Funeral services for former Konawa resident Finis E. Impson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with Bro. Arthur Carpitcher officiating.
Burial is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery with services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Impson, 75, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. He was born July 29, 1932 in Antlers, Okla., to Dickie John Impson and Myrtle (Bohanon) Impson.
He attended Goodland Indian School and was a former resident of Lawton. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on July 8, 1952 and he served his country during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal before receiving an honorable discharge on July 7, 1955.
On Nov. 25, 1967 he married Ruby M. Harjo in Konawa. He was a barber for over 18 years at Ft. Sill and later retired from HIS in Lawton. Impson drove a cab part time in Lawton.
He was a member of the Lawton Indian Mission, the Disabled American Veterans, and was a Choctaw Tribal member.
His parents and four brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of Konawa; two sons: Paul E. "Bunky" Impson of Gerty and Calvin W. Harjo of Ada; one daughter, Cyndi George of Konawa; five sisters: Emily Wolf and Marjie Impson, both of McAlester, Leona Wilson of Chickasha, Ann Impson of Talihina, and Sophia L. Impson of Krebs; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Robert Irby
Funeral services for Wewoka native Dr. Robert L. "Bob" Irby Sr. are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church, Holdenville.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
Irby died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, just six days past his 89th birthday. He was born in 1919 in Wewoka to William Irby and Irene (Hargrove) Irby.
His early years were difficult as he struggled to parent five siblings as well as himself due to the unusual absence of his parents.
Irby was ambitious, however, and completed high school at Wewoka High School and subsequently received a degree in optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., in 1944.
In 1940, he married Marvell Wright, also of Wewoka. After graduation from optometry school, they moved from Memphis to Holdenville, where Irby practices until his retirement.
Irby served in all offices of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, including presidency, and was active in the organization.
In Holdenville, Irby served as a member and president of the Kiwanis Club, member and president of the Chamber of Commerce, and was the BSA scoutmaster for many years.
He was a longtime faithful member of the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Stewards and many other positions of involvement.
His Parents; his wife of 66 years, Marvell; and five siblings: W.H., Vernon, J.R., Jackie and Betty, preceded him in death.
Surviving are three children: Peggy Lynn Sherrod of Knoxville, Tenn., Marsha Marvell Harmon of Nashville, Tenn., and Dr. Robert (Bob) Irby Jr. of Holdenville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Memorial fund of the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church, 8th and Gulf, Holdenville, OK 74848.
Barbara Isham
A family celebration of life ceremony for Barbara Jane Isham is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Free Will Baptist Church of Wewoka with Bro. Glen Pence officiating.
Barbara left this world Friday, April 25, 2008 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. She was born May 12, 1942 in Wewoka to Dave and Ethel (Johnson) Campbell.
On Oct. 20, 1961 she married Donnie Isham and to this union three children were born: Keith, Carl and Laurie.
Through the years, she had many occupations with most of them dealing with food. She loved to be outside, especially in "her" mountains of Colorado, where she has spent the past 20 years.
Camping, fishing, and enjoying wildlife, were some of her pleasures and she was a great storyteller and cook.
Her parents; husband; and brothers: Robert, Rufus, and Frank Campbell, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children: Keith Isham and Carl and Richelle Isham, all of Burlington, Wash.; Laurie Foster of Nebraska; grandchildren: Brandi, Kelly, Carlie, and Gus Isham; two twin great-grandsons; brothers: Alfred and Parth Campbell of Wewoka, and Jerry and Janice Campbell of Norman, and Alvis and Jana Campbell of Seminole; sisters: Kathryn Jackson of Wewoka, Grace Young of Seminole, and Freda and Trey Brice of Muskogee; sisters-in-law: Anna Campbell of Edmond, and Dorothy Campbell of Tulsa; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joyce Jackson
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Joyce fern (Ashlock) Jackson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Darrell Witten officiating.
Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Joyce, 66 of McLoud, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 in McLoud. She was born Oct. 24, 1941 in Holdenville to Jim and Ruby (Wilkenson) Ashlock.
She grew up in Allen, Okla., and then in 1957, at the age of 17, she moved to Seminole with her parents. She was a graduate of Seminole High School.
On March 29, 1960 she married Jimmie Ray Jackson in Seminole and following her marriage, she lived in Pueblo, Colo., for a few years before returning to Seminole.
She and her husband then moved to Moore, where they lived for 12 years. In 1975, they moved to the Bethel Acres area, where they have lived since.
A homemaker, she loved her life as a wife and mother. Her home was the gathering place for her family on Sundays and she enjoyed cooking for them.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and she canned many of the vegetables from her garden. Animals of every kind were her passion and she adopted and loved her cats, dogs, chickens, guineas, goats, ducks, donkey, cows, horse, pigs, pigeons and fish.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, Jimmie Ray Jackson of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law: James Michael "Mike" and Vickie Jackson of Oklahoma City, Kenneth Ray Jackson of Oklahoma City, Eric Matthew Jackson of McLoud, and Kevin Andrew and Angela Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Judy Harris of Blackwell, Okla.
Milton Jackson
Milton Jackson, age 79, died on Wednesday, Aug., at Valley View Hospital in Ada.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30a.m, Saturday, Aug.23, at Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Gene Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Byng.
