Steve Allen Harjo, age 63, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, at his residence in Konawa.
He was born May 8, 1945, to Albert Harjo and Minnie (Buck) Harjo, in Maud. He worked in construction as a cement finisher.
He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Foster, of Konawa; brother, Joe Harjo of Shawnee; sister, Elsie Cully, of Konawa; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Minnie Harjo; and sister, Sereda Sanchez.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29th, at Swearingen Funeral Home. at 217 N. Broadway. in Konawa. A wake service is also scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28th, at the funeral home chapel.
You may sign his book from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday. Arthur Carpitcher will officiate for the wake service, and Joe Coon will officiate for the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Burgess, Damond Harjo, Loy Hill, Skip Foster, Herman Foster, and Bobby Joe Honsinger. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Chambers, Tony Raulston, Billy Graham, Adam Foster, Kenneth Larney, and Larry Harris.
Albert Harris
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Albert "Ab" Harris were held on Thursday at Mellette Cemetery in Eufaula, under the direction of Hunn, Black, and Merritt Funeral Home.
Eufaula resident, Albert "Ab" Harris, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Muskogee. He was born March 3, 1925 in Russellville, Ark., to Henry Wilson and Hattie Mae (Payne) Harris.
He moved to Eufaula several years ago and was a water well driller, auto mechanic, and welder.
Survivors include his brother, Faye Harris of Woodward; his son, Ray Harris of Broken Bow; a stepdaughter, Willie Mae Parsons of Eufaula; and three nephews: Larry D. Harris, Alan Harris, and Phillip Harris, all of Seminole.
Delouris Harris
Funeral services for Konawa native Delouris "Lois" June Harris were held on April 15, 2008 at Breshears Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ark., with Pastor Dennis Brannon officiating.
A private burial followed at Marshall Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Breshears Funeral Home.
Lois, known as "Magh" to her immediate family, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 in Huntsville, Ark., at the age of 69. She was born Dec. 29, 1939 in Konawa to James "Jim" Ingram and Jewel McAnally Ingram.
She graduated from Vamoosa High School in 1957 and after high school she attended Shawnee Beauty College in Shawnee from where she graduated in 1958 a as licensed cosmetologist.
On Oct. 18, 1961 Lois was united in marriage to Grady Harris in Seminole.
Lois was a homemaker, who enjoyed reading, writing poetry and short stories, camping in the Kiamichi Mountains of Clayton, Okla., and spending time with her family.
She loved music of all varieties and had a huge heart and love for animals of all kinds, especially her beloved cat Oreo.
Her son, Michael Wayne Harris; he parents, Jim and Jewel Ingram; sister, Mary Ingram Perry; and brother, James "Red" Ingram, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, Grady Harris, of Forum, Ark.; a son, Justin Harris and wife Tina of Forum; a daughter, Cristi Harris Logan and husband Eric of Green Forest, Ark.; a sister, Loretta Ingram Cole and husband Edward of Konawa; a sister-in-law, Wanda Ingram of Harrah; two grandsons: Mark Short of Kermit, Texas and Brandon Walker of Forum; a granddaughter, Cailey Harris of Forum; four nieces: Sharetta Walker and Lana Jesse, both of Konawa, Sherry Ragsdale of Seminole, and Alecia Gordon of Harrah; one nephew, Craig Ingram of Harrah; plus many cousins, great-grand nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
Donna Harris
A memorial service for Donna Carol Harris, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. at Refiner's Fire, in Ennis.
Harris died on Oct. 19 in Ennis, she was 66. She was born in Oklahoma City, on Jan. 19, 1942 to parents John Johnson and Wanda McCoy Johnson.
She was raised in Seminole. She lived in Ft. Smith Ark., Eufaula, Locust Grove, Arlington, Waxahachie and Ennis.
She was a hairdresser, and was a member of the Refiner's Fire Church.
She is survived by one son, Jay Demory, of Ft. Smith, Ark. and two daughters, Lessia Williams, of Midlothian, Texas and Lezle Pierce, of Eufaula, Eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grand children.
Her parents, one son, Russell McGehee, and one brother, John Johnson, Jr, precede her in death.
Services are under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary.
Gertie Harris
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Gertie J. Harris are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery with Tom Newell officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Harris, 73, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 14, 1934 in Polk County, Ark., to Henry and Hattie (Payne) Harris.
She attended the First Church of God in Seminole.
Surviving are two brothers: George Harris of Louisiana and Faye Harris of Woodward, Okla.; and one sister, Cynthia Anne Gunter of Seminole.
Lula Harris
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Lula Mae Harris are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Russell Vicars to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Lula Mae (Woody) Harris went to be with her Lord and Savior, and a host of friends and relatives, Sunday, March 2, 2008, after a period of declining health.
Lou was born in McComb, Okla., on Aug. 24, 1919 to Rosa Denton (Maness) Woody and James Monroe Woody.
