L. J. Dahl

Longtime Seminole county resident L.J. Dahl passed away on Nov. 14, at his home, at the age of 84.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1924. in Yukon, to John and Edith Christian (Behren) Dahl.

L.J. married Edna (Cordell) Dahl on Aug. 29, 1947 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2004.

He served in the United States Army during WWII and retired from Tinker Air Force.

He was a "Winter Texan" he loved spending his winter in Brownsville, Texas with friends.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Leon Merriman, of Tecumseh; and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Norma Snyder, of Midwest City; one brother, Harley John Dahl, of Oklahoma City; and sister, Elberta Delachmit, of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Joe Lee Merriman and his wife Michelle and Kevin Merriman; and one great granddaughter, Madison Merriman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and six brothers and sisters.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Cummings Cemetery, in Maud, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Service under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, in Maud.

Troy Dame

Private family services for longtime Seminole County resident Troy Dame are scheduled.

He will be laid to rest in center Cemetery in Center, Okla. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Dame, 81, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center. He was born May 3, 1927 in Center, Okla., to George Andy and Ethel (Chaplin) Dame.

He married Betty L. Jones; she preceded him in death on March 16, 2007.

Dame retired from Law Enforcement, where he was the Chief of Police for many years for the City of Konawa.

He also worked for Pontotoc and Seminole Counties for many years. In addition, he was a truck driver and served in the U.S. Air Force.

His parents, wife, and numerous brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons: Troy D. Dame of Seminole and Michael Anderson of Tulsa; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Nicole Daniel

Nicole Davis Daniel, 26 year-old Seminole resident died Monday, Aug. 8, 2008 in Seminole. She was born Dec. 16, 1981, in Oklahoma City, to parents Pamela Kay (Davis) Daniel and Stephen Marshall Daniel.

Nicole graduated from Putnam City North High School in 2000 and continued her education at Francis Tuttle Vo-Tec. where she earned her degree as a veterinarian technician.

Surviving her are her mother Pamela Daniel of Seminole, father, Stephen Daniel of Hydro, and one brother, Brock Daniel of Seminole.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2p.m., Friday, Aug. 22 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Daniel J. Grimes will officiate the service, assisted by Matt Riffle.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Lueeta (Scott) Darr

Lueetta (Scott) Darr, 93 year-old, longtime Seminole resident went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2008 in Seminole, Oklahoma.

She attended Old Glory Assembly of God Church for over 80 years and was a member for over 50 years. She loved c

hildren and taught the beginner’s class for many years. She loved raising flowers and enjoyed spending time with her children and working in her garden and raising Bantam chickens.

She was born August 29, 1914 in Roff, Oklahoma to parents Carl William Scott and Ida Mae (Brinlee) Scott.

Lueetta married Amel P. Darr on January 29, 1936 in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Amel Darr of the home in Seminole, one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and his wife Helen Darr of Seminole, Oklahoma.

Other survivors include five grandchildren; Sharon Stanberry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Martha Allen of Norman, Oklahoma; Bob Harrelson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Sonya Hoselton of Seminole, Oklahoma and Kevin Darr of Seminole, Oklahoma. Twelve great grandchildren; Merry Rampergash, Rachael Detherage; Leah Neal; Annie Harrelson; Hayden Darr; Garrett Darr; Daniel Stanberry; Isaac Stanberry; Joshua Stanberry; Shelby Davis; Bradley Davis and Jessica Childers. Also surviving are four great great grandchildren;Elijah Rampergash, Ethan Rampergash, Samuel Dunn and Tommy Deatherage. She is also survived by a very special friend Bertha "Mamaw" Mainord and family and a host of other family and dear friends.

Mrs. Darr is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Louise Harrelson (2003); and by two brothers, J.C. Scott and Wendell Scott.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2008 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Eugene "Gene" Darr officiating the service and Rev. Allen Wood assisting. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Crawford Davis

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Crawford "Curley" Davis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russell Ryker officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Crawford passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at Seminole Estates at the age of 92 years. He was born July 15, 1915 in Little Rock, Ark., to Curtis E. and Eliza Settles Davis.

He married Alta Jewel (Hunt) Davis on Feb. 13, they were married for 71 years before she preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2006.

Crawford worked in the lumber industry for many years. In addition, he worked as a landscape developer and lawn service.

He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Crawford was a member of the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church.

His parents; wife, Alta; one son, Jessie Joe Davis; three grandsons: Gary Douglas, Ronald Heath Davis and John Darrell Davis.

Survivors include five children: James and wife Wilma Davis of Wewoka, Crawford and wife Sandra Davis of Wewoka, Gary and wife Nancy Davis of Ardmore, Carolyn and Husband Bob Camp of Wewoka, and Linda and Husband Mike Notz of Roswell, N.M.; 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and two expected.

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Davis, Eddie Davis, Adam Davis, Joey Davis, Raymond Waite, Michael Henning, Randy Mays, Scott Barlow and Richard Davis.

Dexter Davis

Dexter Lee Davis died Sunday, Dec. 14, in Tecumseh.

He was born Dec. 28, 1940, in Modesto, Calif., to Edwin Dexter and Jesse Lee (Chesser) Davis.

