Funeral services for newborn Makaila "KK" Lynn Neal-Magness are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Butner High School Auditorium.
First Baptist Church of Cromwell will provide a lunch with services under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Makaila "KK" Lynn Neal-Magness was born Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at 9:16 a.m. at Ada. She went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at 10:12 a.m.
"KK" is the daughter of Emily Neal of Cromwell and Hunter Magness of Okemah.
She is survived by her maternal grandma, Diann Neal; maternal grandpa, Hank Neal; paternal grandpa, Todd Magness and Deaundra; paternal grandmother, Kimberly Pinner; maternal great-grandparents, Aubrey and Anita Kimball and Orville and Oliva Neal; paternal great-grandparents, Bill and Donna Magness and Sam and Ruby Pinner.
"KK" will be missed by seven uncles and five aunts and numerous other family members.
She has touched the lives of friends and community members for a "Purpose of God." The family desires that everyone knows that "KK" was wanted, "KK" was real and "KK" is loved.
Pallbearers for the services will be Hank Neal and Todd Magness.
Cecil Neely
Graveside services for Seminole resident Cecil I. Neely are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Welty Cemetery in Okfuskee County.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague and Neely’s nephew, Rev. Charles Neely from Coolidge, Ga., will officiate.
Neely, 91, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his home. He was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Paden to George Henry and Rosa (Rogers) Neely.
He graduated from Okfuskee High School in 1933 and on July 3, 1935 he married Zeppie Margaret Neely in Paden.
Neely began working for rural electric cooperatives in 1940 at People’s Electric Cooperative in Ada as a right-of-way solicitor.
He then went to work at Kiwash Electric Cooperative in Cordell in 1943 as a line superintendent and became manager of Northfork Electric Cooperative on Nov. 15 of the same year.
Neely served there for 17 years with exception of a brief leave of absence when he served as acting manager of the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative at Anadarko while the generation and transmission plant was being built.
While at Sayre, he was in Kiwanis, and was the County Chairman of civil defense, served as Mayor for six years, and was a lay-evangelist.
As a layman he led revivals at the First Baptist Church. He was also a 63-year member of the Sayre Masonic Lodge.
He moved to Seminole in December 1960 in order to become the manager of Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative. He retired in 1975 and worked for Radat Corp of Houston, Texas, selling computers and software.
Neely also attended Seminole State College and received a broker’s license and sold real estate.
He was a member of the Harvey Road Baptist Church and members of his Sunday school class are to be honorary pallbearers.
His wife of 70 years (died Aug. 3, 2004), one son Glenn Harold (died May 10, 1940), his parents and two brothers, Earnest and Clarence Neely, preceded him in death.
Surviving is on daughter, Janet Kay, of the home.
Ashlyn Netzel
Funeral services for infant, Ashlyn Cairol Nicole Netzel, are schedule for 2 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Holdenville with Rev. Jerry Orsburn and Rev. Dane Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Netzel died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the age of 10 months. She was born July 13, 2006 in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City to Phillip Dean Netzel and Julie Ann Netzel.
Surviving are her parents; a two-year-old brother, Joshua Phillip Netzel; grandparents, Danny and Mary Merriman and Norman and Bobbie Netzel, all of Holdenville and Darin and Kelly Wheeler of Earlsboro; great-grandparents, Fred and June Netzel, Meredith and Gertrude Robinson, David Cross, Sr. and Dortha Merriman, all of Holdenville and David and Carolyn Houck of Earlsboro.
Leatrice Newkham
Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Leatrice V. "Peach" Newkham are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud with Rev. Gene Teel officiating.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
The family will be receiving friends following the services at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud.
Visitation is scheduled for tonight until 8 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Leatrice V. "Peach" Newkham, 94 years old, passed from this life on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman. She was born Sept. 5, 1912 in Frederick, Okla. to parents E.E. Ashmore and Stella May (Phipps) Ashmore.
Leatrice married George Wrather Newkham on Aug. 12, 1937 in Maud.
Mrs. Newkham worked as a clerk for the Maud Post Office for 20 years. She was a long time member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud, becoming a member in 1937.
Mrs. Newkham was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star since 1953. She also was a member of the Maud Historical Society, U.M.W. and served as a "Pink Lady" at Seminole Hospital.
Mrs. Newkham also enjoyed oil painting and playing canasta.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim D. Newkham and his wife Sandy of Waco, Texas and B. Michael Newkham and his wife Susan of Norman; five grandchildren, Danielle (Newkham) Kindle of Sheffield, Ala., Nicole Newkham of Dallas, Texas, Megan (Newkham) Cash of Moore, Michael G. Newkham and wife Amanda of Huffman, Texas and Matthew Newkham of Spring, Texas and five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kelsey Newkham of Huffman, Texas, twins Aaron and Michael Cash of Moore and Kaitlin Kindle of Sheffield, Ala.
