Wesley Butts

Graveside services for longtime Seminole county resident Wesley George Butts are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, with Larry Chesser officiating

Wesley passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 71. He was born on Sept. 25, 1936 in Apple Springs, Texas to John and Lottie (Collins) Butts.

He married Kathryn (Cullum) on Feb. 25, 1959 in Okemah; she preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2004.

He worked for many years in the oilfield running rigs.

He is survived by brother, Richard Butts of Dover, Okla.; sister, Bertha Moore of Borger, Texas; and grandsons; Floyd Harrison, Jr., Lesley Harrison, Byron Harrison and Ryan Harrison in Springdale, Ark.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lottie Butts; wife, Kathryn Butts; daughter, Tammy Louann (Butts) Harrison; two infant children; brother, Earl Butts; half brothers: Demond and Delmar Ross; and two sisters: Geneva Robinson and Dorothy Wells.

Stephanie Buxton

Funeral services for Seminole resident Stephanie May Buxton are scheduled for 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Buxton passed away on, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, at the age of 50.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1957, to Oatus Marimon and Betty Jo (Mouton) Davenport.

She married Robin K. Buxton, Oct. 13, 1979 in Starks, La.

She was a table games manager at the Sac and Fox Casino. She was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by her husband Robin K. Buxton of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law: Chase and Susan Buxton of Fultondale, Ala. and Chance and Angie Buxton of Holdenville; and two sisters: Debbie Cooper of Tyler, Texas and Lela Fontenot of Beaumont, Texas.

She is also survived by four grandchildren: Hunter, Jordan, Traycee and Darrick.

Her parents, Oatus and Betty Jo Davenport, precede her in death.

Sybil Byerly

Funeral services for Wewoka native Sybil Jane Whitlock Byerly were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Community of Christ Church with Elder Freeman Whitlock and Elder Carl Edgerton officiating.

Pallbearers were Keith Byerly, Kenny Byerly, Claudie Byerly, Bruce Byerly, Terry Byerly, and Jose "PePe" Chavez.

Burial followed the service at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Sybil Jane Whitlock Byerly was born on Aug, 30, 1939 in Wewoka to Ruth Goss Whitlock and Russell Whitlock. She went to be with her Lord on Jan. 6, 2008 in Ada.

Sybil attended school at Justice and Spaulding, receiving her diploma in 1956. She was married to Clyde Byerly on May 17, 1956 and he survives her of the home.

She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Whitlock, of Wewoka; and her three children and their families: Cheryl Woolard and Charlie, of Durant; Tammy Neal and Lonnie, of New Lima and Lance Byerly of the home.

Surviving grandchildren are: Hayley Swift and Daniel, of Lamar; Cassie Woolard of Durant; Brandon Pasley of Chickasha; Tara Miers and Dustin, of Wetumka; Amanda Neal of Durant; Timmy Neal of Wewoka; and Gina and Matt Thoma, of Bowlegs.

Four great-grandchildren: Hannah, Triniti, Danielle and Trenton also survive their Nana.

Her brother, Freeman Whitlock and wife, Norma Jean, of Prague, one sister, Darla Sisco and husband, Roy, of Wewoka and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Macon of Pickett also survive her.

Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives will be able to cherish memories of Aunt Syb.

She was preceded in death by father, Russell, her sister, Wilma and her brother, Frank.

Sybil had many accomplishments in her life in addition to her family foundation. She worked at Seam Prufe, Holdenville Movie Rentals, and Town and Country.

Early years of her life revolved around her family and sports. She once scored a Hughes County record of 59 points for the Spaulding Bobcats versus Byng.

She was also widely known for her pitching abilities in Fast-Pitch Softball. Her team was composed of sisters, sisters-in-law, and nieces. They were regarded as one the best teams in this area of the state.

In later years, her love of sports did not diminish. She enjoyed watching women’s softball, college basketball, and her great-grandkids playing ball. She loved attending the College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Gene Campbell

Memorial Services for Wewoka resident Gene Warren Campbell are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Church of Nazarene, in Wewoka.

