Elmer Eugene ‘Gene’ Hillhouse died, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, on Sunday, Sept. 14, at the age of 64 years.
Gene was the son of Frank and Lillie (Whitmore) Hillhouse, born on Sept. 1, 1944, in Stillwater.
He spent his childhood years in Stillwater and moved in his teenage years to Sapulpa. He joined the National Guard and then the U.S. Army, serving for six years stationed in Germany.
He married Judy Reich on Aug. 19, 1972 in Tulsa, where they made their home and where he was employed at the Ford Glass Plant, retiring in April, 2001. They moved in 2005, to Wewoka.
Hillhouse was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, in Holdenville.
His father, Frank Hillhouse, and one sister, Joyce Smith, precede him in death.
His wife of 36 years, Judy, of the home, and one sister, Lois Osborn, survives him.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10a.m., at the First Assembly of God Church in Holdenville.
Internment followed, at the Oakwood Cemetery, in Wewoka. Pastor Allen Lewis and Pastor Dixie Pebworth were the officiating ministers.
Pallbearers were J. D. Sims, Randy Tingwald, John Hampton, K. W. Smith, Mike Osborn and David Roark.
Services were under direction of Fisher Funeral Home, of Holdenville.
Jo Hixon
Funeral services to celebrate the life of former longtime Seminole resident Jo (Ketchem-Scott) Hixon are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Glover Mainord will officiate the burial at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Jo passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 after a lengthy illness while living in Tulsa. Jo was born May 11, 1922 in Cass, Ark., to William and Sarah Tennessee (Anderson) Ketchem.
Jo moved with her family in 1927 to Tracy, Okla., where she grew up and graduated from Prairie View High School.
She retired from the Bob Sullivan Agency in Seminole, where she worked for many years after having worked as office manager at the Seminole Municipal Hospital.
Jo also served as president of the Business and Professional Women’s Association (BPW), and secretary of the Prairie View Alumni Association.
Jo was active in community affairs, where she helped with Meals on Wheels; was a Pink Lady at both Seminole and Woodward hospitals; and was a tireless worker and member of the Tri City Church of Seminole.
Jo lived in Seminole until 2001 when she moved to Woodward to be near her daughter, and in 2004 she moved to Tulsa to be near her niece, where she lived at Burgandy Place, an Independent Living Retirement Center.
She enjoyed the many activities, trips and new friends she made at Burgandy Retirement Center and was one of their more active resident.
Jo will be missed by her family and many friends who will remember her as quick witted and enjoying everyone she loved around her. She was a devoted mother, aunt and grandmother, and she was loved by all.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, three sisters, and loving husband Ed Hixon.
Surviving Jo is her son, Jerry Scott of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughter, Shirley Ruble and husband Jim of Woodward; niece, Bobbi Gannaway of Tulsa; grandsons: Jeremy and Jonathan P. Scott of Lynnwood, Wash., Spence Ruble and wife Jamie of Woodward; granddaughter, Shelby Scott and husband Burris of Tulsa; and great-grandchildren: Burris and Brendan Smith, Jake, Rachel and Hannah Ruble.

William Holcombe
Graveside services for William Doyle Holcombe, father of Maud resident Garold Doyle Holcombe are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28 at the Stockton Cemetery in Stockton, Kansas with Rev. Vince Williams officiating.
Holcombe, 79, died on May 25, 2008 at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas.
He was born on May 17, 1929 to John and Matilda Susan Holcombe and graduated from Stockton High School in 1948.
He married Neva Maxine McCormick on August 18, 1949 and worked at Beechcraft, and Cessna in Wichita, Kansas. He later became an aircraft inspector.
Holcombe is preceded in death by his wife Neva; parents, John and Matilda Holcombe; three sisters, Mamie Holcombe, L. Frances Newbrey, Sarah Elizabeth Vestal; one brother, John F. Holcombe; one infant daughter Carol Jean; one son, David, and one grandson, Gregory Allen Holcombe.
He is survived by one son, Garold Doyle Holcombe, Maud;; one daughter, Wilma M. Welch, Stockton, Kansas; one sister, Mary C. Morgan, White Plains, Maryland.
One grandson, one granddaughter and a great grandson also survive him.
Donna Holden
Donna Jean Holden, age 45, died at her residence, in Konawa, on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Grandview Cemetery, in Kaw City, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa.
She was born Dec. 10, 1962, in Quantico, Va., to Chalon Holden, Sr. and Rose (Jewell) Holden. She was a manager for McDonalds.
Surviving her are her parents, Chalon and Rose Holden of the home; brother, Chalon Holden, Jr., of Ohio; sisters, Marria York, of Ponca City, and Teresa Collins, of Konawa.
Pallbearers are Darrin York, Sean York, Nathan York, Jeremy Holden, Allen Collins, and Arlin Collins. Honorary Pallbearer is Kenneth York.
Jesse Holt Jr
Memorial services for Jesse Leonard Holt, Jr., were held at 1 p.m., today at Grace Community Church with Rev. Drew Issacs.
