Carmon Shaw

Funeral services for Sasakwa native Carmon Shaw were held at 2 p.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada with Revs. Claud Baltimore and George Carson officiating.

Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shaw died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at an assisted living facility in Ada, She was born Sept. 5, 1920 near Sasakwa to Joseph Eli and Mary Irene Graham Ryan.

She attended Kite School near Sasakwa and graduated from Sasakwa High School. She lived in this area all her life.

She married Harold Shaw on Sept. 23, 1942 and he died Dec. 7, 1981 in Ada.

Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker and a beautician for several years, later she was a professional seamstress, also a sales clerk for Sun-N-Fun Clothing Store.

She was a member of Latta Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and helped with vacation Bible school. She was affiliated with Abundant Life Tabernacle.

Survivors include: two sons, Rick Shaw and wife Kay of Ada and Mick Shaw and wife Sharon of Seminole; one sister, Alpha Dee Lance of Westminster, S.C.; grandchildren, Ryan Shaw and wife Melissa of Ada, Brandi Shaw of Athens, Ga., Derek Shaw and wife Rachel of McAlester, Brandon Shaw and wife Amy of Seminole and Stephen Cambers of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Chambers.

Her grandsons will serve as bearers; Ryan Shaw, Derek Shaw, Brandon Shaw, Stephen Chambers, Don Hutching and Danny Stafford.

Kathi Shaw

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Kathi Shaw are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Chris Stinnett officiating.

Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Kathi passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 in her home at the age of 54. She was born Nov. 6, 1953 in Los Banos, Calif., to John William and Eunice (Wiley) Stanfill.

Shaw was a graduate of Seminole High School and in 2002 received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Kathi was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Seminole; member of Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.); and was part of the National Highway Watch Program that watched for any terrorist activity while truck driving.

She was a member of the National Honor Society for Educators and was co-owner and operator of Shaw Trucking.

On March 6, 1996 Kathi married Michael Shaw in Fayetteville, Ark.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Kathi is survived by her husband, Michael Shaw of Seminole; one daughter, Deidre Marie Northrip of Seminole; two sons, Haydon Christopher Bryant of Seminole and Houston Craig Nunnelley of Iowa; five brothers: John Stanfill, Jr. of Idaho, James Stanfill of Shawnee, David Stanfill of Woodward, Okla., Roger and Randy Stanfill, both of Arkansas; four sisters: Joyce Benn, Gina Marshall and Pamela Stanfill, all of Seminole, and Ramona Stanfill of Idaho; and eight grandchildren.

Carolyn Shivers

Funeral services for Seminole County native Carolyn Sue Shivers were held to day at 10 a.m. at the praise Center Assembly of God Church in Little with Dr. Jack L. Medlock officiating.

Interment followed at Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral service in Prague.

Carolyn departed this life in Prague on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007. She was 63 years of age. She was the daughter of Marvin Luther and Ella Mae (Estep) Ellis.

She had been a resident of the Paden area all her life. She was married to Kenneth "Harold" Shivers of Little on June 16, 1962 by Rev. Carl Shivers in the Little Assembly of God Church.

She remained a member of the Assembly of God Church throughout her life.

Her father, sister-in-law, and grandson preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth "Harold" Shivers of the home; mother, Ella Mae Ellis; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Lance Bradley of Prague, Vickie Lakins and Lora and Kirk Fipps, all of Paden; brothers and sistes-in-law, James and Roberta Ellis of Prague, Billy and Ruby Ellis, Don and JoAnne Ellis, Dean and Mary Ellis, and Carl and Shereta Ellis, all of Seminole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Gene Aldridge of Cromwell and Twana and Buddy Dodson of Maud; and grandchildren: Kyler Bradley, Garrett Bradley, Amber Duke, Caleb Lakins, Leslie Fipps and Holly Fipps.

Lora Short

Funeral services for Konawa native Lora Marie Short are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Community Christian Church, Choctaw with Rev. Joe Hodges and Rev. Bill Shaw officiating.

Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah.

Short, 98 of Nicoma Park, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 in Prague. She was born April 4, 1909 in Konawa to Henry Mathis and Jane Sarah Kathryn (Steele) Pickard.

She married Clarence Short on Feb. 20, 1929 in El Reno and he preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1995.

The couple moved to Nicoma Park in 1929, where she resided until 1999, when she sold her home and retired from a long career as a beautician.

Short was a member of the Eastern Star, Faith Community Christian Church, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was honored by hospice for sewing over 300 neck pillows for the hospice patients.

Her parents; two brothers, Orlan and Doral; and three sisters, Minnie, Billie and Myrtle, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are sons, Merlin Short and Charles Short; brothers, Lawrence, James and Kenneth; sisters, Mildred, Jerry, Delma and Mary; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Winnie Short

Graveside services for Winnie Short are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Wolf Cemetery with Andy Quinton officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton, Texas.

