Jennifer Howard

A time of remembrance and reflection for Jennifer Ann Howard of Morgan City, La., will be held today at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, La., from 6 - 10 p.m. with a Rosary being said at 7 p.m.

Services will continue Saturday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m., officiated by Father Danny Porche. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

The East St. Mary Parish Veteran’s Funeral Squad will conduct military honors in honor of their fallen comrade.

Services are under the direction of Hargrave Funeral Home, Morgan City, La.

Jennifer Ann Howard, 25, a native of Tyler, Texas, until six months of age, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident in Norfolk, Va.

She was a veteran of the United States Navy and served her country in Iraqi Freedom, Liberation of Liberia and was assigned to the USS Iowa Jima.

Her dates of service were from 2001 to 2006, after which she was honorably discharged.

Jennifer attended Central Catholic High School in Morgan City, graduate of 2000, and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.

She was an avid pool player and a member of the Pool Club. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. She also loved music and traveling.

She will be sadly missed by all those who were made better by knowing this wonderful young lady.

She is survived by her father, Pascal M. Howard, Esq., and her mother, Janet Ann Dragna Howard of Morgan City; her brother, Timothy M. Howard of Morgan City; her grandfather, Matt A. Dragna of Morgan City; uncles, Robert Howard and his children of Wewoka, Okla., John C. Howard and his wife, Carolyn, and their children of Edmond, Okla.; Lee Howard and his wife, Carole, and their children of Oklahoma City; Margaret A. Howard Snyder and her husband, Dr. David Snyder, and their children of Edmond, Okla., Barbara Howard Griggs and her children of Yukon, Okla., Joan Howard Imes and her husband, John Imes, and their children of Oklahoma City, James "Jamie" Howard and his wife, Tracy, and their children, of Norman, Okla., Philip Howard and his wife, Jane, of Wewoka, Okla., John Pierce and his wife, Dorthy, of Hot Springs, Ark., Barbara Pierce of Hot Springs, Ark., Anita A. Dragna Stanley and her husband, Herb, of Morgan City, and Celeste A. Dragna of Lafayette; and a host of cousins and friends.

Her grandparents, Robert and Margaret Howard of Wewoka, Okla.; grandmother, Hazel Landry Dragna; two aunts, Mary J. Howard of Oklahoma City and Christine Dragna of Morgan City; and an uncle, Andrea Dragna of Morgan City, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers to serve will be Christopher Boudreaux, Jeremy Howard, James Howard, Kyle Kiker, John Howard and Philip Howard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Burgos, Lonny Burgos, Arlo Burgos, Lance Snyder, Matt Dragna, Lee Dragna, Adam Dragna and Matt Adams

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Research Military Honors.

Cleo Hudson

Funeral services for Seminole County native Cleo Leon Hudson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Abundant Life Church in Nocona, Texas with Rev. Rod Messier officiating.

Interment is to follow in Nacona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home, Nacona.

Hudson, 76, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Nacona, Texas. He was born on Feb. 28, 1931 in Seminole County to Helen Lucille Bell and Joseph Oscar Hudson.

He served in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of sergeant. He received the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Hudson was a member of the Nocona Chapter of Disabled American Veterans and had worked in the oilfield, where he had worked his way up from a floor hand to the drilling superintendent.

He had mastered many jobs; construction, woodworker, auto mechanic, and even made boots for the Nocona Boot Company for five years.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Bonnie (Jenkins) Hudson of Nocona; seven children, Cheryl Haley of Amarillo, Texas, Dennis Keith Hudson of Ada, Lawanna Lynn Wisian of Saint Jo, Texas, Calvin Leon Hudson of Huntsville, Texas, Jerry Leon Hudson of Nocona, Laren Ray Hudson of Gainesville, Texas and Karen Faye Krahl of Gainesville; five siblings, Vera Doran and June Morgan, both of Konawa, Charlie Hudson of Maud, Afton Hudson of New Mexico and Tommy Hudson of Sasakwa; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Bobby Huggins

Memorial services with military honors for longtime Konawa area resident Bobby Glen Huggins are scheduled for Wednesday 10 a.m. at Konawa Cemetery with Pastor Pam Shirk officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Bobby Glen Huggins died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at his residence in Konawa at the age of 74. He was born on Dec. 12, 1932 in Konawa to Walter Clifford and Edith Mae (Bowerman) Huggins.

Bobby married Veda Mae (Abbott) on Dec. 19, 1955 in Ada. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2005.

Bobby enlisted in he United States Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

He received an honorable discharge and retired from the Air Force having served his country proudly for 37 years.

After retirement, he assisted with the American Legion Honor Guard for several years. He also worked as a machinist at Tinker Field.

His parents and one brother, Walter Clifford Huggins, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Glen Huggins of Tucson, Ariz. and Ted Huggins of Konawa; two daughters, Kay Coleman and Beth Woody of Konawa; one sister, Jean Wingert of Benecia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Robert Huggins, Dana Brooks, Jennifer Huggins, Andrea Brantly, Susan Coleman, Josh Coleman, Cassandra Woody, Chris Woody, Whitney Huggins, Alisha Huggins and Tyler Huggins; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Macy, Corey and Bryson and a host of other family and friends.

