Roy Hays

Roy K. "Tor" Hays, age 85, of Tecumseh, died Nov. 15, in Norman.

He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Stafford, Ark. to Parks Hall and Nora Mae (Springfield) Hays.

As an infant in 1924, he moved with his family to Oklahoma and had resided in Tecumseh since 1925.

He was a 1942 graduate of Tecumseh High School.

Roy was a "confirmed bachelor" until he met and married the love of his life, Elva Lou Doshier in 1997.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a Technical Sergeant during World War II with the 559 Bomb Squad, in England. He returned home from the war and lived with and cared for his ailing father until his death.

He worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 20 years until retiring on Dec. 31, 1984.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member and active in the American Legion Hill-Huett Post 260 and served several terms as Commander. He had also served as the American Legion State Commander. He was instrumental in the building of the Legion Hall.

He loved to cook and was always there to help in the Kitchen. He was active in the Oddfellows Lodge 62 and the Rebecca’s. Mr. Hays was a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association, where he had served as Roll-Caller and was a Past President. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Shawnee Post 1317.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Elva Hays, of the Home. Elva brought to Roy a loving family of seven children, Fred and Dorothy Doshier, Donna and Ronnie Foldvik, Jerry and Anice Doshier, Kay and Albert Contreras, Larry Doshier, Ronnie and Jeanette Doshier and Betty and Jeff Anderson; twenty-two Grandchildren, and numerous Great Grandchildren.

Roy was also blessed with many loving nieces and nephews including Larry and Peggy Hays, Anona and Floyd Kieffer, Jack and Barbara Hays, Norman and Gloria Moudy, Robert and Ann Bivins and James and Sheila Moudy, and host of other relatives and friends.

Service were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, with Jeff Anderson and Jarrod Anderson officiating. Burial was at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Georgia Heiskill

Seminole resident Georgia Adolphine "Dot" Heiskill passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Seminole, at the age of 76.

Dot was born on August 31, 1931 in Okemah to Audrey Indianola (Pyle) and George Clay Robertson.

She owned and operated her own business where she retired in 1994 she was also a member of the Church of Christ at Little and a longtime member of Business Professional Women.

She married Bobby Heiskill on July 2, 1994 in Sanger, Texas; he survives her of the home.

She is also survived by son, Richard Eidson of Little Rock, Ark., one daughter, Debbie McGuire of Denton, Texas, two brothers, Charles Robertson and Earl Robertson of Wewoka, three sisters; Patsy Knapp of Smithville, Linda Marshall of Oklahoma City, and Billie Moore of Wewoka; three grandchildren, Cole Jackson, Megan Belcher and Eric Eidson, three great grandchildren, Annalee Belcher, Connor Jackson and Landon Jackson.

Her parents and two sisters, Frankie Lee and Nola Marie Robertson, precede her in death.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at the Church of Christ at Little with Rusty Dawson officiating.

Interment will follow at Schoolton Cemetery in Cromwell.

Pallbearers will be: Jay Belcher, Chris Loman, Clif Loman, Frank Moore, Will Robertson and Tim Knapp.

Family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made in memory of Dot to the Church of Christ at Little.

Linda Hendricks

Funeral services for Linda Maurine Hendricks are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Long officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.

Lifelong Seminole resident Linda Maurine Hendricks passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, at her home, at the age of 63.

She was born on March 10, 1945, in Seminole, to Joseph Charles "JC" and Martha Ann (Cook) Hendricks.

She attended Seminole High School, was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was a cook at several restaurants in Seminole. She loved family gatherings, her dogs, arts and crafts and watching the "The Price is Right".

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Davis, of Seminole, one brother, Cliff Hendricks, of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Claudia Godwin, of Oklahoma City, two grandchildren, Thomas J. Harrington and Cici Berry, of the home and Cheri D. Harrington, of Stillwater.

Her twin sister, Glenda Jolene Yancey, precedes her in death.

Pallbearers will be: Kevin Yancey and Monte Hallmark.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 100 W. Strothers, in Seminole.

Virginia Hendrickson

Funeral services were recently held for longtime Seminole resident Virginia Mae "Jean" Hendrickson in Seattle, Wash.

Hendrickson died on Friday, June 26, 2008 in Washington.

She was born in Seminole on May 11, 1927.

She married John Hendrickson on March 6, 1944 and the two remained married for 64 years.

Hendrickson joined the Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Madera, California on September 21, 1952.

She was also a long time member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Ada.

She moved to Seattle five years ago to be near her son.

Hendrickson is preceded in death by her parents, Seminole residents Willis and Lizzie Jones, and brothers Harold, Nova Don and W.H Jones.