Short, 98, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in Fort Stockton, Texas. She was born Sept. 1, 1908 in Colgate, Okla., to Charles Whitaker and Nora Jones.

On Aug. 25, 1928 she married Owen Short in Konawa.

Her parents, husband, and sons, Elwood Short, R.V. Short, H.D. Short, L.B. Short and Lawrance Short preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Colene Shockley of Balmorhea, Texas, Umijeam Nielson of Oklahoma and Lavonnia Babb of Troy, Texas; two sons, Con Short of Wewoka and Charles Short of Texas; two sisters, Margret Agee of Muskogee and Minnie Branson of Utah; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Stephen Shockey, Kelvin Shockey, Darrell Holcomb and Ricky Holcomb, all of Texas.

Alice Smith

Funeral services for former Holdenville resident, Alice Smith, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.L. Thomas officiating.

Burial is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Smith died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith, Ark., at the age of 80. She was born Aug. 31, 1926 in Lone Dove (Seminole County), Okla., to John Black and Minnie Lee Craft.

She graduated from Spaulding High School and her hobbies included baking, sewing, leather working and gardening.

On March 15, 1947 she married Farris Smith in Holdenville.

She was a member of the Murry Spur Freewill Baptist Church in Spiro, Okla.

Her parents and one son, Jack Smith of Seminole, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Farris, of the home; children, Jim Smith of Harrah, Joy Thomas of Spiro, JoAnn Crow of Atwood and Jay Smith of Holdenville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Charles Smith

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Charles Douglas Smith are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka with Rev. Michael Vanlandingham officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Charles Douglas Smith departed this life at his residence Wednesday, Jan 31, 2007 after a long illness at the age of 74. He was born Nov. 21, 1932 in Wewoka to Albert "Bert" and Nellie Jane (Wheat) Smith.

He attended Wewoka Schools and was a self-employed welder and member of the Teamsters Union, Chauffeur Drivers Union, First Baptist Church and an avid collector of clocks, knives and John Deere memorabilia.

Charles spent the first part of his life in Wewoka. He married Patsy Nalley on Jan. 15, 1952 and they moved their family to Long Beach, Calif. in 1955.

Charles retired from truck driving and welding in 1996 and he and his wife returned to Wewoka every year until 2004. It was then that they moved back to spend the rest of their lives together.

Charles and Pat were married for 55 years before he lost his fight with cancer.

His parents, son, John Henry Smith and five brothers, Monroe, Elmer, Hermine, Edwin and Edsel preceded him in death.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Pat of the home: son, Bill and wife, Leslie of Wewoka; daughters, Charla Everitt and Julia Vance and husband, Wayne all of Long Beach, Calif.; brother, Tim Smith of Kansas; granddaughters, Shelli and Jenny Everitt of Long Beach, Calif. and Kristyn Smith of Wewoka; grandson, Jonathon Vance of Long Beach, Calif. and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ellis ‘Eugene’ Smith

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Ellis "Eugene" Smith are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Chris Stinnett officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Eugene Smith passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at his home at the age of 65. He was born on April 6, 1941 in Henryetta to Walter Lee and Melvina (Bailey) Smith.

He married Jennifer Sharon (Eskue) Smith on Aug. 11, 1962 in Dexter, N.M.

His parents and three brothers: George, Austin and Willard Smith precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smith of the home; two sons, Carl Smith and wife Becky of Maud, and Shawn Smith of the home; two daughters, Melinda Spears and husband Keith of New Lima, and Tina Deatherage of Seminole; three brothers, Lindel Smith and wife Lois of Bowlegs, Weldon Smith and wife Joann of Seminole, and G.C. Smith and wife Donna of Maryland and three sisters, Mildred Wood and husband Lonnie of New Mexico, Hazel Williams of Henryetta, and Helen Tawney and husband Chuck of Maryland.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandy Burkhardt and husband Branden, Monica Fletcher and husband Shae, Aaron Smith, Desiree Deatherage, Adam Deatherage and Colin Deatherage and two great grandchildren: Christian and Shaelynn Fletcher.

Elva Smith

Services for former Wewoka resident Elva Lorene (Climer) Smith are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Chesser officiating.

Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Smith died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 69. She was born Aug. 27, 1937 in Adadarko to William Henry and Viola Estell (Campbell) Climer.

She attemded school at New Lima and later attended Rose State College for two years. Smith was employed at the Tinker Air Force Base for 38 years and was a member of the Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Smith of Seminole and Terry Smith of Shawnee; two brothers Carrol Gene Climer and David Ray Allen; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
