Services for longtime Seminole resident John W. Hancock are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Revs. Carl Whitfield and Steve Cline will officiate.
Hancock, passed away July 11, 2007, in Shawnee at the age of 75.
He was born May 17, 1932 in Amity, Arkansas to Norman and Lois (Cook) Hancock.
John grew up in Arkansas and Moved to Seminole 49 years ago.
John graduated from Allen High School and attended East Central University in Ada.
He worked for Sun Oil Company for over 43 years as a gauger.
John was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and served as a deacon at Harvey Road Baptist Church for some years.
Hancock also served his country in the Army National Guard as a Master Sergeant from 1954-1962 and was a member of American Legion Post 204 in Seminole.
John met and married Janette "Hook" Brooks on June 18, 1953 in Ada.
Hancock is survived by his wife Janette "Hook" Hancock of the home in Seminole; two sons and a daughter in law, Jerry Hancock of Houston, Texas and Mike and Kelly Hancock of Edmond; two daughters and a son-in- law, Anita and Billy Ranells of Konawa, and Sandra Hancock of the home in Seminole; two brothers LeRoy Hancock of Sandi, Texas and Leon Hancock of Madill; four grandchildren and their spouses, Johna and Josh Lee, Tragg and Chrystal Ranells, Kelsey Hancock and Micha Hancock and five great grandchildren Logan, Dalton and Carson Ranells and Jacie and Jalynn Lee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, O’Lecia Knighten.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ranells, Tragg Ranells, Josh Lee, Randy Figley, and Ricky, Robby, and Terry Hancock and Mike Walker.
Honorary bearers will be Jerry Hancock, Mike Hancock, Kenneth Figley, Brian Hopkins and Rick Haworth.
Ernie Haney
Funeral services for former Seminole area resident Ernie Haney are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel, Shawnee.
Rev. Victor Cope is to officiate with interment to follow at Johnson Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.
Mr. Haney, 62 of Shawnee, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 in Shawnee. He was born May 28, 1945 in Little to Willie and Winey (Johnson) Haney.
He graduated from Jenks High School and attended OSU-Tech in Okmulgee and graduated from Seminole Junior College.
Ernie and the love of his life, Carol (Ellis), were married for 32 years.
He was a draftsman, a graphic designer and artist. He enjoyed listening to music and taking care of his family. Ernie was also an avid OU fan.
His parents, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Carol; sons, Tracy Haney and wife Paula, Stacy Haney and Mary Soap, Vincent Haney and wife Deanna, Eric Haney and wife Redena, Brian Lowe and Victor Lowe; daughter, Tammy Winter and husband Warren; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Amelia Deer; brother, Jerry Haney and wife Barbara; and many other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday to greet friends and family.
Marshall Hanson
Funeral services for Wewoka native Marshall M. Hanson are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Baggerly South Funeral Home Chapel, Oklahoma City.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Greenhill Cemetery in Davis, Okla.
Hanson, 81 of Moore, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007. He was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Wewoka to Moss and Anna Jones Hanson.
He graduated from Wewoka High School and was a World War II Veteran having served in the U. S. Coast Guard.
Hanson was an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base for 26 years and enjoyed shuffleboard, listening to records and driving his Cadillac.
His parents and sister, Joy Botchlet, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his grandsons, Jerome Ash of Moore and Rickey Lee Ash, Jr., of Oklahoma City and three great-grandchildren.
Marie Harbeston
Funeral services for Seminole resident Marie Harbeston are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Kenneth Fent will officiate.
Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Harbeston passed away on July 10, 2007 in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 91.
She was born on June 23, 1916 in Maud to Giles and Ola (Flesher) Horn.
She married Edwin H. Harbeston on Nov. 13, 1933 in Sapulpa.
He preceded her in death in November of 1999.
Marie was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.
She was a grocery checker for 25 years at Carlton’s IGA in Seminole. She loved walking at the track with her three walking buddies.
Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Harbeston of Seminole; one brother, Roland Horn of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Mary Hammer Johnson of Yukon; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mitchell Hennen and wife Amy of Seminole, and Amy Fent and husband Kenneth of Springfield, Mo.; four great-grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew Hennen and wife Brandi and Mark Hennen and wife Erica, all of Seminole, Angel McKee and husband Cory and Caleb Fent, all of Springfield, Mo.; and five great-great grandchildren, Taylor Hennen, Jaedon Hennen, Asher Hennen, and Maggie and Silas McKee.
Marie’s mother died at an early age and she took on the responsibility of raising her younger sister, Mary, and she, along her three children Jackie, Gary and Terry survive her.