She is survived by her husband, two children, Joe and Don Hendrickson, two sisters, Lois Nance and Mary Langley, and four grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Johnnie Hennan

A memorial service for Johnnie Virgil Hennan has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Duncan VFW Post #1192, per his wishes.

Hennan died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at his home in Duncan. He was born Nov. 21, 1924 in Coalgate, Okla., to John Brown Hennan and Alice Clark (Jarrett) Hennan.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having proudly served during World War II.

Hennan retired from Southwestern Bell after 39 years with the company and had lived in Duncan more than 50 years.

His parents; brother, James Vernon Hennan; sister, Ouida Fisher; and son, Johnnie David Hennan, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his sister, LaQueta Wall of Norman; daughter, Suzanne Sosbee of Seminole; son, Brad Hennan of Marlow; son, Eric Hennan of Edmond; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Johnnie’s name to the Duncan VFW Post #1192, 2012 N. Highway 81, Duncan, OK 73533.

Betty Hester

Funeral services for longtime Seminole county resident Betty Hester are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday Dec.5, at the Twin Oaks Baptist Church, Northeast of Seminole. Burial will be at Little Cemetery. Rev. Forrest Weast is officiating with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Cecil Spoonemore assisting.

Betty passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 1, at Unity North Hospital, in Shawnee, at the age of 77. After a brief illness she went to be with her Lord.

She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Seminole, to Don Cline and Twilla (Fry) Cline.

She was very enjoyably married to Frank Hester on Sept. 27, 1947 in Seminole, and they had 55 years and 9 months of married bliss.

There were no children born to this union, but they both loved to have community children and nieces and nephews in their home many times.

Betty was a person who dearly loved being a loving and caring wife. They lived in the country most of the time, where they raised a garden. She loved to pick the produce and home can or freeze it for later use, and always tried her best to make things happy and good.

She was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church since she gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized on April 10, 1966.

Betty loved her church and enjoyed teaching the small children in Sunday School. She was always a part of bible school and loved to sing praises to her Lord.

After losing her husband Frank Hester, in June of 2003, Betty was never quite the same but tried to carry on with as normal a life as she possibly could. She continued to live where she and Frank had lived for many years and spent a lot of time keeping in touch with shut-ins either by visiting or by phone.

She loved life and very much loved the Lord and now has been called to that blessed Heavenly place where all can be " Together Forever"

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, three sisters Dorothy, Evelyn and Laverne, along with brothers James and Donald.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Jackie and Elaine Cline, of Seminole and several nieces and nephews and loving friends throughout the community.

Casket bearers will be Bob Paxton, Chris Perry, Kyle Hester, Wesley Hester, Bryan Newport, Luke Hester and Shane Hester.

Viewing starts Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Myrtle Hewitt

Funeral services for Seminole resident Myrtle Ruth "Midge" Hewitt are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Interment is to follow at 1:30 p.m. in Beggs, Okla., at the Beggs Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Midge was born Aug. 21, 1916 in Lovell, Okla. She went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Seminole. Her parents were Laura Ella (Foreman) Stealey and John W. Stealey.

She attended school at Beggs, where she graduated in 1934. As a senior there, she won a scholarship to business school, but chose instead to become a homemaker.

She married Cecil Shull on Oct. 7, 1934. Cecil preceded her in death in 1969. She later married Melvin Howard Hewitt of Bowlegs; he was a specialty welder in the pipeline construction industry.

Together, they traveled widely throughout the United States and abroad on various pipeline projects, including a stay of over six months in Holland. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1980.

Midge loved her Lord and taught Sunday school classes, from youth to adults, over a period of years. At the time of her death she was a member of Immanuel Fellowship Church of Seminole.

She had also worked at the "Silk Purse" women’s clothing store in Seminole during the 1970s and 1980s.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons and a daughter-in-law: Jim W. Shull of Shawnee, and John P. Shull and his wife Judy of Bowlegs; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul J. Stealey and his wife Donna of Seminole; one sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Owen Davis of Prague; she three grandchildren and their spouses: Victoria and Tony Knox of Wewoka, Darren and Dawn Shull of Seminole, and Misty Dawn and Ray Lemmings of Konawa; great-grandchildren include: Blade and Coalton Knox, Gage and Whitney Shull and Skylier and Tommy Lemmings; plus four other step-grandchildren.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one sister, Syble "Momma" Soule, formerly of Bowlegs; and by one brother, Raymond Stealey.

Casket Bearers will be: Blade Knox, Gage Shull, Justin Lemmings, Tony Knox, Darren Shull and Ray Lemmings. Honorary Bearer will be Coalton Knox.
