Farris Smith

Funeral services for former Holdenville resident Farris Earl Smith are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Rev. C.L. Thomas officiating.

Burial is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

Smith died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at his home in Spiro, at the age of 86. He was born in Wetumka on March 10, 1921 to Art and Artie (Eason) Smith.

On March 15, 1947 he married Alice May Craft in Holdenville. He began farming at the age of 15 and enjoyed his farm, raising cattle and visiting with family and friends.

Smith was a member of the Murry Spur Freewill Baptist Church in Spiro.

His wife, Alice (March 22, 2007) and his parents and one son, Jack Smith, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children: Jim Smith of Harrah, Joy Thomas of Spiro, JoAnn Crow of Atwood and Jay Smith of Holdenville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the services will be Greg Thomas, Justin Smith, Jay Smith, Johnny Crow, Jim Smith and Clayton Smith.

Jacqueline Smith

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident, Jacqueline "Jacque" Sue (Collings) Smith, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Seminole Church of Christ.

Chris Stinnett is to officiate the service with the assistance of Arpoika Daniels. Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Smith, 55, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 9, 1951 in Seminole to Douglas Clifton Collings Sr. and Grace "Kathryn" (Barnett) Collings.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1969 and then worked for over 17 years in the oilfield as a pumper for Gulf and Chevron oil companies retiring in 1994.

Smith had worked as the custodian at the Seminole Church of Christ until her illness; she was also a member of the church.

Her father, who died in 1994, and her former husband and father of her child, Melvin Wayne Smith, who died July 7, 2006, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her only child, Dillon Smith of the home; her mother, Kathryn Collings of Seminole; three sisters, Judy Pulliam of Midwest City, Joyce Crabb and Phyllis Colings, both of Seminole and two brothers, Douglas Clifton Collings Jr. of Montgomery, Texas and Kenny Collings of Ardmore.

Casket bearers for the services will be; Jeff Crabb, Bobby Boyer, Scott Cormack, Zach Dennis, Dillon Smith and Kyle Barnes.

The family has set up a memorial fund at First United Bank in Seminole as appropriate for memorial donations for Dillon’s education.

Joy Smith

Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Joy O. Blackburn Smith were held Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Wetumka with Rev. Darrel Gibbs officiating.

Interment followed at Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Wetumka.

Smith, 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 in Midwest City. She was born Feb. 17, 1932 in Beulah, Okla. to M.C. and Pricilla Lindley.

She was raised in the Non and Bear communities near Calvin, Okla. and graduated from Calvin High School in 1950. Her senior year she was honored as an Oklahoma All-State Basketball player.

On May 10, 1950 she married Boyce Dale Blackburn and the couple had three children. As a young couple they farmed at Allen and in 1956 they moved to Wetumka, where they owned and operated the Nine and Seventy Five Service Station and Café.

She also worked at the Hughes County Court House and Oklahoma State Employment Service Station until her retirement in 1989. In her youth, she was a youth leader at Falls Creek and a member of First Baptist Church in Wetumka.

On Nov. 28, 1988 she married A. Don Smith and they owned and operated A. Don’s Restaurant in Wetumka. In 2001 the couple retired to their farm in Sasakwa.

She enjoyed traveling and all sporting events, in particular, the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed nature and was well known for her "green thumb".

Her parents, former husband Boyce Dale Blackburn Sr. and a brother, Melvin Lindley.

Surviving is her husband, A. Don Smith of the home; one daughter, Pamela Chastain of Wetumka; two sons, Boyce Dale Blackburn and Ira J. Blackburn, both of Stillwater; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Collins of Norman, Linda Hardage of Enid, Hazel Elliot of Richland, Mo. and Christine Johnson of Thomasville, Ga. and two brothers, M.C. (Pete) Lindley of Calvin and Elvin Lindley of Stuart.

Leola Smith

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Leola Smith are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Church, Wewoka with Rev. Renfro officiating.

Services are under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Wewoka.

Smith, 97, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at her home. She was born June 6, 1910 in Seminole to Henryetta Crawford and Edward Saunders.

She quit school at an early age to help the family at home and then worked for the Grisso family as a maid and nanny.

Later she married Emmitt Smith and he preceded her in death.

She was a faithful member of Parkers Chapel for many years and took care of her husband.

Her parents, sister Lucille Mitchell and brother Willie Sauders, also preceded her in death.

Surviving is her special cousins, Jesse Crawford and Charlesetta of Oklahoma City.

Lloyd Smith

A memorial service for former Seminole resident Lloyd Perry Smith was held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the United Methodist Church of Cortez, Colo.