Lou lived most of her life in Seminole County until she moved to Mustang in 2005 to be near her daughter. She graduated from Prairie Valley School and East Central University in Ada.
Lou married Dan Harris on April 8, 1946. They were married for 41 years before Dan passed away.
She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Seminole.
Lou was the best of all mothers and the greatest "Mimi" in the world. She lit up like a firework when her grandchildren or great-grandchildren were with her. She loved her family and was a terrific prayer warrior on the behalf of her loved ones.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Harris; parents, Rosa and James Monroe Woody; sisters, Mamie Maynard, Edith Butler, and Louise Totten; and brothers, Earl, Malcom, Dan and Harvey Woody.
She is survived by her son, Dana Harris and wife Suzanne of Seminole; her daughters, Tena Coates and husband Jim of Mustang; grandchildren: Jill Coates Mitchell and husband Roy, Jeff Coates, Rick and Suan Streater, and Heath and Christy Streater; and great-grandchildren: Madeline, Lydia and Harrison Mitchell, and Jace, Jenna and Lane Streater.
Casket bearers will be: Jeff Coates, Roy Mitchell, Rick Streater, and Heath Streater.
Marie Harris
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Marie Harris are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Alterra Sterling House, located at 2435 NW 122nd Street, Oklahoma City.
Jim Beckett is to officiate with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Rose Marie Harris died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 in Oklahoma City. She was born June 12, 1926 in Neodesha, Kan. to Buford and Samantha Jane (Hughes) Vermillion.
The family moved to Seminole Oklahoma during the oil boom, where Marie finished High School.
She joined the World War II war effort by going to work at Tinker Air Force Base in the main headquarters building where she met her husband, John W. Harris, an Air Force Second Lt. They were married April 7, 1947 in Seminole.
Harris joined her husband in a 30-year Air Force career and they raised two sons, John who graduated from Central State University in Edmond and Michael, who graduated from Oklahoma University in Norman.
Both sons entered the Air Force and are now serving their country as colonels in the United States Air Force.
She made homes in various stations in the U.S., France and Alaska. After retirement she and her husband made their home in Edmond, where they have lived until she passed away.
Her parents and one sister, former Seminole resident, Francis Belle Whitford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John P. Harris of Okinawa, Japan and Michael E. Harris of Austin, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Colleen Harrison
There are no services planned at this time for former Seminole resident Colleen Marie Harrison.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Harrison, 75, died Friday, May 2, 2008 in Oklahoma City. She was born Dec. 21, 1932 in Arkansas to Hartsell V. and Beulah (Hogan) Smith.
On April 4, 1953 she married Otis Gene Harrison, he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2003.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Surviving is son, Grady Harrison of Lakeport, Calif.; daughter, Trudy Harrison of Houston, Texas; brother, Don Smith of Shawnee; three sisters: Sharon McDonald of Oklahoma City, Dorothy Mathews of Shawnee, and Betty Duvall of Midwest City; and one grandchild.
Jamie Hawkins
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Jamie L. (Harjo) Hawkins are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Rev. Houston Tiger, Rev. Frank Mopin and Rev. Kellis Walker will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Jamie L. (Harjo) Hawkins, 50, passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 in Seminole. She was born Sept. 15, 1957 in Oklahoma City to parents Amond Henderson Harjo and Katie Louise (Tiger) Harjo.
Jamie had worked as a nurse, housewife and homemaker. She was a member of Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Jamie married Hoby G. Hawkins on May 13, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
Jamie leaves to cherish her memory her husband Hoby Hawkins of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Brian and Toni Fixico of Cleburne, Texas, Shaun and Jerilyn Fixico of Seminole and Jordan Fixico of Henryetta; one step-son, Heston Hawkins of Maud: one daughter and son-in-law, Dee Dee and Eric Bryan of Seminole; two step-daughters, Karis Hawkins of Ada and Kristie Hawkins of Maud; five brothers: Rusty Harjo of Claremore, Darby Harjo of Bethel, Keith Harjo of Konawa, Damond Harjo of Konawa, and Bo Harjo of Konawa; and four sisters: Ruth Ann Bondoni of McCloud, Clarissa Cole of Talequah, Elaine Harjo of Ada, and Justine Crowl of Seminole.
Other survivors include nine grandchildren: Taylor Burris, Miranda Fixico, Uriah Fixico, Cheyenne Fixico, Brooklyn Bryan, Isabelle Fixico, Charlie Fixico, Dylan Hardin and Savanah Hardin.
Her parents, and two nephews Mark Harjo and Justin Bondoni, precede Jamie in death.
Casket bearers will be, Jordan Fixico, Shaun Fixico, Brian Fixico, Eric Bryan, Heston Hawkins and Chad Cole.
Honorary bearers will be, Uriah Fixico, Chase Cole, Michael Shane Crowl, Brandon Harjo, Brent Harjo, Jim Bob Sandfur and Bruce Hawkins.