Her parents, E.E. and May Ashmore; husband, Wrather Newkham (January 1973) and her sister, Ruby Lovelady (2006) preceded Leatrice in death.
The family has designated St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud, Oklahoma as appropriate for memorial donations.
Randall Norman
Graveside services for Randall "Randy" Leon Norman of Mena, Ark., are scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Acorn with Bro. Donnie Evans officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Beasley-Wood/Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home, Mena, Ark.
Norman, age 52, died Monday, July 2, 2007 in Hot Springs. He was born Aug. 4, 1954 in Bakersfield, Calif., to J.B. Norman and Wathena Welch Norman.
He worked for Gilberts Water Drilling.
Surviving are his parents; son, Jason Norman; daughter, Chrystal Woods of Wewoka; brother, David Norman; sister, Debbie Tadlock and three grandchildren.
Susie O’Brien
Funeral services for Seminole resident Susie Virginia Stasso-O’Brien will be held at a later date in Arlee, Mont.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 p.m. Sunday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.
O’Brien, 71, died Friday, June 8, 2007 in Prague. She was born on Nov. 27, 1935 in Arlee, Mont., to Antoine and Elizabeth (Cu ‘Ya) Stasso.
She was a resident of Seminole for the past 16 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Seminole.
On Aug. 31, 1968 she married Forrest A. O’Brien in Portland, Maine.
Her parents, first husband and one son preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, Forrest O’Brien of the home; sons, Edward Terrell of Virginia, Tony O’Brien of Prague and Davis Terell of Shawnee; daughters, Yvonne Terrell of Connecticutt and Iona LaMay of Massachusetts; sister, Sophie Haynes of Arlee, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Luke O’Daniel
Funeral services for Luke Austin O’Daniel, nine-month old Weatherford resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ with Bro. Bruce Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home, Weatherford.
Luke was born on Nov. 14, 2006 in Oklahoma City to Shane and Kimberly (Bohannon) O’Daniel and passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 in Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford.
Luke is survived by his parents, Shane and Kimberly O’Daniel of the home in Weatherford; brother, Hunter O’Daniel of the home; maternal grandparents, Gary and Sue Bohannon of Maud; paternal grandfather, Barry O’Daniel of Maud; paternal grandmother, Debbie Allison and her husband Logan of Wewoka; paternal great-grandparents, Curtis and Wanda O’Daniel of Maud, Gail and Ann Fleming of Ardmore and Ivan and Jaunita Harrall of Weatherford; two aunts and uncles, Lisa and Sean Traub of Chickasha and Kindra and Clifton Grove of Maud; and five cousins, Rennie, Rory, Corey, Treyton and Nicholas.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Church of Christ.
Dee O’Donnell
Funeral services for Wewoka native, Dee R. O’Donnell, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with Kevin Rayner of Highland Church of Christ and David Deffenbaugh of Tahlequah Church of Christ officiating.
Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
O’Donnell, 79 of Tecumseh, died Monday, March 26, 2007 in Shawnee. He was born Sept. 5, 1927 in Wewoka to Charlie and Cora (Robinson) O’Donnell.
He was reared in Wewoka and following his marriage to June Smith in Wewoka on Feb. 2, 1948, the couple lived in Tulsa for over 30 years, moving back to Wewoka following his retirement.
Along with his wife, they traveled in their RV for 12 years, and have lived in Tecumseh for the past year.
O’Donnell was in the Naval Reserves during World War II, owned and operated Dee’s Uniforms in Tulsa for many years, and was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
His parents and a sister, Evelyn Luther, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, June, of the home; two sons, David O’Donnell of Holdenville and Kent O’Donnell of Norman; daughter, Dee Ann Watson of Georgetown, Texas; brother, Bill O’Donnell of Tulsa; sister, Rita Northcott of Davis; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Opal Orsburn
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Opal Orsburn are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Midway Baptist Church, with Rev. Phillip Mullins officiating.
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Opal Orsburn passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 in Shawnee at the age of 85 years. She was born Jan. 18, 1922 in West Point, Ark., to Milton and Myrtle (Taylor) Ridings.
She attended West Point School, was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Wewoka, and was a mother and homemaker.
Opal and Ed Orsburn were married Feb. 12, 1938 and to this marriage eight children were born.
Her parents and two sons, Bobby and Charles, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband Ed Orsburn of the home; son, James A. and wife Rena of Holdenville; daughters, Avis and Herb Clark of Norman, Carolyn Pruett of Shawnee, Joyce Harris of Holdenville, Lynda and Greg Miner of Shawnee and Mary and Al Crain of Madill; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Frank Ridings of Mich., and David Ridings of Ark. and sister, Marie Gilligan of La.
Her grandsons and great-grandson will serve as pallbearers.