Jesse Leonard Holt, Jr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 in Seminole at the age of 43. He was born on Oct. 22, 1964 in Modesto, Calif., to Jesse and Linda (Jordan) Holt.
He married Rhonda (Webb) Holt and she survives him of Modesto, Calif.
He is also survived by his mother, Linda Holt of Seminole; two sons, Jesse Holt, Jr. and Jarred Holt of Modesto, Calif.; two brothers, Ted Holt of Modesto, Calif., and Randy Holt of Seminole. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jess Holt; grandmother, Maw Jordan; great-grandmother, Gammie Ison; and Grandpa Jordan.
Floyd Hooker
The family has scheduled a private family cremation memorial service for Maud resident Floyd Eldon Hooker.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
Hooker, 56, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1951 in Roswell, N.M. to parents Bud Hooker and Doris Evelyn (Hathcoat) Hooker.
During 1967 and 1968 Hooker helped build a game refuge in Clayton, Okla. He married Barbara Kay (Jackson) Hooker on May 12, 1972 in Maud, and he worked in the oilfield as a roughneck and a driller for several years until he began driving truck for Will’s Concrete.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hooker of the home in Maud; his mother, Doris Austin of Maud; three daughters, Angela Cichocki of Maud, Candice Hooker of Maud, and Crystal Marie Mejmaoui of Oklahoma City; one brother, Bill Hooker of Maud; and two sisters, Mary Dunlap of McComb and Beverly Hooker of Maud.
Blanche Horn
Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Blanche (Coleman) Horn were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church, Maud with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.
Interment followed at Cummings Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
Horn, 81, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Unity Health Center in Shawnee. She was born July 5, 1926 in Helena, Ark., to Lewis Quinn Coleman and Betty (Tilghman).
She served in World War II in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps and was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, a Cub-Scout den mother, and a leader for the Blue Birds.
In 1984 she moved to Maud and was the manager of Buck’s Quick Stop in Maud until her retirement and was a homemaker.
Her parents and four sisters: Janie, Doris, Quinn and Monte, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons: John Elias and Randy Horn, both of Maud; one daughter, Margo Price of Midwest City; one sister, Billie Jones of Glenpool; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Casket bearers were: L.D. Coate, Tommy King Jr., Bill Hooker, Jerry Horn, Steve Wall, and Steve Wood. Honorary bearer was Leon Harjo.
Raymond Houck
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Raymond Ray Houck Jr. are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Temple of Praise Church with Rev. Harold Turner and Rev. David Pollard officiating.
Burial with military honors is to follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Houck, 60, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 3, 1948 in Seminole to Raymond and Ruby (Rogers) Houck Sr.
He grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School.
Soon after his graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a fireman aboard a ship during the Vietnam Era.
On Feb. 18, 1968 he married Latricia Timmons. He worked for over 20 years for Moran Pipe and Supply, and Ronnie Allison Trucking Company; from where he retired.
Houck was an active member of the Temple of Praise Church in Seminole.
His parents; stepmother, Helen Houck; and sister, Judy Barton, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the Seminole home; his daughters: Kristina Houck Aaronfields of Seminole and Cynthia Ingram of Seminole; brothers: Joe Lee Houck and Eldon Eugene Houck, both of Seminole; stepsisters: Linda Harris of Seminole and Wanda Barton of Shawnee; and four grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be: Terry Edgell, Ronnie Timmons, Robbie Callahan, Chad Houck, Kade Houck, Randy Edgell, Wayne Timmons and James Timmons.
David House
Funeral services for Seminole resident Michael David House are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
House died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Oklahoma City at the age of 54. He was born in New Bedford, Mass., on Jan. 28, 1954 to Robert House, Sr. and Irene (Andrade) House.
He married Beverly Yvonne (Mitchell) on Jan. 10, 1976 in Roby, Mo.
He and his wife moved back to Oklahoma from Kentucky and he worked as a physical scientist at Tinker Air Force Base for two years; prior to that he worked in the Civil Service for thirty-five years.
His parents and one brother, Robert House, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of the home.
Alice Householder
Alice May (Owen) Householder, 74 year-old Maud resident died Friday, Dec. 5, at Valley View Hospital, in Ada. She was born Oct. 3, 1934. in Britton, to parents William Carl Owen and Bessie Irene Owen.
She married Alfred "Curtis" Householder on Nov. 22, 1955, in Ada. He preceded her in death in 1998.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She moved to Maud in 1987 from Oklahoma City.
Survivors include her sons, Danny Householder, of Oklahoma City, and Daryl Householder, of Maud; brother, Glenn Owen, of Okmulgee; sister, Florence Householder, of Oregon; and three grandchildren.
Householder is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Householder; daughter, Kathy Householder; two brothers, Henry and Carl Owen and by one sister Pearl Owen.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at Cummings Cemetery, in Maud. Jeff Harris will officiate the service.
