Lifelong Seminole resident Sherry Lynn Chambless passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 52.
Sherry was born on Nov. 19, 1956, in Seminole, Okla., to Clyde Elmer Seay and Edith Irene (Dunn) Harper.
Sherry married Michael Chambless on Aug. 27, 1988, at Cedar Vail Gardens outside of Davis, Okla.
Sherry’s passion was teaching. She graduated from Seminole State College and East Central University with a degree in Education. She taught at Crooked Oak Elementary, New Lima Elementary, and Seminole Public Schools. At the time of her death, she was teaching fourth grade students at Northwood Public School in Seminole. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.
Sherry is survived by her husband Mike Chambless of the home, her mother, Edith Irene Dunn of Seminole, two sons: Kevin Lyle of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Casey Lyle of Seminole, and daughter Brittany Chambless of the home, two step-children: Jason Chambless of Davis, Okla., and Christy Lewis of Reddick, Fla.
She is also survived by one brother, Ron C. Seay and one sister, Pamela Jean Blalock both of Seminole, Okla. A host of other family and dear friends also survive her.
She is preceded in death by her father Clyde E. Seay.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, from 4-6 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 100 W. Strother, Seminole, Okla., 74868
Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Carter, Manlyo Black, Zac Craig, Jeremy Bryan, Carl Theirren, Shane Robertson and Cody Mitchell.

Stephen Chandler
Stephen James Chandler, of Blanchard, age six months, died Saturday, Dec. 6, at his home in Blanchard.
He was born May 31, 2008, in Norman, to parents Jamie and Brad Chandler, of Blanchard.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Dibble Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Cox presiding.
He is survived by his parents, of the home; grandparents, Bill and Tammy Chandler, of Seminole and Rick and Elizabeth Moore, of Blanchard; great-grandparents, Bill and Rosalie Chandler, of Seminole, James and Anne Johnson, of Davenport, Frank and Kathy Miller, of Oklahoma City, and Claudine Moore of Vanoss; and great-great grandmother, Nondious Chandler, of Oklahoma City.
Mary Chesser
Funeral services were held today at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ at Little with Bro. Rusty Dawson officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Mary Arzena Chesser was born on Sept. 28, 1929, in Seminole County, and departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in Shawnee, at the age of 78.
Arzena, the daughter of Roy Glen and Cleo (Jackson) Bond, was a life-long resident of Seminole County. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Little and was a homemaker.
She married Garvin Dempsey Chesser on Oct. 29, 1948, in Seminole. She was preceded in death by parents.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dempsey Chesser of the home in Little; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Deanna Chesser of Enid and Kevin and Pamela Chesser of Seminole; grandchildren: Casey and Nichole Chesser, Brianne Chesser, Brandon Adams, Daisha Chesser, Jamie and Jason Myers, and Tabitha and Dallas Ewton; and great-grandchildren: Addison Rae Adams, Mason Myers, and Maddox Myers.
The family has suggested expressions of sympathy be made in memory of Arzena to the Church Of Christ at Little, 11526 Hwy. 99, Seminole, OK 74868.
Florine Christ
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Florine Stout Christ are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Philips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Florine Stout Christ passed peacefully in her sleep early Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease.
Jewel Florine Hayes was born March 23, 1919 to John and Jewel Hayes in Erick, Beckham County, Okla. Florine was the eldest of three children and she spent her childhood on the family cotton farm.
After high school, she attended Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University, and later worked as an executive bank secretary in Oklahoma City.
Florine became an avid private air plane pilot and shared that loved with Archie Stout, who she married May 21, 1953 in Shawnee,
Afterwards, she soon became credentialed as a Funeral Director and worked with Archie at the family business, Stout-Sarber Funeral Home in Wewoka.
With Archie, Florine raised four children – Maria, Sabra, Jimmy, and DeAnn. She loved helping her children grow up and was very kind and generous to everyone.
She was artistic and enjoyed sewing, singing, traveling, participating in several ladies’ clubs, and entertaining. She and Archie were active in the Republican Party at the state level and they enjoyed politics.
After Archie’s death in 1978, Florine returned to college studies. She graduated with a BS degree in Social Work at the age of 61, and was subsequently employed with the State department of Social Services, working with the aged, blind and disabled.
Later she married Clifford Christ, also of Wewoka. They shared the farm life at Angus Valley Ranch and enjoyed endeavors, including golfing; playing cards; and raising and showing champion Angus cattle at regional and national events.
Clifford preceded her in death in 2003. Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Jimmy Stout; and sister, Louise Dodson.
Surviving are her daughters: Maria Hollingworth and her husband John Logan of Tucson, Ariz., and Sabra Todd of Wewoka, Sabra’s son, Eric Northcutt and grandson, Chase, of Bartleville, and DeAnn Kessler and her children, Kasey and Brandon, of Nogal, N.M.
Also surviving is Florine’s brother, Emily Hayes, and his family of Wagoner, Okla.; and her sister’s family of Elk City; Clifford’s daughter, Pricilla Dutton and her two sons and families; and Clifford’s son, David Christ and his two sons and families.
Anita Christian
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Anita June Christian are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Mickey Shaw officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Seminole.
Anita passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at her home in Shawnee, at the age of 56. She was born Jan. 8, 1952 in Oklahoma City to Early Edward (Bud) and Lillian (Box) Oliver.
On Sept. 3, 1988 Anita married James C. Christian in Pecos, Texas. She was the deli manager for five years at Homeland in Seminole.
