Bettie Adams

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Bettie Mae (Stephenson) Adams are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Adams, 77, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Unity North Health Center in Shawnee. She was born April 6, 1931 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Stanley and Ruth (Thayer) Stephenson.

She was a registered nurse, where she worked at the old Seminole Hospital, Pioneer Nursing Home and Seminole Estates Nursing Home. Adams also worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart.

Surviving are three children: Ruth Peralsky of San Pablo, Calif., Jannice Factor of Seminole, and William Ruloph of Shawnee; stepchildren: Steve Martin of Kathleen, Ga., Belva Humphrey of Ft. Valley, Ga., Timothy Martin of Gray, Ga., Michael Martin of Muskogee; grandchildren: Kim Peralsky of California, Germaine Aldridge, Felicia Cartwright, and Andrea Cartwright, all of Seminole; and great-grandchildren: Douglas Brady of Oregon, Trebor Burns and Kyalie Burns of California, Damon Aldridge and Elizabeth Aldridge, both of Seminole..

Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Germaine Aldridge, Felecia Cartwright, Andrea Cartwright, Stephanie Branscum, Amber Lucas, and Tonia Rushing..

Wilma Adams

Graveside services for Wilma "Jean" Adams will be held at Tecumseh Mission Cemetery on Friday at 1p.m.

Funeral arrangements are by Ford Funeral Service, Midwest City.

Wilma "Jean" Adams, passed away peacefully March 22, 2008 in Midwest City. Jean was born March 1, 1923 in Shawnee to William Alexander Adams and Grace Sanders Adams, both deceased, and was the youngest of four daughters.

She lived in Shawnee when she began her career with Schlumberger as an accounting manager. She was a member of Desk and Derrick and the Tri-County Bowling League.

In 1969, Jean moved to Midwest City where she resided until her death.

Her three sisters preceded her in death: Alma Taylor and Juanita Cash, of Shawnee and Geneva Martin of Ft Worth, Texas.

She was survived by Kenneth and Francine Taylor, of Seminole; Don and Mary Taylor and Harold Taylor of Kingston, and many others.

Jean will be remembered as a fun loving aunt and friend to many, especially her nieces and nephews, including Kim Cash of Oklahoma City, who cared for her during her last years; Hugh Cash of Stuart Fla., and Judith Cross of Ft Worth Texas.

Jean’s love for travel kept her active before and after her retirement. Her love for animals left no stray cat hungry in her neighborhood.

We love and miss you Jean. You will always be in our hearts and memories.

Opal Ahaisse

Funeral services for Seminole resident Opal Ahaisse are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Hitchitee Methodist Church in Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Ahaisse, 82, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Ada Retirement Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1926 in Seminole to Serbert and Elizza (Harjochee) Ahaisse.

She was affiliated with Hitchitee Methodist Church and the Tusekia-Harjo Band.

Her parent; brothers: Cornlius Larney and John Ahaisse; sister, Betty Warledo, preceded her in death.

Surviving are 11 nieces and nephews.

Glen Akerman

Graveside services for longtime Konawa area resident Glen Dale Akerman are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, west of Konawa, with Father Matthew Brown, O.S.B. officiating.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Glen Akerman passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 near Sasakwa, at the age of 49. He was born Feb. 12, 1959 in Ada to William J. "Billy" Akerman and Judith "Judy" (Dobbins) Akerman.

Glen graduated from East Central University in Ada with a degree in Business Administrations. He was the owner and operator of Twister Drilling Company in Konawa.

Surviving are his parents, Billy and Judy Akerman of Konawa; grandmother, Beloysa Dobbins of Konawa; one son, Ross Alan Akerman of Konawa; one brother, Allan Ray Akerman of Konawa; one sister, Sherry Annette Jesse of Konawa; one grandson, Lance William Akerman of Konawa; and a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be: Brandon Stoup, Brian Brooks, Rick Pemberton, Maek Reeves, Robert Castleberry, and Jacob Akerman.

Katherine Alexander

Katherine Jo Alexander, Wewoka resident, died Saturday, Nov. 22, in Ada, at the age of 73. She was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Wewoka, to Major and Dora Mae (Stewart) Hawkins.

She graduated from Spaulding High School and Seminole Jr. College where she received her LPN License.

She married Leroy Alexander, March 2, 1967, in Midwest City. She worked for Indian Health Service and retired in 1995.

Preceding her in death are her parents, infant twin sister, and infant brother, Joseph.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy, of the Home; five sons, Roy (Bunny) Yargee, T.J. Yargee, Squeege Yargee, Ledon Alexander, and Leroy Alexander Jr.; daughter, LaDoria Williams; grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Wolfe.

Wake Services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Middle Creek #2 Indian Baptist Church with Rev. George Harjochee and Rev. Steve Holata officiating.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Middle Creek #2 Church with interment at Hawkins Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Wolfe, Tommy Hawkins, Jarrod Stewart, Russell Stewart, Brandon Kemble, and Joe Stewart.

