Lifelong Seminole county resident Georgia Mullen died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Valley View Hospital, in Ada, at the age of 64.
She was born April 12, 1944, in Wolf, to William Leroy and Ruby Lwanda (Brown) Richards.
She married James Mullen on May 20, 1960, in Wolf; he survives her of the home. She is also survived by four sons, Wesley Mullen, of Shawnee, Curtis Mullen, of Maud, Michael Mullen, of Wolf, and Timmy Mullen, of Blanchard; two daughters, Dedra Mullen, of Maud and Michelle Mullen, of Newcastle; two sisters, Betty Richards, of Seminole and Barbara Burleson; of Jenks; 18 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous other family, kids she would take in, and dear friends.
Her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents and one sister, Gladys Richards, precede her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Brother Allen Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery, Wolf, Oklahoma.
Frank Mullins
Funeral services for Frank Mullins of Holdenville are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Holdenville First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Murray officiating.
Burial is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
Mullins, 69, died Saturday, March 29, 2008. He was born July 7, 1938 in Ada to Chester and Erna Mullins.
He attended Holdenville Public Schools for 12 years and in 1956 he enlisted in the U.S, Navy, and after one tour he married his wife of 48 years, Pat.
In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and in December 1965 he became a commissioned officer upon graduating from Officer Candidate School.
During his military service, Mullins served one combat tour in Viet Nam, receiving the Bronze Star for gallantry. His overseas duties included two tours in Germany and a one-year tour in Korea.
He achieved the rank of Major in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country until his retirement in July 1978.
After his retirement he and his wife returned to make their home in Holdenville. In 1993 Mullins once again retired after serving 15 years as Plant Manager of Wrangler plants located in Seminole, Okemah, and Coalgate.
He served as Deacon with the Holdenville Baptist Church, where he was known for preparing his sausage gravy and biscuits for the monthly men’s prayer breakfast.
His parents; sister, Wilma McDaniel; brothers: Wilburn Mullins, Jack Mullins, and Ronnie Mullins, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife; son, Michael Mullins of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter, Michelle Pannell; five grandchildren; sisters: Joyce Donaho of San Antonio, Texas, Dorothy Williama of Holdenville, Patsy Cline of Lewisville, Texas, and June Jones of San Antonio, Texas; brothers: Bob Mullins of Oklahoma City, and William Mullins of Richmond, Va.
Doyle Murphy
Seminole resident Doyle Bernard Murphy passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 77.
He was one of thirteen children born on April 21, 1931 to Robert Lee and Essie Mae (Ford) Murphy, in Ark.
He moved to Seminole eight years ago from Okemah. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of the American Legion Post # 204, in Seminole. He also served in the United States Army.
He married Carolyn Lou Musgrave, in Clarksville, Texas on Feb. 10, 1983. She survives him of the home; he is also survived by two daughters; Diane Marie and Richard Houck, of Seminole and Doris Jean Cameron, of Colbert, and one step-daughter, Dolores Jean Walker, of Oklahoma City, one brother and sister-in-law: Glen and Clara Murphy, of Ark., and one sister-in-law, Oma Murphy, 9 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
His mother and father, one son, Doyle Dwayne Murphy and eleven brothers and sisters precede him in death.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20, at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Imogene Mushinski
Imogene Brown Mushinski, 84, former longtime Seminole resident went to be with her Lord, Monday, Dec. 15, at her home, in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Mushinski was born July 11, 1924, in Seminole, to Virgil and Florence (Allstott) Brown.
Imogene was a waitress most of her adult working life in area restaurants. She was married to Frank J. Mushinski in 1944 in Fayetteville, N.C. Frank died on Jan. 28, 1999, after 54 years of marriage.
She is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline McKinney, of Oklahoma City, Patricia Brooks and husband Calvin, of Elon, N.C., Christine and husband Gene Ladusau, of Norman; three sons, Frank and his wife Paula Mushinski, of Bastrop, La., Stanley and his wife Linda Mushinski, of Alta Monte Springs, Fla., and Kennieth and his wife Marcie Mushinski, of Wrightstown, N.J.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Betty Lou Cox.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole, with a viewing from 8 –10 a.m., Saturday morning. Burial will take place following the service at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Leonard Myers
Leonard Ray Myers, 65, born March 10, 1943 passed away on Oct. 30. Leonard was a deacon at Brookwood Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school for years.
Leonard liked to watch and attend OU sports and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Myers; sons, Tony Myers, Damon Myers, and Kendal Myers; grandchildren, Amanda Myers and Tanner Myers; brother, Ronald Myers and wife Carolyn; sister, Connie Jaggers and husband Roy.
He is preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Martha Myers; and son, Shawn Myers.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, at Brookwood Baptist Church located at 8921 S. Walker, Oklahoma City.
Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, in Oklahoma City.
Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore.
Maxine Myers
Cremation memorial services for longtime Seminole resident Maxine Marie Myers are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole, with Rev. Gary O. Wilburn officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Myers, 86, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Shawnee. She was born July 17, 1921 in Downs, Kan., to Charlie and Daisy (Larson) McConnell.
In 1947 she married Lee Myers and they were married for over 50 years before his death on Sept. 1, 1998.
She moved to Seminole in the late 1960s and she worked for the City of Seminole, delivering meals for senior citizens and drove the senior bus to run errands and take them to the Heritage House.
Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Hanson of Seminole; stepdaughter, Reba Yeksevich; one brother, Kenneth McConnell of Arizona; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Samuel Myers
Graveside service for Samuel Phillip Myers are scheduled for 10a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Tate Mountain Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Troglin and Rev. Randall Drake officiating.