Milton was born on Dec. 29, 1928, in Powell, to Clyde Jackson and Eolian (Young) Jackson.
He served during the Korean War as a member of the 45th Infantry Division of the Army National Guard. He married Mary Sue Austin on March 22, 1963, in Oklahoma City.
He was a rancher.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Jackson of the home; one son, Clay Milton Stillwater; one daughter, Angela Sue (Jackson) Delk of Oklahoma City; one sister, Letha Mae Meyer of Bethany; three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
His parents, Clyde and Eolian Jackson; three brothers, Harty Lee, Bill, and Jack Jackson; three sisters, Helen Silva, Clara Keyes, and Pat Liticker; and two infant sisters, Virginia Ruth and Jackson, preceded him in death.
Nealo Jackson
Funeral services for longtime Lima resident Nealo Eloise Jackson are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka, with Rev. W.E. Cooper officiating.
Burial is to follow at Lima Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Wewoka.
Absent from the body, present with the Lord, Nealo Eloise Jackson, 66, was born on Jan. 11, 1942 in Hughes County to Jack and Vera Berry. She passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 in Oklahoma City.
She received her education in New Lima Public Schools and worked as a nurse’s aide in Seminole County before becoming a teacher at Lima Headstart.
Nealo attended Seminole Junior College, taking child development classes. She went on to teach for 26 years in the area. She retied from teaching in 1996.
She was a faithful, loyal, and devoted member of First Baptist Church, Lima, for many years.
The Justice of Peace united Nealo in marriage to James Everett Jackson on Aug. 16, 1961 in Seminole. The couple was married for 47 years and to this union seven children were born.
Her parents; on brother, Jackie A. Berry; one sister, Christine Brewer; and one daughter, Kimberly A. Jackson, preceded her in death.
Nealo leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, James E. Jackson, of the home; three sons: Arthur L. Jackson (Polly), James B. Jackson (Myra), and Otis L. Jackson; three daughters: Treasha E. Jackson, Collette D. Liddell (Luther), Colletta D. Cooper (Herbert); loving mother-in-law, Pearliree Robertson; five sisters: Jackie Mae Stroud, Deaner Berry, Cora Brown (Willie), Wanda Jones (John), and Rosetta Berry; and six brothers: Earl Berry (Barbara), Benjamin Berry (Deloise), Doris Berry, Carl Berry (Ora), Kenny R. Berry, Donnie R. Berry, and Sammy L. Berry.
In addition, 12 grandchildren: Derrick Jackson, Alonzo Jackson, Elaine Jackson, Ladonna Jackson, Randi Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Erwin Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, LaPorsha Jackson, Jelisa Bruner, Jeremy Cooper, and Jennifer Cooper; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members, also survive her.
Ray Jackson
Ray B. Jackson, 87 year-old life long Seminole resident died Monday, Sept. 15, at Seminole Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1921, in Seminole, to parents Royal Benton Jackson and Annie (Beasley) Jackson.
Jackson graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1939. He then enlisted into the United States Army where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and earned the rank of Sergeant with the 675th Bombardment Squadron. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge.
He retired as an Airplane mechanical supervisor from Tinker Air Force Base, in Oklahoma City, after over 30 years of service.
He married Lillie "Priscilla" (Stowers) Jackson on Aug. 7, 1952, in Ft. Smith, Ark. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2000.
Jackson was a member of Harvey Road Baptist Church, in Seminole.
Survivors include two sons, Buster Southern, of Kirtland, N.M. and Jimmy Southern, of Farmington, N.M., three daughters, Joan Rose, of Marion, Ohio, Patricia Morgan, of Muskogee, and Sue Tibbs, of Tecumseh, twenty grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
Jackson is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Priscilla Jackson; one son, Billy Southern; one daughter, Shirley Woods; four brothers, G.B., Cecil, Brian and Floyd Jackson; two sisters, Lola Oakley and Ola Hughes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at Harvey Road Baptist Church, in Seminole, with Dr. Wade Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery with Military Honors.
Casket Bearers will be Benny Morgan, Jr., Steve Southern, Gene Warner, Bradley Myers, Cameron and Cole Middleton.
Honorary Bearer will be, Darrell Rose.

Floyd Jennings
Services for Floyd F. Jennings, age 98, of Holdenville, formerly a longtime Ada resident, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Faith Assembly of God Church, Revs. Wesley Martin and Alan Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Jennings died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at a Holdenville hospital. He was born Dec 3, 1910 in Protem, Mo., to William Thomas and Hattie Eslick Jennings. He attended school at Haskell.
He married Winnie May Hooper on Oct. 25, 1930 in Okmulgee. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1996. Jennings was a Pumper in the oilfield industry in Oklahoma and Illinois for over 50 years. He was employed with Sonoco and later with Cantrell Oil Company.
He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, in Ada where he served as a deacon for many years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from December 1943 until February 1946.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd F. Jennings, Jr., of San Angelo, Texas and Dale Dean Jennings, of Holdenville; five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; seven great- great-grandchildren; and sister, Geneva Mortenson, of Rio Vista, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Bearers will be Jerry Cook, Jackie Byrd, Steve Thoma, John Jennings, Royce Sliger, and Bob Frederick.
Honorary bearers will be Sam York, Ray Birdwell, and Kyle Stafford.
Services are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, of Ada.
