Funeral services for lifelong Maud resident Kathryn Sue "Susie" O’Daniel are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Church of God in Maud. Pastor Dan Kasper and Brother Charley O’Daniel will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, with services under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
Susie O’Daniel, 60, passed from this life Saturday, April 5, 2008 at her home in Maud. She was born Nov. 8, 1947 to parents Ray O’Daniel and Betty Jo (Richard) O’Daniel.
Susie graduated Valedictorian from Maud High School in 1966 and continued her education at the Oklahoma School of Banking and Business earning an Associate’s Degree in Business.
Currently the Citizen Pottawatomie Nation Tribe employed her as a bookkeeper for Firelake.
She also worked for Teresa Martin Insurance Agency in Shawnee from 1991-1996; Barton Industries, Inc., in Shawnee from 1975-1991; and Central Plastics Company in Shawnee from 1996-1998 performing accounting duties.
Susie has been a longtime member of the Church of God in Maud where she has been an active and faithful member.
Her father preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Betty O’Daniel of Maud; one brother, Charley O’Daniel of Yukon; and three sisters: Mary Hopper and Debbie Malcom, both of Maud, and Penny Hurd of Bridgepoint, Texas.
Casket Bearers will be; Jim O’Daniel, Josh O’Daniel, Jay O’Daniel, Caleb Hurd, Garrett Malcom and George Eastling.
James O’Grady
James Roe O’Grady, Husband, Father, Son and Brother, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the age of 74.
James was born May 15, 1934, in Rochester, New York to parents, Patrick Joseph and Bridgett (Maquire) O’Grady.
As a child he spent 4 years in his parent’s native country of Ireland while they recovered from the crippling effects of the depression.
He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School, Junior High and Batavia High School in Batavia, N.Y.
James joined the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper, serving for 3 years and receiving an honorable discharge.
After serving in the military James continued his career and trained as a professional pilot in Sarasota, Fla., where he received his professional pilots license with an instrument rating. James flew for Air America and at different times as a charter pilot and as an aerial applicator (spray pilot). He amassed over 40,000 total flight hours.
James loved flying with all his heart and soul. His motto was that any landing you could walk away from was a good landing. His love for flying occupied his professional life for over 42 years. After his retirement at the age of 66 he was still talking about getting back in the plane.
James married Frances Carol (Murphy) O’Grady on Oct. 4, 1968, in Vernon, Texas and inherited her two young sons as part of the deal. He adopted both of them while they were in High School. He chose them as his sons and they were proud to call him "Dad". A younger brother, James Patrick was born July 9, 1970.
James and Frances lived in Muleshoe, Texas until 1997 and moved to Amarillo, Texas living there until 2006 when they moved to Seminole.
James was an involved loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys football games.
After retirement he became an avid golfer but most importantly he became reacquainted and intimate with our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be terribly missed but he will always be remembered in the hearts of his family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas, John, and Francis (Jack) O’Grady and sister Rita Heatherman.
He is survived by wife Frances of the home, sons: Stephen Lynn O’Grady, of Ada, Sidney Michael O’Grady, of Amarillo, Texas and James Patrick O’Grady of, Albuquerque, N.M., two brothers Jerome O’Grady, of Albany N.Y., Vincent O’Grady, of Bergen, N.Y. and one sister: Margaret Miller of Lake Clear, N.Y. Eleven grandchildren plus three step grandchildren also survive him.
Serving as honorary bearers are Wyatt Jacob O’Grady, Tate Murphy O’Grady, Hoby Gene Hawkins, Heston Gene Hawkins, Bruce Lee Hawkins, Jim Heatherman and Patrick Leo O’Grady.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 2 p.m. with Father Basil Kennan, O.S.B. officiating.

