Funeral services for Wewoka native Jennie Mae Trevino are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Indian Baptist Church in Moore.
Burial is to follow at Moore City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuaries.
Trevino, 62 of Oklahoma City, died Saturday, March 22, 2008. She was born Feb. 4, 1946 in Wewoka to Frank and Mandy (Moses) Hill.
She was a homemaker and member of the Seminole Nation Tribe.
Her parents and brother, Franklin Hill, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband; children: Charles Ray Trevino, Cynthia Louise Trevino, Michael Aaron Trevino, and Jason Antonio Trevino; brothers: Charlie Hill, Walter Hill, and Mickey Hill; sisters: Leona Postoak, Imogene Carpitcher, Hilley Mae Gunville, and Edna Mae Harjo; six grandchildren; and two granddaughters on the way.
A prayer service is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Indian Baptist Church (2610 S. Broadway) in Moore.
Ruth Trout
Ruth H. (Moore) Trout, 76 year-old longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, Sept. 7, at Seminole Estates Care Center. She was born Feb. 28, 1932 in North Bend, Neb., to Mary Melissa (Potteroff) Moore and Rubin Herbert Moore.
Ruth married Iloff Lonzo "Lonnie" Trout on Dec. 29, 1952 in Raton, N.M. Together they made their home in Seminole in 1952 after moving from Colorado. Lonnie eventually retired from Sun Oil Company while Ruth was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Trout, of Lamar, Colo. and Gary Trout, of Seminole, one daughter, Peggy Trout of Shawnee; two sisters, Deva McGregor and Lucille Davis both of Amarillo, Texas; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died Jan.11, 1995; one brother, Ernie Moore and by two sisters, Donna Jean Turpin and Opal Cook.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10a.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Durward Tucker
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Durward Duane Tucker are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Durward was born in Fulbright, Texas on June 10, 1926 to Eukley and Madge Tucker, and went o be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008.
Pa-paw was truly "One in a Million" and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Sonny, as he was affectionately referred to by his mother, moved from East Texas and relocated in Wewoka to the Dixie Lease Oil Camp in 1930, when he was four years old.
He remained in Wewoka for 78 years in the Dixie Lease area, in which he was very proud to be associated.
Durward attended Wewoka Public Schools and during high school he was a member of the RufNex and lettered in football for four years. He graduated in 1944.
He continued to stay in contact with his friends and enjoyed sharing memories from his school days.
The day after high school graduation Durward enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was sent to Fort Smith and Camp Robinson to train with the 41st Army Infantry for a World War II campaign in the Philippine Islands. He was then stationed in Japan at the 364th Field Hospital.
The military was very important to Durward. He held 17 ranks, moving through enlisted ranks receiving Master Sargeant/E8 by the age of 19. He entered warrant officer ranks; making it to Chief Warrant Officer 3. Durward became a commissioned officer.
He came in as a 1st Lieutenant and retired as a Captain. Following his active duty, he enlisted in the 45th Infantry Division as a reservist. Durward dedicated 42 years of his life in active duty and the reserves.
He continued to dedicate many hours helping veterans in various capacities. The VFW "Buddy Poppy Program" was very near to his heart.
Upon returning from World War II he went to East Central State College and graduated with a degree in Economics.
On Dec. 5, 1953 he married Joyce Ann Jackson. Together they had seven children, 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Durward felt very fortunate to have such a large, close family and his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren.
Durward has a passion for photography and he was known for his documentation of events for his family and friends, which will be greatly missed.
In 1956 he embarked on a journey on Cedar Street in the junk business, where he could be found on any given day.
Durward was a member of First Baptist Church in Wewoka. He served on the Oklahoma Baptist University Board of Development; Oklahoma Baptist University President’s Council; Wewoka Cemetery Board; Wewoka Alumni Association; and the Executive Board of Youth and Family Services.
He also served as commander of the Harrison-Bell Post 122; Excellence in Education Foundation; GOBFW; and the Shawnee Quarterback Club.
His parents, Eukley and Madge Tucker; infant brother, Donald Joe; beloved son, Steven Duane; and grandson, Blake, preceded him in death.
Durward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Tucker; children: Barry and Debbi Tucker, Guy and Lisa Tucker, Bart and Teresa Streater, Billy and Suzanne Brown, Kerry and Jennifer Kincade and Curtis and Heather Green.
He was fortunate to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was proud of them all.
The grandchildren include: Karissa Tucker, Lane and Hillari Grimes, Chad and Whitnei Young, Brooke Tucker, Calvin and Ashlei Tiffee, Heath Tucker, Alexis Streater, Tyson, Blair Tucker and Brayle Brown, Dennis Murphy, Madison, Stevi, Ellie, Jackson and Edie Kincade and Olivia Green.
The great-grandchildren include: Carson and Cami Sosbee, Charlie Kate and Griffen Young, and Grace and Gillian Grimes.
A brother, Ted Tucker; sister, Geraldine Rutherford; sister-in-law, Wanda Spence; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends also survive him.

Jimmie Tunnell
There are no services planned at this time for former Seminole resident Jimmie Mac Tunnell of Tahlequah.
Arrangements are under the direction of Green Country Funeral Home, Tahlequah.
Tunnell, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008.
Hazellee Turk
There are no services scheduled for former Wewoka resident Hazellee Turk as per her request.
Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas is handling the arrangements.
