Hazel Fowler

Hazel Marie Fowler, long time Seminole resident passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Wichita Falls, Tex. at the age of 94.

Hazel was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Boswell, Okla. to parents, Doc Gillespie and Ruby (Barker) Gillespie.

Hazel lived in Seminole, Okla. for 47 years.

She worked as a cook and nurse's aide at nursing homes and worked in farming at their home.

Hazel was married to Roy Fowler on June 11, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Tex.

She was a member of the Church of God of Seminole.

Hazel is survived by one daughter, Mary Gambill of Iowa Park, Texas and one son, Freddie Fowler of Wichita, Falls, Tex., a brother Richard Gillespie of Eufaula, Okla., a sister Mary Fisher of Tex., twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla., with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Hazel Fowler

Hazel Marie Fowler, long time Seminole resident passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Wichita Falls, Tex, at the age of 95.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla.

Robert Gist

Robert Lee Gist, Jr., a Shawnee, Okla. resident, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his home in Shawnee at the age of 59.

Robert was born June 14, 1955 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to parents, Robert Lee Gist, Sr. and Lucille (Evans) Gist.

Robert moved from Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was a resident of Pottawatomie County for about 15 years.

He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, he loved to read his Bible and was a very Godly man who believed in worshipping everyday and he loved to laugh.

Robert washed dishes and did prep work at Amigos and the Cracker Barrel.

Robert married Tammy (Garner) Gist at Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee on Feb. 14, 2000.

Robert is survived by his wife Tammy of the home; mother, Lucille Gist; three daughters, Sherry Gist and husband, Victor Garner of Crossville, Alabama, Candace Gist of Crossville, Alabama and step-daughter, Cassie McCullough of Shawnee, Okla. and step-son, Randy McCullough of Shawnee, Okla.; one brother, Rickey Gist of Seminole, Okla. and one sister, Becky Inman of Seminole, Okla. and six grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Gist Sr.; one daughter, Patricia Dawn Gist and one brother, Randy Gist.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Little Cemetery with Brother Phil Thompson officiating.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.

Robert Gist

Robert L. Gist, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his home in Shawnee, Okla. at the age of 59. Robert was born June 14, 1955.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Little Cemetery, located north of Seminole, Okla.

Services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.

Sharron Gladden

Sharron Lee (Butler) Gladden, age 67 and a life-long resident of Konawa, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Burial will follow at Konawa City Cemetery, and Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church of Konawa will officiate.

Pallbearers are Barry Streetman, Devin Gladden, Terry Bicknell, Zac Decker, Jim Sharp, and Rick Howsmon.

Sharron was born on June 1, 1947 in Ada, Okla. to Wilma (Crenshaw) and David H. Butler. She was a Konawa High School graduate and a member of Cross Timbers Church.

She lived most of her life in Konawa and married Charles Gladden in 1969.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Gladden of the home; her mother, Wilma Lamb of Konawa; one son, John Gladden and wife, Melinda of Vidalia, Georgia; two brothers, Bob Butler of Coffee City, Tex. and Dwight Butler and wife, Sherry of McLoud, Okla.; two sisters, Donna Walker and husband, Tom of Konawa, and Teresa Miley and husband, Gary from Texas; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, David H. Butler; one son, Joey Gladden; one sister, Carolyn Watts; and Step-father, Walter Lamb.

Summer Gokey

Summer Dey Gokey, 30 year old Seminole resident passed from this life on Friday, March 20, 2015 in Seminole, Okla.

She was born June 25, 1984 in Claremore, Okla. to parents, Darrell Martin Gokey and Carolyn Dee (Wood) Gokey.

Summer worked at the Best Western Hotel in Seminole as a housekeeper.

She was also a member of Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, Oklahoma.

Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Yarbrough of Seminole, Okla.; one daughter, Nacaiah Armaru Gokey of Seminole, Okla.; five brothers, Darrell M. Gokey, Jr. of Shawnee, Okla., Aries Gokey of Seminole, Okla.; Damion Gokey of Seminole, Okla., Delrey Gokey of Pryor, Okla., Tyrone Gokey of Oklahoma City; seven sisters, Latosha Gokey of Dallas, Tex., Cassandra Knox of Shawnee, Okla., Dariel Gokey of Shawnee, Okla., Dina Harjo of Shawnee, Okla., Rosetta Garcia of Chandler, Okla., Deanna Gokey of Edmond, Okla., Rose Cervontes of Florida; grandfather, Matthew Wood of Seminole, Okla.; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Summer was preceded in death by her father, Darrell M. Gokey Sr.

