Graveside services for Edward Joe Veazey were held on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Mounds under the direction of Schaudt’s Glenpool funeral Service and Cremation Care.
Veazey, 82, died Nov. 28 at his residence in Tulsa after a short illness.
He was born to Gaston and Pearl Veazey in Elk City on Nov. 18, 1925.
The family later moved to Shamrock Texas and Veazey proudly went on to serve in the United States Air Force during World War II.
He attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and married Norma Parks on Oct. 15, 1950.
He worked in the oilfield for many years in the Seminole area before retiring in 1991.
Son, Joe of Houston, Texas and daughters, Susan Rose of Tulsa and Kathleen Cook of Mounds, Texas survive Veazey.
He enjoyed eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter as well as many nieces and nephews
Charles Vieux
Charles Franklin "Charlie" Vieux, 82-year-old longtime St. Louis resident, passed from this life Jan. 7, 2007, at his home in St. Louis.
Charlie was born Sept. 2, 1924, at Sacred Heart (near Konawa) to parents Dessie Etta (Vick) Vieux and Nicholas V. "Nick" Vieux.
Charlie married Mary Elizabeth (Holmes) on Jan. 23, 1956, in Newkirk. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Charlie worked for Double "E" Well Service in St. Louis for owner Everett Kennedy from 1960 until his retirement in April of 1984.
Charlie was a deacon at the St. Louis First Baptist Church. He is also a former President of the St. Louis Round-up Club. He was an avid team roper and was a member of the Maud Masonic Lodge and the Tecumseh American Legon and had served on the St. Louis Water Board for several years.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his four daughters and a son-in-law: Charlene Vieux Killian of St. Louis, Clarice (View) and husband Fred Murdock of St. Louis, Elizabeth "Beth" Vieux of Shawnee, and Teresa Vieux of Tecumseh.
One son, Nick Vieuex of Sacramento, Calif.
Seven grandchildren, eight great-grand children and a host of other family and friends including special friend Janet Kennedy of St. Louis.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Vieux (Oct. 18, 1990) and by three sisters, Ines Brinlee, Armenta and Elvina Vieux. One niece Connie Wood Silas and nephew Kenneth Ray Silas.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at the St. Louis First Baptist Church with Brother Glenn Peck officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery near Konawa.
Casket bearers will be: James "Moe" Eldred, Kasey Strickland, Ed Bottoms Jr., Jimmy Skender, Ashley, Postman and Rick Reed.
Honorary bearers will be: Frank Williams, Harold Henley, Mike Hunter, Gary Smith, Ty Dean, Jim Shirey, Melvin Long, Denver Merrill and Edd Bottoms.
Funeral services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.
Floyd ‘Larry’ Vulgamore
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Floyd "Larry" Vulgamore are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Wood and Windred Lowe officiating.
Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Larry passed away on May 23, 2007 in Seminole at the age of 63. He was born on Jan. 6, 1944 in Seminole to Floyd Harry and Doris (Lockhart) Vulgamore.
He met and married Pauletta (Davis) on Nov. 19, 1963 in Konawa.
Larry retired from Wrangler in 2004 where he had been a mechanic for 39 years. He served in the Army Reserves for six years.
He is a member of the Wolf Freewill Baptist Church and he enjoyed having coffee with his coffee club friends at McDonalds in the evening.
He also loved vegetable gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
His parents, Floyd and Doris Vulgamore, and two brothers precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife Pauletta Vulgamore of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and husband Bryan Armstrong of Seminole; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Mitchell and husband Murray Neece of Odessa, Texas and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Armstrong of Seminole.
Casket bearers will be Lloyd Vulgamore Jr., David Armstrong, Paul Lockhart, Gene McGinnis, Bob Bookout and Stephen Babcock. Honorary bearers will be A.C. Bundy, Ham Gaines, Sidney Russell and Cecil Duggan.

Mildred Jewel Wages
Mildred Jewel Wages, 91, of Norman, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Norman Regional Hospital.
Graveside services are scheduled fro 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Little Cemetery in Seminole County, with Dr. Lavonn Brown and Rev. Stan Upchurch officiating.
Services are under the direction of Havenbrooks Funeral Home of Norman.
Wages was born March 4, 1916, in Gamaliel, Ark., to Grover Cleveland and Emily Ora (Farrell) Ellison.
Mildred married William Harrison Wages in 1934 in Seminole.
In 1955, her husband and brother purchased Parduhn’s Feed Store (now Ellison Feed and Seed) and she was the longtime bookkeeper there.
Wages was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norman. She served in Senior Choir and as a Sunday School teacher.
She had a number of hobbies including traveling, gardening, and fishing.
She was an excellent seamstress and loved to cook.
Wages was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
Wages was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Upchurch and her husband Rev. Stan Upchurch, of Norman; granddaughter Kimberly Upchurch and her fiancé Weston Shields, both of Norman; brother, Fred Ellison of Seminole; sister Melba Rumsey, of Seminole; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert Walker
Funeral services for Seminole County native Robert L. Walker were held today at 2 p.m. at middle Creek #2 Church in Holdenville with Rev. Frank Moppin and Rev. Ellison Phillips officiating.