Her father preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of the home; her mother, Lillian Oliver of Seminole; son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Cindy Allen of Elko, Nev.; her daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Steve Newman of Shawnee; and her daughter and fiancé, Lisa Chapman and Micheal Edwards of Leesville, S.C.; two step-sons; James Christian of Hibbing, Minn., and John Christian of Keewatin, Minn.; step-daughter, Jill Gray of Keewatin, Minn.; one brother, Edward Oliver of Boyd, Texas; and two sisters: Carolyn Sellers of Seminole and Margaret Tolley of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley Heath of Shawnee, Matthew and Jorden Oliver of Boyd, Texas, Danelle Edwards, Brittany and Zachary Chapman, all of Leesville, S.C., Mason and David Allen of Elko, Nev., Tyler and Ashley Newman of Shawnee; one great-grandchild, Rowan Luke Newman Heath; and step-grandchildren: Alex Christian and Nathan Christian of Hibbing, Minn., Joey and Steven Caroon of Keewatin, Minn., Timothy and Kaitlin Gray of Keewatin, Minn., and Annie Christian of Keewatin, Minn.
David Clanton
Funeral services for Seminole resident David Kirk Clanton are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.
Burial is to follow at Wolf Cemetery with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Clanton, 44, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Integris Seminole Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1964 in Odessa, Texas to James and Nancy (Hawkins) Clanton.
He moved to Seminole from Odessa, Texas three years ago and worked as a nurse’s aide at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.
His parents; two sons: Nathan Clanton and David Clanton Jr., of Seminole; and one brother, Scotty Clanton of Odessa, Texas, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Tammy (Pierce) Clanton of the home; three sons: Michael Clanton of the home, Rocky Shane Clanton and Eric Hallmark, both of Odessa, Texas; one daughter, Amy Hallmark of Seminole; and two grandchildren.
John Clark
Funeral services for Meeker resident John W. Clark are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Meeker, with Rev. Shannon Clark and Jim Whorton officiating.
Burial is to follow at new Hope Cemetery in meeker under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
John Clark, 87, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at a hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Oct. 25, 1920 in Belmont, Okla., to Milton Eugene and Lula (Martin) Clark.
John graduated from Meeker High School in 1939 and married Beulah Parks in Meeker.
He was a real estate broker and land developer, as well as; member of First Christian Church of Meeker; member of Meeker Masonic Lodge for 64 years; member of AQHA; and member of Oklahoma Realtors Association.
John loved music and played the steel guitar. He also loved horses and breeding them.
His parents; sister, Charlotte Parks; and great-grandson, Rhett Clark, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Beulah Clark of Oklahoma City; daughter, Carolyn Cope and husband John of Mason; sons: John Harold Clark of Meeker, and E. Clark and wife Trish of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Jeff Clark and wife Lori, Chet Clark and wife Darla, Brian Clark and wife Tricia, Shannon Clark, Bridget Cook and husband Colby, E.L. Cope, and Jonas P. Cope; brother, C.M. Clark and wife Sue of Seminole; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
Thomas Clark
Thomas Arthur "Tom" Clark, 74-year-old longtime Maud resident died Oct. 24, at his home in Maud. He was born June 27, 1934, in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents Willie Byrd (Poplin) Clark and Ollie Mart Clark.
He graduated from Old High, in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1953. Following graduation he served in the United States Army Reserve. He later worked as an electrician for Texas Electric as a lineman in Electra, Texas for 21 years. Then he worked for Sonat Offshore Drilling Company retiring in 2001, after 30 years of service. Following retirement he worked as a reserve deputy as a Pilot for the Pottawatomie Sheriff’s Department.
Clark married Billie (Castoe) Moody on Dec. 12, 1980, in Maud. He also is past president of the Lion’s Club, in Electra, Texas. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, in Maud, where he was serving as Church Secretary of the Sunday School Department.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years and former Pottawatomie County Court Clerk, Billie Clark, of the home; one son, Wade Clark, of Maud; three daughters, Angela Huckaby, of Pitkin, Colo., Roshel Stabel, of Lakin, Kan., and Christy McClaskey, of Maud; and twelve grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bryant Scott Clark; one daughter, Tamara Kay Clark and by one brother, Harold Clark.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Trinity Baptist Church, in Maud. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, near Maud. Rev. Wayne Taylor and (Grandson) Cody Clark will officiate the service.
Casket Bearers will be: Dewey Goodin, Jack Morris, Rex Huckaby, Kevin Cook, Gary McClaskey, Taylor Stabel, Jayce Stabel, Jake Jones and Wade Clark.
Honorary Bearers will be: John Nuckolls, Luster Heffley and Charles Pierce.
The family has designated the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund as appropriate for memorials. Donations can be sent in Clark’s memory to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 177, Maud, Oklahoma 74854.

Larry Jack Clements
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Larry Jack Clements are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment will be at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Clements died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 59.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1949 in Asher, Oklahoma to Hershell Dean Clements and Faye Estelle (Wheeler) Clements.
Clements graduated in 1967 from Asher High School.
He married Linda Kay Pack on Dec. 5, 1970 and they lived in Maud until moving to Seminole 28 years ago.
Clements worked as a truck driver for Ball Pipe and Supply Company in Shawnee until he had an automobile accident in October 2007.
He was a member of the Triple A Shooters Club in Shawnee.
Survivors include his wife Linda Kay (Pack) Clements of the home; two daughters, Becky Sue Stalnaker of Seminole, and Phyllis Kay Tucker of Seminole; one brother, Harvey D. Clements of Shawnee; one sister, Billie Clements of Oklahoma City; and one grandson.