Smith, 82, died at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007. He and his wife, Pearl (Stafford), have resided in Cortez for the past 25 years and on June 1, 2007 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He worked as a cartographer fro the United States Geological Survey from 1951 until 1980. His passion was topographic mapping, which he did in 10 states throughout his career.

Surviving is his wife of the home; three children; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dortha Howard of Seminole and Berniece Henry of Oklahoma City and one brother, Delbert Smith of Atoka.

Merl Smith

Funeral services for Seminole native Merl Lee Smith are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, Neb. with Rev. Tim Rust officiating.

A graveside service is also scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Smith, 78 of Grand Island, Neb. died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island. He was born April 9, 1928 in Seminole to Frank and George Alice (Osborne) Smith.

He was raised and received his education in Ft. Smith, Ark. and he served in the United States Army from 1946-1947.

Davis was united in marriage to Donna Hamilton and they lived in Kimball, Neb. until 1986, moving to Green Valley, Ariz.

Due to health reasons he moved to Grand Island in 2006 to be close to his family. He was employed for over 40 years with Amoco Oil Company.

His parents, wife and twin brother, Verl Smith, preceded him in death.

Surviving are daughters, Sandy Smith of Grand Island, Jody Herman of Doniphan, Neb. and Cathy Boragno of Costa Mesa, Calif.; son, Don Smith of Lincoln, Neb. and two grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Francis Skilled Care Unit.

Wanda Smith

Funeral services for Wanda Jean (Ramsey) Smith of Wewoka will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Russel Ryker officiating and assisted by Don Ramsey.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Wanda left this life to meet her Savior Sunday, July 1, 2007 at her residence at the age of 76 years. She was born July 30, 1930 in Wewoka to Raymond Earl and Mabel Pauline (Bruce) Ramsey.

Wanda graduted from Wewoka High School and on Oct. 7, 1949 Wanda and Jake Smith were married in Wewoka.

Wanda was a unique lady who always had time to listen, encourage and counsel others.

She loved her Savior with the faith of an adoring child and held her family and friends as precious treasurers in her life.

She was a creative poem and short story writer as well as an excellent cook and gracious hostess, who loved to share her talents with others.

Those celebrating her life are her beloved husband, Jake Smith of the home; daughter, Rhonda Buford of Choctaw; son, Paul Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kent and Kendall Buford and Ryan and Emily Smith; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jean Andrews, Don Ramsey, Jim Ramsey, Vonnie Poole and Shirley "Ann" Patton.

Pall bearers will be Paul Smith, Gary Buford, Ryan Smith, Kent Buford, Kendall Buford and Zane Smith.

Honorary bearers will be Jim Ramsey, Emily Smith, Jim Chadick, Robert Smith, Kenneth Smith, Shirley "Ann" Patton, Jean Andrews, Vonnie Poole, Bonnie Smith and Billy Gardenheir.

Viewing will be from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. July 3; 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. July 4; and 8 –10 a.m. July 5 at Stout-Philips Funeral Home.

William Smith

Services for William (Billy) Russell Smith are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at McMahans Funeral Home in Noble, Okla., with his grandson, Rev. Brandon Kalicki officiating.

Interment is to follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMahans Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born to Bill A. and Golda J. (Russell) Smith on Nov. 24, 1923 in Noble. He departed this life on Monday, June 11, 2007 in Norman at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Smith grew up and attended school at Noble. He graduated with the Noble Class of 1942 and was inducted in to the United States Army on Aug. 20, 1943.

He served his country as a member of Company "C" 313th Infantry in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Holland and Belgium as a Private First Class and received an Honorable Discharge on Nov. 3, 1945.

He returned to Noble in 1945 and was employed with the family company, Smith Brothers Construction and Smith Road Construction.

He retired as a Highway Contractor and Highway Construction Management. He lived in New Mexico for a short time before returning to the Noble and Norman area in 1987.

In January 1942 he and Nettie Lee Heard were united in marriage. She preceded him in death in 1967.

Later he married Avis Hawkins and she also preceded him in death in 2007.

He was a member of the University Christian Church in Norman and the Noble First Baptist Church. He held a lifetime membership of the Noble Odd Fellows Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling across the United States in his RV.

His parents and one brother, Clyde (Buddy) Smith also preceded him in death.

Those who survive him include one son, Donald Smith of Norman; one daughter, Susan Kalicki and her husband, Doug, of Seminole; one brother, Charles Ray Smith and his wife, Winona, of Noble; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the services will be: Russell Smith, Greg Kalicki, Jeff Kalicki, Brandon Kalicki, Mike Smith and Scott Smith.
