Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Helen Kemp are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Lima with Rev. Don Harding officiating.
Burial is to follow at Lima Cemetery under the direction of Meyers Mortuary, Wewoka.
Kemp, 87 of Seminole, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at Unity Medical Center in Shawnee. She was born Aug. 21, 1921 in Seminole County to Burl Hill Sr. and Armenia Quinn Hill.
She attended Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Church and was married to Francis Kemp.
Her husband and parents preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Thelma Island of New Lima; two sisters: Carolyn Berry of Oklahoma City and Arbie Jean Springs of McAlester; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
William Kepler
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident and painter, William Hugh "Bill" Kepler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
William Hugh "Bill" Kepler, 75 years old, passed from this life Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Shawnee. He was born April 2, 1932 in Galena, Mo., to parents, Hugh William Kepler and Loccie Leona (Liles) Kepler.
Kepler moved with his parents as a child to Seminole, Okla., and lived there most of his life.
Mr. Kepler married Donna Self on Dec. 18, 1954 in Seminole, and she preceded him in death on May 8, 1999.
Kepler was a long-time member of the Trinity Baptist Church and was also a member of the Baptist Men’s Association and God’s Antiques of Georgia.
Bill was a wonderful man who loved his family dearly; he would give you the shirt off his back and he believed in hard work. He was a Godly man and a very grateful man for the things the Lord has given he and his family. He will be greatly missed. There wasn’t a day that went by, that he didn’t pray for his family.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Arlene and Allen Broadie of Shawnee, and Judy and Dennis Clagg of Tecumseh; and one son Billy Kepler of Seminole.
Other survivors include four sisters: Mary Edith Burton of Pawhuska, Wanda Springwater of Shawnee, Naomi House of Shawnee, and Linda Davis of Shawnee: one brother, John Earl Kepler of Cushing; and two sisters-in-law: Sue Sims of Seminole, and Lora Beach of Maud.
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Ryan, Lee, Elisha, Zach, David, Lori, Leigh Broadie, Donald Clagg and Tammy Cody; great-grandchildren: Chloe, Joseph and Delaney Broadie, Lydia, Daylon, Paige and Alexis Clagg.
Mr. Kepler is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews, family and dear friends.
Kepler is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Kepler (May 8, 1999); sister, Helen Springwater; and three brothers: Oscar, Leonard and J.L. Kepler.
Memorial donations may be made to the Donna Keppler Memorial Falls Creek Fund to help under privileged kids go to church camp.