Interment followed at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
Walker, 95 of Seminole County, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at Holdenville General Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1912 in Seminole County to Alex and Annie Harjo Walker.
He was a retired truck driver for the State of Oklahoma and had served in the United States Army during World War II from October 1943 until August 1945.
Walker was an active member of Middle Creek #2 Baptist Church and had been baptized on Aug. 17, 1958 by Rev. Arthur Bruner.
He was ordained as a Deacon on Sept. 8, 1962 at Middle Creek #2 by Rev. Sippie Asbury, Rev. Wilson Kinney and Rev. Coleman Lewis.
In October 1964 he married Judy Walker and she survives him of the home.
His parents and eight brothers and sisters, Anna Mae Henry, Izora Bruner, Katie Tiger, Susie Harjo, Liza Harjo, Terry Walker, Dave Walker and Jimmy Walker preceded him in death.
Survivors also include one sister, Irene Bailey of Wewoka; one daughter, Louina Lasley of Missouri; one son, Jo Rader of Oklahoma City; three grandsons; one great-grandson and numerous step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services were: Kenny Chambers, Brain Chambers, gene Harjo, Ronnie Powell, Harry Walker and Dan Sanford.
Honorary bearers were: Kenna Harjo, Jerry Walker, Arthur Bruner Jr., Harry Bruner, Charley Bailey and George Doyle.
Diane Walraven
A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Diane "Dee" Walraven who passed from this life on Thursday, June 14, 2007.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1928 in Burbank, Calif., and was preceded in death by her parents, George Creeth and Mildred (Schurig) Creeth of Sonora, Calif.
Also preceding her in death is her sister, Ellen Barnato of Glendale, Calif., her brother, George Creeth of Mathis, Texas, and her beloved dog "Hilda".
Dee, as she liked to be called, was an avid gardener and she won several awards from the Iris Society for her cross-pollinated blossoms.
She was retired from GTE after 28 years as an Executive Secretary.
A master of interior decorating and a lifelong collector of Hummel figurines and antiques, she loved browsing flea markets for her "finds", roses, embroidery and lunching with her "silly girls".
She is loved and survived by her daughters, Marilyn Strain of Seminole and Joanne Epstein of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Lora Ginn and her husband Rick, of Bowlegs, Kourtney, Kathrina and Maxwell of Seminole, and Ruby and Cain Epstein of Los Angeles, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Kaila, Samantha and Amanda Lauridsen, Terri, Chey, Tyler and Dustin Ginn of Bowlegs; her friend, Larry Lane of Seminole and her parrot, "Amigo".
Jerry Wands
A memorial service for Wewoka resident Jerry Keith Wands is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Wands died Sunday, March 25, 2007. He was born June 21, 1971 in Oklahoma City to Gerald Keith and Irene Mae (Cook) Wands.
He attended school in Holdenville and was of the Baptist faith.
His father and grandparents, Howard and Irene Wands and Lewis Cook preceded him in death.
Surviving are sons, Jarid and Justin Wands; mother, Irene Mae Ingram of Cromwell; grandmother, Dorothy Cook of Shawnee and three sisters, Traci Elliott of Seminole, Suretta Wands of Holdenville and Shannon Cellars of Wewoka.
Kent Ward
Funeral services for Kent Dewann Ward are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel, Wewoka.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Stout-Phillips Chapel and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Kent Ward, born in to this world on Oct. 6, 1962 in Ada to Anita (Gonyer) Ward and Leroy "Sonny" Ward, passed in to eternity on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at the age of 44, from heart complications at Seminole Hospital.
At the time of his passing, he was employed by Central Oklahoma Family Medical center in Konawa as a carpenter, a trade he loved.
Kent loved to help anyone at any time. Kent’s favorite thing of all was spending time with his wife, Courtney, and their children. He was always proud of all of them at all times and not ashamed to share his joy and their accomplishments with everyone.
Kent graduated in 1980 with a class more like siblings than like friends, and all who knew him loved him.
He always had a smile and was always ready to laugh with everyone. He enjoyed his life and all who were in it. Kent loved to return to Sasakwa to visit his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Courtney of the home; their children, Courtlyn (age 14), Calah (age 13), Connor (age nine) and Carly (age six); his mother, Anita Gonyer of Seminole; his father, Sonny Ward of Sasakwa; sister, Suzy Winters and her husband, Mike, of Wetumka; brother, Chad Ward and his wife, Courtney, of Wetumka; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends; and maternal grandparents, A.G. and Josie Gonyer of Sasakwa.
Cousins, Linda Biggs and Robert Henry Griffith; paternal grandparents, Leroy and Ida Lee Ward; uncle, Tommy Dale Harris and father-in-law, Gary Woods, all preceded him in death.
Pallbearers for the services will be Kenny Davis, Shawn Ward, Jay Lewis, Franklin Coody, Abe Davis and Eddie Black.
Honorary bearers will be Robby Mosley, Elijah Winters, Seth Winters, Cole Ward and the entire Class of 1980.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made for Kent’s children at any Banc First under the care of Paula Tomas.