Turk, 87, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Corpus Christi. She was born Dec. 17, 1920 in Oklahoma City to Frank Samuel and Agnes Merideth Smith.
She was a member of Church of Christ, DAR, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Col. Edward M. Turk; daughter, Merideth Lemont of Providence, R.I.; son, Sam Turk of Corpus Christi; daughter, Judy O’Neill of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that in her memory, donations may be made to the local Humane Society.
Norma Turner
Funeral services for Norma Jean Turner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Yale, Okla.
Burial is to follow in the Lawson Cemetery with services having been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale.
Norma Jean Turner passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 in Tulsa at the age of 80 years. Norma was born to the late Earl and Dovie (West) Cobble near Yale on Oct. 18, 1927.
Norma married Joe Albert Turner on Aug. 26, 1944; they were married for 50 years and there were five children born to this union.
Norma is survived by her five children: Gayla and husband Glen Seaton of Bixby, Debora and husband Jack Lemonds of Gravette, Ark., John and wife Ailene Turner of Seminole, Joe and wife Theresa Turner of Cushing, and Jeanette and husband Todd Prough of Yale; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Kenneth Earl and wife Shirley Cobble of Smyrna, Tenn., and Didley and wife Sandy Cobble of Sapulpa; and four sisters: Beulah Thompson of Rogers, Ark., Mary Folberg of Rogers, Ark., Lily Mae Bolerjack of Coffee Springs, Ala., Virginia and husband Cliff Bolerjack of Smyrna, Tenn.
Her husband, Joe Albert Turner; one brother, Eldon Cobble; one sister, Edith Cobble; one infant son; one grandson, Johnny Lee Turner; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Turner; and her parents, Earl and Dovie Cobble, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Toni Underwood
Toni D. Underwood died Friday, Dec. 5, at the Watonga Hospital. She was born on Sept. 27, 1973, to parents Jimmie Dean Harjo Sr. and Donna Lee Underwood.
She was a graduate of Pleasant Grove School and a member of Hitchitee Church.
She is survived by daughter, Hocfke K-ce Alexis Underwood, of the home; her father, Jimmie Dean Harjo, Sr., of Seminole; her mother, Donna Lee Underwood, of Seiling; ten sisters, Angela Harjo, Kathryn Harjo, Amber Coon, Willie, Minnie, Sally and Jackie Harjo, of Seminole, Fawna Harjo, of Texas, Taffney Harjo, of Oklahoma City, and Ruthann Simpson, of Shawnee; eleven brothers, Chris Pipestem, Chio Pipestem, Ronnie Harjo, Kevin Harjo, of Oklahoma City, Sonny and Jimmy Dean Harjo, Jr., Franky Harjo, Albert Tiger, Simon Harjo, and BB Tanyan, all of Seminole, and Nelson Battiest, of Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by one sister Casey Jo Pipestem.
She will be taken to the home at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, for visitation until service time on Wednesday.
Wake services will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 3313 N. Hwy 99, in Seminole. It will be open to speakers.
Pallbearers will be Albert Tiger, Simon Harjo, Clifton Tanyan, Ronnie Harjo, Chio Pipestem, Honece Pipestem, Nelson Battiest and Kevin Harjo.
Honorary Bearers will be Jimmie Dean Harjo, Sr., Meche Harjo, Kirk Fye, William Snyder, Jimmie Dean Harjo, Jr., Altalok Harjo, B.J. Kavlauty and Chris Pipestem.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Hitchitee Church with Victor and Ted Underwood officiating and Mike Harjo assisting. Interment will follow at Harjo Family Cemetery.

Willa VanMeter
Willa VanMeter, 94 year-old longtime Seminole and Pottawatomie County resident died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Solara Hospital in Shawnee.
She was born June 6, 1914, in Maud, to parents Beedie (Brown) Cherry and Ezra Louis Cherry.
She married Gravis Eugene "Gene" VanMeter on Dec. 30, 1938, in Burkburnett, Texas. He preceded her in death, in 1965. She was of the Baptist faith and worked at the Maud Nursing Home until her retirement.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Iva Cherry, of Tuttle; nephew, James Mapes, of El Reno; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene VanMeter; son, Geary Eugene "Tick" VanMeter; two brothers, Otis Lee Cherry and Clarence N. Cherry; and sister, Essie Fern Cherry.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at Cummings Cemetery, in Maud. Rev. Ed Bray will officiate the service.
Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, in Maud.
Lee Vasquez
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Lee Vasquez are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Pentecostal Church with Rev. Larry Chesser, Sr. and Frank Trent officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Wetumka.
Vasquez, 51, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. He was born April 23, 1956 in Cameron, Texas to Jim and Jackie Vasquez.
He attended Latta School and was married to Shirley A. Vasquez. He was employed by Sheppard Heritage Homes.
His parents and brother, Jesse Vasquez, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; four sons: Joshua Vasquez, Jeremiah Vasquez, Reno Vasquez, all of the home, and Joshua Belcher of Ada; one daughter, Carrie Vasquez of the home; four sisters: Nancy Walker and Mary Rodriguez, both of Oklahoma City, Rachel Morgan and Becky Smith, Both of Ada; and two brothers: Jimmy Vasquez of Oklahoma City and Tony Vasquez of Ada.
Serving as bearers will be: Richard Gene Walker, Tony Vasquez, Rick Smith II, Danny Taylor, and Randy Sitton.
Honorary bearers will be: Rick Smith Sr., Joshua Belcher, and Joseph Stevens.
