Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Elsie Kiker are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Wolf Cemetery with Rev. Allen Wood and Winifred Lowe officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Kiker, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 in Seminole. She was born Oct. 1, 1920 in Wolf to L.R. and Myrtle (Johnson) Kiker.
She graduated from Wolf High school and worked at Tinker Air Force Base. She attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Wolf.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include nieces, Donna Kiker and Carolyn Douglas, of Wolf and nephew, Stan Kiker of Seminole.
Lydia Kilcrease
Services for Lydia Mae Kilcrease, 79 of Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Memorial United Methodist Church, Rev. Don Jacobs will officiate.
Burial will follow at Steedman Cemetery. A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Services are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
Mrs. Kilcrease died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1928 at Kulihoma, Okla., to Deward and Ethel Stick Walker. She attended Kulihoma schools.
She married Roman Kilcrease in 1949. He died on March 10, 2000. Mrs. Kilcrease was a homemaker and was also employed with the Chickasaw Nation Headstart Program. She was a member of the Mitchell Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Merle Stick, Lloyd Kilcrease and Roman Kilcrease, Jr., all of Ada; three daughters, Rosie Worcester of Ada, Madelyn Huffman, and Maxine Reyes, both of Oklahoma City; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; an aunt, Pauline Walker of Ada; two nieces, Kathleen Meeley and Geneva Meeley, both of Oklahoma City; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nellie Johns; a son, Wallace Kilcrease; a brother, Winston Walker; a sister, Susie Meeley; and two nephews, Jeffrey Meeley, and Darren Meeley.
Bearers will be Terry Stick, Robert Tiger, Robert Jones, Glenn Parks, Cesar Reyes, and Merle Stick, Jr.
James King
Funeral services for Seminole resident James Monroe King are scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with military honors.
Rev. Carl Whitfield is to officiate with interment to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
King, 70 of Paris, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 3, 1936 in Telephone, Texas to Samuel L. King and Pearly (Dixon) King.
He served in the United States Army where he received a Good Conduct Medal.
He was a class A repairman for Babcock & Wilcox Boilermaker Company in Paris, Texas, where he retired in 1997.
King moved from Paris, Texas to Seminole five years ago and was active in the Seminole Heritage House.
He was also a member of the Boilermakers Union and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are three sons, Kevin King of Oklahoma City, Brian King of Allen, Texas and Harlan Ling of Malakoff, Texas; one daughter, Denise King of Oklahoma City; one brother, Bobby King of Denison, Texas; one sister, Anna P. King of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and former wife and mother of his children Mafford Nowell of Oklahoma City.
Susan King
Following cremation a memorial service will be held for Seminole resident Susan Elaine (Cornelison) King at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole at 10:30 a.m., Thursday with Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
King, 54, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 in Seminole. She was born Sept. 22, 1952 in Seminole to Claude H. Cornelison and Trisha LaNelle "Pat" (Johnson) Cornelison.
She attended Seminole High School, graduating in 1970. In 1973 she moved to Oklahoma City from Seminole and then in 1978 she moved to Daughtery, Okla., and in 1983 King moved to Checotah before returning to Seminole in 2002.
King was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Methodist church.
Her mother, Trisha LaNelle "Pat" Cornelison (1983) preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her father and stepmother, Claude and Lola Cornelison of Seminole; two daughters, Sara Langford of Oklahoma City and Emily Bledsoe of Oklahoma City; one son, Andrew Edwards of Daughtery, Okla.; two brothers, Mike Cornelison of Ada and Mark Cornelison of Checotah; one stepbrother, Steve Bronnenberg of Ada; two stepsisters, Nancy Johnson and Sharon Gamble, both of Seminole; two grandchildren; and special friend, Bob Kohl of Brainerd, Minn.
Edgar Kneisel
Funeral services for Seminole County native, Edgar L. Kneisel were scheduled for Friday at Inspiration Chapel & Napa Valley Memorial Park in Napa, Calif.
Kneisel, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was born March 16, 1922 in Seminole County.
He served in the United States Navy for four years and married Mary K. Reeder 64 years ago.
Kneisel worked for Chevron refinery for 32 years with the couple moving to Calistoga, Calif. in 1988.
His parents and a brother, Q. George Kneisel preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Mary of Calistoga; four daughters, Gwen Aylor of Oklahoma City, Linda Nichols of Calistoga, Winona Ford of Spring, Texas and Marsha Deerer of El Cerrito, Calif.; son, Greg Kneisel of Grey Eagle, Calif.; one brother, Rev. Harvey Kneisel of Pearland, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Hazel Knight
Funeral services for Wewoka native Hazel Maxine Knight were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Colonial Chapel in Oklahoma City.
