ADA — Services for Ellon Cantwell, 102, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dennis Tate will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Cantwell died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1903, at near Boma, Tenn., to Looney Brice and Martha Catherine Jared Thompson. She and her family moved to the Lovelady community where she attended school at Lovelady and Ahloso.
She married Joe Cantwell in 1937. He died June 14, 1988.
Mrs. Cantwell was a sales clerk under the management of Dillon’s for the C.R. Anthony Company, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Ada.
Survivors include a sister, Mildred Gibson, Ada; a brother, Delbert “Dude” Thompson, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Sliger, four brothers, O.V. “Jack” Thompson, Joe Thompson, Newton Thompson and Dow Thompson.
Bearers will be Truman Teel, Donny Worley, Willard Sliger, Bob Sliger, Don Thompson and Pete Presley.

ADA — Services for Lorene Sliger, 80, Fittstown are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home.
Ms. Sliger died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Stonewall to Jack and Maude Horton Johnson. She lived in this area all her life, attending elementary school at Owl Creek.
Ms. Sliger was a homemaker and retired from Ballard’s Nursing Home where she was a cook in the cafeteria. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Fittstown where she had been a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include four sons, Roy D. Sliger and wife Dorothy, Enid, Lanny Sliger, Council Hill, Mark Sliger, Fittstown, and Jeff Sliger, Fittstown; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Brother, J.C. Johnson and wife Norma, Sacramento, Ca.; sister, Jackie Bright, Marysville, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Bragg; an infant granddaughter, Shannon Penelope Kelley; and her parents.
Bearers will be Matt Robertson, Justin Robertson, Carl Tackett, Jerry Winters, Tom Flanagan, and Steve Ryan.

She died May 19, 2005, at Sulphur. She was born Sept. 30, 1945, at Blanchard to John T. and Eunice V. Mayo Rollings. She was a security guard for the Wynnewood Refinery.
Survivors include a daugher, Vickie Preast, Davis; three brothers, Arthur Rollings and his wife Marilyn, Lexington, Oscar Rollings and his wife Ellen, Asher, and Orval Rollings and his wife Kay, Byars; a sister, Lillian Dickey, Owasso; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Boise died May 8, 2005. She was born June 25, 1959, in Anchorage, Alaska.

SALT SPRINGS, Fla. — Private family memorial services for Boydean Wyche, 76, Salt Springs, Fla., have not been scheduled. Funeral services were held at Salt Springs.
Mr. Wyche died Monday, May 16, 2005, at a Jacksonville hospital. He was born April 27, 1929, at Rocky Chapel, Okla., to Welcome Lee and Juanita Miles Wyche.
He had lived in Oklahoma until he moved to Salt Springs in 1997. He attended schools at Rocky Chapel and Fitzhugh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He earned a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico for 46 years.
Survivors include his wife Arlene Wyche; a son, Jay Eldon Wyche; two grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

BRANSON, Mo. — Services for Ernestine York Kidwell, 90, Branson, Mo., formerly of Ada, are 2 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Holt Sodeman will officiate. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Allen Cemetery.
Mrs. Kidwell died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Branson, Mo. She was born Dec. 7, 1914, at Burkburnett, Texas to Burt and Vina Johnson York.
Mrs. Kidwell was a member of 50 years, of First Presbyterian Church. She attended East Central University as a music major, sang live on KADA Radio in Ada, and founded and sang with the Ada Civic Singers. She also served with the Pontotoc County Election Board as a volunteer for elections. She moved to Branson in 1995 from Ada.
She married Austin Kidwell on Dec. 27, 1937. He died Oct. 13, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Daversa and husband Jay, Branson, Mo., and Tommie Taylor and husband Jim Bowie, Crestone, Colo.; a son, Kent Kidwell and wife Jane, Edmond; five grandchildren, Jeff Kidwell and wife Susan, John Alan Kidwell, Mary Lollis and husband Brent, Kiersten Taylor, John Austin Daversa and wife Tatiana Daversa; five great-grandchildren, Madeline, Grace, Emma, Jack, and Amelia; one brother, Glen York and wife Doris; one sister, Frances Cagle and husband Wendall; a sister-in-law, Mertis York; and a host of nieces and nephews.

PAULS VALLEY — Graveside services for Joseph J. “Joe” Newton, 80, Pauls Valley, formerly of Ada are 2 p.m. Friday at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, the Rev. Kenneth Elkins will officiate.
Mr. Newton died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at a Pauls Valley hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1924, at Tishomingo to William A. and Eliza Jane “Marie” McDonald Newton. He attended school at Tishomingo.
He married Bobbie Lee McAnally on Oct. 8, 1946, in Ada. She died Sept. 12, 1989, in Ada.
Mr. Newton and family moved to Ada in 1947 after serving as a medic during World War II. He received a purple heart while stationed in Germany. Mr. Newton was a meat cutter for Safeway Grocery in California for about 40 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Joe Newton, La Mirada, Calif., and Ricky Lee Newton, Bullhead City, Ariz.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madeline Sorrells, Ada and Pansy Cradduck Bates, Ada; niece, June Mitchell; and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
