Memorial services for Junior Graves were held on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Council Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gary Pollard officiating.
Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Junior was born on March 16, 1930 to Audie and Nina (Harrison) Graves in Carr City, Okla. He went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, March 14, 2007, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
His mother passed away when he was nine months old and his grandfather and grandmother Graves raised him. His father preceded him in death in 1979.
For the past 33 years, Junior owned and operated Graves Auto Sales in Seminole with the help of his wife, Shirley, and sons Doug and Mark. He loved the challenge of auto sales and excelled in his field.
Junior’s greatest love in life was his home and family.
In addition to his wife and sons were his four grandsons, Jeremy, John, DJ and Kaden; great-grandsons, Gavin and Tatum; one great-granddaughter, Jozlynn; daughters-in-law, Regina and Felicia; granddaughter-in-law, Chrystal; two brothers, David and Jerry and one sister, Iris.
Junior loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Seminole, where he currently served as a Board member and had for eight years. His Pastor, Gary and Cora Pollard, were very special to him.
His last words were "I love you". This says it all. The love he gave and the love he received.
We love you with all our hearts Honey, Dad, Pa-Pa and Pops. We miss you so much but one day we will meet you in Heaven.

Alva Gray
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Alva Lynn Gray are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment is to follow at Dora Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Gray, 61, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 in Wewoka. He was born Feb. 11, 1946 in Oklahoma City to Alva and Lela (West) Gray.
His brother, Sterling of Nicoma Park and sister, Shirley of Tahlequah, survive him.
Nettie Gray
Graveside services for longtime Wewoka resident Nettie Gray are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Services will be under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Gray died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the age of 87.
She was born to Sam Barney Dobbs and Eva Elizabet Barnes Dobbs on June 19, 1920 at the family farm south of Wewoka.
Her parents operated a successful farming operation, raising cattle, horses, mules, hogs and other livestock as well as a variety of crops, from which they derived their livelihood.
Gray’s father passed away in 1924 and much of the family assets were depleted due unfortunate circumstances surrounding his death.
Gray, along with her mother and sister Alice, remained in the home was joined later by an older half-brother, Verdie Bible.
He was a father figure to the girls and continued to operate the farm .
In 1941 when the World War started, Gray’s first husband was drafted into the army and received his basic training in Florida and Georgia.
Gray went along and found employment in a shipyard in Savannah, Ga., as a welder.
She remained with her husband until he was shipped overseas in which he took part in the evasion and victory in Europe.
She returned home from Georgia and took residence with her mother for a year or so.
Shortly after the war ended, the marriage to her first husband was dissolved and Gray continued to reside with her mother on the family homeplace.
She married George Gray in 1946 and the couple made their home in Wewoka.
Gray was a housewife and cared for her mother until her death at the age of 98.
She always grew vegetables, plants and flowers of all kinds and kept he house and lawn well-maintained and still had time for others.
Gray also had time to care for children when family and friends needed full-time or part-time childcare.
Gray was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her step-children, Donna and DeWayne Holland, Wewoka, George Gray, Waggaman, La., and Glenda Sneed, Shawnee; and by several nieces and nephews
Barney Green
A funeral liturgy for Maud native, Barney Gordon Green, was held at St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg, Md., and burial will follow at 12 p.m. Friday at Wanette cemetery, Wanette, Okla.
Green, 94 of Sykesville, Md., died Wednesday, July 11, 2007. He was born Aug. 13, 1912 in Maud to Jess David and Georgia Mae Oaf Green.
He had been a banker for First National Bank of Maud and was a farmer for many years.
Green was an avid golfer and football fan, especially for his alma mater, The University of Oklahoma.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Cora Nell Green, and daughters, Nell and Mary Ann Green.
Surviving are daughters, Marie Evick of Gainesville, Va., and Marilyn Harman of Sykesville, Md.; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, Sykesville, Md.
Donald Green
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Donald Edward Green were held today at 10:30 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronald Chastine officiating.
Interment followed at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Green died on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his residence at the age of 79. He was born on Feb. 3, 1928 in Cheyenne, Okla., to Robert Whitfield and Birdie Dee (Clark) Green.
