Sherre Vincent

Sherre Lynn Sexton Vincent, age 57 and a resident of Lexington, Okla., passed away at home on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Vamoosa Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Okla.

Ron Vansil will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Roger Forney, Rosemarie Crawford, Romon Jones, and Tim McMullen.

The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan.11th at the funeral home.

Sherre was born on July 6, 1957 in Midwest City, Oklahoma to Jasper Sexton and Shirley (Jamison) Sexton.

After graduation, Sherre became a Correction Officer and worked for Lexington Correctional Center for approximately 27 years.

She married Eric Vincent on May 15, 1989 in Lexington, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Vincent of the home; parents, Jasper and Shirley Sexton of Konawa; two daughters, Jamie Eaker of Onsted, Mich. and Melissa Rogers of Ada, Okla.; one step-son, Keidrick Stevenson of Texas; two step-daughters, Erica of Oklahoma City, and Shelly of Choctaw; one brother, Tommy Sexton of Konawa; two sisters, Darlene Foster of Edmond, Okla.and Sharlene Genee of Somerset, Mich.; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made for funeral expenses at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Lynn Washburn

Lynn W. Washburn, 82 year old, Seminole, Okla. resident passed from this life on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at his home in Seminole.

He was born May 1, 1932 in Frederick, Okla. to parents James Thomas Washburn and Beulah Parthine (Haynie) Washburn.

Lynn served in the United States Air Force, 474th Installation Squadron, where he earned the Korean Service Medal and the UN Service Medal.

He then worked as an electrician for a sign installation company out of Oklahoma City until his retirement.

Survivors include three sisters, Sue Anderson and Harry Diaz, Brenda Basco and her husband Jerry, and Rosetta Barr and her husband Scotty.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Louise Wegman

Louise (Stephens) Wegman, age 88 and a life-long resident of Konawa, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Okla.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Vista Cemetery west of Konawa, Okla. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church will officiate.

Louise was born on Nov. 8, 1926 in Konawa, Okla. to Arch Stephens and Lillie (Bickerstaff) Stephens.

She graduated from Konawa High School and married William L. Wegman on May 2, 1952 in Konawa.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa and worked as a secretary for a commercial laundry.

She is survived by one son, Gary Wegman of Konawa; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Lillie Stephens; husband, William Wegman; and one sister, Bonnie Bullington..

John Wesley

John L. Wesley Sr, 59, passed away at his home in Arlee on Sunday, April 12.

A member of the Seminole Nation, he was born in Holdenville, Okla. to Leon & Emma Wesley.

He was raised in Oklahoma and served in the US Army prior to his coming to Jobs Corps where he met his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Howard and Emma (Herrod) Wesley, Sr. of Wewoka, Okla.; his wife Luanna Plant Wesley, and a brother, Victor Wesley of Phoenix, Ariz.

He leaves behind his sons John Wesley Jr ( Kendra), and Charles Lucas Plant (Arrianna)., and daughters Malina RedHorn (Bucky) and Rolanda Wesley; 11 grandchildren, and brothers and sisters Ida Wesley Gonzales of Holdenville, Leon Howard Wesley Jr. of Owasso, Andy Wesley of Holdenville, Lee Wesley Gomez of Konawa, David Wesley of Okemah, Emma Ruth Wesley Harjo of Shawnee, and Letitia Wesley of Wewoka in Oklahoma.

A wake is at the Arlee Community Center with Rosary at 8 pm Thursday.

Wake closing will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with a mass celebrated at 2 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission in St. Ignatius with burial following in the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery where military honors will be presented.

Carolyn West

Carolyn West was born on Nov. 25, 1944, in West Virginia.

She made Oklahoma her home in 1970.

She became ill in Oct. 2014, and after a long battle, the Lord took her home on Jan. 13, 2015.

When her soul departed this earth, she left behind sons Earl West Jr. and Michael West; daughters Dolly Bettis, Sherilyn West-Schexnider and Velma West; 38 grandkids, 64 great-grandkids; and lots of friends and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl West Sr.; her son, Rickey West; sister, Louise Hinzman; son-in-law, Jeffry Schexnider; daughter-in-law, Rachael West and great-granddaughter Shirley Ann.

Chick will be laid to rest on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.

Graveside service will held at Neal Cemetery, with Brother Guy Cagle Officiating.

Richard Westphal

Richard Orville Westphal, 92 year old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 in Seminole, Okla.

He was born Feb. 1, 1922 in Gorman, S.D. to parents, Clarence Westphal and Margret "Maggie" (Rausch) Westphal.

Mr. Westphal joined the United States of America Army Air Force where he served during World War II.

During his time in the service he had flown 51 missions over Germany.

He also earned the American Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters; World War II Victory Medal; and the European-Africa-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars.

Following his discharge from the military where he had earned the rank of Staff Sergeant, he went to work as a Dairy Farmer and Milk Producer in Central Oklahoma.

Mr. Westphal had also worked in Insurance Sales and in the Oklahoma Oilfields.

Mr. Westphal was of the Baptist faith and was also a long-standing member of the Dairy Farmers Association.

On Sept. 9, 1945 Mr. Westpahl married the love of his life, Nola Faye Maloy, in Long Beach, Calif.

The couple were married for 64 years.

That’s when sadly, Nola Westphal, passed from this life in 2009.

Mr. Westphal leaves to cherish his memory one son, David and his wife Mary Kay Westphal of Seminole, Okla.; three daughters, Linda and her husband Mike Palmer of Ada, Okla., Paula and her husband Tom Briggs of Pottsboro, Tex., Patricia "Tricia" and her husband Mike Griffin of Wolf, Okla.; one brother, Henry Westphal of Gettysburg, S.D.; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and dear friends.

Mr. Westphal is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maggie Westphal, by his wife Nola Westpahl and by one brother, Maynard Westphal.

A Celebration of Mr. Westphal’s life will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla. with Military Honors.

Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Okla. with Rev. Sandy Harjo officiating the service.

Casket Bearers will be, Scott Jackson, Tavis Westphal, Brent Griffin, Michael Palmer, Chad Kneeland, and David Griffin.

Honorary Bearers will be, Tyler Hobbs, Roger Mabon, and Shane Ringels.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Betty Williams

Funeral Services for Betty Lou Williams, 91, of Seminole, will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.

Betty Lou Williams was born Oct. 9, 1923 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Levi A. Null and Grace M. (McLain) Null.

She died Thursday, April 23, 2015 in Blanchard, Okla.

Betty grew up in Ninnekah, graduating from Ninnekah High School.

She met Harold "Slim" Williams, in Lawton and they were married Oct. 19, 1943.

They raised their family of five children in Seminole and Betty resided there for over 50 years.

She worked at the Seminole Producer as a proofreader and at Bluebell Wrangler, a clothing manufacturer in Seminole, and also as a seamstress at Lillian Russell Clothing Manufacturing.

Betty collected salt and pepper shakers and also had a collection of angels.

She loved to read her weekly tabloid papers and she also loved to listen to country music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dennis and Billy Null, and her husband, Harold "Slim" Williams.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David Nottnagel of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lynne Williams of Montgomery, Tex.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Barbara Williams of Blanchard; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and David Taylor of Wewoka; son, David Williams of Moore; grandchildren, Diane Meek, Ronnie Franklin, Scott Franklin, Justin Williams, Aaron Williams, Jeremy T Williams, Jacob Williams, Cheyenne Williams, Melissa Brooks, Steven Hudgins, Richard Taylor, and Shonna Stone; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
