Albert Collier

Funeral services for Albert Lee "Paps" Collier are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Freewill Baptist Church in Okemah.

Interment is to follow Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Burton Petty and assisted by Brother Richard Larney.

Collier died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Okemah at the age of 89. He was born July 25, 1918 in Seminole County to Andy and Lessie (Weems) Collier.

Collier spent most of his life in and around the Okemah area. He and Juanita Kinslow were married Dec. 24, 1938 in Okemah.

At the time of death, he was a member of the Okemah Free Will Baptist Church. He served as a deacon in the Schoolton Free Will Baptist Church west of Okemah and was ordained as a Free Will Baptist minister on May 20, 1951.

He received a certificate of award from the Oklahoma Bible College on May 15, 1961. His first pastorate was at the Schoolton Free Will Baptist Church.

He also pastored Free Will Baptist Churches at Hannah, Calvin, Sunnylane in Del City, Wewoka, Prague, Henryetta, and Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville.

Collier was also a builder, and he built or remodeled every place that he pastored. He built an educational wing a new sanctuary at Sunnylane, a completely new facility at Wewoka, remodeled the facility at Prague and totally remodeled the Henryetta church.

During his tenure as pastor he served on the Oklahoma State Church Training Board, Oklahoma State Mission Board, and was moderator of various associations while serving on several district boards.

His parents, Andy and Lessie Collier; his baby sister, Lois; his brother, Garland; and sister, Opal, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; one daughter, Alnita Young of Ardmore; one son, Loy Collier of Okemah; one brother, Willard Collier of Midwest City; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Bible Bearer is Chandler Smith.

Honorary Bearers include: Danny Rutland, Roger Ennis, Darrel Johnson, Kurt Titsworth, Clyde Walker, Fred Lacquement, Tommy Gordon, Jim Grim, Sterling Elmore, John Ford, Bill Ogden, Joseph Walker, and Alford Page.

Addie Conn

Graveside Services for lifelong Wewoka resident Addie Lou Conn are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. She passed away Friday, Oct. 24, at Unity Hospital, in Shawnee, at the age of 90 years.

Addie Lou was born in Allen, to J.D. and Alvora Hanna. She attended Wewoka High School and graduated in 1936.

She married Clifford Conn in 1937. Together they had four children.

Addie Lou was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, in Wewoka.

She worked for Dr. William C. Moore and Dr. Ken Mathis, the Wewoka Library and the Court House thru Green Thumb. For the last seven years she resided at the Wewoka Nursing Center.

Addie Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her children; father, Cliff Conn; a son, Mike Conn; brother Alton Hanna; and sister Irma Lois Chappell.

Survivors include: daughter, Sandra and Husband Roy Harlan, of Enid, son Clifford Conn and wife, of Oklahoma City, son Billy Conn and wife Janice, of Madill; grandchildren are: Rick Harlan and wife Regina, of Snyder, Texas, Kevin Harlan and wife Sylvia Glen, also of Snyder, Texas, Trace Conn and wife Kara, of Rowlett, Texas, Christopher Conn and wife Jennifer, of Wewoka, Courtney Ward and husband Chad, of Wewoka, Jason Conn, of Dallas, Texas and Jordan Conn, of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren: Kimberly Harlan, Carrie Harlan, Tara Harlan, Ryan Harlan, Regan Harlan, Caleb Conn, Case Conn, Cade Conn, Cole Ward, Jacey Lane Conn, and Christian Kai Conn.

Arrangements by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

John Conn

Services for Seminole resident John Daniel Conn are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Clark officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Conn, 71, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. He was born April 8, 1936 in Konawa.

He graduated in 1954 from Excelsior High School and was educated at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

He retired in 1992 as Operations Manager at Hess Pipeline in Laurel Mississippi after a 35-year career with Amerada Hess Petroleum Corporation.

During his years with Amerada, he also lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vernon, Texas, Seminole, Texas and Calgary Alberta Canada. He returned to Seminole, Oklahoma to make his home upon retirement.

He was an avid golfer and tireless volunteer for community/civic projects. He was honored as Seminole’s Citizen of the year in 1995. He was a past member of the Airport Board, served on various city committees and was responsible for the construction of the Seminole State College baseball facility at Oiler Park.

Conn served a term as State President of the Oklahoma Petroleum Motor Transport Association and was a past director of Tulsa Country Club. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl C. Conn and Gertie Johnson Conn and his sister, Mary Nell Groves.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bettie Conn of the home; a nephew, Steve Groves of Ada; a niece, Carla Kay Atkinson of Oklahoma City; and a brother-in-law, Floyd Groves of Ada.

Memorials may be sent in his memory to the Seminole State College Baseball Program in c/o SSC Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 351 Seminole, OK 74818-0351.

Gary Conner

Longtime Wewoka resident Gary Don Conner, age 56, died Sunday, Dec. 28, in Oklahoma City.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Factor Officiating and burial to follow at Grant Chapel Cemetery, in Welty.

He was born Feb. 4, 1952, to George Conner Sr. and Madeline Hayes Conner.

Conner was a graduate of Wewoka High School and Oklahoma University, earning a Master in Arts. He later worked at Wewoka County Club as head Chef. He was a member of Akasvmkv Baptist Church, in Wewoka.

Preceding him in death are his parents, George and Madline Geraldine Conner and infant brother Jacob.

Survivors include his brother, George Conner, of Shawnee and companion Delonna Smalts.