He married Loloa (Whitson) on April 15, 1988 in Ft. Smith, Ark.; she survives him of the home.
He was a jet engine mechanic at Tinker Field for fifteen years; he later worked for Seminole County District 3 and was a ranch foreman.
Green served in the Merchant Marines and the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a member of the Twin Oak Baptist Church.
His parents, one son, Roy Green, four sisters: Geneva Holmes, Rheba Burkhalter, Margie Blackburn, Leta Faye Wiggins and two brothers: Robert Clark Green and Roy Green preceded him in death.
He is also survived by his four sons: Forrest Green of Gage, Edward Green of Jay, Terrel Green of Texhoma and Keith Green of Moore; three step-sons: Monte Horton of Tulsa, Greg Horton of Oklahoma City and Michael Horton of Norman; two daughters: Gaylia Green of Seminole and Doneta Hill of Bethel; two brothers: Raymond Green of Jackson, Calif., and Rheuben Green of Rush Springs; one sister, Cuba Coates of Seminole; 30 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Eva Green
Graveside services for longtime Konawa resident, Eva Inez (Harper) Green are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Konawa Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Sates and Rev. Wesley Martin officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Green died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Frances Care center in Ada at the age of 83. She was born on Oct. 19, 1923 in Pottawatomie County to Ernest and Hettie (Jordan) Harper.
She attended schools at Sacred Heart Mission, Georgetown and Ray City. On May 25, 1941 she married Virgel Green in Pottawatomie County.
Green was a homemaker and live-in caretaker in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas for many years.
Her parents; husband, (Dec. 25, 1967; two sisters, Louise Shawn and Marcie Reese; one brother, Ernest Harper Jr., and two grandsons, Thomas Birdwell and Brian Langston preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry Green of Asher and David Green of Konawa; three daughters, Sandra Langston of Pensacola, Fla., Marilyn Norman of Konawa and Carolyn Eberle of Konawa; one sister, Wynema Merrell of Konawa; special friend and caregiver, Donna Hobbs of Konawa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons and family. Honorary bearers will be Walter Lamb, Bruce James, Brett Phillips, Keith Allicock, George Clay, Clarence Osborne and Don Herman.
Sylvester Griffis
There are no services planned for Lima native Sylvester Griffis and his burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
Griffis, 69 of Wichita Falls, Texas died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born Oct. 25, 1938 in Lima to Hovert and Beulah (Elam) Griffis.
He attended school in Lima and Douglas High School in Wewoka. He also attended El Reno Junior College and the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Griffis served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Postal service and retired after 15 years.
In El Reno he married Shirley Anderson, and she preceded him in death.
One son, Gregory; his parents; and three brothers: Elmer Lee, Johnell and Philemon Griffis, also preceded him in death.
Surviving is one daughter, Kim Cain of Maryland; two sons: Mark and Eric Griffis of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Raymond Grifis of Houston, Texas and James Griffis of Norman; and five sisters: Clairetha Davis of Los Angeles, Calif., Joyce Griffis of Oklahoma City, Joann Napoleon of Midwest City, Glorise Fay Edwards of Lima and Mary Soloman of El Reno.
Donna Griffith
There are no services planned at this time for Seminole resident Donna Jean Griffith.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Griffith, 57, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1949 in Yale, Okla., to Harold Burnett and Frieda (Morris) Willimas.
She moved to Seminole from Arkansas City, Ark., 14 years ago and was a homemaker and a medicine nurse at Pioneer Nursing Home. In addition, she worked at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.
On June 17, 1990 she married Terry John Griffith in Portland, Texas.
She was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.
Her father, sister Patty Burnett, son Kenneth Monroe Burnett and brother, Forrest Sumter, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of the home; three sons, Kevin Bennett of Tulsa, Brent Griffith and John Griffith, both of Grove; two daughters, Amber Bennett of Seminole and Kimberly Bennett of Tulsa; mother, Frieda Williams of Arkansas City, Ark.; three brothers, Jimmy Burnett of Wichita, Kan., Tommy Burnett of Purcell, Okla., and Jimmy Sumter of Albra, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Winters of Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and stepmother, Mary Burnett of Seminole.
