James Autry Adams Jr. was born June 10, 1939 in Tyler, Tex., to the late James Adams Sr. and Rebecca Adams.
He passed away Monday, Jan. 5th, 2015 in Holdenville, Okla. at the age of 75 years.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Adams of Sasakwa, OK; children David and wife Anita Adams, Donna Adams Chester and husband David, Debra Adams Gallion and husband Aaron, son Michael James Adams; three brothers Dale Cosby, Buddy Gayle Cosby and wife Storm, Gary Paul Adams and wife Gail; one sister Dorothy Sokoloski. Grandchildren Stephanie, Tasha, Hannah, Matthew, James (Name Sake) Emily, Sarah, Katherine, and Christian; Great-grandchildren Telissa, Four, Tyson, Jackson, Boston, Mason, Elaina, Madelyn, and King. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Special family and best of friends Paul and Pat Jarvis, James Daley, and Billy and Paula Daley, Glenn and Frankie Crowson, Sharon and Bob Naramore.
Preceding James in death are his parents.
James was a retired farmer and rancher, and former owner of Adams and Sons Trucking.
His happiest moments were being on the tractor.
He served four years with the US Navy on the USS Vesuvius, AE 15 and was a member of the American Legion.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Jarvis, David Chester, Aaron Gallion, Specialist James McQuillan, Christian Adams, Matthews Adams and Bradley Bible

Wanda Adams
Wanda Lee (Casey) Adams, 88 year old former Seminole and Paden area resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Eufaula, Okla., to be with our Lord and Savior.
She was born May 13, 1926 in Subico, Ark. to parents, Sollie Bert "Sol" Casey and Anna Jane (Quary) Casey.
On July 25, 1954, Wanda married Clinton Bud Adams in Prague, Okla.
Following Bud’s Honorable discharge from his service in the United States Navy where he had served in WWII, the family made their home in the Prague area where Bud worked in construction, and was a police officer for the Prague Police Department in the 1950’s.
Wanda and Bud both retired from Western Electric with Wanda retiring in 1975.
Wanda was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Paden.
Wanda inherited two passions from her mother, one was cooking for her family and friends and the other was quilting.
Many of her relatives and friends have one or more of her quilts atop their beds. Wanda was a very devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory one son, William F. "Bud" Ross, Jr. of Stidham, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Verna Jean Fipps and her husband Sam of Paden, Oklahoma; one sister, Arletta Hensley and her husband Lynn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Wanda is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents; by her husband of 55 years, Clinton Bud Adams; one son, Freddie Lee Ross; one step-son, Robert Clinton Adams; one grandson, Freddie Lee Ross; one granddaughter, Amanda Ross; two great-granddaughters, Trisha Kay "Katy" Taylor and Leslie Lynn Fipps; by three brothers, Curtis Casey, Jessie Casey and Delmer Casey; by two sisters, Retta Mae Oliver and Imogene Austin.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole, with Jim Eaststep officiating the service.
Visitation will begin on Friday, April 3, 2015.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening.
The casket will remain open until service time and will not be reopened.

Alpha Altstatt
Alpha Pearl Altstatt was born June 15, 1931 in San Jon, N.M. to Charles Emmett Mott and Violet Mitchell Mott and passed from this life on March 30, 2015 in Shawnee at the age of 83.
As an infant, Mrs. Altstatt traveled with her family in a covered wagon from New Mexico to Oklahoma, and settled near the town of Dustin.
She first attended I-32 (now Graham Schools) and later Dustin Schools where she graduated in about 1948.
On June 17, 1951, she was married to Melbourn Altstatt at the Dustin Assembly of God Church.
They made their home in the Dustin area where they farmed and raised cattle. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Following his passing, she relocated to Eufaula to be near family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Scott Chisum, a son-in-law, Marshall Lee Earls; four brothers and three sisters.
She enjoyed croceting and quilting and also made dolls, doll clothes and various other arts and crafts.
Survivors include four daughters, Marilyn Earls of Tex., Alpha Darlene Douthit and husband Steven of Bowlegs, Kathy Jo McDonald and husband Martin of Meeker and Paula Chisum and John West of Eufaula; a brother, Jack Mott of California, and Doris Storts of Henryetta, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great child, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wetumka with Rev. Tim Turner officiating.
Pallbearers will be Melbourn Ray Allen, Jonathan David Allen, Jacob Kee, Steven Douthit, Rudell Fernandez and Chris Hale.
Interment will be in the Dustin Cemetery under the direction under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
Evert Anderson
Evert Edward Anderson, 92, longtime Maud and St. Louis area resident, died, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Seminole Care and Rehab Center. Evert was born Jan. 21, 1923 in St. Louis, Okla. to Sarah Francis (McBroom) and Willie E. Anderson.
Evert grew up in the St. Louis and Maud area and attended school there.
He worked for O’Daniel’s grocery for over 30 years as a butcher and meat market manager.
