Funeral services for longtime Seminole County native Jack Herbert Larney are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 at the Hitchitee Methodist Church in Wewoka.
Revs. Abraham Jackson, Houston Tiger, Redmond Wolf and Mike Harjo will officiate.
Wake services will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the church.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Larney died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at Unity Health Center in Shawnee at the age of 79.
He was born Nov. 11, 1927 to Willie Yamie and Hettie (Harjo) Larney.
Larney attended Seminole Schools and worked at Seminole State College in the maintanence department.
He was a member of the Hitchitee Methodist Church and enjoyed his artwork and paintings along with his sculpture of wood and rock carving.
Larney was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Herman (Woodman) Larney, Roy Larney and Johnson Larney; and one sister, Sussie Ross Tanyan.
He is survived by one brother, Ryder Larney of Seminole; one niece, Rita Larney of Seminole; one nephew, Russell Larney of Lamar; and numerous other nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Larney, Randolph Larney, Cecil Larney, Bill Larney, Nickie Davis and Ricky Deer.

David Lawrence
Funeral services for Wewoka resident David "Buck" Lawrence are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Free Will Baptist Church of Wewoka.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Friends of the Lawrence family are asked to come celebrate the life of Buck Lawrence. He passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at his home.
Buck was born on June 18, 1930 in Maud to Charlie and Laura (Holcomb) Lawrence.
He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 and he married Clara Jo Moody on Aug. 6, 1954. They moved to Wewoka in 1961.
Buck and Clara Jo had three children, Keith Lawrence, Karen Lawrence Morrison and Becky Lawrence Pelton.
He was self-employed as a contract plumber in the oilfield for many years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the Board of Wewoka Rural Water District #2.
Buck could often be found drinking coffee with friends at Robert’s Drug Store. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Buck was gifted in his ability to fix almost anything.
Friends and family will remember Buck as being a big man with a big heart. He always had a joke or story to tell and he was always there when others needed him.
His wife, Clara Jo; his parents, Charlie and Laura Lawrence; his brothers, Charles and Jay; his sister, Lenora Ryan Brewer; his son, Keith and his daughter Karen preceded him in death.
Buck is survived by his sisters, Evelyn McGhee of Haven, Kan. and Jo Ann Walkup of Sapulpa; his daughter, Beck and her husband Dennis; four grandchildren, Kelli Cunningham and her husband Tom of Norman, Jeremiah Morrison and his wife Christian of Konawa, Ross Pelton and Rachel Pelton and one great-grandchild, Levi Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in his name to the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Grover Lawson, Jr.
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Grover A. Lawson, Jr. are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Lawson died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in Hobbs, N. M. at the age of 80. He was born on March 28, 1927 in Florena, Kan., to Grover A. Lawson, Sr. and Helen (Jeffrey) Lawson.
On April 25, 1958 he married Shirley (Hankins) in Brownfield, Texas.
Lawson was a member of V.F.W. Post 3274 where he served as commander and district commander. He also served as district commander for the American Legion Post 26. He was in the United States Marine Corps.
He was also a postal worker in Hobbs for over 30 years and after retiring, from the postal service, he delivered trucks for Watson Truck and Supply and served on the March of Dimes Board of Hobbs.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley Lawson of the home; two sons, Grover A. Lawson, III of Shawnee and Monty Lawson of Hinton, Okla.; daughter,, Janice Brinesfeild of Spring, Texas; brother, George Lawson of Topeka, Kan.; sister, Mary Lockhart of Hubert, N. C., and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Carrie Ledbetter
Funeral services for Carrie Lee Ledbetter of Enid were held at 2 p.m. today at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber. Pastor Timothy Dorsch officiated.
Interment followed at Garber Cemetery under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Garber.
Carrie Lee Ledbetter, born on Sept. 15, 1912 to James M. and Mary Ann Ledbetter, grew up in Alpine, Tenn. She was the second youngest of 13 children, seven brothers and five sisters.
Carrie died on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the age of 94 and was predeceased in death by both parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her favorite niece Virginia Smith Mauk, and one great-granddaughter Abby Hargett.
Carrie graduated from Alpine High School in 1931 and she worked as a laundress and seamstress until receiving her Bachelor of Science in Education from Tennessee Polytechnic University.
She also completed graduate work at the Peabody College of the University of Detroit in Michigan. She was a baptized member of the Alpine Presbyterian Church.
The Governor of Tennessee, Prentice Cooper, recognized Carrie in 1940 as a leader in the Tennessee Home Food Supply Program for meritorious achievement in having grown 75% of all the food necessary for her family and livestock and for leadership in better living in the State of Tennessee.