Myers was born March 14, 1943 in Oceola, Ark. to Ralf and Evelyn (Dickson) Myers.
He was died Monday, Sept. 08, at his residence in Wewoka, .at the age of 65 years.
Mr. Myers was self-employed as auto mechanic. He was ordained as minister in 2008, ministering at "Where The Timbers Cross Full Gospel, in Seminole. He married Sharron Clarke in Alabama, Jan. 7, 1993.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Survivors include wife; Sharron, of the Home, Children; Pam Docken, Margie Quebedeaux, and Phillip Myers, Step-children; Nena Drawbaugh, Robert Drawbaugh, his mother, Shirley and Robert Davis, Brothers, Daryl, Billy, and Eddie Myers, Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services conducted by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Eldon Myrick
Eldon Myrick, 53, of Seminole, died Saturday, Oct. 25, in New York City, N.Y., while on a business trip for his company Fairbanks-Morse Engine, of Houston, Texas where he was employed as a Field Service Engineer.
Eldon was born May 19, 1955 in Clovis, N.M. to Eugene Russell and Nellie Elizabeth (White) Myrick. Eldon grew up in Liberal, Kan. He attended public school and graduated from Liberal High School, where he was very active and excelled in sports.
Eldon had many interests, he enjoyed fishing with his wife Kathy, was a huge Nascar fan of # 24, Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed spending time and visiting with his two sons Jared and Ryan. He loved the outdoors.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany in the Tank Corp, from 1975 to 1978, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also attended Johnson Church of God, North of Shawnee, in the Johnson Community, and had lived in the Seminole area the past 8 years.
He met and married Kathy June Hall and was married on July 22, 2005, in Shawnee.
Eldon is survived by his parents, Dick and Nellie Myrick, of Seminole; his wife, Kathy June Myrick, of Seminole; two sons, Jared Steven Myrick and Ryan Russell Myrick, of Maryland; one daughter, Amanda Scheer, of Seminole; three brothers, Jerry Wayne Myrick, of Washington, David Leon Myrick and Ricky Eugene Myrick, both of Midwest City; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orin White and Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Myrick.
Service will be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole, and are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Charles Higgins, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole.
Casket Bearers will be Jared Myrick, Ryan Myrick, Dustin Myrick, Jerry Myrick, David Myrick and Ricky Myrick.
Honorary Bearer will be Ray Alsdurf.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.
Mary Ann Neal
Funeral services for Wewoka native Mary Ann Katigan Neal are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Wewoka.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with arrangements under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Mary Ann passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the age of 76, while sleeping in her own bed with her family present and watching over her.
Mary Ann was born Jan. 17, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to Forrest Dill and Ella Mae (Emory) Rupe.
She and her husband, Don Neal, shared a wonderful marriage of 23 years together and made their home in Tulsa.
She loved gardening, knitting, and taking pictures of her dogs. She also loved to spend tie with her family and making their favorite dinners.
Mary Ann enjoyed horseback riding and spending time in the mountains.
Mary Ann was a Norman High School graduate and later attended Seminole State College and the University of Oklahoma. She was a friend of Bill W.
Surviving Mary Ann are her husband, Don; her children: Kathy Hullum and husband Al of Tecumseh, Brent Katigan and wife Cynthia of Edmond, and Charles Donald (Buddy) Neal and wife Maggie of Tulsa; 12 grandchildren’ four great-grandchildren and two on the way; and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents and one son, David Allen Katigan.
Mary Ann was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical research Foundation, Valley Hope/Al and Susan Roberts Foundation, and any animal rescue of your choice.
Aleksander Nedeljkovic
Wewoka resident Sasha Nedeljkovic passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, at OU Medical Center, in Oklahoma City. Funeral Service are pending and will follow at a later date. Interment will follow at a later date in Kragujevac, Serbia.
Sasha was born on Jan. 17, 1974, in Kragujevac Serbia, to Bozidar and Mirjana Nedeljkovic. Sasha came to Wewoka his senior year in High school as a Foreign Exchange Student where he graduated with the Class of 1993.
He became a beloved friend, son, brother, and uncle to his host parents Dr. Glenn and wife Frankie Crowson and their family during the seventeen years he spent with them.
Sasha graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Bio Chemistry and was working as an MWD computer operator in the oil industry for Drill Right Technology.
Sasha enjoyed and was an avid fisherman and loved teaching his fishing skills to children, he also enjoyed drag racing and playing golf, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving Sasha are his parents; sister, Irena Nedeljkovic, of Kragujevac, Serbia; brothers, Vlada and Bojan Milenkovic, of Edmond; host parents, Dr. Glenn and wife Frankie Crowson, of Wewoka; brothers, Chris and wife Misty Crowson, of Wewoka, Ryan and wife Tammy Crowson, of Harrah, Craig Crowson, of Wewoka, Allen Hanson, of Denmark; sisters, Carla Crowson, of Choctaw, Nicole Crowson, of Wewoka; special Nieces and Nephews, Lucas and Tatum Rollins, Joseph, Aaron, and Thomas Tucker, Austin, Kennedy, Tyler, Bradey, and Carver Crowson; Britanie and Taveon Hobgood.
Pallbearers are Mike Black, Brad Huser, Bryan Campbel, Ryan Sosbee, Vlada and Bojan Milenkovic, Allan Hansen, Craig Crowson, Ryan Crowson, and Chris Crowson
Sasha will be forever missed by all who knew him.
