Funeral services for Konawa native Edmond Harjo are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Burial is to follow at the Cornelius Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Harjo, 78 and a longtime Ada/Latta area resident, died Sunday, Jan.21, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 25, 1928 in Konawa to Fousharjochee Harjo and Yahnah Morgan.
He served in the United States Army as a Medic during the Korean War. On April 12, 1954 he married Lucy Mae Cornelius in Seminole and worked as a truck driver for a moving company for several years.
Harjo is a founding member of Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
His parents; wife, Lucy (August 1992); one daughter, Carol Hawkins; one grandson, Micah Hawkins; two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving is son, Clifford Harjo of Holdenville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Grace Harjo
Funeral services for Seminole resident Grace Factor Harjo are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the High Springs Baptist Church in Konawa.
Wake services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with services under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Harjo, 82, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 in Oklahoma City. She was born Sept. 11, 1924 in Konawa to Isaac and Marie (Dirt) Factor.
She attended Central Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and was baptized at Eufaula Boarding School.
Her parents; husband, Allen Harjo Sr.; one son, Samuel Isaac Harjo and four brothers, Sam Factor, Johnny Camp, Joe Camp and Junior Camp, preceded her in death.
Surviving are six children: Carl Franklin Harjo of Oklahoma City, Allen Harjo, Jr. of Seminole, Carolyn Harjo Littlefield of Darnestown, Md., Bruse Kirby Harjo and Warren Steven Harjo, both of Oklahoma City, and Cynda Marie Harjo Goddard of Moore; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Henry Harjo
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Henry Harjo are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with a burial to follow at Williams Family Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Wake services will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Harjo, of Henryetta, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at his residence at the age of 66. He was born Sept. 1, 1940 to Joe and Bessie Harjo.
He attended the Sulphur School of the Deaf and his hobbies included camping and fishing with his family.
His parents, brothers Albert Harjo, Joe Holatha, Evan Harjo and one grandson Kevin Brown precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Harjo of the home; three daughters, Michelle Brown, Tammy Katzenmeier of Kansas and Kelly Ray of Okemah; one son, Rodger Sherman of Kansas; six sisters, Helen Tatum of Konawa, Arlinda Smith, Annie Harjo, Estella Berryhill, Faye Holatha, and Regina Holatha of Okemah and three brothers, Raymond "Ringo" Harjo of Konawa, Lewis Holatha and Timmy Holatha of Okemah.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Chaz Lumley, Joseph Wolfe, Jeremy Culver, David Poston, Bryant Akerman and Brent Akerman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Williams, David Brown, Rodger Sherman, Troy Fisher, Lindsey Bondoni, Charlie Williams, Jeff Harjo and Chad Huckleberry.
Jimmy Harjo
Funeral services for Konawa resident Jimmy Joe Harjo were held today at 2 p.m. at Spring Church with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Leon Postoak officiating.
Interment followed at Harjo Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Harjo died Friday, March 2, 2007 at his home at the age of 63 years. He was born June 3, 1943 in Sasakwa to Joe Barney and Minnie Harjo.
He was a Sasakwa graduate and resided in Sasakwa until 2003 when he moved to Konawa. Harjo furthered his education at Haskell College in Lawrence, Kan. and served in the United States Army from 1961-1969 in the Viet Nam conflict.
His parents, brothers Albert Harjo and Jimsey Harjo and sisters Irene Coody and Ellsie Taylor preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Gwendolyn Harjo of the home; stepchildren, Janice Motley of Ada, Keith Motley and Jeanette Motley, both of Konawa, Travis Rednose, Michael McCurtain, Linn Heath and Kenneth Waldron; brothers, Jessie Harjo and Eugene Harjo; sister, Elouise Harjo; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers fro the services were Travis Lena, Clifton Coody, Herman Coody, Jimmy Taylor, Frank Coody, Chris Saffell and Velma "Bundy" Coon.
Honorary bearers were Harrison Doolin, Pide Splaw and Lloyd Lee Harjo.
Mary Jane Harjo
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Mary Jane Harjo are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Sand Creek Church with Houston Tiger officiating.
Burial is to follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery, located at the Harjo residence on Old SH 59 in Bowlegs.
Wake services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the family home with arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Harjo, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at her home. She was born June 26, 1935 in Bowlegs to Jimpsey and Sally (Narcomey) Carbitcher.
She married Johnson Harjo and he preceded her in death in November of 1991. She was a retired seamstress and homemaker.
Her parents; husband; sons, Vincent Harjo and Christopher Daniels; sister, Saphornie Brown and brothers, Jimmy Carbitcher, Webster Wise, Andrew Wise-Talamsey and Babe Adams preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond Harjo of Norman, Curtis Harjo of Maud and Darrin Harjo of Holdenville; four daughters, Phyllis Harjo of Bowlegs, Yolanda Harrison of Oklahoma City, Debra Emarthle of Roff and Lynda Harrison of Oklahoma City; two brothers; Lewis Wise of Bowlegs and James Billie of Florida; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Terry Wise, Jimpsey Carbitcher, Buffalo Hill, Eric Yahola, Ricky Harjo and Isiah Fixico. Honorary Bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Wallace Harjo
Services for former Seminole County resident Wallace Harjo are scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Strother Indian Community Center north of Seminole with Mike Harjo and Dorsey Nero officiating.
