Delorse Aleah Thornburg

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at the Temple of Praise in Seminole with Rev. Harold Turner officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Delorse passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 78. She was born in Seminole on Jan. 17, 1929 to James Jordan and Ruth Estella (Roene) Smith.

Delorse worked at the Seminole Drive Inn Theater and Chieftain Theatre for many years, she was also a health care provider.

She was baptized and a member of the Temple of Praise Church where she was a head usher for many years.

Her parents and one sister Pearl Loudermilk precede her in death.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana J. "D.J. and Ken Pope of McLoud; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Frank Neeley of Lincoln, Calif., and one son and daughter-in-law, James and Phyllis Thornburg of Stillwater; grandchildren, Rachel Evans, Christa Benefiel, Lindsay Smith, Clinton James and Timothy Michael Thornburg, and great grandchildren, Brandon Scott of the United States Navy (he will also be serving as a pallbearer), Chelsey Pearson, Haley Benefiel, Samantha Smith, Breezey Gillespie, and Cody and Shayleigh Smith.

Other family members include Bob and Sandy Sands of Seminole, Sean Gillespie, Robin Cambell and daughters, of Seminole, Carolyn and Tony Self of Seminole, Lavern Skinny Jones of Seminole, her church family at Temple of Praise and Seminole Estates Nursing Home Staff as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Alma Thorsen

Funeral services for Maud native Alma Elizabeth Thorsen are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church of Chickasha.

Interment is to follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Norge, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.

Thorsen, 95 of Chickasha, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 in Chickasha. She was born in Maud on Sept. 30, 1911 to William P. and Mary Floy (Smith) Drewry.

On July 16, 1933 she married Carvin Halbert Thorsen at the First Lutheran Church and they lived in Grady County all of their married life.

She was a housewife and partner with her husband for over 60 years in his mechanic business.

Her husband (1994), three brothers, Houston Alexander Drewry, Carl William Drewry Sr., and Jay Smyth Drewry and one sister, Violet Draper (Drewry) Robbins preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Clarence Gail Thorsen of Chickasha; one daughter, Annetta Deloris Brown Morristown, N.J.; two brothers, Otis Lee Drewry of Fremont, Calif., and Brice Drewry of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Tessie Lorene Chandler, Mary Lynn Williams and Alpha Louise Smith, all of Seminole; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 387, Chickasha, OK 73023.

Clara Belle Tiger

Funeral services for Seminole County resident Clara Belle Tiger are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at the Tallahassee Presbyterian Church in Seminole.

Brothers Frank Moppin and George Harjocee will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Tallahassee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral home of Wewoka.

Tiger passed away on Oct. 12, 2007 at the age of 54.

She was born to George and Nessie Harjo Tiger on July 15, 1953 in Paden.

Tiger attended Seminole High School and Seminole Junior College and was a member of the Tallahassee Presbyterian Church.

A homemaker who loved to talk about the lord, she was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and always had a loving and giving heart.

She loved helping others and caring for her grandchildren.

Tiger is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Flora Harjo Tiger Daniels, Susie Carpitcher, and Beatrice Pullman; and brothers Anderson Tiger, Ishmeal Tiger, Webster Tiger, and Jacob Osborn.

Tiger is survived by her husband, Artemus Tanyan, Seminole; four daughters, Sherry Tanyan of Wichita, Kan., Lucretia Moppin, Oklahoma City, Laura Afton and Areilla Tanyan, both of Wewoka; three sons, Leo Moppin Jr., Wewoka, Daniel Tanyan of Muskogee, and Adam Tanyan of Wewoka; one brother, Leroy Davis, Seminole; and four sisters, Scenora Tiger, Nancy Harjo, Angus Pullum, Seminole, and Leafa Tiger, Ada.

Tiger is also survived by 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are to include Joel Davis, Siah Davis, timothy Davis, Buddy Harjo Mr. Isaac Harjo, Ron Daniels Jr., Trey Colbert, Toby Plumblee, Adolph Harge, Brian Harge, and Greg Allen.

Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Mitchell, Tony Tiger, Ray Dyer, and Trey Thomas.

Marland Tiger

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Marland Tiger are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Cheyarha Presbyterian Church with Kelly Tiger officiating.

Interment will follow at Tiger Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Marland Tiger passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 in Seminole at the age of 70. He was born on Sept. 22, 1936 in Seminole to Edmond and Lucy (McGirt) Tiger.

Marland served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He attended Seminole High School; he was inducted into the Seminole Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

He served on the Seminole Nation General Council from 1993 – 1997. In 2005 he was elected to the present Seminole Nation Council.

He served on the Wewoka I.H.S. Health Advisory Board from 1997-2005. In 2003 he received an award for community leadership while serving as chief executive officer for the Wewoka Indian Health Center.

The Seminole Nation Tribal Advisory Board also presented Marland with an award for sustained leadership in the health programs of the community.

He was elected to serve as the Seminole Tribal Representative to the Carl Albert Health Board. He served on the Seminole Nation Trust Management Board from 2001- 2005, and was a member of the Cheyarha Presbyterian Church.

On November 12, 1955 he married Barbara (Clarida) Tiger in Olney, Texas. Barbara survives him of the home.

Marland is also survived by two daughters, Melissa and husband Fritz Pasquet of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Monica Heinzig of Seminole; three brothers, Donald E. Tiger of Seminole, Pembrook Tiger of Spring Valley, Calif., Randall J. Tiger of Shawnee and three sisters, Opal V. Cloud of Arkansas City, Kan., Nema Alderman of Wilburton, Okla., and Wanda Barber of Maud.