Interment was scheduled to follow at Little Cemetery in Little.
Services were under the direction of Vondel Smith Mortuary North Colonial Chapel in Oklahoma City.
Knight died Saturday, Jan. 27 in Moore at the age of 91.
She was born Sept. 18, 1915 in Wewoka.
Knight worked as a shipyard welder in California during WWII, then moved back to Oklahoma and retired from Tinker AFB.
Throughout her life, Hazel was a loving and kind person.
She always maintained a positive attitude and had a wonderful way of making those around her smile.
She was a strong, caring, generous person loved by those who knew her.
Knight is survived by one sister, Dean Stancoff; one daughter, Linda Kelly; one son, Mike Knight; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Larry Lam Sr
Funeral services for Larry Wayne Lam, Sr., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Guinn officiating.
Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Lam, 55 of Shawnee, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 in Shawnee. He was born Feb. 17, 1952 in Shawnee to Edward Olen Lam, Jr. and Myrtle Irene (Jeffers) Weaver.
He attended Macomb High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era. On May 27, 1970 he married Patricia L. Garlington in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Lam was a truck driver who was passionate about his family.
His parents; one sister, Teresa Stuart; and stepfather, John Stuart, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Larry Lam Jr. and Melanie Lam of Morris, John Allen and Rhonda Lam of Shawnee, and Michael Dale and Danielle Lam of Shawnee; brother, Donnie Lam of Maud; sister, Linda Champlin of Macomb; stepbrother, Don Stuart of Seminole; grandchildren: Emily and Chloe Lam of Morris, Cassandra, Joseph, Falicia, and Montanna Lam, Devon, Austin, Makenzie, and Hunter Lam, all of Shawnee; his Wal Mart family; Tom Rushing and family; and his many nieces and nephews.
Betty Jo Lamkin
Graveside services for Betty Jo Lamkin are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Atwood Cemetery, Okla.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Betty Jo Lamkin, age 77, passed away on Jan. 2, 2007 after a four-year battle with cancer. She was born on July 17, 1929 to Vesta and Otis Patterson in Atwood, Okla.
Her mother, Vesta Key Patterson, was the daughter of William and Mary Key who owned the general store in Atwood.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1951, with a degree in Physics, Betty married Marion Eugene Lamkin, and had one daughter, Katherine, in 1952.
Betty later separated from her husband and moved to Oklahoma City to teach high school mathematics, and the couple divorced in 1961.
During the Vietnam War she relocated with her daughter to Washington, D.C., to work for the CIA on satellite surveillance and data processing computer systems.
In 1966, she moved to Houston to begin employment with IBM. As an IBM software engineer, she worked for NASA’s "First Man on the Moon" and subsequent Apollo Space projects.
After a long career with IBM, she retired in 1991 and moved to Round Rock, Texas to live near her daughter, who was also a software engineer.
Her parents and one brother, Bob Patterson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Lamkin Arnold and her sister, Louise Patterson Hudson.
She is also survived by her nephew, C.B. Hudson, his wife Jan; their sons, Ben Hudson with his wife Allison; and their daughter Payton; and Ceb Hudson (who is also a musician with the rock band, Blue October).
Her courageous fight with cancer serves as an inspiration to her family. She will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Tynya Laney
Funeral services for New Lima graduate Tynya Monique Laney are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Wewoka with Rev. E.G. Bert of St. Stephens Baptist Church of Wewoka, to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Lima Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary in Wewoka.
Laney, 35 of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2007 in Oklahoma City. She was born June 11, 1971 in Kansas City, Mo. to Delward and Hattie Mae Island.
She attended and graduated in 1989 from New Lima Schools. Laney was a former member of First Baptist Church, Lima, where she was baptized under the leadership of Rev. E.G. Bert
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sons, Domineqk and Ashton Cochran; daughters, Ashley Cochran and Alecia Leth; sisters, Sheritta and LaFondra Laney of Kansas City, Mo. and brothers, Delward Jr., James and Jerry Laney of Kansas City, Kan.
Jace Lankford
Funeral services for the infant daughter of Konawa resident Rachael Lankford are set for 2 p.m. today, July 17, 2007, at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Houston Tigers, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, with burial to follow at the Cosar Family Cemetery in Konawa.
Jace Ryan Lankford was born June 26, 2007, in Ada, and died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Jace is survived by her mother, Rachael Nicole Lankford, of Konawa; grandparents Rick and Becky Pemberton of Konawa and Jimmy Lankford of Ada; and great-grandparents Rosie Harjo of Konawa, Roy and Geraldine Lankford of Konawa, and Muriel Pemberton of Seminole.
