Robert Cocke

Rev. Robert Winston Cocke, Jr. of Wilburton, Okla. died Friday, Jan, 16, 2015 at the Veterans Center in Norman at the age of 82.

Robert was born March 25, 1932 in Quinton, Okla. to Robert Winston, Sr. and Virginia (Tirey) Cocke.

Robert graduated from Wilburton High School with the Class of 1950 and joined the U.S. Army.

He served during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart.

On Dec. 20, 1952, Robert married Ann Ferris at the First Methodist Church of Wilburton.

Robert obtained his Local Preachers License in 1949, and following his service in the Army, he was appointed to serve in the Oklahoma Methodist Conference where he served the churches in Earlsboro, Mcloud, El Reno, Perkins, Wetumka, Texhoma and Seminole/Bowlegs.

After retirement he served the Hodgen, Howe and the Rocky Point churches.

While serving these churches he continued his education by attending Oklahoma Baptist University and then transferring to Oklahoma City University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1958.

He then received his Masters of Theology from the Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University in 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Ann of the home; sons, Robert, III and wife, Laura of Norman, John of Tulsa, William and wife, Layne of Wilburton and Charles and wife, Donna of McKinney, Tex.; Grandchildren: Wesley, Ben, Alyse, William Adam, Elizabeth, Bailey, Macey and Jake; Great Grandchildren: CoCo, Lucy, Madeline, Finley, Pierson, CGrey and Gunnar; sister, Anna Doris and husband, Jimmy of Tulsa; nieces, Jaime and Janna and nephew, Jay; and cousin, Ann and husband, Bob and other family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Winston Cocke Sr. and Virginia (Tirey) Cocke.

The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at Jones Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. April Coates officiating.

Interment will follow at the City Cemetery, Wilburton, Okla.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Wesley, Ben, Alyse, William Adam, Elizabeth, Bailey, Macey and Jake.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the 143rd Threadway Bridge Company and the Wilburton Lions Club.

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Harkins Funeral Home, Wilburton, Okla.

Carl Darr

Carl Eugene Darr, 67, lifelong Seminole resident died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Integris Seminole Medical Center.

Carl was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Seminole, Okla. to Lydia Lueetta (Scott) and Amel Paul Darr.

Carl grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1965.

Carl worked for many years at Double Cola Bottling Plant and Wrangler as a truck driver for 14 years.

After he left Wrangler he opened his owned business, Carl’s Rental and Sales in Seminole.

Carl was a member of Old Glory Assembly of God. Carl married Helen Hendricks Darr on April 9, 1965 in Seminole, Okla.

Carl is survived by his wife, Helen Darr of the home in Seminole; Son, Kevin Darr of Seminole and his daughter, Sonya and Hoselton of Seminole, and his six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Louise Harrelson.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Eugene Darr officiating.

Burial followed at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole.

Casket bearers were Kevin Darr, Hayden Darr, Garrett Darr, Bradley Davis, Dakota Factor, Jesse Fisher and Casey Hoselton.

Honorary bearers will be Michael Morgan, Bill Hoskison, Ronnie Lemmings, and Robert.

Don Hadley

Don Clinton Hadley was born on April 1, 1944, in Eagletown, Okla., and departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, in Earlsboro, Okla., at the age of 70.

Don, the son of Norvin and Edna (Dennington) Hadley, was a resident of Earlsboro.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

He married Zelpha Vermell Booker on Aug. 12, 1967, in Antlers, Okla.

He was an educator for 30 years, and worked as a teacher, administrator and/or coach at Guymon, Wynona, Oklahoma City, Strother and Varnum Public Schools.

He was a member and Deacon of Prague Free Will Baptist Church.

Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, being with his family and going to his grandkid’s sporting events.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wendell Hadley, and sister, Guy Eula Pool.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years Zelpha Vermell Hadley of the home; son and daughter-in-law Jon Marc and Amy Hadley of Little; daughters and sons-in-law Teri and Jason Nutt of Paden and Jill and Eric Rawls of Earlsboro; grandchildren Derrek and Jessica Mitchell, Tia Mitchell, Lance Nutt, Timber Nutt, Daison Hadley, Alauna Hadley and Bowdee Nutt; great grandchild Bryson Mitchell; brothers and sisters-in-law Warren and Sue Hadley of Fort Smith and Dale and Betty Hadley of Indiahoma; sister Eleanor Marrs of Shawnee; and a host of other family and friends.

The Hadley family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Free Will Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Randall Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Carlee Harjo

Carlee Lincoln "Jack" Harjo, age 88 and a resident of Konawa, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

There will be an all-night Wake service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa, Okla.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

The processional will leave the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24th at Rock Springs Baptist Church, and Jimsey Harjo will officiate, and Lewis Johnson will assist.

