Chayton Thomas

Baby boy Chayton Kaine Thomas was born and passed away March 8th, 2015 at Seminole Medical Center in Seminole, Okla.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Stan Smith officiating.

Survivors are his parents Allison Frazier of Wewoka and Conchattee Kaine Thomas of Bowlegs, Maternal grandparents; Mysti Splawn of Wewoka, great grandparents; Sue Jimboy of Konawa, Betty Frazier of Latta, maternal great great grandmother Norma Splawn of Oklahoma City, Paternal grandparents; Starlite Christie of Bowlegs, paternal great grandparents; Darlene and Bill Satepauhoodle of Bowlegs and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by great grandfathers; Paul (P.D.) Splawn and Jeff Frazier and grandfather Abel Thomas.

Linda Thomas

Linda Diane Thomas, 66, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 in Oklahoma City.

Linda was born June 4, 1948 in Barstow, Calif. to Dorothy Lorene (Cleveland) and Ernest Eugene O’Bryant.

Linda was a homemaker and had also worked in several area restaurants during her life such as Herman’s Pig Stand, The Harvest House and The Hamburger Hangout.

She also was former owner of the Townhouse Restaurant and Nita’s Café in Seminole.

Linda attended the First Assembly of God in Seminole.

She married Doyle Ray "Joe" Thomas on Oct. 30, 1972 in Oklahoma City, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2003.

Linda is survived by her son Danny Thomas of Navasota, Texas, her two daughters Kim Brauning of Seminole and Audra Young, all of Seminole, her five grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle O. Long officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Brian Jolly, Darus Mills, Scott Rossman, Patrick Austin, Dathan Thomas and Curtis Young.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Margy Trujillo

Margy Nell Trujillo, age 84, of Wewoka departed this life Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at her home in Wewoka.

Born Nov. 29th, 1930 in Nowata, Okla. to the late Harley and Tabitha (Wheeler) Gallop.

She moved to Wewoka in 1946 from Nowata, Okla. and graduated from Wewoka high school in 1948.

She married Jacob Trujillo August 1970 in Texas, he preceded her in death November 1995

Margy was a member of First Baptist Church.

She loved to sew and crochet.

Preceding Margy in death are her parents, brothers William Marshall Gallop and Carol Gene Gallop.

Survivors include daughter Denette Kay Van Hemert, of Bakersfield, Calif. and son Donald Dale Branum Jr. of Orange Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Christopher Timbreza and wife Seta, of Brush Prarie, Wash.; Casondra Barker and husband Leigh, of Wichita, Kans., Mailee Harrell and husband Caleb, of El Paso, Tex., and Brittany Trader of Maylen, Ala.; great-grandchildren Lauren and Caleb of Brush Prarie, Wash., and Cassidy and Dannikah of Wichita, Kans. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Baker of First Baptist Church Wewoka officiating, and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Lottie Uptegraft

Lottie Jean Uptegraft passed away Friday, Jan. 2nd, 2015 in Holdenville at the age of 101 years.

Jean was born Dec. 13th, 1913, at Buffalo Springs, Tex. to Lee and Cassie (Carter) Brooks.

She attended George Town Texas Public Schools and later married Dalton "Nip" Uptegraft and they made their home in Wewoka.

Jean worked many years as a Bookkeeper for Morgan Ford and Matheny Ford in Wewoka.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five siblings.

She is survived by her children; Darryl Uptegraft of Wewoka, Sharon Collier of Burleson Tex., three grandchildren; five great and two great great grandchildren.

Graveside service was 1:00 p.m. Monday Jan. 5, 2015 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Blanche Vanlandingham

Blanche Leona Browning – Vanlandingham, age 88, passed away Feb. 7, 2015 at NHC Hillview in Columbia, Tenn.

Blanche was born June 30, 1926 in Bowlegs, Okla. to the late Claude V. Vanlandingham and the late Minnie Annette Self.

She was married to Eugene Browning for many years before being widowed in 1989.

Blanche was a hard worker and put a lot of time into working for General Motors in Oklahoma City.

You could often find Blanche in outdoors.

She always had a great appreciation for nature.

Every year spring there would be a new bud that she had nurtured.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures like going fishing or having her morning coffee on the porch.