Robert Kern
A memorial service for Seminole County resident Robert "Shorty" Kern is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Temple of Praise in Seminole, with Rev. William Houck officiating.
The service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Kern died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 85.
He was born April 25, 1923, in Eldorado, Ark.
Kern was a maintenance worker at the State Capitol building in Oklahoma City before he retired.
He moved to Seminole County from Oklahoma City and had lived here for 15 years. Kern lived in the New Lima area.
Kern is survived by his son Dick Kern and his daughter Joyce Sparks, both of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Henry Kimmel
Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident Henry David Kimmel are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Henry, 88 of Oklahoma City, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1919 in Topeka, Kan., to Louis Henry Kimmel and Margaret (Edmonds) Kimmel.
He served two years in the U.S. Army. On June 25, 1940 he married Ann Elizabeth Millsaps in Ada; she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1999.
Henry was a Chemistry and Algebra teacher; principal of Seminole Public Schools; and served as superintendent of Woodland and Bowlegs School Systems.
He was an avid golfer and was the coach for the Seminole High School Golf Team; and led them to three State Championships.
The Oklahoma Coaches Association awarded Henry the honor of "Golf Coach of the Year" for the 1979-80 school year. In 1982, the National Coaches Association presented him with the "District Coach of the Year".
His parents; wife of 59 years, Ann Kimmel; and one son, David Kimmel, preceded him in death.
Surviving is daughter, Margaret Ledgerwood of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sammie Kimmel of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Dawn and spouse Lonnie Yandell of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Chasidy Kimmel of Oklahoma City; and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to Elisa, Jeanie and Michelle of Good Shepard Hospice for their outstanding care for Dad. Henry has a very outgoing personality and will be missed by all who knew him.
Joan Kinslow
Funeral services for longtime Prague and Seminole area resident Joan Kinslow were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating.
Interment followed at Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
Joan Kinslow was born April 3, 1931 in Byars, Okla., and departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 in Seminole, at the age of 76.
Joan, the daughter of L.D. and Lena (Dollar) Walker, graduated from Southeastern State University with a BBA.
She married Matt Kinslow on March 21, 1953 in Oklahoma City. They moved to the Prague and Seminole area in 1969.
Joan and Matt were partners in the Kinslow Sonic Group operating Sonics in Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi; the Catfish Roundup at I-40 and SH 99; and the operation of the 5K Ranch.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a PEO with Chapter AF in Prague, and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Seminole.
Joan’s parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Matt Kinslow of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary W. and Debra Kinslow of Prague, and Larry and Rhonda Kinslow of Seminole; daughter, Terry Wegley of Kellyville; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Jackie Walker of Minco; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Heartsill of Oklahoma City, and Shirley and Jerry Roberts of Brownwood, Texas.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Ryan Van Meter, Chris Van Meter, Morgan Wegley, Matt Kinslow and his wife Kim, Brooke Kinslow Case and her husband Brett, Kelli Johnson and her husband Bill Cody, Mandy Root, Jessica Kinslow, Lauren Root, and Clinton Kinslow; and great-grandchildren: Captain Van Meter, Kyler Kinslow, Hayden Kinslow, Jaycee Johnson, Lillie Johnson, and Kelby Vass.
Manton Kinslow
Funeral services for Seminole businessman Manton M. "Matt" Kinslow were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating.
Interment followed at Little Cemetery with services under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.
Matt departed this life on Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 79. He was born on Jan. 9, 1929 in Schoolton (Seminole County).
He was the son of Thomas Calvin and Florence M. (McGee) Kinslow; and was a longtime resident of the Prague and Seminole area.
He graduated from Excelsior High School and was drafted out of high school by the Chicago White Sox to play baseball, but learned quickly that he could make more money in the oilfield.
He proudly served his country in North Africa with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He married Joan Walker on March 21, 1953 in Oklahoma City.
Following his discharge as a Staff Sergeant, Matt went to work in the oilfield as a roughneck and for Baker Oil Tools in Woodward.
Matt and Joan opened their first restaurants in Woodward – Matt’s 66 Café and the Hi-Low. While living in Woodward, he met one of the co-founders of the Sonic restaurants, Charlie Pappe, and decided his future was with Sonic.
Matt and Joan opened their first Sonic in Liberal, Kan., in 1962. He and long-time partner, Marvin Jirous, co-owned Sonic Supply Company for many years.
They moved to the Prague and Seminole area in 1969. They were partners in Kinslow Sonic Group, operating Sonics in Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi.
The couple was also partners in the Catfish Roundup at I-40 and SH 99; and the operation of the 5K Ranches.
Matt was president of Kinslow Sonic Group at the time of his death.
He was the past director of the First National Bank in Prague and served many years on the Board of Directors of the Sonic Industries. He was the recipient of the first Troy Smith Award, Sonic’s most coveted lifetime achievement awar.
Matt was a past president of the Oklahoma Charlais Association; past president of the North American French Charlais Association; a member of the Prague Masonic Lodge; he received his 32nd Degree Mason at the Scottish Rite Consistory in McAlester; and was a Shriner of the India Temple.
He was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Seminole.
Matt’s wife of 55 years, Joan, preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2008. His parents, one brother, one sister, and two infant siblings, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law: Gary W. and Debra Kinslow of Prague and Larry and Rhonda Kinslow of Seminole; daughter, Terry Wegley of Kellyville; brothers and sisters-in-law: J.M.: Marvin" and El Reno Kinslow of Terrell, Texas, and Dale and Bea Kinslow of Shawnee; sister, Juanita Collier of Okemah; and grandchildren: Ryan Van Meter, Chris Van Meter, Morgan Wegley, Matt Kinslow and his wife Kim, Brooke Kinslow Case and her husband Brett, Kelli Johnson and her husband Bill Coody, Mandy Root, Jessica Kinslow, Lauren Root, and Clinton Kinslow.
In addition, surviving Matt are his great-grandchildren: Captain Van Meter, Kyler Kinslow, Hayden Kinslow, Jaycee Johnson, Lillie Johnson, and Kelby Vass; brother-in-law, Don and Jackie Walker of Minco; and sisters-in-law: Donnie Kinslow of Cromwell, Carolyn Heartsill and her husband Jim of Yukon, and Shirley Roberts and her husband Jerry of Brownwood, Texas.

Edythe Kirtley
Services for former Seminole resident, Edythe O. Kirtley, 93, of Norman will be 10a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, in the Primrose Funeral Service chapel.
Mrs. Kirtley was born January 27, 1915 in Missouri County, Texas to Ellis B. and Leta (McKinney) Osborne. She passed from this life on Aug. 25, in Norman.
Mrs. Kirtley is survived by her step-daughter Nancy Meese and husband Doug of Edmond; sister Anne Patteson of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandchildren Jane Meese of Oklahoma City, Betsy Sieck and husband Chris of Norman, and Kirtley Meese and wife Candace of Madison, Wis.; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

Bertha Jewel Kitchen, 89, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 a local nursing home. She was born May 1, 1918 in Seminole to Otis and Zella (Devereaux) Hawkins.
She married William Clyde (Bill) kitchen in June 1934 and she was a longtime member of the Varnum Congregational Methodist Church.
Her husband (1971); son, Steven (1976); her parents; five brothers’ and two sisters, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Gerry Yeisley and husband James of Shawnee; sons: Billy and wife Jean of Enid, and Danny of Texas; six grandchildren: Debbie Swaim and husband Danny, Tim Kitchen, Dinna Way and husband Richard, Jamie Barrick and husband Tim, Misty Smith and husband Zuriel, and Steven kitchen (Bowden); eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Arvel Hawkins and wife Cookie, and Glenn and wife Frances; and one sister, Viola Lothringer.