Burial will follow at the Davis Family Cemetery located at 36468 EW 144 in Sasakwa.

The Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers are Carl Lee Harjo, Jr. Terry Allen Harjo, Dale Robin Harjo, David Kevin Harjo, Wayne Shaw, Danny Howell, Norman Hill, Bill Spain, Sr. and Emman Spain.

Jack was born on Jan. 18, 1927 in Vamoosa, Okla. to Edward Harjo and Cynda (Charty) Harjo.

After graduation and attending college, Jack married Frances Pauline Harjo, the love of his life for fifty-three years.

He worked as an aircraft maintenance machinist and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

He proudly served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and in the Korean War.

He is survived by four sons, Carl Lee Harjo of Seminole, Terry Allen Harjo, Dale Robin Harjo, and David Kevin Harjo all of the home; two daughters, LaHoma Harjo of Ada, Okla., and Cecelia Harjo-Howell of Konawa; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cynda Harjo; his wife, Frances Harjo; one son, Jeffrey Lee Harjo; three brothers; and three sisters.

Donald Hinsley

Funeral services for Donald Ray "Big Don" Hinsley were held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Soper Cemetery with Pastor Mike Bryant officiating.

Donald passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 in Hugo, Okla. at the age of 76.

Donald Ray Hinsley was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Hugo, Okla., to Wafford and Nettie Bell (Shaw) Hinsley.

Donald lived in this area all of his life and served his country in the United States Navy.

He was in the VS-37 Anti-Submarine Squadron while serving.

He worked as a truck driver for many years.

Donald was preceded in death by his first spouse: Lois Hinsley, his second spouse: Ruby Hinsley, his children: Sherrie Yevonne Briggs & Patrick Lewis Morphew, his brothers: Cecil, Hoss, Bob, & Virgil, his sisters: Ruth & Diane, four nephews, and four nieces.

He is survived by his daughter: Deborah Spear and of Phoenix, Ariz., his sisters: Opal Hinsley & Delores Hinsley, his three grandchildren, and his five great-grandchildren:.

The family has asked that donations be made to the Freemason’s Children’s Fund.

Susan Hopkins

Susan Marie (Judson) Hopkins, age 48 and a resident of Konawa, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

A wake service is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Okla.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church east of Konawa.

Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate, and burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Judson, Dan Judson, Myles Judson, Reg VanWulfen, Richard Rhodd, and Alvin Tall Bear.

Susan was born on Jan.2, 1967 in Petoskey, Michigan to Anthony Judson and Eleanore (Kubiak) Judson.

She was a high school graduate, a homemaker, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Daryl Rhodd and one daughter, Montana Rhodd, both of the home; three brothers, James Judson of Tulsa, Okla., Michael Judson of Lincoln, Nebr., and Dan Judson of Harrison Township Mich.; two sisters, Karen Sabbro of Grand Raphids, Mich., and Evlynn VanWulfen of Howell, Michigan and mother, Eleanore Judson of Grand Rapids, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Wanda Howarth

Wanda Howarth passed away on Jan. 7, 2015 in Oklahoma City with her devoted husband, Calvin by her side.

She was born Wanda La Rue Nicar on February 23, 1925 in Wetumka, Okla. to Wallace E. and Anna B. (Centell) Nicar.

She was the oldest of her three siblings, Jack, Vada, and Wilma. She graduated from Wetumka High School with perfect attendance and band honors.

She later went to work as a Rosie the Riveter at Douglas Aircraft after high school.

She married Calvin Howarth on May 20, 1944 at First Baptist Church in Wetumka, Okla. The couple had two children James W. and Beverly A. Howarth.

Wanda was a faithful servant of the Lord and worked for many years at First Baptist Church of Holdenville as the Secretary. She then worked for the OSU Extension Office until her retirement in 1992.

Proceeding her in death are her parents, one grandson, siblings Vada Nicar, Jack Nicar and Wilma.

Survivors include her children James Howarth of Tulsa, Beverly Horton of Tulsa, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12th, 2015, at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville, Okla.

Chaplin Mike Murphy will officiate. Pallbearers will be James Howarth, Dr. Kevin Howarth, Matt Duvall, Tyler Horton, Mike Mullen, Harold Rowland, and Tommy Nunn.

Honorary bearers will be the FBC Mary Martha Sunday School Class, Monroe Sumpter, Don Vannoy and Jerry Green.

Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Okla.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the T B Lackey Baptist Village, 9700 Mashburn Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