But, she loved most of all spending time with her family.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Blanche is survived by: her daughters: Claudia (Gary) Cantrell and Carla (Manuel) Janette Andonegui; grand sons: Austin Chase Riley Andonegui and Sean (Korie) Cantrell; and great grand children: Landon Chase Cantrell and Callie Rose Cantrell; and brother: Louis Vanlandingham.

The family received friends on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. one hour prior to service time at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, services were held at 11:00 a.m.

James Vaughan

James Charles "Charlie" Vaughan was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Seminole, Okla., to Houston and Clara (Gilliam) Vaughan. He crossed over into glory April 12, 2015, at the age of 71.

After growing up in Erik, Okla., and Springdale, he served three years in the Army during the Berlin crisis.

He started working in the timber and wood products industry in Waldron.

This is also where he met his wife of 48 years, Patsy Harris.

This started a career that spanned more than 30 years until he retired as the vice president of procurement for Kansas City Southern railroad in 1995.

Upon retirement, he was a member of the Waldron City Council, followed by four terms as the Scott County judge.

His love for horses was also evident throughout his life as he raised, trained and raced quarter horses for himself and others for many years.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Patsy of Waldron; two sons, Will and his wife Kristy of Lavaca and Charles Allen and his wife Tami of Lindale, Texas; daughter, Savanna of Waldron; and six grandchildren, Reece, Madison, Darby, Kylee, Brooks and Sadie. He is also survived by one brother, John Sarratt and Tammy of Goodman, Mo.; and two sisters, Gloria Forbes and Burl of Skiatook, Okla., and Cricket Ginnett and Doug of Neosho, Mo.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Waldron with the Rev. Ken Overturf and Bro. Rickey Hunt officiating. There will be a private burial prior to the memorial service under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Cagle, Jeff Gilbert, Bill Wagner, Jerry Davenport, K.J. Johnson, Gary Plummer and Reece Vaughan. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Keener, Bob Edwards, Ronnie Johnson and the Scott County Road Crew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Charlie’s name to the Scott County Boys and Girls Club at P.O. Box 1013, Waldron, AR 72958; or to First Baptist Church in Waldron at P.O. Box 247, Waldron, AR 72958.

Darrel Veach

Darrel Wayne Veach of Bowlegs, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home.

He was born on July 24, 1943 in Shawnee to Erin Veach and Bessie (Hendricks) Veach.

Darrel attended school at Varnum Public School and later went to work in the Oilfield, where he worked for many years.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents; Erin and Bessie Veach, his sister; Barbara Smith, and his brothers; Harold Veach and Larry Veach.

He is survived by his wife; Joan (Webb) Veach of the home, his children; Darrel Veach of Seminole, Lynn Hughes of Clinton, Mississippi, and Regina Allen of Prue, his grand children; Kathy, B.J., Joshua, Shawn, Curtis, Rebecca and Sara, and 10 great grand children, his brothers; James Veach of Choctaw, Aaron Veach of Wewoka, and Albert Veach of Bartlesville, and a sister; Evelyn Hadley of Bartlesville, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Little Cemetery with Pastor Larry Chesser and Pastor Toni Chesser officiating.

Pall Bearers will be Shawn Allen, Albert Veach, Joe Barnhill, Harold Lambertson, James Veach and Jim Hendricks.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Stout - Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Starland Veach

Starland Lloyd "Star" Veach, 45 year old lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Midwest City Regional Hospital.

He was born Feb. 19, 1970 in Seminole, Okla. to parents, Paula (Webster) Veach and to Harold Veach.

Star graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1988.

He married Jackie (Pierce) Veach on August 26th in Wewoka, Okla.

Star worked for several local companies at different times as a tanker truck driver. He worked for Oklahoma Liquefied Gas, Hooten Oil Company and for Oklahoma Custom Coating.

Star had attended the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his mother, Paula (Webster) Veach of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two sons, Eldon Veach of Konawa, Okla., Dalton Veach of Konawa, Okla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharlet and Jason Huff of Seminole, Okla.; two brothers Mitch Worley of Tecumseh, Okla., Mike Worley of Bowlegs; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sabra (Veach) Dixon and Jason Dixon of Pratt, Kansas, Kristina Veach of Houston, Texas; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Star was preceded in death by his father, Harold Veach; by his wife, Jackie (Pierce) Veach who died on Feb. 23, 2005; by two brothers, Sean Veach, Mark Wilfong; and by one sister, Myra Wilfong.

Graveside Services are scheduled for Noon, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Wolf Cemetery. Pastor Steve Lawrence will officiate the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