He grew up in Modesto and graduated from Downey High School. He married Catherine Harrison, on Oct. 31, 1957, in Modesto.

Davis served in the U.S. Air Force, spending time in Louisiana, and Greenland. In later years he continued his education, returning to school on the G. I. Bill and graduated from Seminole State College and East Central College with a degree in Criminal Law.

He began his career in law enforcement with the Seminole Police Department, in 1973 as a patrolman. He worked for the department for 20 years, retiring in 1993, as Assistant Chief of Police.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of the home; daughters, Sherrie Sheppard, of Shawnee, Melinda Lowman, of Maud; son, Delmar Davis, of Meeker; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his daughter, Renee Nell.

His last wishes were that his friends remember him as he was during his police career and that there be no formal funeral service.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donating to the foundation for medical research for Multiple Sclerosis be a consideration.

Dorothy Davis

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Dorothy L. Davis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Stout-Philips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phillip Mullins officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Dorothy L. Davis was born Aug. 27, 1923 in Bristow to John and Elma (Barnes) Richardson. Dorothy passed from the physical life after a long illness at home on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008.

She strove tirelessly during her life to serve her family and friends as a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a diligent homemaker, valuable helper, nurturing mother, and upright God-fearing woman.

Dorothy was the Society Editor of the Wewoka Times before she spent many years in the Seminole County Courthouse as Deputy County Assessor.

In addition, she was a bookkeeper for several nursing homes in the Wewoka, Konawa, and Wetumka areas. She also spent many years with Seminole Soil Conservation Office.

She was active in the EX-POW’s as Adjutant for the Central Oklahoma Chapter and also Adjutant for the Department of Oklahoma EX-POW’s.

Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church, Wewoka, and served as Sunday school secretary for a number of years. Recently she attended Midway Baptist Church.

Dorothy was also an avid volunteer for the Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Elma Richardson; one sister, Nancy (Richardson) Watson; infant son; sister, Marge Brixey; brother, Jack Richardson; two granddaughters, Toni Thatcher; great-granddaughter, Jill Smith; J.W. Thatcher, husband and father of her children – (Eddie, Patti, Donny and Jimmy Don); Richard Bradley, husband and father of her son, Ricky; and husband, Wayne Garrett.

She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Lawrence Davis of Wewoka, who tended her in her illness for more than two years; four children: Eddie Thatcher and wife, Eva of Conroe, Texas, Patricia (Thatcher) John of McLoud, Don Thatcher and wife, Barbara, of Booneville, Ark., and Richard Bradley and wife, Cayla, of Wylie, Texas.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four brothers: Harold Richardson, Donald Richardson, Bill Richardson, and Roger Richardson; and one sister, Nancy (Richardson) Watson.

A special Thanks to Patty Prater, Martha Davis, Donna Loeffelholz, and Robert Davis; who gave their love and support to Dorothy in this final year.

The family would also like to thank the kind and caring nurses from Amedisys of Seminole and Faith Hospice.

Lorraine Davis

Funeral services for Seminole County native Etta Lorraine (Phillippi) Davis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ at Little with Rusty Dawson and Howard Byerly officiating.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Lorraine passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the age of 96 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home in Seminole. She was born May 20, 1912 to Frank and Cora (Johnston) Phillippi in Wewoka.

On Dec. 1, 1937 in Wewoka, she married Mont Davis. She worked at the DHS in Wewoka, and he was County Commissioner when they met.

Lorraine was a city girl, living with her widowed mother at the time of her marriage. She often commented on how the "women of the community of Little" showed her how to cook and can.

Lorraine loved her family, the Church, cooking, and visiting with friends, most of whom have gone on before her and enjoying life. She loved flowers and was once a member of an Iris Club.

Her entire family attends the Church of Christ in their respective locations. She and Mont raised their children in the Church of Christ at Little, Okla.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Dodson and husband S.W. Dodson; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and husband Eugene Warrenburg; and son-in-law, Al Lawrence.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Davis and wife Beth of Little; her daughter, Kay Hinson and husband Adolph of Shawnee; daughter, Irene Lawrence of Pauls Valley; grandchildren: Owen Davis of Shawnee, Jesse and Lesley Davis of Pryor, Tracy (Scruggs) Noerper and Rob of Nashville, Tenn., Donna Hardin and Jim of Little, Marsha Guymon and husband J. Carl of Broken Arrow, Linda Dowell and Dwayne of Lubbock, Texas, Ann Frame and Danny of Pauls Valley, and Carol Werhan and Mark of Minnesota.

Also surviving Lorraine are 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by family, friends and the community of Little.

Virginia Davis

Funeral services for Virginia Davis are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, Lawton.

Burial is to follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of Becker Funeral Home, Inc., Lawton.

Mrs. Davis, 51 of Cache, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 in Lawton. She was born March 2, 1956 in Salay, Misamis Oriental Province, Philippines to Crosistomo delos and Romana (Cagulada) Santos.

She had been employed by Wrangler as a seamstress and she and her husband were longtime Asher residents.

On March 25, 1988 she married Sammy Dee Davis in Olongapo City, Philippines.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Paul Nungesser of Cache; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tiffany Davis of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren: Brett and Samantha Nungesser, Hannah, Adam, Christian and Ben Davis; and two sisters in the Philippines.
