Margaret Scott

Funeral services for longtime Barnegat, N.J. resident, Margaret McDonald Scott, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Barnegat.

Father Ken Tuzenau will officiate the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, and Barnegat Funeral Home in New Jersey.

Margaret Scott, 82, passed from this life on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 in Seminole. She was born June 20, 1925 in Chicago, Ill. to parents, Stephen McDonald and Margaret (McAvoy) McDonald.

Margaret married Arthur S. Scott in Flushing, N.Y. on May 20, 1951. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1998.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Barnegat. Margaret moved to Seminole from New Jersey about a year ago to be close to her daughter.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Debbie Scott of Greensburg, Pa.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and John Lichtenberger of Tucson, Ariz., Kathie and Bill Avery of Batavia, N.Y., and Barbara and Craig Froelich of Seminole; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Peggy McDonald of Lakewood, N.J.

Ten grandchildren also survive her: Catherine Scott, Ginny Brill, Kionna Scott-McGrail, Charley Scott-McGrail, Trevor Avery, Kelsey Scott-Avery, Nathaniel Scott-Avery, Jakob Froelich and Matthew Froelich; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Guthrie.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Sally McFarlane; and one brother, Stephen McDonald.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Barnegat, N.J.

Hazel Seaman

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Hazel A. (Higdon) Seaman are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Rev. David Karges will officiate with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Hazel Seaman, 92, passed from this life on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. She was born Aug. 1, 1915 in Seminole to V.C. and Annie (Brown) Higdon.

She graduated from Varnum High School and married Charles Allen Seaman on Nov. 24, 1938 at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole. The couple had been married for 61 years..

Mrs. Seaman was very active in various church and social organizations and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole, where she served as church treasurer.

She was a member of several Seminole Garden clubs and the Women’s groups of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Seaman moved to Dallas, Texas to be close to her sons, following the death of her husband on Nov. 9, 1999.

Surviving are her sons, Gary and Don Seaman, both of Dallas; one daughter, Debra Seaman Langdon of Mesa, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Brandon and Aaron Seaman.

Nieces and nephews, George Higdon, Pat Padgett, Betty Franklin, Qualla Addington, and several great-nieces and nephews also survive her.

Her brothers, Luther Higdon, Kenneth Higdon and Dave Higdon, and two sisters, Maudie Frances Higdon and Thelma Higdon, also preceded her in death.

Casket bearers for the services will be: Kenneth Higdon, George David Higdon, Jay Kelly, Bob Douthit, Ed Hardin and Keith Higdon.

Leonard Seckinger

Services for longtime Konawa resident Leonard Seckinger are scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with Pastor Pam Shirk officiating.

A burial with military honors is to follow at the New Bethel Cemetery in Byng under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home.

Seckinger died Sunday at the Valley View Regional Hospital at the age of 86. He was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Vanoss, Okla. to John Benjamin and Georgia Ann (Roberts) Seckinger.

He served in the United States Navy as a Gunners Mate during World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1946.

Seckinger married Ora Loraine Vaughn who preceded him in death. He later married Marggett Ellen Powell.

Seckinger is preceded in death by his first wife and parents. Three children, Floyd Lynn Seckinger, Jimmy Don Seckinger and Linda Sharon wall precede him in death along with nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Marty Ray Seckinger, Konawa, and Monty Joe Seckinger of Oakmond, Okla.; three daughters Martha Seckinger and Brenda Sue Seckinger of Konawa and Shelia Ann Jones of Ardmore; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pall Bearers include Marty Ray Seckinger, Rick Holybee and Johnny Mackmiller.

Doris Selby

Funeral services for former Little resident Doris (Stilwell) Selby are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, Ark., with Paul Woodhouse officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel.

Doris, 84 of Midwest City, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 in Midwest City. She was born May 8, 1923 as the daughter of Thomas Benton and Dora Roberts Lane.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, David W. Stilwell.

She was a former resident of Springdale and a member of the Johnson Church of Christ. Doris was a retired secretary for the Civil Service after 20 years. She moved to Springdale in 1993 from Little.