Mr. Campbell passed away Monday, Nov. 24, at Valley View Hospital, Ada, at the age of 71 years.

He was born Dec. 30 1936, in Wewoka, to William and Monya (Baughman) Campbell. He attended Wewoka Public Schools and was self-employed as Carpenter and handyman.

Gene married Martha Stroud on May 23, 1980, in Payette, Idaho.

He loved fishing, hunting, playing pool, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He always helped any kid who needed help.

Gene will be missed by his wife Martha Campbell, of Wewoka; two sons Michael Campbell, of Seminole, and Billy Rae Campbell, of Pullayup, Wash; two daughters Carlynn Campbell, of Algona, Wash. and Rhonda Slaby, of Algona, Wash; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, four brothers, 4 step-children, and five step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous adopted children.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed and loved for all he did for friends, family, and his community.

James Campbell

Graveside services for Seminole native James Earl Campbell are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Burney Moore Cemetery in Madill with Ron Robertson officiating.

Services are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Madill.

James Earl Campbell, 49 of El Reno, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1958 in Seminole to Hubert Earl Campbell and Carolyn Pearl Case Campbell.

James grew up in Seminole where he graduated from Seminole High School in 1976. He attended Southeastern University in Durant, where he received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Science and Technology.

James worked for the USDA as a computer scientist in Durant before moving to El Reno in 1997, where he continued working for the USDA.

He was a member of the NSTRA and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a beach bum, and anything outdoors and family.

His grandparents, James Thomas and Opal Zelda Campbell and James and Audrey Case; one uncle, Jimmy Case; one aunt, Lorene Campbell; and one grandson, Brandon Joe Campbell, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Julie Campbell of El Reno; parents, Earl and Carolyn Campbell of Bridgeview, Okla.; son, Jason Campbell and his wife Brandie of Bridgeview; daughter, Cherie Burns and husband Mark of Concho; brother, Tommy Campbell and wife Chris of Bridgeview; stepsons: Mark Bell, Travis Buttram and wife Sarah, Jerry Buttram and wife Katie; and Jesse Buttram; grandchildren: Tyler, Mason and Lauren Campbell, Aspen Burns, and Allie Taylor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lloyd Campbell

Funeral services for former Seminole businessman, C. Lloyd Campbell, were held today at 10 a.m. at Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church with Eric Costanzo officiating.

Burial followed at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery with services under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

C. Lloyd Campbell, 78 of Bethel Acres, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Bethel Acres to E.A. Campbell and Della (Welch) Campbell.

He graduated from Bethel High School in 1946 and from OBU in 1962, with a degree in Business Administration.

On Aug. 5, 1950 he married Rita Chesser in Bethel Acres. Years ago he worked at Sylvania and managed and later owned Runge Co. and Empower, Inc., in Seminole.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in S. C. and Texas.

Campbell was a lifelong member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and teaching Sunday school for over 50 years.

His parents; one son, Pepper Campbell; one sister, Elsie Climer; one brother, Robert Campbell, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three children: Lyn Cearley of Shawnee, Lea Davis of Hamilton, Ohio, and Lloyd Campbell II of Richardson, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Charles Floyd Campbell and Thad Campbell, both of Bethel Acres..

Jimmy Cannon

Funeral services for Seminole resident Jimmy Dale Cannon are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Junior Mize officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Cannon, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 in Seminole. He was born May 30, 1934 in Seminole County to Lester "Boss" Cannon and Lois Ethel Aylor.

He was a lifelong County resident having lived in the Seminole and Little areas.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Jayne Capps

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Jayne B. Capps were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa, with Rev. Mark Streetman officiating.

Interment followed at Konawa City cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Capps, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Ada retirement center, Ada. She was born Sept. 24, 1919 in Konawa to Ashbury Eastes and Thelma (Potts) Brill.

She graduated from Konawa High School and on Jan. 21,, 1939 she married William L. Capps. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1962.

Her parents and one son, William "Bill" Capps also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Mary Jayne Masters of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
