CLYDE LOVIN
KONAWA — Graveside services for Clyde Villar Lovin, 94, Konawa, are 10 a.m. Friday at McGee Cemetery in Stratford, the Rev. Robert Brown will officiate.

Mr. Lovin died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born March 15, 1911, at Talihina to John Wesley and Dora Shipp Lovin. He moved to Konawa 25 years ago.

Mr. Lovin married Dorothy Wilma Magar July 12, 1952, in Ada. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lovin, of the home; four daughters, Donna Lovin, Maud, Bobbie Lovin, Tulsa, Billie Williams and husband Harold, Durant, Betty Tobin and husband Dennis, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by numerous relatives.

TULSA — Memorial services for Raymond Harriss Hopper, 79, Tulsa, are 2 p.m. Friday at Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa, Edward Mosier officiating. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Edward Mosier officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.

Mr. Hopper died on Thursday, May 12, 2005, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born Dec. 19, 1925, at Ada to Clyde and Ozia Cantwell Hopper. He graduated from Ada High School and received at bachelor’s degree in chemistry from East Central University. He worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville for 35 years in the financial services division. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa.

He married Norma O’Neal on Oct. 4, 1946, in Ada.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; one son, Phillip Hopper and wife Susan, Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Michelle Hamm and husband Greg, Houston, Texas; grandson, Carson Hamm; one brother, Fred Hooper and his wife Sue Hopper, Ada; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Bearers are Mike Howard, Steve Hopper, Fred Hopper, Rusty Hopper, Jack Mullins, Ronald Mullins and Darrell Mullins. Honorary bearer is David McCollum.

Mr. Winfrey died May 15, 2005, at Tishomingo.

ADA — Services for Joe Dennis Potts, 88, Ada, are 10 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Curt Bartmess will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Potts died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born January 4, 1917 at Tishomingo to John D. and Maggie Wolford Potts. He attended school at Bullard Chapel in the north Tishomingo area. He moved to Ada in the early 1940s from Tishomingo.

Mr. Potts married Opal V. Hendrix July 31, 1936. She died Nov. 29, 2002. He was employed in the Forming Department with Brockway Glass Company in Ada, retiring in 1976 as a forming supervisor. Mr. Potts was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include one son, Meredith Potts and his wife Joyce, Ada; two grandchildren, Dewayne Potts and Becky King and husband Chad; four great grandchildren, Matthew and Mitchell Potts and Coleman and Auburn King; and a sister, Marie Richens, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Green, Daisy Gaddis, Bobbie Slaughter and Delois Phillips; one brother, William Potts; and several nieces and nephews.

Bearers will be Wayne Biggs, Cub Biggs, Melvin Gaddis, DeWayne Potts, Matthew Potts and Chad King. Honorary bearers will be Mitchell Potts, Coleman King, and Auburn King.

ADA — Services for Edna Othelia “Feebie” Nickell, 85, Ada, are 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Criswell Chapel, the Rev. Larry Montgomery officiating. Burial follows at Citra Cemetery.

Mrs. Nickell died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born July 15, 1919, at Holdenville, to Jay Hugh and Clara Yates Vermillion. She came to this area in 1929 from Holdenville. She attended school at Savanna, and retired from Solo Cup Company. She was a member of Francis First Baptist Church.

She married Rennie Mansell Nickell Dec. 7, 1934, at McAlester. He preceded her in death March 23, 1968 in Ada.

Survivors include five sons, Beaty Nickell, Del City; Lloyd Nickell, Hinton; Larry Nickell and wife Joyce, Oklahoma City; Hugh Nickell, Ada; and Lee Nickell and wife Karen, Ada; one daughter, Carolyn Grove, Ada; one sister, Ruth Yarigan, Modesto, Calif.; 24 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Polly McCurley and Callie Matthews.

Bearers are Matthew Phellan, Rex Matthews, Mike Matthews, Bryan Carter, Stephen Nickell and Jay Nickell.

ADA — Services for Jesse Thomas, 72, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Haskell Rycroft officiating. Burial follows at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Mr. Thomas died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at a Norman hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1932, at Chickasha to Lee Andrew and Ida Lou Collins Thomas. He moved to this area in 1997 from Oklahoma City. He was an auto mechanic.

He married Margie Lorene Thomas Nov. 15, 1997, in Ada.

Survivors include his wife, Margie, of the home; eight sons, Billy Ray Thomas, McAlester, Jackie Thomas and wife Sabrina, Arkansas; Jesse Thomas, Wayne; Andrew Thomas, Purcell; Earl Thomas, Wayne; Darrell Thomas and wife Penny, Purcell; Danny Thomas, Wayne and Vacle Thomas and wife Pam, Wayne; two daughters, JoAnn Jones and her husband Benjamin, Connerville; and LaVita Billy and her husband Walter, Davis; two step-sons, Darrell Matthews, North Carolina, and David Matthews and wife Michelle, Ada; two step-daughters, Sandra Sullivan, Ada; and Tammy Jordan, Ada; three sisters, Shirley Rucker, Sulphur; Dorothy Turner, Sulphur; and Nancy Gilbert, Oklahoma City; 26 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Bertha Mae Thomas, on April 10, 1996; two sons, Richard Thomas and Elige Thomas; three brothers and three sisters.

Bearers are Vacle Thomas, Jesse Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Earl Thomas, Darrell Thomas and Danny Thomas.
