Jane Cox Buchanan, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many passed away peacefully to her true heavenly home on April 22, 2015.
Jane, a 32 year breast cancer survivor, fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith through out her life.
Jane was born the 12th of February, 1936 in Wewoka, Okla.
Jane married her devoted husband James Buchanan, and they settled in Wichita, Kans., where they opened James Buchanan Associates.
Jane worked alongside her husband in the insurance business until retirement.
Jane was greatly involved in her church and always graciously opened up her home for Bible studies and church gatherings.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her daughters, Sydney Buchanan Dickie and Shana Buchanan Wood, and was affectionately known as "Gammy" to her six grandchildren.
Upon retiring, Jane and James moved to Houston, Tex.
They became very involved at Second Baptist Church where they developed many wonderful friends.
She was known to all as a devoted prayer warrior and always saw the best in every situation; even with terminal cancer she was always a good and faithful servant.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Lowell Buchanan, her two daughters, Sydney (Roy) Dickie and Shana (Jeff) Wood, as well as her grandchildren, Jordan, Chase and Samuel Dickie and Jeffrey, Elizabeth, and Connor Wood, all of whom she loved and adored.
Jane’s brothers, Joe (Dorothy) and Johnny (Carolyn) Cox, as well as many nephews and a niece survive her.
Jane’s parents, Mabel and Carl, as well as her brother, Jimmy, and sister, Joann Cox, precede her in death.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Hankamer Chapel at Second Baptist in Houston, Tex.
A family graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, Okla.

James Burkey
James Edward Burkey, 80, longtime Seminole resident died, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at Shawnee, Okla.
James was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Minco, Okla. to Beatrice Josephine (Slover) and Ralph Oren Burkey. James moved to Seminole in 1972.
James grew up on a farm in Pocasset, Okla. and attended schools there.
He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in forestry in 1961.
After his graduation, James moved to Chickasha, Okla., and took a temporary job with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission with the State of Oklahoma, the temporary job led him to a 27 year career with commission retiring in 1988 as a field director; he had worked in several towns all throughout the state before his retirement.
James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole, Okla., he loved to fish and raise vegetables in his garden and be with his grandchildren.
James served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958.
He was a master mason and a member of the masonic lodge in Pocasset, Okla. where he recently received his 50 year pin.
James married Mary Jane (Greene) Burkey at the Danville Methodist Church in Kilgore, Tex. on Sep. 5, 1958.
James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Mary Jane Burkey of Seminole, his son James David Burkey of Pocasset, Okla., his daughter Patricia Leigh Centracco and her husband Bret of Prague, Czech Republic, two brothers Jerry Burkey and his wife Anita of Fletcher, Okla. and Joe Burkey of El Reno, Okla., his grandchildren David Oren Burkey, Hannah Burkey, Caleb Briton Centracco and Peyton Scott Centracco and many nieces and nephews and a host of other family members.
James was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Burkey, Mother Beatrice Burkey, his daughter Cheryl Anne Burkey in 1982.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday Feb. 7, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Honorary Bearers will be Ollie Adams, Fred Basler, Kerry Baker, Clarke Bake, Curtis Lemmings and Donnie Williams.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital or to the Charity of your choice.

Jerald Carney
Jerald R. Carney, 63, longtime Seminole resident died, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Holdenville, Okla.
Jerald was born March 25, 1951 in Talihina, Okla. to Carrie Mae (Stallaby) and Pete Folsom Carney.
Jerald worked as a fork lift operator and in maintenance, at Wrangler for many years, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of the Indian Nation Baptist Church in Seminole, Okla.
Jerald is survived by three sons; Doug Carney at Broken Bow, Okla., Peter Carney of Killeen, Texas and Melvin Carney of Eagletown, Okla., two daughters RaJohnia John of Wright City, Okla. and Pamela Carney of Eagletown, Okla., one brother George Carney of Seminole, Okla. and one sister Yolanda Ross of Prague, Okla. and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Jerald Carney, Jr.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Friday March 6, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors. Rev. Bill Barnett and Lewis Johnson will officiate at the service and burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.
Casket bearers will be Melvin Carney, James Carney, Doug Carney, Michael Maben, Pete Carney and Dewayne John: Honorary bearers will be RaJohnia John and Pamela Carney.

Johnny Chesser
Johnny Lee Chesser entered this life on January 20, 1948.
He entered his heavenly home with Jesus Christ on March 9, 2015.
He was born to the late Eddie and Marie (Wagoner) Chesser.
Johnny married Lillian Lee on Feb. 14, 1989, and to this union three children were born.
Johnny served in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict.
He was a graduate of New Lima Schools and later received a Bachelor's degree.
He was Pastor of House of Prayer, Wewoka.
Preceding Johnny in death are his parents and nephew Robert Brinsfield II.
Survivors include his wife Lillian of the home, children Keith Andrew Chesser of Sasakwa, Okla., Linda Ruth Wilson of Norman, Okla., Michael Edward James and companion Heather Sharp of Jet, Okla..; sisters: Wanda and husband Bob Brinsfield of London Arkansas, Betty and Dan Wagner of Fla., 16 grandchildren, eight, great grandchildren: and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2015 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with Pastors Bill and Larry Chesser officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Gregory Cartwright, Jordan Willson, Jared Wilson, Traevon Wilson, Brent Stone, and Tyler Chesser.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dave Anderson, Jerry Wortman, Wayne McCray, Bill Burns and Lance Farber.

Ina Childress
Ina Faye (Douthit) Childress, 97, longtime Bowlegs, Oklahoma, resident, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Chickasha, Okla.
Ina was born Jan. 14, 1918 in Heavner, Okla. to Lottie Mae ( Simmon) and James Lloyd Douthit.
Ina was the 2nd of eight children and they grew up in the plant 13 area, south of Seminole, Okla.
The "Douthit boys" were avid baseball players, and Ina would go in and play for them, when one of the boys had to sit out, she could play with the best of the area boys.
Ina was a homemaker and a very dedicated member of the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church.
She married Tom T. Childress on March 13, 1937 and they made their home in Phillips, Tex. for many years until in 1958 they moved back to Bowlegs, Okla., he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1977.
She is survived by her five children; Opal Nadine Stroud and her husband Darrel of Salina, Okla., Rex Lloyd Childress of Lindsay, Okla., Wanda Maxine Ladd of Chickasha, Okla., Wilma Jean Martens and her husband Lawny of Enid, Okla. and Linda Kay Pewitt and her husband Don of Prague, Okla.; eight grandchildren Tom and Lori Stroud, Michael Ladd, David and Mark Pitts, Neil Martens, Jerry and Donna Pewitt.
Great grandchildren Maxwell, Wyatt, Kelsie, Kiersten, Allie, Hunter, Hayden, Alexis, Kaylee, Audry and two great- great grandchildren Lindy and Lila.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Truman, Herman, John, Riley and Don Douthit, two sisters, Eddie and Bea Webb.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m.., Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Wolf Cemetery.
Connie Choate
Connie Sue Choate, 81, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, March 2, 2015.
She was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Wewoka, Okla., to the late Harry and Billy Coughlan.
She loved her lord and savior and attended Haven Heights Baptist Church when she was able.
She was a former housekeeper at Sparks Regional Medical Center and loved to dance and make fudge.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Evans.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Connie is survived by her sister, Billie Trosper of Alma; her daughter, Cyndi Miller of Fort Smith; two sons, Larry Evans and Mark Evans, both of Fort Smith; her sister, Laura Rowe of Ontario, Canada; as well as 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Larry Evans, Troy Miller, Marcus and Kirk Evans and Brandon Ming.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
