door Church of God in the building program, music, youth, and also as a youth camp counselor until 2001.
His father, Everett Goodnight, and brother, Jim Goodnight, preceded him in death.
Surviving family members are his wife, Barbara Goodnight of the home; mother, Lorene Goodnight; children: Bilynda and Dan Luschen, Bill Goodnight, and Bryan and Peggy Goodnight; siblings: Leon Goodnight, Gene and Linda Goodnight; and Glenda Kennedy; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Steve and Barbara Allen and family; and many other family and friends.
Debra Gould
Graveside services for Seminole resident Debra Lynn Gould are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Debra passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at her home, following a lengthy illness, at the age of 44. She was born Jan. 6, 1963 in Martinez, Calif., to parents Ronald Gerald Gould, Sr., and Roberta Lee (Lucas) Griffie.
Debra moved to Seminole 18 years ago from California. She loved her horses and also loved barrel racing. She had worked as a waitress as well as a truck driver.
Survivors include her mother, Roberta Lee Griffie and her husband Phillip of Chillicothe, Ohio; father, Ronald Gould Sr., and his friend, Brenda, of Lexington, Okla.; two sons, Shaun Gould of Texas and Joshua Matthews of Cushing; three daughters, Mandy Moisa of Phoenix, Ariz., Tiffany Moisa of Roswell, N.M., and Brittany Moisa of Roswell, N.M.; one special daughter, Jami Harjo of Maud; three brothers and sister-in-law, Richard Gould of Seminole, Robert Gould of Oklahoma City, and Ronald and Misty Gould of Balko, Okla.; one sister and brother-in-law, Annette Gould Martinez and husband Jose of Riverdale, N.Y.; a special friend, Jack Fowler of Wewoka and grandchildren, Nicole, Isabella, David, Haley and Jaci.
Her brother, Alex Ray Gould, and her grandparents, Mary Rose, Lee Lucas, Laverne and George Gould, preceded her in death.
Billy Graham
Funeral services for Wewoka native Billy Joe (Alfonso) Graham are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church with Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Richard Graham officiating.
Interment will be at the Tebe Family Cemetery under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Graham died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2007 at the age of 68. He was born Jan. 9, 1939 in Wewoka to Charles C. Graham and China B. (Davis) Graham.
He attended Douglas Schools and was a member of Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. Graham was an ordained deacon at St. Paul’s Baptist prior to joining Cedar Creek Eufaula.
Graham married Rebecca Tebe July 5, 2003 at Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa, Debra and Kimley Graham of Seminole; three sons, Richard, Russell, and Billy Graham Jr., stepson Max Bailey; four sisters, Hazel Bank of Seminole, Betty Alexander of Wewoka, Brenda James, Oklahoma City, and Sharlene Graham of California; and two brothers, Oscar Gray of Oklahoma City and Franklin Gray of Wewoka.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Alexander, Ronnie Harjo, Thomas "Fuzz" James, Jerome Hill, Anthony Hill, Eugene Harjo Jr., Reggie Parker and Marcus Brown.