While working there he enjoyed delivering groceries to families and visiting with them and helping them with anything they needed around their homes.
The family remembers him as a loving man who felt that, " giving back to the community and helping people was more important than money."
The family has fond memories of his love and devotion to each of them, and the fun they had with him.
Evert loved gardening, attending bluegrass festivals, raising chickens, rabbits and building things from scratch.
He literally was a "jack of all trades."
He loved horses and rode with the Maud Roundup Club in parades and events, while he was a member of the club.
He married Lillian (Housdon) Anderson on September 11, 1942 in St. Louis, Okla.
They have been happily married for 72 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Lillian Anderson of Maud, Okla.; his daughter Glenda Terry of Konawa, Okla., his grandchildren Tina Moon of Shawnee, Okla., Kristi Ginn of Catoosa, Okla., Karrie Bailey of Maud, Oklahoma, Lindsey Bailey of Seminole and Ted Bailey of Tex.; nephew Luther Anderson and his wife Earlene of Maud, Okla. and several other nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law; Vera Anderson of Shawnee, Okla. and Gladys Anderson of Asher, Okla.; great and great-great grandkids; Eric and Cortney Powell (Bryar), Britni Ginn, Keisha and Jason Wolf (Lyric and Liberty), Alyssa Lindsay, Kenneth Hernandez, Jr., Lakin Henley, Dax Henley, Tazz McKee, En’vee McKee, Tyler Moon and Jackson Moon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nelda Bailey, grandson, Steve Moon, son-in-law, Jack Terry, and grand son-in-law, Rex Ginn.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Evert Anderson
Evert Edward Anderson, 92, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Seminole, Okla.
He was born Jan 21, 1923 in St. Louis, Okla., to parents, Willie and Sarah Anderson.
Services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Melvin Anderson
Dr. Melvin S. Anderson, 103, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 in Ardmore, Okla.
Melvin was born Aug. 26, 1911 near Blair, Okla.
He was the fourth of ten children, of Sid and Cora (T’Lola) Anderson.
Melvin graduated from Martha High School, Martha, Oklahoma in 1930; He attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, Okla. and received his BS degree in 1935, and took his first teaching position at Dwight Mission, an Indian boarding school run by the Presbyterian Church, in the Cookson Hills, near Sallisaw, Okla.
He returned to Oklahoma A & M, in 1937 to obtain his master’s degree, which he received in 1938.
He married Helen Morrison of Wetumka, Okla. during his Master’s study and received his first teaching job at Taylor school, in Bowlegs, Okla. as Principal.
He taught in the public school system for seven years.
After his tenure at Bowlegs, he was employed selling insurance and real estate in Wewoka, Okla.
In 1958 he taught at Emporia, Kans., and while there he took a leave of absence to earn his doctorate in education administration in 1963.
In 1967 he began teaching at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz., retiring in 1976.
From there he and Helen moved to Sapulpa, Okla. where she died in 1981.
Two years later he married Bonita Holt Newport, a teacher at New Lima School, he then moved to Seminole in 1983.
Melvin was a longtime member of the Bowlegs Methodist Church.
Those who knew him best appreciated his gentle humor and willingness to help those in need.
Melvin’s hobbies were building, oil painting, hand loom, weaving, he built or helped to build five houses as personal residence.
He also contracted and built one house for a third party.
He loved sports and while in school, he played basketball, baseball, and tennis.
He was captain of the team in high school that went to the state tournaments in Oklahoma City in 1930.
The team won five tournaments.
Melvin is survived by his wife Bonita Anderson of Ardmore, Okla., his son Sewell Sidney Anderson and his wife Judy of Eureka, Calif., and daughter Melrita Davis Foster and her husband George of Park Hill, Okla., step son, Glenn Newport and his wife June of Pine Bluff, Ark. and step daughter, Cathy Marshall and her husband Gary of Gordonville, Tex., grandchildren; Neil Anderson and his wife Tracey of Olathe, Kans., Sharla Anderson Ortogero-Ewa, Hi. David Anderson, Dr. Helen Kathleen Foster Elliott and her husband Brian of Broken Arrow, Okla., Commander Calvin Morgan Foster and his wife Nicole of Crofton, Maryland, Dr. Tol Anderson Foster of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, great grandchildren; Joshua and Avery Elliott, David, Trenton, Elizabeth and Caleb Foster, Morgan and Madeline Anderson, Christian and Aaron Ortogero, Mr. Anderson’s sister Ruby Anderson Cates of Visalia, Calif. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife Helen, a grandchild Rhanda Susan Foster in 1991.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, at 7th and Chestnut, Bristow, Okla., with Rev. Katie Hill officiating.
Burial will follow at Bristow Cemetery.
Visitations will be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday, March 5th and 6th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at the First United Methodist Church in Bristow, Okla. beginning at 11:00 a.m.. Saturday, March 7, 2015.