George Allen

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident George Dennis Allen are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy and Anita Moreland officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

George passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 in Bossier City, La., at the age of 61. He was born on Aug. 13, 1946 in Seminole to Archie Abbott and Beulah Muriel Allen.

He was a truck driver for many years and was currently working for Western Flyer Express in Oklahoma City.

His mother, Beulah Muriel Rose; father, Archie Abbott; sister, Sharon Kay Ledbetter; one grandson, Kenneth Eugene Colvin; and grandparents, Mattie and George Allen, preceded him in death.

He is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law: Rhonda and Daryl Odom of the home, Wanda and Gilbert Ross of Seminole, Julie Gamble and David Yockey of Tecumseh, Victoria Allen of Ada, and Tiffany Allen of Purcell; three sons and daughter-in-law: George and Miranda Allen of Oklahoma, Clinton Allen of Oklahoma and Shane Allen of Purcell; one brother, Rickey Rose of Louisiana; and sister, Bobbie Jerrnigan of Enid.

Nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends, also survive him.

Pallbearers will be: Bruce Finley, Raymond Ward, Chad Larkey, George Wayne Allen, David Houck Jr., George Lozer, and Joe Don Finley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Wayne Allen, Roy Allen and Kenneth "Sarge" Colvin.

Eugene Allred

Eugene Allred, formerly of Atwood, died in his Seminole on Sunday, October 5, 2008. He was born June 13, 1917, in Weber County, Texas, to Frank and Ruth Cowgill Allred.

He was raised and attended school in Duncan and spent his life working as a Baker. He married Velva Young on Oct. 3, 1942, in El Reno. She preceded him in death on July 1999.

He has been a resident of Seminole for 13 years and attended the Freewill Baptist Church, North of Seminole.

Survivors include his son, Stanley Allred, of Choctaw and daughter, Gail Rooms, of Seminole.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 2p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church, North of Seminole. Rev. David McDougal will officiate and the interment will be at the Blue Ridge Cemetery, in Calvin.

Jabez Almon

Services for Rev. Jabez W. Almon are scheduled for Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Barnes & Jackson Funeral Home, 1820 S. Douglas Blvd, Midwest City, followed by a graveside service at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.

Rev. Jabez W. Almon went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18,2008, surrounded by his family that loved him dearly.

He was born in a log cabin east of Seminole on May 24, 1923, and while life was difficult during those early years, he shared with his family many wonderful memories of his childhood.

Rev. Almon thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Misti, Buffy, Haley, Casey, Lori, Joie, and Jamie, and was a wonderful influence on them as well as his great grand-children; Torie, Joey, Luke, Lane, Tiffany, Taegan, Kyle, Daniel, Christopher, Garret, Savannah, Alex, and Gracie.

He served in the Army/Air Corp in World War II, assigned to the 509th Composite Group.

He married his sweetheart, Wanda Breshears, on March 5, 1948, celebrating their 60 years of marriage while he was in the hospital.

Rev. Almon served in the ministry of his Lord and Savior for over forty-eight years, pastoring churches throughout Oklahoma, with the last church he served as pastor, being Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Norman.

While serving as a husband, father, and pastor, he also worked at Tinker AFB and retired after 33 years of civil service.

His father, John Henry Almon; mother, Mary Elizabeth Almon; and brother, Harry Ross Almon, preceded him in death.

He is survived by the love of his life, Wanda Lee Almon; daughter, Dixie Rider and husband Jerry, of Purcell; son, Stephen Almon and wife Connie, of Jones; sister, Mary Francis Davis of Paden; brothers: Odell Almon of North Little Rock, Harold Almon of Marlow; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Everyone that had the privilege to know this man has been impacted by his love for the Lord, his love for his family, and the kindness that he showed everyone. His smile and loving spirit will be missed.

Gracie Alsup

Funeral services for Gracie Edna Alsup will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, .at 10a.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Sand Creek Cemetery, in Seminole County.

Alsup was born July 15, 1912, in Wilburton, to James William Thomas Landtroop and Rebecca Jane (Teem) Landtroop. She died Monday, Sept. 22, in Seminole, at the age of 96.

She was a resident of the Okemah area most of her life. She married Alvie Abeart Smith, Sept. 2, 1932, in Okfuskee County. He preceded her in death July 4, 1971. She later married William McKinley Alsup, June 6, 1976 and he preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1989.

She was a homemaker and sewed, quilted, did crochet, and played the harmonica.

Her parents, two husbands, four sons, one stepson, and one stepdaughter precede her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Alvie Ken Smith, of Hillsboro, Mo.; four daughters, Dottie Logan, of Vista, Calif., Millie Jenkins, of Seminole, Annie Baumgardner, of Henryetta, and Kay Brandt, of Okemah.

Services under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. L. D. Davis.