Harold Oguinn
Funeral services for lifetime Seminole County resident Harold Oguinn are scheduled for Friday July 11 at 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Larry Payne officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.
Oguinn, 77, died on Friday, July 4 at Unity North Health Center in Shawnee.
He was born in Seminole County on April l8 to John and Anna Brown Oguinn.
He attended school in Wewoka and graduated from Douglass High School.
Oguinn was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and worked at Tinker Field Air Force Base before retiring as an electric technician.
His parents, five brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
His wife, of the home, two sons, Reggie Knighton, Seminole and Robert Samuel Cudjoe, Oklahoma City, and one brother, Delbert Oguinn, Oklahoma City, survives Oguinn.
Thomas Owens
Dr. Thomas Richard Owens, Director of Missions, Cimarron Baptist Association, and pastor, died on Saturday, Aug. 23, in Tulsa at the age of 61 years.
The son of the late Howard Owens and Belle Losey Owens, he was born on July 18, 1947 in Cushing, and was raised and educated in Cushing and Konawa, graduating from Konawa High School in 1965.
In 1969 he received his Bachelors Degree in Religion and History from Oklahoma Baptist University; he received his Masters Degree of Divinity in 1972 from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth and in 1984, he received his Doctor on Ministry Degree from Luther Rice Seminary.
He was united in marriage to Linda Johnson on June 30, 1967 and to this union two children, Daniel and Gayle were born.
He preached his first sermon at the First Baptist Church of Cushing, where he was saved, baptized and surrendered to the ministry. He pastored several Churches in Texas and Oklahoma, before becoming the Director of Missions for the Cimarron Baptist Association in 1990.
Owens was a member of the First Baptist Church of Drumright.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two children Daniel Owens of Tulsa, and Gayle Yost of Dallas, Texas, three grandchildren, one brother James Owens, of Mustang, and one sister Carol Allred of Killeen, Texas.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 2p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Cushing, and officiated by Dr. Anthony Jordan, Dr. Larry Wilson, and Reverend Robin Foster.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for memorial contributions be made to Camp Lela through the Associational Office at 1244 East Main, Cushing, OK 74023.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
Imogene Pack
Services for longtime Wewoka resident Imogene Bunnell Pack are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russell Ryker officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Imogene passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008. She was born Dec. 17, 1930 in Wewoka to Birt and Clara (Bates) Bunnell.
Imogene was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church; the Rebecca Lodge; and the Odd Fellow Lodge. She loved her church, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her parents; grandson, Jason Michael Pack; and brother, Mack Bunnell, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children: Johnny Pack of Shawnee, Darla Pierce of Oklahoma City, Michael Pack of Wewoka, and James McPherson of Midwest City; siblings: Harold Bunnell of Valley Springs, Calif., James Bunnell of Konawa, Grace McMullen of Wewoka, and Edna Shankles of Arizona; and grandchildren: Gabrielle Pack, Tommy Cowen, Michael Swartz, and Mathew Helton.
Grace Palmer
Graveside services for former area resident Grace Lorene Palmer are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Holdenville Cemetery with rev. Rev. Morris Brown officiating.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Palmer died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Seminole, just seven days after her 92nd birthday. She was born April 22, 1916 in Seminole County to Samuel and Lanora Edwards Skinner.
Her husband of 30 years, Jack Palmer (1978); her parents; brothers: Samuel Everett and Elvie Skinner; and one stepson, Gene Palmer, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughters: Marianna Harris and Barbara ward, both of Prague; a stepson, Bob Palmer of Rogersville, Tenn.; sister, Ruth Walker of McAlester; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandsons.
Tony Palmer, Sr.
Funeral Services for Sasakwa resident Tony Mont Palmer, Sr., were held Monday, Nov. 3, at Spring Baptist Church, in Sasakwa, with Rev. Frank Moppin officiating, assisted by Joe Coon, Roger Streetman, and Ed George.
Interment followed at the family Cemetery southeast of Sasakwa.
Pallbearers were the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Color Guard.
Tony Palmer passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the age of 90 years. He was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Sasakwa, to Jimmy and Mary (Condella) Palmer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Donna Fay, three brothers Early Lustey, Jack Palmer, and Daniel Palmer, three sisters Martha Lustey, Lydia Palmer, and Nelsie Palmer-Leetka.
He is survived by his wife Molsie, one son Tony Jr., two daughters Symathia Palmer-Hooper, of Sasakwa, and Tanya Sue Palmer-Bower and husband Steve, of Oklahoma City.
Tony was the oldest member of Spring Baptist Church, of Sasakwa.
He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army, receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart while serving in the Southern Philippines and Okinawa Island. Tony was a code talker, where he and two other Seminole members used their Seminole Language to relay messages over the radio. Tony was a member of he Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and the Fushutche Band.

James Patterson
There are no services planned at this time for Wewoka resident James B. "Jim" Patterson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
James B. Patterson passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at his home at the age of 73. He was born on Sept. 14, 1934 in Lincoln County to Joe and Una (Evans) Patterson.
He married Edna (Collins) Patterson on June 20, 1953 in Chandler.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of the home; daughter, Shirley Ann and husband Jim Sweet of Chandler; two brothers: Richard and wife Sherry of Chandler, and Charles and wife Robin of Chandler; three grandsons: Ian Sweet, Nick Sweet and wife Emily, and Brandon Street and wife Sara; three great-grandchildren, Brianna, Bailey and Braden Street of Missouri; two brothers-in-law: J.S and Stella Collins of Arkansas, and Billy and Debbie Collins of Arkansas.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Patterson and infant son, Tommy Joe Patterson; in-laws, Jess and Susie Collins; and brother-in-law Robert Collins.

Shari Patzell
Shari D. Patzell, 44, died Oct. 5. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Sprit of Life Church, Mandan, N.D., with Rev. Chad Gion officiating. Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Shari was born Dec. 8, 1963, the daughter of Warren "Bill" and Opal Osborn, in Hanford, Calif. One of five children, they moved to Oklahoma in 1969. She spent her summers visiting extended family including her grandmother, Dessie Rose Spencer, in California.
Shari grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma and graduated from Varnum High School, with honors, in 1981. Shari married Curtis Patzell on Nov. 17, 1983, and after living in several communities in Oklahoma in the 1980s, they moved to Bismarck, N.D., in September 1990. Shari is the mother of three children, Cortney, 20, of Mandan, N.D., Andrew, 18, of Fargo, N.D., and Brett, 13, of Mandan, N.D.
She graduated from University of Mary with a degree in nursing in 1993. Since 1994 she worked at St. Alexius Medical Center as an RN in the women’s surgery center. Shari not only loved the docs and girls she worked with, but was able to devote her working career to her passion, care giving. The care giving was not limited to the patients in the operating room, but also to her family and her many friends.
Shari was an avid movie buff. She loved all movies with any variation of genre. Frequently she could be seen with friends and family watching new releases on the big screen, watching DVDs or the old VHSs at home.
She also had a passion for books. Constantly, she would immerse herself in the book for hours at a time. She had a propensity to do everything in her life in a big way. This included not only entertaining, visiting family and friends, and another passion, gardening, but most important her spiritual life with our Lord.
Shari is survived by her husband, Curtis; her daughter, Cortney; her sons, Andrew and Brett; one granddaughter, Isabel Rose; her mother and step father, Opal and Chester Holland, of Miami; her sister, Tammy Foster, of Miami; three brothers, Wendell, Waylon and Warren, of Oklahoma; and many family and friends.
Her father, Bill, preceded her in death.
Shari’s quick smile and giving of herself for others will be missed.
