Wewoka resident John David Starr, age 26 passed away Thursday, Feb. 19th, 2015 in Seminole, Okla.
Born July 14, 1988 in Ada, Okla. to Jimmy Armstrong and LaQuita Starr.
John was a graduate of Sasakwa High School and a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.
He was a nurse at McCalls Chapel in Ada, Okla.
He enjoyed drawing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Preceding John in death are his grandparents Daniel Starr, Joe and Louise Billie, Vivian Bender and Lillian Spencer and three uncles.
Survivors include his parents Jimmy Armstrong Jr. and wife Lisa Barnes of Seminole, Okla. and LaQuita Starr and Wallace Cully of Konawa, Okla.; grandfather Jimmy Armstrong Sr. of Tecumseh, Okla.; grandmother Nell Starr of Wewoka, Okla.: siblings Matthew Armstrong, of Wewoka, Okla., Kristina Armstrong of Oklahoma City; step-sisters Andrea Hernandez, Rosana Deere, Josie Albertson; step-brother Robert Culley, his companion Jennifer Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pall bearers will be Josiah Harjo, John Harjo, Curtlon Penoskee, Elijah Penoskee, James Fulks, and Big Foot.
Honorary Pall bearers will be Matthew Armstrong, MIchael Starr, Robert Culley, and Jonas Carpitcher.
Wake services will be 6:00 PM Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.
The body will be taken to Sand Creek Eufaula at 4:00 PM Monday for a 7:30 p.m. Wake Service with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2015 at Sand Creek Eufaula with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Mitchell Taylor, burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Otis Starrett
Otis Deloin Starrett, 84, formerly of Sallisaw, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in Oklahoma City.
He was an oil field worker and a Pentecostal.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Agent Mallory-Martin Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Helen Butz of Fellows, Calif., and Phyllis Logan of Seminole, Okla.; three sisters, Ruthie Montgomery of Hominy, Okla., Bonnie Taylor of Tenkiller Lake, Okla., and Edna Dodson of Sallisaw; two brothers, Andrew Mathis of Sallisaw, and Frank Moreland of Blackwell, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home
Susan Stinnett
Susan Kay Stinnett, aged 72, of Konawa, Okla. and formerly of Hampshire, Tenn., passed away at her home on Monday, April 13, 2015 after a year and a half long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Stinnett was born on May 28, 1942 in Lincoln, Nebraska to John Z. and Ida Speed Treanor.
Sue graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1960, and attended Moody Bible College in Chicago for three years before returning to Lincoln to attend and work for the University of Nebraska.
She began singing on the Back to the Bible Broadcast when she was a young girl, and music continued to be a major part of her life.
Sue moved to Oklahoma City in 1966 to live with her sister Sally, and there met Harmon Stinnett, her husband of 47 years.
They married on Nov. 4, 1967, in Oklahoma City.
Sue spent her life as a homemaker and mother to two children Danny Stinnett of Hampshire, and Ellen Herriman of Konawa, and as an "adoptive" mother to many of her childrens' friends.
She worked as a teacher's aide at Hampshire Unit School for 10 years, and later worked as a teller at BancFirst in Konawa.
She is remembered by her family as a loving mother, sister, grandma, and aunt.
Sue never met a stranger, and all remember her for her outgoing and loving personality, her sense of humor, her beautiful voice, and her love for her Lord.
She is survived by her husband, Harmon Stinnett, of the home, son and daughter-in-law Danny and Kelly Stinnett of Hampshire, Tenn., daughter and son-in-law Ellen Herriman and Henry Keiner of Konawa, Okla., granddaughter Samantha Bays and husband Kyle of Summertown, Tenn., grandson David Herriman and former son-in-law Dave Herriman of Konawa, Okla., sister and brother-in-law Sally and Elmer Kliewer of Oklahoma City, Okla, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John Z. and Ida Treanor.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Grace Community Church in Vamoosa, Okla., officiated by Pastor Drew Isaacs and Rev. Darrell Stinnett.
Time of the service is pending.
George Stone
George Herbert "Herbie" Stone, 71 of Charleston, W. VA went to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2015.
He was born Sept. 12, 1943 in Slippery Rock, Pa. to the late George Stone Sr. and Roxie Jones Stone Davis.
He is preceded in death by, wife Sandra Maston Stone of 40 years; stepfather Robert Davis; and brothers Roger, Tommy, Roy Stone and Randy Davis.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Donna Stone; daughters Teresa (David) Sheppard and Pamela Stone of Oklahoma; sisters Sandy (George) Burns, Iris Stone (sister-in-law); brothers Frankie, Terry (Anne) Stone, Clinton (Joyce) Stone and Phil (Judy) Ball; grandchildren Kasey Sheppard, Chris Stone, Joey Devivo, Sabrina Mayabb, Vincent Mayabb; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 stepsons and 2 step grandchildren.
A celebration of Herbie’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23rd, at Elk Funeral Home Charleston, W. VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of choice.
Helen Stroup
Helen Louise (Sherrill) Stroup, passed away April 4, 2015 at Heritage Village Retirement Center in Holdenville, Okla.
She was born March 14, 1922 in Pittsburg, Okla. to Albert Roscoe Sherrill and Rosalie (Watkins) Sherrill.