Pallbearers will be Donald Conner, Donnie Judy, Bobby Williams, Joe Yahola, Jessie Brown, and Leslie Brown Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Judy, John Deem, and Brock Barger.

Nancy Coody

A memorial service for longtime Seminole County resident Nancy L. (Williams) Cotton Coody is scheduled for 10:30 Wednesday at the Amazing Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church with Sister Pat Coffey officiating.

Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Coody, 66, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee. She was born Aug. 27, 1941 in Wewoka to O.A. "Fats" Williams and Willie Faye (Pearce) Williams.

She worked as an L.P.N. at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City and is a former Sulphur resident. She married Joe T. Cotton and he preceded her in death in 2003. Later she married Robert C. Coody and he too preceded her in death in 2003.

In addition, her parents and one brother, W.G. Williams (2000), also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son, Randall "Randy" Cotton of Seminole; two daughters, Jodi Cotton of Wolf and Stephanie Sandlin of Ada; two sisters, Loretta Choate of Seminole and Carol Tahsuda of Alberta, Canada; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jerry Cooley

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Jerry Wayne Cooley are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ada with Rev. Robert Ware and Rev. Ed Bray officiating.

Burial is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery with services being under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Cooley, 60, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at his Konawa residence. He was born June 6, 1947 in Vamoosa to William Crawford Cooley and Nancy Elizabeth (Lane) Cooley.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 2, 1965 and served during the Vietnam War. Cooley was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received an honorable discharge on Dec. 18, 1968.

On Nov. 24, 1979 he married Bobbi Ruth Castleberry in Konawa. He was a truck driver in the oilfield for many years.

Surviving is his wife of the home; one son, Orin Cooley of Konawa; three daughters: Andrea Leonard and Cheyenne Cooley, both of Konawa, and Melissa Cooley of Ada; three brothers: Bill Cooley Jr. of Seiling, James "Fuzz" Cooley of Ozark, Ark., and Rex Cooley of Edmond; one sister, Mildred Roberts of Cushing; and five grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be: Jimmy Roberts, Greg Roberts, George Roberts, Rex Cooley, Clay Cooley, and Martin Maggard.

Eliza Coon

Wake Services for Eliza Coon were scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Jimpsey Harjo and Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Springs Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 23 1934, in, Sasakwa, to Titusie and Lona (Harjo) Carpitcher. She attended Rock Point and Vamoosa Schools.

She married Arthur Coon in 1952 and resided in Wewoka, raising her family. She was a homemaker most of her life.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Aguirre, Rebecca Larney, Barbara Jefferson, Greda Hooper, and Elizabeth Coon; son, Dwayne Coon; step-children, Margie Yazzie, Linda Tsdadi, and Arthur Coon; sisters, Effie Lena Harjo, Zelda Morgan, and Alice Walters; brothers, Bunny and Cully Carpitcher; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Arthur; daughter, Jeanetta, Douglas; sisters, Christine and Irene Carpitcher; brothers, Harris, Albert, Terry, Sam, and Andrew Carpitcher.

Pallbearers will be Abe Davis, Sam Wheeler, Roy Carpitcher, Jason Tiger, Rex Hailey, and Dwayne Coon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Larney, Mike Harjo, and Edvardo Aguirre.

Henry Cooper

Funeral services for Henry Dempsey Cooper will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 10a.m. at the Calvary Way Church in Prague. Interment will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Paden.

Henry Dempsey Cooper was born Dec. 19, 1921 in Russellville, Ark. to Barry and Mariah (Davis) Cooper. He passed away Tuesday, Sept. 09, at his home in Prague at the age of 86.

Mr. Cooper had been a resident of the Paden and Prague area most all of his life. He and Maudie Palmer Cooper were married Sept. 22, 1942 and she later preceded him in death March 3, 1976. He later married Emma Loy Cooper Feb. 14, 1979; she preceded him in death June 25, 2004.

Mr. Cooper worked as a mechanic all of his life and also served his country during WWII with the United Stated Army. He loved life and especially loved visiting and "aggravating" people. But most of all he loved his family and especially his grandkids.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Larry Dean Cooper; two grandsons, Robert Charles Cooper and Joseph Lee Cooper; and also 9 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his 7 sons, Bobby Cooper and wife Pam of Prague, Danny Cooper and wife Linda of Prague, Glenn Cooper and wife Terry of Paden, Lyndel Cooper and wife Sheri of Prague, Jody Cooper and wife Misty of Prague, Barry Cooper of Earlsboro, and Johnny Cooper of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Patsy Gregory and husband Don of Prague and Angie Whisnant and husband Jimmy of Bearden; one daughter in law, Billie Cooper of Prague; one sister, Evelyn Fisher of Stillwell; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.

Services under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah and officiated by Rev. Starland Davis.

Kenneth Corona

Funeral services for longtime former Seminole resident Kenneth Wayne Corona are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Stewart and Rev. Manuel Rivas Jr. to officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Corona, 40 of Oklahoma City, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1967 in Seminole to Raymond Roman Corona and Jane (McMullen) Marler.

His parents and one brother, Raymond Corona (May 14, 2007) preceded him in death.

Surviving is his stepmother, Alberta Corona of Seminole; stepfather, John Marler; two brothers: Albert Corona and Michael Kelough, both of Seminole; and two sisters: Vickie Haskins and Carolyn Corona Palacios, both of Seminole.