In 1912 she moved to Michigan and taught kindergarten for the Roseville Michigan School System until her retirement in 1976.
After her retirement she moved to New Port Richey, Fla., until coming to Enid in 1985.
Carrie is survived by four grandchildren, Teri Mauk Holle and husband, Michael, of Enid, Debi Mauk McGowan and husband, Michael, of East Lyme, Conn., Michael Mauk and wife, Trish, of Stillwater and Larry Mauk and wife, Teresa, of Stillwater; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Charles Floyd Lee
Graveside services for longtime Ada resident and former Seminole resident Charles Floyd Lee are scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at Little Cemetery with Reverend Carl Whitfield officiating.
There will be visitation Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home and a visitation Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Charles Floyd Lee entered this world March 31, 1933 to the parents of Loyd Lee and Minnie Williams Lee in Seminole. Floyd departed this life March 14, 2007 in Tulsa.
Floyd attended Iron Post Schools and lived in the Bristow area several years. He moved to Ada, living there 48 years. Floyd was a rancher and horseman. He belonged to the Quarter Horse Association and enjoyed visiting with friends and going out to eat.
Floyd is survived by his son, Tony Lee of Seminole; his daughter, Timmie Myers and husband Danny of Poteau; one sister, Charolette Kissee of Bristow and one brother Earl Lee also of Bristow.
He is also survived by his former wife, Donna Lee of Seminole; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Floyd is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, Hurshell Lee and two sisters Thelma Ross and Estelene Dennis.
Robert Leetka
Funeral services for Seminole resident Robert Leetka Sr. are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at White Family Cemetery with Marvin Keesee and Chaplin Donnie Knight officiating.
The Absentee Veterans Association will be performing the military honors.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Leetka died today, June 13, 2007 at a Seminole nursing home. He was born April 9, 1923 in Holdenville to Porter Leitka and Jowina (Tiger) Reed.
He attended Sasakwa Schools and worked for Tommie Cello Pac as a truck driver. He enjoyed walking and playing softball and spending time with his family.
Leetka was a member of New Tulsa Ceremonial Grounds.
He served in World War II, and received the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Eame Theatre Ribbon and four Bronze Service Stars, for his service in Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe with the 848 Bombardment Squadron.
He served with the Army tanks destroyer and was a marksman. He was also trained as a mechanic on airplanes and engines
On March 23, 1946 in Seminole he married Nelsey Palmer. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2006.
His parents, two grandsons, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Leetka Jr.; daughters, Sherry Littlecreek and Cora Smith; sister, Anna Fixico; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Jo Ann Leitka
Funeral services for former Seminole Social Worker, Jo Ann (Sutherland) Leitka, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church of Seminole.
Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Service in Bethany.
Leitka died on Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Oklahoma City. She was born in Tishomingo to Elmer and Cleo (Green) Sutherland.
She attended both the University of Arkansas and Oklahoma State University. Leitka was a member of PEO and she worked for many years with the Department of Human Services as a social worker in Seminole, Creek and Oklahoma Counties.
Her parents, daughter, Jana Lear Wood, sister, Virginia Mueller and one grandson preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of 41 years, John Leitka, Jr.; son, Nick Lear and three grandchildren.
James LeMay
Memorial services for James Leroy LeMay are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Skyview Baptist Church in Okemah.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah; and officiated by Rev. Dennis Yeubanks.
Jim LeMay was born April 2, 1942 in Okemah to Roy and Geraldine (Wilson) LeMay. He passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at Fort Smith, Ark., at the age of 65.
Jim attended school at Okemah and following school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from military service with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
Jim served as a police officer for the Okemah, Weleetka and Henryetta police departments.
He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association since 1990 and an active member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
Jim was a 32nd degree Master Mason and member of the Oklahoma Scottish Rights. He was also a member of Skyview Baptist Church of Okemah.
Jim was well known for his good cooking and for never meeting a stranger. He loved to travel and boasted of seeing all 50 states on a motorcycle.
His wit and humor, advice, and love will be greatly missed by family and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Tony LeMay and wife, Laciona, of Seminole; two daughters, Cherui Howser and husband, Daryl, of Seminole and Teresa Rodgers and husband, Jason, of Harrah; two brothers, Rocky LeMay of Okemah and Jerry LeMay of Locust Grove; eight grandchildren, Jerrod and Tyler Howser, Casey, Ashley and Chad Rodgers, and Ty, Toby and Kaylee LeMay; and one great-grandson, Gage Howser.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Scottish Rights Hospital of Oklahoma.