At the age of 3, her father died of pneumonia leaving Helen’s mother to raise a small child by herself.
On Oct. 20, 1927 her mother, Rosalie Sherrill, married Claud Troop, whom she loving called Daddy Claud.
On Oct. 20, 1942 Helen and Lyall Stroup were married at midnight in the home of Albert and Sadie Russell in Wewoka, Okla.
The marriage was officiated by Rev. T. Grady Nanney pastor of the Baptist Church in Wewoka.
She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Wewoka where she had been secretary twice before purchasing the Wewoka Credit Bureau in 1969.
She and her husband owned and operated Park-In, (old Green Spray) before Lyall retired in 1985.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Lyall Dwight Stroup, who died June 5, 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Pitts of Seminole, Okla. and son Lyall "Rusty" Dwight Stroup II, of Wewoka, Okla.
She is also survived by her granddaughter, Renee Wilson and Mike Wilson, great-grandson Matthew Wilson and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Wilson, all of Chickasha, Okla, her sister Claudine Mayberry and brother-in-law Tim Mayberry from Indian Trail, S.C.
Other survivors include her three nieces Donna Jones-Sudol of Wichita Falls, Tex., Stephanie Martin of Charlotte, N.C. and Tracey Elders of Rock Hill, S.C.; and four nephews Cory Stroup, Hernando, Fla.; Ray W. Brooks Jr., Pearland, Tex., Robert "Skipper" Brooks, of Angleton, Tex. and Bret Mayberry of Charlotte, N.C.
She was very proud of her Chickasaw heritage, being the great-great-granddaughter of Elizabeth "Betsy" (Love) Allen, whom played a formative role in establishing the principle that married women could own their own property and that it could not be seized by their husbands or their husbands' creditors.

Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday April 10, 2015 at Stout Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka, Okla.
Rev. Susan Rice, pastor of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Wilson, Timothy McNaughton, Keith Claybrook, Randy Tingwald, Mark Barnhart, Greg Arbuckle and Bruce Wilkerson.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Wewoka.
Alpha Swearingen
Alpha B. Swearingen, 91, longtime Seminole resident died, Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 in Shawnee, Okla.
Alpha was born on Nov.9, 1923 in Headrick, Okla. to Minnie B. (Jones) and Dee O. Chambers.
Alpha grew up in the Bethany, Okla. area and attended schools there.
Alpha was the City Clerk and City Treasurer for many years for the City of Seminole, before her retirement.
She had previously worked for her husband’s C.P.A. firm (David L. Swearingen) and legal secretary for Bishop and Wantland, Law Firm.
Alpha was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole and voter inspector for the Seminole County Election Board.
Alpha loved golf, playing bridge, horse racing and going to Las Vegas.
Alpha married David L. Swearingen on Feb. 24, 1944, in Oklahoma City, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1967.
Alpha is survived by her three sons; David Swearingen and his wife Linda Beth of Pensacola Beach, Fla., Toby Swearingen and his wife Kellye of Seminole, Okla. and Tom Swearingen and his wife Esperanza of Shawnee, Okla.; two daughters Nancy Villines and her husband John of Seminole, Okla. and Linda Swearingen of Seminole, Okla., great-grandsons, Finneas and Drake Mitchell.
She is also survived by a brother Jesse Chambers and his wife Ramona of Bethany, Okla. and a sister Doris Simpson of Bethany, Okla.; her grandchildren Mathew Sean Villines of Seminole, Okla., Oswald Mitchell and his wife Amber of Shawnee, Okla., Justin Mitchell of Oklahoma City, Jacob Swearingen of Seminole, Okla. and Alea Swearingen of Seminole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, sister Helen Young, grandson David Sean Swearingen, on May 9, 1982 and her longtime special companion Leonard Saffa in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla. and burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Casket Bearers will be Mathew Villines, Dwayne Goodnight, Jacob Swearingen, Oz Mitchell, Justin Mitchell and Dean Simpson.
The family request memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Walter Taff
Walter Lee Taff, 76, longtime Maud, Okla. resident, entered this life on July 11, 1938 and entered eternal life on Feb. 27, 2015.
Walter was born in Harjo, Oklahoma, northwest of Maud, to Chrisa Lee (Wise) and O.O. "Bud" Taff.
As a child, Walter lived in California, but spent the majority of his life in and around the Maud, Okla. area.
Walter graduated from Harjo High School, and then spent three years serving in the U.S. Army, in the 501st infantry, as a paratrooper.
Walter retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1993 as a jet mechanic.
After retirement he went to work in law enforcement for the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department as a transport officer and deputy.
Walter married Erma June (Bussey) on Sept. 18, 1964 in Maud, Okla. and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Walter is survived by his wife Erma Taff of Maud, Oklahoma, his daughters Kelley Azlin of Maud, Okla.and Casey Stackhouse and her husband Eddie of Maud, Okla., one brother and sister-in-law Jimm and Betty Taff of Maud, and one sister Linda Garner of Maud, Okla.
He is also survived by two step-sisters, one step brother, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin Taff, and daughter Donna Lynette Taff.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Okla., with Rev. Butch Bradley officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the U. S. Army.