Survivors include: her husband, William I. Selby of the home; one son, Tommy R. Stilwell and wife Julie of Springdale; one daughter, Margaret Wiens of Springdale; one brother, Phillip E. Lane of Woodward, Okla.; three stepsons, Tommy Selby and wife Mary of Galveston, Texas, Steve Selby and wife K.D. and Carl Selby and wife Kelly, all of Choctaw; one stepdaughter, Karen Selby of Midwest City; four grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers for the services will be: Terry Huffmaster, Dustin Mayhew, Ronald Friend, Steve Martindale, Joe Harriman and Mike Mitchell.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205-1409.

Raymond Sellers

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Raymond Lee Sellers are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Sellers, 60 of Bowlegs, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 17, 1946 in Hardy, Ark. to Hubert Clifton Sellers and Beatrice May (Brake) Sellers.

After graduation Ray started his career working in Safeway until a corporate change to Homeland. In 2000 he went to work at Nichols Grocery Store and held the position as Produce Supervisor, Manager and Co-Manager.

On June 15, 2005 he married Karen Sue Hook in Hot Springs, Ark.

Ray loved gardening, fishing, playing dominoes, woodworking, cabinetry and walking. He loved getting in to the car and driving around and he loved his grandchildren.

He was also known as being a very "dedicated worker".

His parents and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Karen of the home; three sons, Scott, Mark and David Sellers, all of Seminole; one stepdaughter, Angie Tunnel Snodgrass of Tahlequah; three brothers, Hubert Sellers of Batesville, Ark., Ray Sellers of Coolidge, Ariz. and Gary Sellers of Roswell, N.M.; one sister, Iva Williams of Bakersfield, Calif. and eight grandchildren, Blake, Adrian, Gabriel, Ryan, Jackie, Colton, Connor and Halee.

Joe Sharber

Funeral services for Vamoosa resident Joe Edd Sharber are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole with Michael Vallandingham officiating.

Interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Sharber, 73, died Monday, June 25, 2007 at home. He was born Jan. 6, 1934 in Vamoosa to Edward Franklin Sharber and Rachel Nancy (Baker).

He was a lifelong Seminole County resident and on Nov. 13, 1969 he married Zoila Nunez in Freer, Texas.

Sharber was an independent oil and gas producer and member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church.

His parents; two brothers, Jack Sharber and Billy Don Sharber; one sister, Mildred Sharber and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, Joe Sharber II of Vamoosa and Don Sharber of Okemah; two daughters, Nancy Sharber of Edmond and Kathy Ross of Broken arrow; three sisters, Maxine Pamplin of Mustang, Linda Gregg of St. Louis, Okla., and Donna Stanley of Seminole’ seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Warren Berry, Johnny Sharber, Billy Jack Sharber, Zeb Bowles, Gerald Jackson and Pete Stanley.

Honorary bearers will be Doyle Johnson, Bob Webster, Alvin Yoesel, Toy Harrison, Carl Sutton and Jonathan Vallandingham.

Sue Ann Sharp

Yukon’s Sue Ann Sharp, 69, passed away May 10, 2007, in Oklahoma City after a lengthy battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

She was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Wewoka, to Alfred and Ruby (Barnhart) Nalley.

Sue moved to Yukon in June 1965, coming from Oklahoma City.

A member of the Free Will Baptist Church, she loved to cook, take care of her grandchildren and watch NASCAR on television.

She was a homemaker and substitute teacher.

Sue also was employed in the family business, Mid-America Sales and Marketing, Sears Credit Central, and Local Federal.

As her illness progressed, Sue enjoyed listening to Christian programs and music, and having her husband Carl, read to her from the Bible.

Survivors include her husband Carl Dwaine Sharp of the home; son Carl Sharp Jr.; daughters Sheryl Sharp of Aurora, Ill., and Mickey Westfahl and husband Dennis of Okeene; two brothers; two sisters; and six grandchildren: Jeff Westfahl and wife Atsuko, Jeremy Mason and wife Natashia, Nicole Sykes, Eric Sykes, Sara Sharp, and Carl Sharp III.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD, 21031.

Wayne Sharp

There are no services planned at this time for Bowlegs resident Wayne Ralph Sharp.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Sharp, 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at his residence in Bowlegs. He was born Jan. 15, 1949 in Cortland, N.Y., to Ralph and Clestner (Hoes) Sharp.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was self-employed. Sharp bought and sold trucks and equipment.

His parents; one sister, Johanne Moynihan; and one brother, William Sharp, preceded him in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Autumn Fawn Sharp of McGraw, N.Y.; and one sister, Charlene Smith of West Monroe, N.Y.