A wake service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., March 24, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Noon, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Sac & Fox Community Center in Stroud, Oklahoma with Rev. Kevin Fox and Rev. Ed George will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at the Sac & Fox Nation Cemetery in Stroud.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Cozetta Gordon

Cozetta Alice (Brewer) Gordon, 82, lifelong Seminole county resident, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 82.

Cozetta was born Aug. 16, 1932 in Elwood Community that was west of Wewoka, Okla. to parents, Monroe Raymond Brewer and Bessie Carrie (Randolph) Brewer.

Cozetta married Eldridge Gordon, Sr. on Feb. 17, 1951 in Wewoka, Okla. Cozetta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lima, Okla.

She earned her Masters Degree in Education and an Administrative Degree at East Central University of Ada, Okla. Cozetta was an Elementary teacher and Principal, a member of the Florence Johnson Order of Eastern Star, Oklahoma Teachers Retirement Association, and the Creek Landmark District Association.

Cozetta is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eldridge Gordon, Sr. of Lima, Okla.; three sons, Eldridge Gordon, Jr. of Moore, Okla., Monroe Bernard Gordon of Del City, Okla. and Mark Anthony Gordon of Houston, Tex.; one sister Mattie Mae Clay of Oklahoma City, Okla..

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla. with Rev. Cooper officiating.

Burial will take place at Lima Cemetery, Lima, Okla.

Serving as pallbearers are: Robert Turner, Derrick Jordan, Trai Jordan, Eugene Scott, Shawn Louie and Kevin Posey. Honorary pallbearers are: Eldridge Gordon, III, James Gordon, Gregory Clay, Marvin Keesee and James Hubbard.

Ushers will be Todd Goss, Carolyn Jones, James Jackson, Tonya McIntosh, Heather Jackson, and Treasha Goss. The Order of Eastern Star-Chapter Six will serve as flower girls.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Okla.

Mark Hannah

Seminole resident, Mark James Hannah, Sr., passed away Feb. 24, 2015 at his home in Seminole.

He was born March 13, 1958 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Gerald James and Nancy Carol (Arnold) Hannah. Mark moved from Arizona to Seminole two years ago.

Mark leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Gerald and Nancy Hannah of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Mark Hannah of Seminole, Okla.; one daughter, Charlene Hannah of Seminole, Okla.; one brother, Tom Hannah of Calif.; four sisters, Lori Parker of Phoenix, Ariz., Faith Martin of Phoenix, Ariz., Lisa Hannah of Las Vegas, Nev. and Suzanne Hannah of Paulden, Ariz.; four grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Blanche Arnold and Elizabeth Hannah, grandfather, Clyde Arnold and one granddaughter, Serenity Hannah.

A private family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Angel Harjo

Angel Rachelle Harjo, 23, lifelong Seminole County resident. Angel was born March 5, 1992 in Oklahoma City.

Angel attended and graduated from Strothers High School and she was a member of North Rock Creek Baptist Church in Shawnee, Okla.

Angel is survived by her mother Pamela D’Ann Underwood of Konawa, father Raymond Harjo, Sr., one brother Raymond Harjo, Jr. of Seminole, Okla., five sisters Angelina Yahola, Stephanie Yahola and Eliza Harjo all of Seminole, Wythema Porras of Shawnee, Okla. and Stephanie Harjo of Bowlegs, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Nagie Underwood and Tecumseh Harjo and Mary Jane and Johnson Harjo.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at the Underwood/Harjo Family cemetery east of Little, with Abraham Jackson and Ted Underwood officiating.

Angel will be taken to the Seminole Nation Community Center, east of Strothers School, where there will be a wake service on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Casket Bearers will be Honece Pipestem, Cha-Chio Pipestem, William Pipestem, Ronnie Harjo, Christopher Pipestem, and Curtis Gentry. Honorary bearers will be Johnathan Walker, Travis Hunter, Sonny White Buffalo, Jerome Isham, John Underwood and Nathan Harjo.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Ellouise Harjo

Ellouise Harjo, age 75 years of Ada, Okla. passed departed this life Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Ada, Okla.

Born July 12, 1939 to John Harjo and Katie Mae Davis in Talihina, Okla.

She attended Eufaula Boarding School.

She was a member of Nurcup Harjo Band.

Preceding her in death are her parents, daughter Regina Sue Bounds, son Jerald Wayne Harjo.

Survivors include son Johnnie Ray Harjo, Tonkawa, Okla.; son Sebastion of Ada, OK, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wake service was held 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Spring Baptist Church, Sasakwa, Okla. with Rev. Leon Postoak officiating and burial to follow Spring Baptist Church.