Also surviving are two great aunts, Agnes Pulliam and Juanita Noon; two grandchildren, Brad Heinzig and Dara Heinzig; one great-grandchild, Abbey Tinsley; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and other family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers for the services will be Shelby Barber, Nathan Barber, Culv "Chula" Jones, Kenon Jones, Robert Johnson and Jeremy Johnson.

Honorary Bearers will be Fritz Pasquet, Bill Hubbard, Billy Wayne Roberson, and Jack Moreland.

The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Banc First in Seminole in loving memory of Marland Tiger.

Eadith Tilley

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Eadith Tilley will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church, Wewoka, with Rev. Perry Justus officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Benson and Rev. Perry Justus officiating.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Mrs. Tilley was called home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 at Apache, Okla., at the home of her granddaughter, where she had been staying.

Eadith Tilley was the daughter of James and Iva Ann (Clayton) Tilley. She was born Jan. 7, 1910 in Melbourne, Ark.

She came to Oklahoma in a covered wagon in 1914 and she was a great basketball player in high school.

Eadith was united in Holy matrimony with the love of her life, Olan Cornel (OC) Tut Tilley in Seminole on Oct. 3, 1930. They spent a wonderful, loving and giving 71 years together before his death on April 19, 2002.

Eadith spent many, many years employed at Ann’s Ladies Ready to Wear Store in downtown Wewoka.

Eadith Tilley will always be remembered for her kind and generous nature. She will be remembered by her devotion to and love of God and her unconditional love of her family.

Her love of God and forever wanting to be in His service lead her to many years as a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wewoka.

Many of those years were spent in church activities such as, fundraiser in the form of fried pies, flowers, and women’s ministries. She was also active for many years as a Sunday school teacher and church secretary.

Preceding her in death is her husband and best friend, OC Tilley of the home; son, Michael Cornel Tilley of Wewoka; six brothers and sisters, Minnie Hughes of Wewoka, Gladys Barnes of Jones, Etta Boyd of California, Buel Cummings of Wewoka, Roy Cummings of Stillwater and Paul Cummings of Wewoka.

She is survived by daughter, Judy Bivens and husband, Robert, of Wewoka; granddaughter, Tricia Bivens and husband, Stephen, of Apache, Okla.; grandson, Tutt Tilley and wife, Amanda, of Texas and Jason Tilley; sic great-grandchildren; Jamie Bussell, Cassandra Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, Stephen E. Bivens, Dakota Bivens and Olivia Tilley; two great-great grandchildren, Kira Ann Bussell and Ruth Elizabeth Kidd; and a legacy of love created by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathleen Tilley

Funeral services for former Wewoka /Holdenville resident Kathleen Therese Tilley are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Bill Chesser officiating.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Tilley, 64, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 in Ft. Smith, Ark. She was born Feb. 13, 1943 in Norwalk, Calif., to Anthony Samuel and Louise Therese (Pinterilla) Coulston.

She attended Norwalk School and enjoyed camping, fishing, designing on the computer and doing arts and crafts.

Her parents; husband, Burt Mainard; and sister, Patricia Rubidoux preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Tilley of Poteau; daughters, Dortha Louise Walston of Tulsa and Marianne Therese Chesser of Wewoka; sisters, Marianne England of Apple Valley, Calif., and Rose Mary Mitchell of Bloomington, Calif.; brother, Anthony Coulston; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Fredrick Tredway

Mass services for longtime Maud resident Fredrick Robert Tredway are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Matthew Brown, O.S.B., officiating.

Burial is to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Tredway, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at his home in Maud. He was born Nov. 2, 1932 in Parsons, Kan., to John and Gladys (Petty) Tredway.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1955, during the Korean War as a seaman. He met and married Marie Nave on Dec. 31, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tredway was a retired serviceman at the Coca Cola Plant in Ada and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a founding member of CCC.

His parents and his daughter, Kristy Lee Tredway, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons: John R. Tredway of Alta Loma, Calif., and William R. Tredway of Maud; one daughter, Ginger Phillips of Bethel Acres; two sisters: Joan Parks of Parsons, Kan., and Betty Dye of Leavenworth, Kan; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be a rosary service at the Tredway home Thursday evening.

Pearl Tripp

Graveside services for longtime Konawa resident Pearl Caroline (Casey) Tripp are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Yeager Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Stinnett officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Tripp died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Unity North Health Center in Shawnee, at the age of 88. She was born on Nov. 27, 1918 in Mounds, Okla., to J.B. Casey and Sudie Marie (Day) Casey.

She married William Tripp on Nov. 1, 1937 in McAlester and he preceded her in death in 1986.

Tripp was a homemaker and had worked at the Aldridge Hotel in Zion, Ill., and also at Cleo’s Cafe in Konawa.

She attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Konawa.

Her parents; five children, William Lee Tripp, Leon Dale Tripp, Rhoda Tripp, Vinus Tripp and an infant baby boy; and nine brothers and sisters, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Tripp of Zion, Ill., and Vernon Tripp of Sasakwa; four daughters, Cledda Johnson of Tampa, Fla., Bernice McGhee of Atmore, Ala., Georgia Lewis of Maud and Betty Jean Coleman of Oklahoma City; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Larry House, Wade House, Kenny House, Byron Bible, Zachary House and Russell House.