A wake service was held last night at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
An all night service is scheduled at the Strother Community Center at 4 p.m. today.
Harjo died Jan. 4 in an automobile accident in Broward County Florida.
He was born June 23, 1959 in Talihina to George and Christine B. Harjo of Seminole.
Harjo was a tribal member of the Seminole Nation Eufaula Band and of the Sweet Potato Clan. He was also a member of the United States Army Reserve and the Hitchitee Methodist Church. Harjo attended Varnum Schools.
Harjo was a freelance employee who traveled throughout the United States.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kimble B. Harjo, and grandparents Sampson B. Harjo, Sena Larney, Siah Brown and Lucy Clark.
Survivors include six brothers, Thomas Ahaissee of Shawnee, Sam B. Harjo, Henrietta, Mody B. Harjo of Denver, Colo., Marsey B. Harjo, McCloud, Yogi B. Harjo, Del City, and William B. Harjo of Seminole; four sisters, Lucy Smith, Nancy Fixico, and Sonja Larney, all of Seminole, and Sharon Proctor of Okmulgee; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Tom Harjo, Sam Harjo, Jr., Ryan Smith, Jeff Fixico, Kimbo Harjo, Timothy Proctor, J.B. Smith and Tenetke Harjo.
Anna Harper
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Eleanor Anna Harper are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel Home, Wewoka.
Rev. Jerry Baker and Rev. Joe Lowe will be co-officiating with interment at Harper Family Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Harper died Friday, Oct. 25, 2007 at Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah. She was born April 8, 1920 in Wewoka to Alfred and Anna Mae (Benden) Harper.
She grew up in Wewoka and graduated from Butner High School. After graduation she worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City and then returned to Seminole County.
Harper was a member of Arbeka Methodist Church, Cromwell, and served as church treasurer for a number of years.
Her parents; two brothers, Herman E. and Ethan Alfred Harper; and two sisters, Jennie Bowers and Edith Brown, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her twin niece and nephew whom she adopted and raised, Karen Shurley and David Shurley, of Wewoka; son, Randolph Stephenson of Wewoka and her sisters, Louise Horton of Wewoka, Florence Harper of Tulsa, and Lucille Gibson of Bartlesville.
Floyd Harrington
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Floyd Orval Harrington are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Rev. Charles Welch (Harrington’s brother-in-law from Tulsa) will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Harrington, 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 in Joplin, Mo. He was born May 30, 1935 in Wewoka to O.F. Harrington and Lavaner Flora (Ferguson) Harrington.
In 1961 he and his family moved to Blackwell, Okla., for a short time and then to Enid, in 1965. In Enid he co-owned and operated Tools Plus, an oilfield supply company, until he retired in 2000.
He and his wife moved to Anderson, Mo., in 2002. They were affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church in Enid and the Patterson Heights Baptist Church in Tiff City, Mo.
His parents; one daughter, Pamela Jantz (Sept. 1, 2006); and four brothers, John Melvin, Clifford, Don and Glen Harrington preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Ola Mae (Welch) Harrington of the home; one daughter, Brenda Smith of Enid; two sisters, Dean Taylor and Nancy Snow of Enid; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be: Ray Harrington, Aaron Harrington, John Bailey, Kenneth Baiser, Mark Morgan and Mike Jantz.
Honorary bearers will be: Curtis Melon, Glen Baiser and Jim Parsons.
The family will be hosting a lunch prior to the service at Ray and Barbara Harrington’s home located at 1227 Reid Circle in Seminole.
Jack Harris
Graveside services for Sasakwa resident Jack "Podge" Harris are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Vamoosa Cemetery with Dub Tolliver officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Podge passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at his residence. He was born Dec. 10, 1933 in Sasakwa to Bert and Essie (Cunningham) Harris.
He graduated from Sasakwa High School and was self-employed in the oilfield. Podge was a member of the Church of Christ, Sasakwa, and the Masonic Lodge of Konawa.
Podge and Joyce Clark married on June 12, 1954 in Sasakwa and to this union two sons were born: Jack Lee Harris and Jeff Rodney Harris, both of Sasakwa.
His parents, wife, Joyce, and brother, Lucky, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his sons, Jack and Jeff; twin sister, Patsy of Stemple, Ark.; grandchildren: Lindsey Blake, Bert and Bo Harris; great-grandchild, Remington Blake; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Tony Raulston, Martin Sanders, John Womack, Bert Harris, Bo Harris and Ed Blake.
Honorary bearers will be: Billy Jack Norman, John L. Lewis, Corkey Norman and John Norman.