Pallbearers will be Harbeston’s grandsons, Mitchell Hennen, Andrew and Mark Hennen, Caleb Fent and Terry and Gary Hammer.
Juel Hardesty
Funeral services for Maud graduate Juel I. Hardesty were held today at 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Bill Matthews officiating.
Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Services, Shawnee.
Hardesty, 93, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007. She was born Oct. 11, 1914 in Vanita, Okla., to George F. Stacy and Mary B. (Epperson) Stacy.
She graduated from Maud High School in 1935 and on Sept. 4, 1937 she married Don Hardesty.
The couple owned and operated Hardesty Superette grocery in Shawnee until 1969.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and enjoyed church activities and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and one brother, Lee Stacy, preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter, LaDonna Freeman of Shawnee; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Margaret Hardin
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Margaret Hardin are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole with Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Margaret (Harris) Northcott Hardin, 94, passed from this life Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home, at the age of 94. She was born Aug. 19, 1913 in Willis, Okla., to parents, Royal Ernest and Lillie Mae (Nolen) Harris.
She graduated from Bowlegs High School and went on to marry Robert Lee Northcott on Jan. 7, 1933. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1962.
Margaret later married Bert Hardin on Aug. 12, 1983. She worked as a saleslady for Curry Hardin Furniture for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and a past mother advisor for the Rainbow girls.
Margaret was the ultimate caregiver. She always put others needs before her own. Her greatest joy was her family; no greater teacher, confidant or friend could be found. She welcomed everyone with grace and compassion.
"Bitty Maw" will be missed everyday by her eight sons and daughters-in-law: Don and Erma Northcott of Seminole, Ed Northcott of Mead, Okla., Bob and Richenda Northcott of Bowlegs, Richard and Sharon Northcott of Seminole, Tom and Terri Northcott of Oklahoma City, Edward and Suzanne Hardin of Seminole, Joe and Nancy Hardin of Seminole and Dr. Walter Hardin of Washington State; and our daughters and sons-in-law: Sybil Turner of Mead, Judy and Lee Oates of LaPorte, Texas, Janie and Willie Owens of LaPorte, Texas, and Frieda and Frank Dunlap of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Other survivors include one sister-in-law, Aloha Harris of Oklahoma City; 31 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Lee Nothcott (Nov. 30, 1962); husband, Bert Hardin (June 16, 1999); one daughter, Linda Suzanne Northcott and one grandson, Kenneth Bush.
Anna Harjo
Funeral services for Holdenville resident Anna Christine Harjo are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Sand Creek Eufaula Church in Holdenville with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Jimpsey Harjo officiating.
Interment is to follow at Harjo-West Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Wake services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sand Creek Eufaula Church.
Harjo, 49, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 in Holdenville. She was born Feb. 28, 1957 in Talihina to Joseph and Rose Mae (West) Harjo.
She graduated from Eufaula High School and worked for Komar Industry as a seamstress. She was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Church.
Her parents, brother, John Harjo and sister, Teresa Harjo preceded her in death.
Surviving is her companion, Jimmy Tiger; daughter, Emily; daughter, Darleata Harjo; sons, Tim Harjo and Jim Johnson III; brother, Leonard Harjo and two grandchildren, all of Holdenville.
Christy Harjo
Funeral services for Varnum High School graduate Christy Jo Harjo were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole.
Rev. Don Jacobs officiated.
Burial was to follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery near Wewoka Woods, and was under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.
Harjo died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 near Oil Center, at the age of 26.
She was born June 23, 1981 in Ada to Timothy and Rhonda Ground Harjo.
Harjo lived in this area all of her life.
She attended Homer and Byng Elementary, Byng High School, and graduated from Varnum High School.
She was active in basketball at Byng and Varnum, and softball at Byng.
Harjo also attended East Central University in Ada.
She was employed in the Chickasaw Nation at the Carl Albert emergency department and float pool.
Harjo was a member of Mitchell Memorial United Methodist Church and the Chickasaw Nation Dance Troupe.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy Harjo, Jr. and Jerome Emarthle.
Survivors include her son, Nokosi Joe Harjo, of the home; her father, Timothy Harjo, Ada; her mother, Rhonda Harjo, Ada; three brothers, Chupco Harjo, Ada, Conjot Harjo, Ada and Timothy Deatherage, Ada; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Randy Ground, Ricky Ground, Thomas Hallett, Nathan Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, and Robert Johnson.
Honorary bearers were Jacob Galvin, Gus Porter, Billy Porter, Eddie Gardner and Kevin Chapman.