James Hughes

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident James August Hughes are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Norma Tate and Rev. Allen Wood officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Hughes, 87, died Friday, July 26, 2007 at his home. He was born on Aug. 21, 1919 in Hinton, Okla., to Lee Delbert Hughes and Carrie Derigo.

On Nov. 26, 1951 he married Janice Marshall in Shawnee.

As a teenager he began working as a baker at Skaggs Alpha Beta Store and then came to Seminole; opened the bakery in Homeland, and then opened and worked at the bakery at Western Sizzler.

Hughes has lived in the area for 37 years having moved from California.

He was a minister from 1968 to 1978 and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.

Hughes enjoyed baking and attended the Seminole Chieftain football games. He rode his motorcycle until the age of 80.

His parents and one daughter, Cheryl Hughes Johnson, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, James Hughes of Dallas, Texas and Ken Hughes of Seminole; two daughters, Cindy Scott and Lisa Fry, both of Seminole; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Michael Johnson, Davis Azlin, John Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Adam Botsford and Tommy Lucas.

Honorary bearers will be Dennis Hughes, Caleb Tackett, Chase Tackett, Zachary Tackett, Stevie Hughes, Jack Johnson, Brandon Raley, Angie Johnson, Katie Judd, Kyla Licwinko and Kendra Dahl.

Orion Hunt

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Orion Kenneth Hunt were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Brotherton officiating.

Full military honors followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with services under the direction of Ford Funeral Service, Midwest City.

Hunt died Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Midwest City. He was born March 8, 1017 in Mammoth Springs, Ark., to John Fisher Hunt and Iuka (Woodall) Hunt.

The family moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma during the Oil boom, where his family was in the grocery business in Weleetka, Henryetta, Konawa and Seminole.

Hunt entered the United States Army during World War II, the same day his brother, Captain John F. Hunt, Jr. was killed defending the Philippine Islands.

He was a Scout in the 90th Infantry Division and drove off into the English Channel with his waterproof jeep during the Normandy invasion of Utah Beach in France.

Hunt was wounded at the Saar River near the Siegfried line in Germany. He received the Purple Heart, Silver Service Star, and five major battle stars: Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern France and Central Europe.

He was awarded the Croix De Guerre Avec Etoile De Bronze from the French Government and the Bronze Arrowhead for participating in the assault waves of the amphibious landing on the enemy occupied coast of France.

Hunt received his high school diploma from Seminole High School as part of his military service and is a Charter Member of St. Matthew United Church of Midwest City.

He was a lifetime Democrat and a proud supporter of the Lyle Boren family.

Surviving is his niece, Jo Ann Hunt of Ada and his nephew, John R. "Bob" Hunt of Oklahoma City.

JoAnn Hunter

Graveside services for Wewoka resident JoAnn Marie (Wade) Hunter are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18. at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Hunter was born Feb. 24, 1937 at Wewoka to Charles Alva and Ethel Mae (Boster) Wade and passed away Jan. 13, 2007 at the age of 69.

She graduated from Kerman High School in Kerman, Calif. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Ethel Wade; sister, Ruby Carey; and two brothers, Charles and William Wade.

Survivors include children, Dean Hunter, Leland, N.C., Sandra Marie Dunlap, Wewoka, Alfred Wade Hunter Jr., Hackett, Ark., Pamela Stewart, Wetumka, and Teri Manahan, Meza, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil Wade, Holdenville; and sisters, Mae Soares and Betty Ruhl, both of California.

Lamarr Hunter

Funeral services for former Earlsboro resident, Lamarr Kenneth Hunter, are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Word Aflame Church at 9029 East Reno in Midwest City, with interment to follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Spencer.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Hunter, of Midwest City, died Friday, April 27, 2007. He was born on March 10, 1952 to Luther Lee Hunter Sr. and Lola Lee (James) Hunter.

He grew up in the community of Spencer, Okla., and attended Rose Hill Elementary and graduated from Jones High School.

In 1972 Hunter started working at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. He also served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves for 16 years and retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 35 years on March 9, 2007.

Hunter joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age, and is currently a member at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Jones.

On June 9, 1984 in Shawnee, he married Joann (Jody) Stargell Hunter and to this union no children were born.

His parents, Luther Lee Hunter, Sr. and mother Lola Lee James and one brother, Larry D. Hunter, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; brothers, Leo Hunter of Edmond and Luther Lee Hunter Jr. of Spencer and sisters, Lee Ana Dumas of Spencer, Josie Simmons of Midwest City, Linda Hunter-Chang of Midwest City, Barbara Jean Jones of Oklahoma City, and Sharon Hunter Vick of Owasso.

Shirley Hunter

Funeral services for former longtime Seminole County resident Shirley Janet Hunter are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Shirley Hunter passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 in Holdenville, at the age 67. She was born on Dec. 9, 1939 in Anadarko, Okla.

She met and married a semi-pro baseball player, Martin L. Hunter, whom she said she would spend the rest of her life with; together they spent 49 wonderful years together. They were married on March 8, 1955 in Reno, Nev.

Her parents, and one son, Robert L. Hunter, precede her in death.

She is survived by her husband Martin L. Hunter of Holdenville; and two daughters Kelly Currier and Carla Malouf, both of Wetumka. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive her.

Pallbearers will be Robert Malouf, Bob Malouf, William Malouf, Randall Malouf and Jessie Bunyard.
